AMAZING ambience, tasty food and very attentive service! I can only recommend it to every Chemnitz resident or tourist!

Always happy. 2019 one of the best restaurants in Chemnitz. Addendum 2024: Significantly worse. After an hour of waiting, dried out meat, my partner had canned vegetables. But I'll give the once good restaurant another chance.

Unfortunately, no correct rating is possible because we were turned away very rudely when we entered the restaurant. The reason was the time 8:55 p.m

The food was very good, as was the service.

We recently had dinner in the Kellerhaus. Had pre-ordered for 3 p.m., 3 people. The music; I found the background music to be very loud. My 2 younger “blackheads” don’t. Maybe it was because we were the only ones😉 We found pork knuckle OK for the price quoted and it was plentiful and tasty. However, the sauerkraut was lukewarm and served with just a small dumpling without crumbs and a little sauce. We had nothing to complain about in terms of service. We were the only ones.

Oldest restaurant from 1436 in Chemnitz! Highly recommended 100 m to the parking lot!

Always happy. The service is super friendly and accommodating. The food tastes delicious and is a good size. The furnishings fit the whole.

We were there on December 26th. at 1:00 p.m. in the basement house and the impression was not positive at all. The food tasted good. The size corresponded to a senior portion for the price of a normal portion. My companion had ordered a starter soup. The soup came in a cup and the cup wasn't even half full. I had game goulash with two small slices of dumplings and a very thin slice of toasted white bread. What was really unpleasant was the argumentative waitress on the topic of house lemonade. We stayed away from the dessert portions so as not to be even more disappointed. This restaurant won't see us again.

Unfortunately the quality has deteriorated significantly. Some of the food doesn't taste good at all.

Wenn man mehr als eine Stunde auf die Vorspeise warten muss und ein Mittagessen dann zwei Stunden - ohne Nachspeise, wohlgemerkt - braucht, stimmt fundamental etwas nicht in diesem ansonsten so schönen Restaurant. Eine nette Bedienung hatte zudem mitten während unseres Aufenthalts (wir kamen mit Reservierung ca. 13h an) Dienstschluss, die übernehmende Bedienung war leider kaum interessiert, unsere unverständlich langen Wartezeiten zu verkürzen, und die Qualität der dann ankommenden Soeisen war unterdurchschnittlich: das was als ‚Wildsüppchen‘ auf der Speisekarte angepriesen wurde stellte sich als dicker Soßen-Verschnitt heraus, dieselbe Soße fanden wir dann beim Sauerbraten wieder… Es brauchte fast eine Halbe Stunde ehe wir informiert wurden, dass die bestellten Gänsekeulen (wir fragten extra nach, ob es diese noch gibt) nicht verfügbar waren. Bei wenig Betrieb waren hier offenbar Bedienung und Küche überfordert - wir können nur hoffen, dass der Betreiber schnellstens reagiert, denn für das Jahr als europäische Kulturhauptstadt ist das einfach nur enttäuschend und sogar peinlich.

Very nicely decorated dishes, unfortunately the herb potatoes were not edible. Homemade lemonade syrup diluted with water also disappointed us.

We were there for Valentine's Day and also chose the Valentine's menu. Everything was perfect: super friendly and attentive service, a delicious and lovingly prepared menu and the historical ambience. We'd love to come back.

Quaint restaurant in a romantic half-timbered ambience. Friendly Asian/Saxon service. Unfortunately the food wasn't that great. Game soup was the sauce from roast game with a few cranberries. Roast venison was then very dry.

The people there are very nice and accommodating. The ambience of the cellar house is rustic and beautiful, decorated for Christmas with attention to detail. I would definitely recommend the restaurant.

Christmas 2024, Christmas Day, actually one of three days full of peace and contemplation. We had booked a table for 4 people at 1:00 p.m. First impression, crowds of people are leaving the restaurant, probably the first “pass” of Christmas dinner. It swirled around us, tablecloths were changed, glasses, cutlery and napkins were uncovered and uncovered. We were handed a folded A4 sheet of paper (menu) with the words: “We only have a small menu today. After all, we have to do it too.” What? 😳 The first drinks reached us after 40 minutes, the starters (2 soups, 1 small starter salad), upon request, after 1 3/4 hours and then, the bottle of wine was now almost empty, as did the main courses. Yes, an apology was made and dessert and coffee were offered on the house, but the guest is neither interested in whether you work with temporary workers or whether you financially need two rounds at Christmas, nor do you dismiss a guest with the words, “That's me too stupid now.” Not even as the owner's wife. The quality of the food was very good, but the rest leaves something to be desired.

Update 2024: We had our family Christmas dinner here again. This time I have to say that it was impeccable, from the food to the service, the ambience, clean toilets, beautifully decorated tables! 1A 2023 We were here as a family for Boxing Day. It was full and the waitresses were quite friendly. The food was sufficient and quite tasty. One point deducted because the service wasn't really good, we waited a long time for food and we were heard asking for drinks 2-3 times more.

The inn was beautifully decorated for Christmas and impresses with its rustic ambience. It is only a bit drafty if you sit in the front area of ​​the ground floor/entrance area. The food tasted great, but the portion size was more than manageable. A heavy eater has a hard time getting full. And unfortunately, as everywhere in the catering industry, the prices for drinks are exorbitant and the quantities (delicious Kellerbier 0.4 !!! - €5.10, peppermint lemonade 0.4 l -€4.80). Otherwise the staff was very attentive, not intrusive and very friendly! We'd love to come back, but not so soon!

Das Kellerhaus ist ein hervorragendes Gasthaus. Die Speisen sind super. Das zeigt sich schon daran das man ab 18.00 Uhr vorbestellen sollte. Das Personal ist klasse. Die Kellnerinnen servieren im Dirndl was das ganze Ambiente noch hervorhebt. Ein Besuch lohnt immer!!!!!

Were there for the Christmas party. A quaint, cozy restaurant which you have to look for because it is very hidden. Due to the several restaurants and the construction sites there on the Schloßberg, it was quite annoying as there was unfortunately no signage! The staff was very friendly and asked if everything was OK and if there was anything else you would like. I found the waiting time for the main course to be a bit long at an hour. The seasoned meat was nothing special, the meat was far too tough and what was around it was apparently just a ready-made mixture. The dumplings with the ox cheeks were a bit dry and there could have been more sauce. So I think €23 is a bit excessive. The Swedish cup as dessert was very good and tasty! All in all a nice evening.

I was in the restaurant with a Taiwanese man, a beautifully decorated restaurant, somewhat old or rustic, top service, friendly, helpful, on the ball. Food wow, melts in your mouth, people like to wait here and drink a bottle of wine in the meantime, because the food is freshly prepared, if I could click on 6 stars I would give them too. For lunch today I had salmon, baked potatoes and baked vegetables. The taste is good, but the quantity is definitely not enough for 20 euros. I was a little disappointed. That's why only 4 stars.

Dinner experience report Today I enjoyed dinner with three friends. We chose spiced meat as a starter, while the main courses consisted of roulade, sauerbraten, goulash and steak au four. The portion sizes were reasonable and fair for the price. Unfortunately, there were some discrepancies during our visit that clouded the overall impression. I would like to detail some points of criticism here: Drink selection: Unfortunately, iced tea was not available. Orders: The request to replace the dumplings with dumplings was promised, but not implemented. Food quality: The sauerbraten was tough and cold, it definitely should have stayed in the pot longer. In contrast, the roulade and the steak au four were excellent - there were no complaints here. The seasoned meat contained a lot of mushroom, which I personally liked, but not all of my friends. When it came to goulash, fatty pieces of meat significantly spoiled the enjoyment. Cutlery: The knives at the table were extremely dull, which made it difficult to cut, especially the tough meat. In summary, the food was okay overall, but had some weaknesses. The service quality was acceptable, but not outstanding - in particular, the lack of implementation of our request for changes to the supplement left a negative impression. However, the ambience deserves special praise: the design is extremely tasteful, inviting and contributes significantly to the atmosphere. The ambience is ultimately the main reason why I gave it four stars overall, although the sauerbraten was unfortunately disappointing as one of my favorite dishes. It is not yet clear whether we will visit this restaurant again.

The atmosphere is really nice and the service is outstanding and damn friendly and funny. Thanks again to the nice waitress with the many tattoos! The food was very disappointing, the knuckle was totally dry and the fish tasted completely of rosemary. I can't recommend the potato salad either. 1 hour waiting time for the food and an average of over 20 euros per portion - everything just has to be right. As a first visit it was really very disappointing, something like that doesn't work particularly well with the knuckle without going into it further. We tried it once but were completely disappointed with the food. Our experiences with it were negative.

Since it wasn't our first visit, we were also looking forward to the good cuisine. Unfortunately the result here was mixed. The positive first: I had a really perfect spicy meat starter, great 👍🏻 The food from the other people in our group was also good. BUT: I ordered the ox cheeks with dumplings and bacon beans. The beans were totally over salted and the dumplings were unfortunately a bit dry. (You can also see it in the picture). That shouldn't happen and it has already spoiled the experience. But since we have been guests several times and the other food was also good, I can still give it a solid 4.5 stars. Unfortunately, a touch is missing for 5 stars. In our opinion, price/performance is completely acceptable.

The selection on the menu was very interesting. The steak was tender and perfectly cooked. The vegetables served with it were fresh. Additionally, the seafood risotto was extremely tasty with its creamy consistency. It left a wonderful taste. The staff was friendly and gave us great recommendations. It was difficult for people from outside the area to arrive by car because of a large construction site. However, there are enough parking spaces near the cellar house. No disabled access to the restaurant. The restaurant itself is very stylishly furnished in a rustic style. A reservation would make sense. The menu was extensive. Our grilled knuckle was very good, as was the sauce. However, due to the amount of meat, a second dumpling would have been desirable. The service was very good. If we are in Chemnitz again, we will definitely enjoy dining there again.

Cozy and large selection of classics, such as sauerbraten, goulash, roulade, knuckle, brawn. Vegetarians also get their money's worth. The food is not greasy - as is often the case with cards from Mother's Kitchen - but really tasteful and delicious, just as you want it to be.

We started from Sassnitz around 8 a.m. and wanted to go to Upper Franconia, but the traffic situation on the Berliner Ring forced us to take the Dresden motorway. Here too, construction work delayed a quick journey home. The tank was almost empty and we really needed a break. Then I remembered the cellar house, it's difficult to find anything on the way. We received friendly service and our food was delicious 😋, a gas station ⛽️ was quickly found. We were happy that this idea 💡 came to us. We would love to come back...

Nun ja, recht nette und flotte Bedienung in rustikalem Ambiente! Was das Essen anbelangt werden bestimmte Ansprüche sicherlich gut bedient, wir jedoch haben uns dort fehl am Platz gefühlt. Ist man mit einem Steak au Four a'la Mehlpampe, einem Haufen stark gesalzener Pommes, dafür Unmengen an gewürzlosem Tiefkühlgemüse nebst anderer NO GO's zufrieden kann das sicher ganz nett sein, ansonsten besser woanders hingehen!

We were on the terrace of the pantry, 3 people and Havanese Frieda. We were placed very friendly, Frieda always sits in the dog buggy in restaurants and the like. This was also taken into account in the placement. Before we placed our order, Frieda was given water and treats, something we had never experienced before. The waiter was very polite, courteous, nice with a good dose of humor, thank you very much for that. The food was simply to die for. The taste is very good, the presentation is a real eye-catcher, simply great. We recommend this restaurant, it is really exceptional, the prices are justified. Thank you for this really nice evening.

I've been to the basement house three times so far. However, yesterday's visit was challenging. The drink order took twenty minutes and we waited almost two hours for the food. While we waited, the glasses sat empty for an hour. The food this time was rather mediocre. Pretty carelessly prepared and the meat was dry. All of us were disappointed with the visit, which was confirmed by the table next to us. The obvious imbalance between booking and service/cuisine inevitably leads to such experiences. My recommendations and visits to and in the basement house are now counted. There are two stars for the ambience (you can see past the plastic flowers).

Celebrated a friend's birthday here today. We sat outside even though the weather wasn't kind to us. That didn't dampen the mood. The service friendly and quick. The drinks were served quickly. Unfortunately we had to wait a while for the food. But the restaurant was also well attended. My rump steak with chanterelles tasted very good. Unfortunately the guest point was a bit tired of it. I ordered it medium rare. Which is also difficult for the chef to hit. I still enjoyed the steak. The other dishes would all have been delicious too. Unfortunately, the fried ice cream is no longer available. Please add it back to the map. The Kellerhaus in Chemnitz gets a clear recommendation from me.

Embarrassing, I got a little lost on the way to the hotel. The decision to have lunch here was rather spontaneous. I immediately felt at home, the staff was very friendly, the food was excellent. Where can you still get delicious home-cooked food today? If I come to Chemnitz again I will definitely come here again. I give it a 100 percent recommendation and many thanks to the team

A restaurant with home-style cuisine. Prices are okay, there is nothing wrong with the service. Unfortunately the food is just mediocre. Not enough sauce for the knuckle, the sauerkraut was bland, the dumpling tasted of nothing. The meat was ok, but almost too dry. But the portion was big enough. The lemonade (wild berry) consists only of syrup infused with water and fruit from the freezer.

Beautiful location, cozy atmosphere, cool beer garden... the service staff was super friendly, fast, courteous, communicative and also nice-looking in their "traditional clothes"... 😉 Unfortunately, the food was very different... The potato rösti with smoked salmon were delicious , fresh and nicely seasoned... the roulade was overcooked, the sauce was completely tasteless and the red cabbage was much too slimy... that could have been much better... Too bad 😟

Parking spaces are available, but too few at peak times. You should be prepared for that. The restaurant is comfortably furnished and you feel comfortable. What we didn't like at all was that it took an hour until we got our food. At least the starters should have been at the table within a reasonable period of time. One starter even came after the main course. The service should have been a little more attentive. Even if the house is full, I don't think that's okay. But the food was very tasty. So the kitchen did everything right.

The service wasn't good. We waited almost 20 minutes from the first drink to the second. Although it was seen that the drinks were empty. The food wasn't any better. The beef roulade was completely dry and the sauce couldn't save it. The Schupfnudeln were completely burnt and the pork loin was no longer good. You don't give something like that out.

The food was excellent The service was a bit chaotic due to the lack of skilled workers, you had to wait forever for drinks and the food only came after an hour and a half of waiting, but as I said, because there weren't many people who knew how to wait, the service staff really made an effort.
