Kazoku Le Gera in Gera

Very tasty food but also very expensive for Gera. Very nice atmosphere and during the week you can get a place even without booking. Unfortunately the staff wasn't very friendly, rather a bit aloof. The Japanese are known for their excessive friendliness. That's what makes a restaurant visit so unfortunately only 4 stars.

Food was simply missing several times when ordering. Price level far too high.

Was there a week ago with my work colleagues. I liked it a lot. My colleagues too. Most of us had sushi. But since I'm not a big sushi eater, I don't have much experience. However, I thought it looked very good and my colleagues really liked it. Can be recommended.

We ate here for the first time today, on a Thursday evening. The ambience is great, the starters came quickly. We really didn't have to wait long for the main courses either. Everything tasted very, very good. Service was also attentive, asking frequently if anything was missing. I'm glad we made up our own minds. We'd love to come back!

Unfortunately some of the food was brought cold. Also, each meal came at a different time, which is why we couldn't enjoy the meal together. The main courses were brought first and the starters only after request. The waiter must have forgotten to bring it. Furthermore, it was too expensive for the portions and the temperature of the food.

Had dinner here with friends today and wanted to go to the cinema afterwards. However, we were left waiting 1.5 hours in the kitchen fumes until we could no longer think of going to the cinema (due to the smell). The toilets and hand washing area were dingy. There is no paper towel dispenser. Just a pile of folded paper soaked in previous users. The staff was completely overwhelmed with their task. We watched our food for 7 minutes!! was on the counter before it was brought to us. The food was very good, but we had the impression that we had walked into the owner's money printing machine.

Unfortunately, the last visit last Friday (07.03.25) was again a failure. The cards came to the table quickly and the order was also taken quickly. But then nothing happened at first. We had to wait 20 minutes for the small starter (summer rolls with salmon - declared as 4 pieces, but they are 2 small ones cut in half). The main courses - 1 grill plate and 4 sushi rolls were only served after asking twice - over 70 minutes after ordering. In the meantime our drinks were empty and refills only came after we proactively asked. Overall, the service wasn't great - we had to clear the table ourselves and keep reminding ourselves. Unfortunately, some of the products on the grill plate were also cold. It was tasty, but in my opinion not worth €120 for two people. Another disadvantage of the long waiting time: we were “stewed” - I haven't smelled so strongly of food in a long time. Very untypical for a sushi restaurant. Unfortunately, I didn't receive an invoice when I paid in cash... But the last receipt for a business meal at the end of 2024 wasn't in order either - so all the food was declared for collection, even though it (just like the drinks) was consumed on site

Clear 5 stars. Best sushi in Gera and one of the best I've ever eaten. Good service and great ambience. Always worth a visit, but you should reserve in advance.

The food at Kazoku le is really great. Everything else is absolutely not recommended! We had to wait 1.5 hours for our food while we sat in the restaurant that smelled of old oil. The smell is really extreme and is still pungent even after washing your hair and clothes. The rest of the restaurant doesn't shine with cleanliness and hygiene either.

I fluctuate between three and four stars. For the portion you get, the prices are pretty steep.

Sushi was tasty, but the kitchen smell is foul and detracted from the restaurant experience. Our clothes still stink of it and transfer the smell into the car and apartment despite the scent spray treatment. 🤢

We were here for the fourth time and also for the last time. First of all: the food tasted as always. But there was an unpleasant draft from some ventilation so that we were freezing, then an unpleasant grill smell so that our eyes burned and our entire clothes smelled of it. Then I finally wanted to drink a Vietnamese coffee, there is no answer and the reason: the people behind the counter can't do it, the wheat yeast was also all gone. Very bad service. We had already prepared ourselves for the waiting time of 1.5 hours.

A slightly different review - topic of animal husbandry: The restaurant has a really nice atmosphere, especially the koi pond which is located right at the entrance. However, unfortunately no attention is paid to species-appropriate husbandry here. There is a maximum of 1,000 liters in this “pond”, although I think it is certainly only half that. There are 5 large koi swimming in the tank, as well as many other small fish and 2-3 turtles. One koi alone needs 1,500 liters of water, so now everyone can calculate that for themselves. You simply feel sorry for the animals when you see how little space they have to swim, as they can actually only stay on the surface of the water and then be pecked at by children's fingers. That just leaves a bitter aftertaste when you visit this restaurant and ruins your appetite. Sometimes less is more. Doesn't make a good picture. Very unfortunate.

The two of us were here around 7:20 p.m. on a Monday. Drinks didn't come at the same time after 20 minutes, but 5 minutes apart. The lemonades are very tasty. Chicken Karage was served as a starter after another 20 minutes. Unfortunately, I can't recommend it. Thai curry and sushi came together after another 20 minutes, but at least. The main courses also taste quite good. The waiter could have been more organized and polite.

It is really disappointing that the waiter was not in control of his work, was not committed and did not act friendly towards the guests. The starters were only served 50 minutes after we ordered, the main courses 20 minutes later. The food was ok for the price. I would like to leave this review because the service left something to be desired. We weren't even asked if we liked the food. To pay we had to go to the waiter twice before it worked. I hope that the waiter will work faster and more organized in the future. He should also treat guests more politely. Of two drinks ordered, only one was brought and it was not explained that the other drink would come later. It's really annoying to have to wait for a long time while the waiter walks around obviously not knowing what to do.

This has now simply become my favorite restaurant. I have never had such good sushi in a restaurant as I did in this one. The kimchi is divine, the cocktails and mocktails taste so delicious and the way the food is prepared is always a feast for the eyes. Yes, the food is expensive, but that's how it is with fish. If you want cheap fish, go to Rewe in the frozen section or learn how to prepare sushi yourself (ps: you won't get it as cheaply as you think). The two of us always pay around €80 - €100 (including drinks) and are then completely full. The interior design is very pleasing to the eyes and is very suitable for a romantic meal for two. For those who complain about toilets that aren't clinically clean: Do you eat your food in the toilet? What is this fixation about? Pull yourself together.

Food is the best of the best, but the atmosphere is a bit odd. My feeling is that everything except the entry area has an odd arrangement / lighting. When we visited the location so many spot lights featuring cold temperatures were switched on that it felt like we were dining in a train station. My summary would be the overall concept is not consistent.

Really rude staff! That's a shame! We had reserved a table specifically for my birthday, and my husband personally drove there before my birthday to make sure everything went smoothly and we got the table we wanted. And then such behavior! The evening we arrived our reserved table was occupied. Without any apology, we were rudely told that we had to sit somewhere else - and that was just the way it was! Such disrespect and poor service are absolutely unacceptable these days. Never again!

The service in the restaurant is lovely, fast and there is nothing to complain about. The salmon belly portion is outstanding, tasty and fresh. There are also many other delicious dishes, so you should definitely visit the restaurant if you have the opportunity.

You don't have to go to Gera for that... Although the shop looks more like a fast food restaurant, the evening dragged on. So neither the ambience nor the pace of work had anything to do with comfort - there was simply no progress. While we were waiting for the placement, we thought it would be better to get a take-away pizza from across the street. When we finally sat down, our fingers were stuck to the menus and the cutlery didn't quite meet the definition of cleanliness either. We considered calling the restaurant from the table to place an order, but shortly before death a waiter saved us by taking the order. But because even bottled drinks took forever, we even considered leaving. After over an hour the starters arrived. The miso soup tasted like yesterday's sea water and spring onions - so it could be better formulated tenderly. The baked oysters were good on their own, but topped with this individually wrapped toasted cheese. On homemade toast after a night of drinking, this stuff is really a revelation, but on an oyster for €8...? Yes, it says "processed cheese" on the menu, but since there is also "flat wine", I didn't necessarily assume that the information was correct; above all, I simply know it better - my mistake. The rest of the food (soups, noodles, rice, vegetables, sauces, meat) was fine, so it wasn't something you'd have to lick your plate for, even though you actually should, given the prices. When it comes to the crispy duck, I'm still looking for the major difference to the Chinese snack, where it only costs a third. Conclusion: You can do it when the rest are already closed, but there was no tip.

We wanted to have a nice meal with friends and drove to Gera to see you. Our drinks didn't come until after my starter, which was at the table after 45 minutes. 10 minutes later the remaining starters arrived. And then....nothing for a long time!! Zero interest from service! Not even drinks were refilled! After a total waiting time of 2 hours, the main courses were still not at the table! Our lovely evening was ruined, we paid for our few things and left. I don't even want to start with the price/performance ratio. We are pissed!!!
