I picked out a watch in the watch department and there was no staff anywhere. After 15 minutes I left and just ordered the watch online, even 49 euros cheaper. So it doesn't really surprise me that the era of department stores is over.

Lovely service in the perfume section, they understood instantly what I needed and it was a pleasure to exchange with the people there !

Great discount campaign with percentages on reduced goods. However, I have to say that the atmosphere of the former department store has completely disappeared. It was completely empty on a Friday afternoon... hardly any customers and hardly any staff. Whereas the city center was full and you had to queue at the changing rooms in other stores. Really a shame.

The Kaufhof (Galeria today) Hohe Str. was the greatest shopping experience for us as children. After many years we were there again yesterday😱. In the men's department, the display of goods looked like it did at the leftover sale. The tables were disheveled and untidy. No staff. On the floor below (men and women) I wanted to ask a saleswoman something and spoke to her in a friendly manner. She rolled her eyes and snapped at me that she wasn't responsible for sales😱. We then stood in a queue of 10 customers at the checkout. Only one of five cash registers was open. Shoe department: After a long search, I finally found a shoe, but the saleswoman was obviously too lazy to look for the second one when asked. Overall, no salesperson was able or willing to help me at all, perhaps even find something else. I'm not surprised that we've already slipped into bankruptcy several times and it will certainly happen again. Big praise to Galeria Düren, because they will be friendly and happy to help you. The memory of a Hohe Str. department store has faded away.

06.08.24 Update to the review by. Dec. 23: In response to my first review, Galeria Hohe Straße asked for a second chance. They got them today and unfortunately nothing has improved, but worsened. My visit again took me to the laundry department of the house because I had seen online that Galeria carries a certain model of laundry. The department looked terrible. There were literally pieces of laundry lying on the floor everywhere and hanging haphazardly on the racks. Once again while looking for a saleswoman, I saw two employees who were chatting animatedly and didn't care about their department or their customers! I DON'T UNDERSTAND! The closing of the building and the layoffs of employees are now off the table. So it won't work with Galeria... What a shame! -----------------------' Dec. 23 I feel sorry for the Kaufhof. Over the last few months I have repeatedly been willing to support the local department store and spend money there. Today was a last attempt. Two saleswomen were talking in the laundry department, another was cleaning up...no one was able to advise me. In the shop-in-shop at Phase Eight...the ladies who are supposed to advise and sell were talking privately. And in the Maison 123 department: When I asked if she had a belt for the pants I tried on, I was told, "Look back there, I'm just doing it online." Do I have to understand that? The only friendly lady was at Ted Baker in the Kaufhof, who greeted you and offered to help. It's a shame for the Kaufhof, even the last on-site customers are being scared away.

I went to a department store in the main part of Cologne and bought some souvenirs in the basement food section. We carry specialty products from all over Germany. There was also Candice, a specialty of Hamburg, which I couldn't find even after searching all over Hamburg, which made me laugh bitterly. They also have a good selection of wines, so it's recommended if you're looking for a wine to drink during your stay.

I had the worst experience in my life here at your store. One of the chashiers at the counter on 0 Floor is a racist. She was tall and big. She was very rude and it seemed like she was looking down on asians. I will never visit your store again in my life.

We went shopping today and found a lot (handbag, shoes, a chic top for large sizes in women's clothing here size 54!!! However, when we arrived in the men's department and asked a middle-aged saleswoman if it was also for men There was a corner with large sizes and the saleswoman looked us up and down and said: You know, we're a normal department store, we don't stock something like that and left us standing there shaking our heads. We don't need to be treated in a humiliating way. Just because you have a few extra kilos on your ribs, although I found something, you don't have to treat customers like that again, nor will acquaintances, friends and family if we tell them about it.

I have been a Kaufhof fan from the very beginning and am pleased that the two department stores in Cologne city center and the Mainz department store have managed to survive (for now). I live in Mainz, but am often in Cologne and the HOHE STRASSE department store is usually my first stop. The thing about the high prices is absolutely not true, there are often discount campaigns, the customer card does the rest, you have space to shop and the staff is friendly. The sports department is also very large and well stocked. I'm happy to be here every time.

You can find everything, but it's a bit expensive. Small food department in the basement with very good meat and fish counters. Grill station excellent. However, the full selection is currently only available from around 12:15/30 p.m.

It is large and varied in clothing and shoe brands, which is where I was. But there were winter clothes on sale which for me was not very interesting.

Depending on what you are looking for, you may find many things. Get to know how you can use a discount, people are very kind.

I visited the store to get a men's suit. Here, after a short conversation with the budget and desired color, the older gentleman immediately had a suit in mind and, without knowing my size, said, “Try this one on.” It was straight out of the box and was within my budget. No annoying talking about unnecessary accessories or care items. We weren't particularly impressed by the other employee - estimated to be in his late 40s - because he looked at us very arrogantly and after asking "Do you have anything in the budget of 200/250 euros?" said "No, you won't get very far here for less than 400 euros “and wanted to get rid of me. The older gentleman then immediately said “yes we have!”. The older gentleman got everything out of it with his great service, which is why it's still worth the full 5 stars. We were super satisfied and can only recommend everyone to go to this address if someone needs a suit. The gentleman deserves a medal for his super precise eye. Top Top Top! 👍

The cash registers are manned by 1 person catastrophe

Large department store with a magnificent exterior in the middle of Cologne city center. There is almost everything your heart desires here, but then somehow not everything. Many things are out of stock, in the wrong size or way too expensive. Staff friendly though. If you want to travel back in time to the 90s, you've come to the right place. The interior design hasn't changed in years, everything screams "renovate me"! The Internet has (unfortunately) become the better department store. But there is a nice view over Cologne from the top parking level.

Yes, I was in the Karstadt and in the Kaufhof I have to say very disappointing, a relic from a bygone era

I had to buy a men's suit for a family wedding. After, as expected, I couldn't find anything suitable in terms of quality or appearance at C&A, I went to Kaufhof. When I got there I was a bit overwhelmed at first because of the many sizes and fits. Luckily, the salesman, Mr. Schönhoff, took care of me and confidently found the right jacket, trousers and shirt in a very short time. I was thrilled with the advice, the expertise and the friendly service. This is how "men" like to buy clothes. A star deduction for the fact that the Kaufhof's appearance has deteriorated in recent years from the former "flagship" in Cologne. Very sad.

Case 1, yesterday I was visiting Galeria in Cologne Hohestraße. I wanted to do something good for myself and buy a perfume. I was standing at the checkout and wanted to pay with my Sodexo card (prepaid Visa). The system said system error. Then I got the question: Do you have enough on it? What does system error have to do with credit? I was very embarrassed because customers were already looking next to me. I was then told to run downstairs with a nice employee to try it again. It didn't work either. I was informed that Sodexo payments are currently not possible. WISO I have to walk around as a customer. What's the point? This trading company is listed on the Sodexo (now Pluxxe) website. It's strange that I paid with it at the Bonn branch about 1.5 weeks ago. WISO doesn't do this in Cologne. After all, this is money only on a prepaid card. EC cards also work. What is this, who ordered that Visa.Prepaid money is not accepted? Case 2. I bought a Biotherm product there, it doesn't really matter which product. I paid this. I looked in the Galeria online shop and saw the product about 4 euros cheaper. Mmh, I thought: just ask at the checkout. Then I did that too. The cashier said why I hadn't looked at it before. I apologized ironically and said, I'm sorry I didn't check online first. I seemed like he really thought I was apologizing. For what, ? What's going on at Galeria. WISO does not spit out the cash register at the discounted online price. In every other store (Media Markt and Co) the online prices are already included at the checkout. I spoke to a friendly saleswoman on the second floor. She thinks that's what we want and that we shouldn't say to the customer: have you already looked online? What kind of company has Galeria become, , Prepaid/Visa are not accepted and the online price is not mentioned. You cannot run a company with this corporate policy. What's going on there ?

A diverse store for the whole family

It used to be nice, but now it's completely overpriced and you can feel that with the employees, who are - which you can understand - completely annoyed by what you're doing to them. Arrogant staff hardly answer any questions or give advice at all, no shame about the branch or completely new staff who don't pay attention to appearances.

Many floors of shopping, many choices, clothing, jewelry, perfumes, cosmetics, toys, etc….. The is also a restaurant, to take rest and a break.

€3.20 for a cup of coffee that you have to get yourself and wait in line at the checkout. You also have to pay for the toilet. That was the last coffee here today.

As a child at Christmas time - A dreamland - Today: pure disillusionment. Of course you can shop at Kaufhof - but why? Parking spaces as expensive as the maximum shipping costs of a large mail order company, service: "If it doesn't hang there, then we won't run it anymore", restaurant (used to be a MUST) today, even the canteen of a tax office is better. Completely exorbitant prices - and food at canteen level. The main thing is that Mr. Benzko creates jobs and the taxpayer is asked to pay. With this concept, it is better to close the department stores and thus contribute to the death of the inner cities. Sad but unfortunately true.

I was just there to change the battery for the watch. That worked smoothly. Unfortunately, the colleague wasn't there. Had to wait 10 minutes for someone to come. I wanted to have the watch cleaned but there isn't even an ultrasound device available.

You can get pretty much everything here. Visually, this Kaufhof main branch always looks very good, modernly furnished, with free WiFi.
