Friendly staff and large selection.

“Doom and gloom” is exactly the right word that still applies to the Kaufhof of today. I also have to say that the food really tasted like shit. I knew it differently back then. The buffet foods were checked under my selective nose. All I heard from the staff was: ahh, fill up with a little cheese and then everything will be fine again. The sliced ​​currywurst was completely spoiled and hard. The potato gratin was musty and from that moment on I understood that everything on offer at the buffet was a bit too much. Do you know when McDonald's burgers become rock hard because they sit for a long time? I also let them know that there was something wrong with the things. The chef said that I should take the sausage off the plate and use something else instead. Unfortunately, the meatballs didn't work at all and from a purely visual perspective they weren't an eye-catcher. But the truth that everything has been simmering since midday would have been a good answer. Instead it was over 12 € for a bunch of food on the plate, all of which tasted old and rotten when weighed and I'm sure it will stay that way because it no longer has the quality from years ago. If you make new sauce with old sausage, you can do that for a while even if you hate your guests and don't care what ends up in their stomachs. In short: never again since the visit today. It was disgusting

You can find everything, but it's a bit expensive. Small food department in the basement with very good meat and fish counters. Grill station excellent. However, the full selection is currently only available from around 12:15/30 p.m.

Today I was looking for clothes again but couldn't find anything. Parrots colors everywhere you look. No wonder Kaufhof is going down the drain. Sad to see the decline over the last 40 years. Update from 11/2/24 It's getting worse and less attractive!

Escalators are broken and you always have to walk around

Unfortunately, the department store has a visual standard of the 90s and 2000s and unfortunately cannot keep up with locations such as Frankfurt am Hauptwache in terms of flair. It's actually a real shame for a location in this location. It's really time for further expansion and a complete renovation. This would certainly further enhance the otherwise very attractive Hohe Straße. Saturn has already done it right and has opened a top modern location next door to you after moving out. You'll definitely get your location changed that way too.

Service checkout 35 minutes for a pair of shoes. Parking ticket not released despite 150 € value of goods. Lighting and air invite circulatory collapse. The salesperson in the shoe department gets the star. He was friendly and helpful unobtrusive. Unfortunately you couldn't pay him.

I felt uncomfortable and annoyed that after I found what I was looking for, I felt manipulated into walking past the entire range if possible. There is no/hardly any daylight. Only old people. A shop like from a bygone era. A bit scary

Very friendly and helpful staff, I am satisfied with the purchase itself. BUT: several escalators are broken and toilets look like those at the main train station! Everything is smeared, scratched, rusty and the cheapest toilet paper. Galeria is of course bankrupt again, but they could have scraped together a few hundred euros for the branch. It really doesn't fit the slightly higher price range of the products on offer.

Absolutely overpriced, even things that have been reduced can still be viewed as pharmacy prices. The toilets are absolutely horrible and stink. You then have to throw in 50 cents even though no one is ever sitting there. Absolutely cheeky!

I picked out a watch in the watch department and there was no staff anywhere. After 15 minutes I left and just ordered the watch online, even 49 euros cheaper. So it doesn't really surprise me that the era of department stores is over.

Lovely service in the perfume section, they understood instantly what I needed and it was a pleasure to exchange with the people there !

Great discount campaign with percentages on reduced goods. However, I have to say that the atmosphere of the former department store has completely disappeared. It was completely empty on a Friday afternoon... hardly any customers and hardly any staff. Whereas the city center was full and you had to queue at the changing rooms in other stores. Really a shame.

The Kaufhof (Galeria today) Hohe Str. was the greatest shopping experience for us as children. After many years we were there again yesterday😱. In the men's department, the display of goods looked like it did at the leftover sale. The tables were disheveled and untidy. No staff. On the floor below (men and women) I wanted to ask a saleswoman something and spoke to her in a friendly manner. She rolled her eyes and snapped at me that she wasn't responsible for sales😱. We then stood in a queue of 10 customers at the checkout. Only one of five cash registers was open. Shoe department: After a long search, I finally found a shoe, but the saleswoman was obviously too lazy to look for the second one when asked. Overall, no salesperson was able or willing to help me at all, perhaps even find something else. I'm not surprised that we've already slipped into bankruptcy several times and it will certainly happen again. Big praise to Galeria Düren, because they will be friendly and happy to help you. The memory of a Hohe Str. department store has faded away.

06.08.24 Update to the review by. Dec. 23: In response to my first review, Galeria Hohe Straße asked for a second chance. They got them today and unfortunately nothing has improved, but worsened. My visit again took me to the laundry department of the house because I had seen online that Galeria carries a certain model of laundry. The department looked terrible. There were literally pieces of laundry lying on the floor everywhere and hanging haphazardly on the racks. Once again while looking for a saleswoman, I saw two employees who were chatting animatedly and didn't care about their department or their customers! I DON'T UNDERSTAND! The closing of the building and the layoffs of employees are now off the table. So it won't work with Galeria... What a shame! -----------------------' Dec. 23 I feel sorry for the Kaufhof. Over the last few months I have repeatedly been willing to support the local department store and spend money there. Today was a last attempt. Two saleswomen were talking in the laundry department, another was cleaning up...no one was able to advise me. In the shop-in-shop at Phase Eight...the ladies who are supposed to advise and sell were talking privately. And in the Maison 123 department: When I asked if she had a belt for the pants I tried on, I was told, "Look back there, I'm just doing it online." Do I have to understand that? The only friendly lady was at Ted Baker in the Kaufhof, who greeted you and offered to help. It's a shame for the Kaufhof, even the last on-site customers are being scared away.

I went to a department store in the main part of Cologne and bought some souvenirs in the basement food section. We carry specialty products from all over Germany. There was also Candice, a specialty of Hamburg, which I couldn't find even after searching all over Hamburg, which made me laugh bitterly. They also have a good selection of wines, so it's recommended if you're looking for a wine to drink during your stay.

I had the worst experience in my life here at your store. One of the chashiers at the counter on 0 Floor is a racist. She was tall and big. She was very rude and it seemed like she was looking down on asians. I will never visit your store again in my life.

The point is not with the employees. The point goes to the corrupt bosses and owners. What have you done? It's sad 😢 to see the house like this.

We went shopping today and found a lot (handbag, shoes, a chic top for large sizes in women's clothing here size 54!!! However, when we arrived in the men's department and asked a middle-aged saleswoman if it was also for men There was a corner with large sizes and the saleswoman looked us up and down and said: You know, we're a normal department store, we don't stock something like that and left us standing there shaking our heads. We don't need to be treated in a humiliating way. Just because you have a few extra kilos on your ribs, although I found something, you don't have to treat customers like that again, nor will acquaintances, friends and family if we tell them about it.

I have been a Kaufhof fan from the very beginning and am pleased that the two department stores in Cologne city center and the Mainz department store have managed to survive (for now). I live in Mainz, but am often in Cologne and the HOHE STRASSE department store is usually my first stop. The thing about the high prices is absolutely not true, there are often discount campaigns, the customer card does the rest, you have space to shop and the staff is friendly. The sports department is also very large and well stocked. I'm happy to be here every time.

Absolutely love this place… a must for all visits to Köln! Have been coming here for years.. there is an absolutely amazing Kölsch bar in the basement, the chap running it has been looking after me for years, I have no idea of his name, he is from Italy but he makes trips so much more enjoyable. The Kölsch is bloody amazing, the surroundings are bloody amazing and the chap looking after us is also bloody amazing… people flock to him, when they leave he is out saying goodbye to them… as he did to us! What I write will not do this Kölsch Bar justice, come visit, see for yourself!!

I visited the store to get a men's suit. Here, after a short conversation with the budget and desired color, the older gentleman immediately had a suit in mind and, without knowing my size, said, “Try this one on.” It was straight out of the box and was within my budget. No annoying talking about unnecessary accessories or care items. We weren't particularly impressed by the other employee - estimated to be in his late 40s - because he looked at us very arrogantly and after asking "Do you have anything in the budget of 200/250 euros?" said "No, you won't get very far here for less than 400 euros “and wanted to get rid of me. Large department store with a magnificent exterior in the middle of Cologne city center. There is almost everything your heart desires here, but then somehow not everything. Many things are out of stock, in the wrong size or way too expensive. Staff friendly though. If you want to travel back in time to the 90s, you've come to the right place. The interior design hasn't changed in years, everything screams "renovate me"! The Internet has (unfortunately) become the better department store. But there is a nice view over Cologne from the top parking level.
