Katz Orange in Berlin

What an amazing place! Location is super cute, both inside as well as in the courtyard. Food was incredible - we tried the tasing menu with 8 people and it was super tasty. Highlight was definitely the service - probably the best I have received in Berlin so far.

The food is poor in relation to the quality and quantity. The ambiance in the restaurant doesn't match the high prices either!

The seating area under the mirror is definitely too low. The mirror itself is annoying and distracting (more of a personal opinion).

Cooking with a passion for experimentation The food is super delicious, with wonderfully well-combined dishes, beautifully presented in colorful dishes. The asparagus is crisp and spicy, the potato gratin melts in your mouth, and our other dishes are just as delicious. The service is delightful and very attentive. The decor is wonderful; just give it a try.

To find a spot like this in Berlin makes no matter how your day goes it a 10+ experience! In addition, the service, their attention/genuine interest and their advice, complete the picture! When we are in Berlin again, Katsorange will be on our menu ;-)

Wonderful as the first time I visited Berlin 10 years ago! Couldn’t wait to share it with my husband & son and they loved it too!!

The aperitifs were average in taste and somewhat poorly presented, and Ken felt like an urgency after the starters. The starters and the Duroc pork were excellent, as always. The Jutland salmon was steamed far too much and thus overcooked, but the crust was subsequently perfected. The petit fours and the sorrel ice cream with strawberries were very good, and the crème brûlée had a lot of room for improvement. Regarding the service: too many staff with little efficiency; you get the impression that half are semi-trained, the other half are new to the job, which was a shame. It seemed very confusing. The service staff's overall clothing seemed shabby; it was probably meant to be casual urban, but it is shabby. From the personal T-shirts to the partially dirty shoes (Converse, for example, which were past their best), which was a shame. Otherwise, a very pleasant evening, as the outdoor ambiance is very pleasant.

Great food (the ceviche!), fantastic cocktails (Umami Midnight!), and great, unfussy service! Perfect all around!

A glass of sparkling wine on the house to start – it makes you feel like you're paying an honorary visit to Mother Merkel. Speaking of which: High-ranking politicians were sitting at the next table, and we were right in the middle of it all, between the filet and the office gossip. The food? Absolutely delicious! The taste was top-notch; you can tell the kitchen's got it. It's just a shame: we'd barely ordered and the plate was on the table – it was almost like speed dining at a deli. We would have loved to indulge in all the fancy stuff for another round. Not exactly cheap, but hey: you get something on your plate and something to look at. Katz Orange? You can do it – and with style. Full marks, eh!

A great location with a fair price-performance ratio. Given the current warm temperatures, we were offered a nice spot on the spacious terrace. Unfortunately, the table rattled, and the chairs weren't particularly comfortable either. The food was regional and highly recommended. The service was friendly and attentive, but "only" English-speaking. Not a good impression for a restaurant of this price point. Overall, we'll definitely be back, but we would appreciate it if the staff spoke better German.

Unfortunately, the food was only lukewarm, both the warm starters and the main courses. The taste was only "okay," but not as good as my first two times at KatzOrange.

I've been a regular there for years. The ambiance is outstanding and the food is fantastic. The service is truly world-class. As a regular, I was kindly given dessert as a gift. A truly top-notch restaurant. I'll definitely be back next year.

Our visit to Katz Orange was absolutely excellent and unique! A very pleasant ambiance and a fantastic interior!

Food quality couldn't be better and the place is very comfortable and friendly. Only minor complaint is that some of the personnel that does not speak German doesn't even try, but that's something you get used to in Berlin these days. The slow food concept, which is excellent, should be promoted even more forcefully.

The fries were delicious, but the main courses were very average and overpriced. Service was okay. The backyard is very nice, though, and you can sit outside comfortably. Overall, though, it was overrated. You can eat much better in Berlin for the price.

If you starve to death in Berlin, it is maybe because you are placed in a wrong location. Come to Kats Orange. Literally it will make your eyes wider open to cherish the time in Berlin finally.

As always, very good, just small things. It would have been nice if oil, salt, and pepper were available on the table. Water was served without ordering but charged for. Bread costs extra and was served without butter, but that wasn't so important given the good food and atmosphere.

I really enjoyed my dining experience at Katz Orange. We shared one appetizer, a bread basket, the brisket of two servings and roasted cauliflower between the two of us. The brisket was exquisite, and the cauliflower was really good too. We were so full that we had to skip desserts. Their cocktails were excellent, as well. The ambience is stylish and warm, and it’s cozy no matter how small or large your group might be. They also have outdoor seating area inside which would be ideal for warm summer evening. Highly recommend.

This was the second time we were in a separate room for an event; everything was fine, but the noise from outside was disturbing.

Good coctails, insignificant food, high prices

We were fortunate enough to discover this charming restaurant today – even though it was actually closed in the afternoon, as preparations were underway for a private event that evening. When the rain suddenly started pouring down, we sought shelter and were welcomed with a warmth that deeply touched us. We asked for an espresso and a beer, and both were served with the utmost kindness and care. As we were about to pay, the manager surprised us with the words: "Just leave a tip of your choice, that's fine." This generosity and warmth are truly extraordinary! This restaurant exudes such a warm, welcoming atmosphere that we will definitely return – when it's open regularly. A big thank you to the entire team for this special moment. You saved our day and gave us a truly feel-good experience! See you soon and all the best!

We loved our evening at Katz Orange! From the fun cocktails to the creative deserts, everything was delicious. The cherry on top was our server.

Katz Orange was a wonderful experience overall. We made a reservation and were immediately seated upon arrive. If you are an english speaker, have a translator app handy because the alcohol menu is entirely in German. You don't want to do what I did and order the non-alcoholic beer and wonder why the beer is not beering... The brisket was VERY good; nice and tender with great flavor. They also have a house made ketchup which was kind of unique and worth trying if you're a foodie. Katz Orange 9/10

My wife and I went there for our anniversary dinner. We were hoping for a sincere, quality evening and also wanted to explore the gourmet side of Berlin. We weren’t looking for anything overly fancy, but definitely didn’t want anything too casual either. This place turned out to be more than perfect — from the food to the atmosphere, the service, and the overall experience. Whether you're celebrating something special or just want a great evening out, it really delivers. The food was incredible. Candy on Bone is a must-try — absolutely delicious. The salmon was also fantastic. You can tell they use high-quality ingredients, and the chef’s touch brings a modern twist to traditional flavors. The dishes aren’t overly complicated, but they’re beautifully done. I also strongly recommend the burrata and the scallops. The Potato Celery Tart is definitely worth tasting too. The ambiance, both inside and out in the garden, is fabulous. If the weather’s good, I’d definitely suggest getting a table in the garden — just note that outdoor dining is only allowed until 22:00 due to the residential area. After that, you can move inside and enjoy the rest of the evening with some of their amazing cocktails. Seriously, don’t skip the cocktails — they’re crafted really well and worth trying. One last note: it’s not a cheap place. But they do have the menu available online, so you can check it out beforehand. It’s a high-end restaurant, and it truly earns that label. It’s not overpriced — the quality matches the price, and it’s absolutely worth it. You won’t be disappointed.

Delicious food, extremely friendly and informal attentive service. Not cheap. We were with four people and could choose the chef's choice menu. You get a variation of what is on the menu per course. Recommended. Restaurant is located in a courtyard, four stops from Hauptbahnhof with M8 (get off at Pappelplatz) Nice to eat outside.

Food was good, mashed potatoes and sauce were good/ordinary. The seating in the lobby was too hectic, loud, and uncomfortable for us. The seat on the bench against the wall was too low. Service at the table was impersonal and inattentive. Hardly any communication, difficult to establish contact. No inquiries about satisfaction or further requests. We certainly would have liked one or two more glasses of wine. Ordered an espresso and dessert together. The espresso arrived, but the dessert came much later. Espresso without sugar or similar. The sommelier was very good. The receptionist was very friendly. Being cool when serving directly isn't cool. We won't be back.

A nice and cozy restaurant, too bad you get the feeling that it has to go fast. We already got our starter and hadn't gotten our aperitif yet. It's a small menu which doesn't bother you at all, but it is very expensive for what you get. Their siniature dish is their slow cooked pork or dry ages beef which is delicious. But to get a full dish you have to order several side dishes. Which makes it really expensive for me personally. The flavors are good and the food is delicious.

An original place in Mitte. Restaurant over two floors. Unconventionally furnished. The ground floor was not well lit for my taste, reading the menu was only possible with a cell phone lamp. It is significantly brighter on the first floor. As a starter I had mussels in a delicious, spicy and slightly spicy tomato sauce. The main course was an excellent sous-vide lamb, the side dish of mushrooms and pearl barley was a bit boring. The same applies to the shaved ice with five toppings, I found it a bit bland. The service there is consistently lovely.

The beef brisket with wrapped vegetables (I only saw 2 tiny pieces of radish (?) in a portion for two – so too little) was very tasty and tender. The lentil salad was good but much too cold for me. The price was still OK for Mitte, in my opinion. My guests and I found it much too loud in the room around the corner to the right. We asked for a quieter table, but it wasn't possible (OK, it was full). Nevertheless: I don't want to text in a restaurant to have a conversation. Maybe change the acoustics concept a bit – although I don't think there is one. I won't go there again because of the noise. The service was OK for me – I found it cool and not particularly warm/friendly.

Quite a limited menu and meat heavy but we really enjoyed the signature beef and pork dishes . The warm lentil salad and white asparagus were delicious . Lovely setting and excellent service . We would return .

The appetizers, on the other hand, were convincing across the board. The bread, scallops, and the salmon trout tartare offer a variety of flavors that leave you wanting more. The main courses had both good and bad points: The meat dishes – beef and Duroc pork – delighted with their taste and quality, while the vegetarian dish was a bitter disappointment. €24 for a simple oven-baked eggplant, served without any particular refinement, is simply unacceptable. An urgent revision of this option would be desirable to ensure that vegetarian guests also get their money's worth. Likewise, an earlier indication of the possibility of ordering more meat would have been helpful – especially when choosing starters. In terms of value for money, the picture remains mixed: While the meat dishes justify their price through quality, the starter selection is adequate. The eggplant, on the other hand, represents a significant point of criticism. Overall, a clear recommendation for non-vegetarians who want to enjoy fine dining. However, those looking for exceptional vegetarian options will be disappointed.

Hidden in the street and was renovated by a church! We’re here for celebrated birthday, and the atmosphere was perfect! The staffs were all cute and friendly, everything is good! We tried the buffalo burrata(I like the combination) and duroc pork, the cream for bread was also amazing:) Definitely will come back

The meal at Katz Orange was wonderful. The most pleasant discovery and surprise for me, as a meat lover, was the cauliflower in the main course. The perfect interplay of textures and flavors was a sensory feast. The menu was balanced and more than plentiful; each dish was special and recommendable in its own right. A small disappointment, but one that doesn't detract from the overall rating, was the somewhat unusual and unfortunately limited beer selection. A plus point here was that they at least had IPAs, although unfortunately no wheat beer (only non-alcoholic options were available) or pilsner. The service was friendly and accurate, but I deducted one point here because two of the three people who took turns serving us throughout the evening spoke only English, and only one person spoke German. Now comes the one point that unfortunately fell far short of all expectations: the acoustics of the dining room where we sat: I haven't experienced such noise since the Auerstein in Heidelberg or in a beer tent shortly before closing time. Conversation was only possible with a raised voice, if not completely impossible; the overall sound pressure was very loud and extremely exhausting. Something urgently needs to be done about this. My recommendation for this reason: A definite thumbs up for a visit, unless you sit in the room on the right. If it's summer, the seats in the beautiful courtyard are recommended. I will probably return; the food was truly fantastic.

This restaurant is a hidden gem in Berlin. I found it because it was suggested by an Italian blog. The environment is very cool starting from the setting, it is a former church. It all gave me vibes of exclusivity, not recommended if you're the trattoria type. The service is excellent, the waiters always pour your water and are helpful. We found an Italian waiter and communication was even more effective, in any case everyone speaks English. The main dish is the meat cooked at low temperature, so we tried both the beef and the pork accompanied by their cooking juice sauce. Good proposal also on the vegetable side. Bathrooms are dark and spectacular to me! Account in line with the offer.

You need to reserve a table in advance, as this is a preferred restaurant of the Berlin tech and media class. This is an upscale place which doesn’t mean you have to be dressed up. You can expect very good food, which comes with a price tag. To my opinion, it’s worth it. On top the building of the restaurant is a real landmark even for Mitte comparables. The interior of the restaurant is a gem.

A hidden gem in the heart of Berlin. We discovered this place on an online blog and decided to trust it. The place is "hidden" and is not one of the usual tourist places. Their specialty is meat (beef and pork) cooked at low temperatures. The portions are not huge, but they will offer you the second round of meat just in case. Io ci sono stata con il mio ragazzo e ho preso la tagliata che mi è arrivata fredda, il mio ragazzo il kats orange, buono ma dimenticabile. 2 calici di vino di proporzioni irrisorie, 2 patatine di cui una con salsa olio d’oliva e timo (pagata a parte 2 euro!) hanno reso l’esperienza scarsa. Sconsiglio

I visited this restaurant with my family and, unfortunately, had a disappointing experience. Our visit started with a misunderstanding about our table. While this wasn’t a major issue, it took the staff a while to sort it out ( we were among the first ones), and their attitude made us feel as if we were the ones not understanding—which is never a great approach toward customers. The service was slow, with a very long time between giving is the menus and taking the order and +30-minute wait between finishing our starters and receiving the main course. While the food looked nice, it lacked flavor and taste and certainly didn’t justify the high prices. Most dishes were heavily fried, which left us feeling unwell afterward. I had been really excited to try this place, but it ended up being **the only bad experience** during our five-day trip to Berlin. Sadly, I wouldn’t recommend it—perhaps only for a drink, but definitely not for a full meal, simply does not worth it.

Beautiful restaurant inside and out, with a very clever drinks menu. The signature Katz Apéritif was delicious. A solid start to any visit. I opted for the Duroc Pork, which can be scaled to feed multiple people, and second helpings are offered. As a side, I chose barley with mushrooms. Overall, the food was good, and the amount was the right amount for me. Where this restaurant fell short was in having chipped dishes and glassware. At this level, that should never happen. Also, service was rushed. Perhaps my server was not a fan of one person dining alone. It really felt like he could not get me out fast enough.

Even though we were recommended the “family feast”, we opted for individual courses. “sharing is caring” great dishes, where possible with regional references. Manageable wine list - but less is more. The desserts were exceptional and special.

It's really really good! The atmosphere of the restaurant is great. Obviously a lot of effort went into the interior design of this restaurant, it looks wonderful. The food is almost perfect, maybe my standards are too high, it's still really really good. Really good. Service was especially good. And special mention for the bartenders for making good cocktails and drinks recommendations. Would I come back? Yes definitely!

Great food but slow service, and a stuffy and extremely noisy environment. You could barely have a conversation. Not a place I would recommend to anyone for that reason, but it might be more enjoyable in small groups in the lower part of the restaurant.
