Wonderful, upscale Franconian cuisine, the service was superbly professional and attentive. The food was excellent, if not particularly surprising.

Great atmosphere, friendly and efficient staff. The portions were generously sized and very tasty. We'd love to come back!

The food was extremely salty, and to top it all off, you had to order a drink twice before it finally arrived after 35 minutes. If you're sensitive to flavor enhancers, this restaurant isn't recommended for you.

The food was good. The service was friendly, but not enough for the number of guests. It took quite a while for someone to come and get new drinks. But it was still okay. The acoustics in the room have also improved considerably since the last time. It's not exactly cozy in the large hall, though. Overall, though, that's a high-level complaint. So, it still gets 4 stars.

We asked for a quiet spot on Sunday evening. The waitress at the entrance to the beer garden had a stone face, meaning he wasn't even slightly (friendly) about the guests arriving! It was incredibly loud in the large hall at the back, and we asked for a quiet table at the edge. This request was declined on the grounds that four or six more guests COULD arrive and take up the table. There were two tables of six that were completely empty half an hour before the kitchen closed. Hospitality is different, and here it's very dependent on the staff present! What a shame!

We visited twice during our vacation and enjoyed excellent meals both times. Super friendly and attentive staff. We'll definitely go back next time we're in the area.

The food is delicious. There are classics like schnitzel, but also many other dishes like salmon teriyaki style or pretzel dumpling carpaccio. It's also great for vegetarians. I don't know if there are any vegan options. The service is excellent. Nice, refined, but not too fancy. The atmosphere was also very friendly to our children. It's good value for money. It would be nice if there were a small play area for children.

Highly recommended! Unfortunately, I only photographed the appetizer (pretzel dumpling carpaccio with salad and balsamic dressing)! The main course was a vegetable schnitzel with spaetzle, mushrooms, and a cream sauce. Absolutely delicious!

Beautiful outdoor area and prompt service! Three of us went for dinner at the beginning of September during the school holiday season. They offer two dining options: 5:00-7:00 p.m. and from 7:00 p.m. onward. We went at 5:00 p.m. and it was packed! The service and kitchen did a great job, but the cream sauce for the chanterelle mushrooms was curry (not listed on the menu) was a disappointment.

We ate there twice and can recommend it to everyone. Be sure to make a reservation. The staff is great.

Great food, but the service left a lot to be desired. It started out great, with the food arriving at the same time and constant checks to see if everything was okay. Then we sat for 25 minutes with empty glasses, and the dessert menu never arrived. The restaurant wasn't overly busy, and there were enough wait staff on site. So, there's no tipping.

My very first impression upon arrival was that the service in the beer garden was a bit overwhelmed by the number of guests. We had to wait a bit longer to be shown to our reserved table and finally served. BUT: as I said, that was only the first impression. The food was simply a 12/10 (from the appetizer to dessert, everything was simply delicious and beautifully presented), and the waiter who was in charge of our table was very attentive to our needs. A big thank you to him, and the ambiance of the beer garden is also really great. Bottom line: we'll definitely be back 👍.

We last visited Kastanienhof in 2019. The food was already very good back then, and it's honestly a shame I have to drive 300 km to eat here. This time, too, the meal was fantastic! We had shoulder of pork with dumplings! The salads are also delicious! Men and women can go there because it's delicious 😉

The Kastanienhof in Pleinfeld is our favorite place for truly good German cuisine! Whether you're just a spontaneous visit with eight people or just two, there's always a seat right away and no wait. The food is homemade, honest, and incredibly delicious. My highlight was the venison – tender and incredibly good! The service is super friendly and always has a quick quip ready. If you're not happy here, you simply have no taste. Absolutely recommended!

Unfortunately, it's not as good as in previous years. The food was mediocre, very bland, and seasoned without refinement. The service was at times completely inexperienced or indifferent. Although we had a reservation for the outdoor area, we had to sit in the non-air-conditioned indoor area. Minutes later, the beer garden was "opened" again. Seating here is probably also tactical. There are many good restaurants around Lake Brombach, so we will definitely look for an alternative for the next few years.

The food itself tastes delicious. However, on Easter Monday, seven of us went there for a family meal. Five of us felt less well. Vomiting, diarrhea, and stomach cramps. (Everyone who ate a dish with sauce.) When we called to give feedback, the manager couldn't even bring herself to say "sorry." She came across as rather arrogant and smug. I don't know what was worse, the food or the reaction.

The food was very good and of high quality. We sat in the beer garden, slightly elevated but located on the street. Our server was often very careful not to look at us. Despite plenty of free tables in the beer garden, people were turned away or only given 1.5-hour slots to eat. This was a challenge given the service.

We never even got to dinner. The entrance was a rude and annoyed experience, even though the place was almost empty. Guests approached us and told us they'd rarely experienced such inconvenience and unfriendliness. The waiter obviously enjoys giving guests the worst seats in the blazing sun, even though the place was empty.

As tourists in the area, we went to the Kastanienhof two evenings in a row. The food was excellent, the selection was extensive, and the staff was very friendly. The ambiance was a slight drawback, as the streets leading past it seemed to be popular with car and motorcycle posers to show off the noise of their machines. This might bother more sensitive people during a relaxed dinner.

Reservations are recommended. The food is good, the service friendly. The wait for the food, despite only moderate business and a 45-minute gap between ordering the salad and the oyster mushrooms and their arrival, is a real bummer. The dining room, "Saal," is unfortunately quite noisy, which is difficult for me, as someone with post-COVID symptoms, to bear, but that's my problem. The decor is nice.

We haven't had such good German food in a long time! There were five of us, and everyone was thoroughly impressed. Even the salad had a great dressing and tasted really good. And the dumplings were also really great (my all-time favorite anyway) 😍 From the appetizer to the dessert, they were simply delicious and highly recommended! Although we've been to Pleinfeld quite often in the past, we weren't familiar with the Kastanienhof. But now we know: we'll be back next time :-)

We were visiting a campsite in the area and stumbled upon this restaurant by chance. There were twelve of us, and we all received our orders within 30 minutes. We all had different dishes, and everyone would order them again. There was nothing to complain about, and the prices matched the quality. We went there again for dinner on the day we left; everyone ordered a different dish and was completely satisfied. Two thoroughly enjoyable visits, thank you very much. Reservations are absolutely essential!

The sauce for the roast veal was too salty. The dumplings were very good, the meat was okay. When we pointed out that the sauce was too salty, the waiter said, "No one has complained about it today!" Yes! We have! A "Sorry, I'll let the chef know," would have been enough for us. Our advice: hide the salt, train the waiters.

The sanitary facilities were also clean. The prices were absolutely fine. We can only highly recommend this place! If we're in the region again, we'll come by! You immediately notice that someone with a true service mentality works here – a big compliment to the gentleman who served us! There were four of us (including my daughter) for dinner. I had the beef roulade with dumplings and an extra portion of potato salad – everything was excellently prepared and absolutely delicious. My companions had shoulder of pork and schnitzel, and these dishes were also consistently very good. 👉 Five stars for the taste – without reservation. The only thing I personally noticed was that the portions could be a bit larger. However, considering the price and the high quality, that's just complaining at a high level. Conclusion: An all-around successful experience – great food, great service, and a pleasant atmosphere. I'll definitely be back!

The food was good, but the service staff wasn't exactly friendly. The fact that reservations can only be made for two hours at 5 p.m. and 7 p.m. seems very strange and unnecessary to the guest. At 6:30 p.m., the beer garden is empty, and walk-ins can't get a table... incomprehensible! This deducts a star.

The restaurant has an upscale feel, and the food looks and tastes great. Unfortunately, the service doesn't quite match that, and children are especially not welcome. But it's worth a visit for adults.

We only had a short stay to use the charging station. The staff were extremely friendly and accommodating to our request for a seat, just for a drink. Although it was lunchtime and the dining room was already quite full, we decided to have a wedding soup instead. It was delicious and had some very good side dishes (pancakes, liver dumplings, semolina dumplings, and small choux pastry dumplings). Despite the small turnover, all the staff served us courteously and kindly. We will definitely come back here again, as the dishes ordered by other guests also looked very good and fresh. The dining room was also friendly and well-kept, inviting all around. Thank you very much!
