This restaurant deserves 10 out of 5 stars. We received a very warm welcome and were seated immediately, even though we hadn't reserved. After a 2-3 minute wait, the starter arrived. The side salad was one of the best I've ever had, and the sauerbraten was simply amazing. The meat was super tender, the sauce delicious, and plentiful. My wife's shoulder of pork was equally excellent. They even treated our four-legged friend to a Schmaggo (smothered pork). The service was very attentive and pleasant. The ambiance was the icing on the cake. Highly recommended!

We were there in 2024 and 2025. The food was delicious, the prices were reasonable. Excellent service, and the team worked together well. Keep it up, we'll be back.

Today, May 1st, I was lucky without a reservation and got a nice spot in the shade in the beer garden. It's rare to find such friendly, courteous service. Drinks arrived quickly and well chilled. The food was really very good. ROULADE, SCHÄUFERL, CORDON BLEU are all TOP. Thank you, we'll be back

We went there spontaneously, so we didn't have a reservation. We got a table without any problems, although it was shortly after opening time. This can of course become tricky later on as the dining room filled up quickly. The service was great. Everyone very friendly and helpful. The food is also just great. My husband had the roulade and is not usually easy to get excited about, but he thought it was great. The sauce was also absolutely delicious, he would have liked to take a bucket of it home with him ;) I was also impressed by the vegetarian dishes, so everyone is sure to find something they like. If we're ever in the area again, we'd be happy to do so again.

The "Kastanienhof" is not a traditional Franconian country inn, but an example of very modern and professional gastronomy. So if you are looking for a rustic country inn with rustic and good cuisine, you may not be completely satisfied here; However, if you are looking for a large and clean restaurant where you will be served quickly, if you are satisfied with (good) average culinary standards, you will also be satisfied here. Conclusion: Maybe a bit cold and impersonal, but overall still recommended.

Wir hatten seit 2 Wochen für Ostersamstag mit einer 25-köpfigen Gruppe reserviert. Bei überraschend gutem Wetter kam man unserem Wunsch nach einem Tisch im Biergarten unkompliziert entgegen. Der Service war schnell, akkurat und mit einer gewaltigen Prise Humor gewürzt. Da fühlt man sich sofort gut aufgehoben, großes Kompliment dafür. Das ebenso große Kompliment gilt der Küche, unsere Essen waren herausragend gut. Die Schäufela knusprig und butterzart, die Rouladen saftig und perfekt gefüllt, dazu klasse Zwiebelrostbraten, Schnitzel und vieles andere. Allesamt waren wir begeistert. Für Nachtisch war bei den Portionen leider kein Platz mehr. Auch bei den schönen und sauberen WCs mussten keine Abstriche gemacht werden. Vielen Dank, wir kommen sehr gerne wieder!

We were a group of 25 people. We had reserved, but wanted to sit in the beer garden because of the nice weather. The crew made this possible immediately and put all the tables together for us. As soon as the drinks were ordered, they were there, and the food went just as quickly. Our entire group agreed that the food was terrific. Absolutely recommended!

Das Essen im Kastanienhof ist absolut auf hohem Niveau und kann ich jedem nur empfehlen der auf wirklich frische und leckere Küche steht. Die Bedienungen sind auch Zack und durch den Anbau (großen Saal) ist auch Platz für größere Festlichkeiten.

Four of us were there for dinner and received a friendly welcome. We sat in the large hall. Unfortunately it is a bit noisy there but since we were sitting in a corner it was completely fine. The drinks and food came quickly and everything tasted great. I would have found it even better if the potato rosti had been homemade too. The chocolate mousse for dessert is highly recommended

Very big crowds on Christmas Day, as expected! Food took a while, but it arrived at everyone's table almost at the same time. Food was good to very good. The space in the large hall was a bit loud and uncomfortable, but the greater distance to the neighboring tables was very pleasant.

Disastrous stay. We had dinner there on December 26th. I understand that Christmas is more stressful and busier. Also that the waiting time is longer, but we waited 1.75 hours for our food. Wouldn't have been a problem if the staff had been a little friendlier. When we first asked whether there was still goose breast, the waiter replied bluntly, “I have no idea”. When we asked after 1.5 hours how long the meal would last, the waitress just said “I don’t know”. In my opinion, that's not possible at all and they could have tried it here and, above all, answered the guest differently. Since there was no insight at the end or even a small apology with, for example, an espresso on the house, which could have made up for it all, we will never see this restaurant again!

After 20 years, I come back to Pleinfeld and I tried the restaurant Kastanienhof I have to say we ordert a lot of food to try the German cuisine .We had a special request about appetizers and they did a wonderful great job. Thanks so much and the appetizer platter was fabulous !!!!!! The main dishes was excellent and all the requests what we had was very tasteful and they did the excellent job .The only little downside was, they had not so much high end liquor , but next time I will send him a message to buy that what we wanna drink 😉 We had so much fun with all my friends in the Kastanienhof ,and we was the last one they get out of this restaurant. Everyone who wanna have a great time. ,I highly recommend this restaurant and all the Food choices what we did was fantastic .The Employees was very helpful and on top of everything thank you so much to all of them to make us a great time in Germany. We went to the Kastanienhof for the Christmas party. It was perfect all around. Great food and great service.

We were there on our summer vacation in 2024. The restaurant is really big, with a hall and beer garden. The dishes are predominantly Franconian, but there are also alternatives. The prices are reasonable, even for the drinks. The service is quick, but I forgot a drink and had to be reminded - it can happen, no problem. There were always a lot of service staff on site and there seemed to be a lot of training going on there, which is always commendable. We can highly recommend the Kastanienhof, you will have a lovely evening there. Enjoy it.

Unfortunately very disappointed steak was ok but salad had almost no dressing. Two waiters ordered more dressing but they apparently didn't feel like or want to add a bit of dressing. Apparently asking too much I like to eat salad but I've never had one like that so only 1 star that could have been avoided can

The hall offers a very nice ambience, pleasantly lit and nicely furnished. The service was top. You were served quickly and they always checked to see if everything was okay. Food was very good. The roulades are very tender and tasty. Curd cheese strudel is also great

We were there for the class reunion with 20 people on September 21, 2024. Everything was excellently organized and prepared with coffee. The service staff was friendly and always available. The best Franconian cuisine I have eaten so far. The selection of vegetarian dishes is comparatively large and fits in with the rest of the menu. The food comes quickly and is beautifully prepared. Pleasant modern ambience, but I suspect that it gets noisy in the large hall when there is a lot going on. Courteous service - everything was great

Highly recommended onion roast!

Wir waren direkt an zwei aufeinanderfolgenden Abenden hier, was die nachfolgende Beschreibung eigentlich schon überflüssig macht. Hier passt einfach alles. Schön eingerichtetes Lokal mit Biergarten (für den leider nicht das passende Wetter war), die Karte bietet viele lokale Fleischgerichte, aber auch einige kreative vegetarische Gerichte. Der Service war professionell, flott und sehr freundlich. Das Essen war durchweg hervorragend zu, in Anbetracht der Qualität, moderaten Preisen. Note 1 mit Stern.

In a few words: to recommend, everything was organized, everything worked for a group of 50 people. Food super tasty. 👍

Nice restaurant with a beer garden

Wir wurden rausgeworfen, da nicht reserviert und wir uns einfach an einen freien, nicht reservierten Tisch setzten Um 17.30 Uhr versucht telefonisch zu reservieren, ging keiner ran Gegen 18 Uhr einfach rein, welche Anmassung- einfach ne Gaststube zu betreten und dann noch dazu sich an einen, freien nicht reservierten Tisch zu setzen Erste junge weibl. Bedienung hat gefragt ob wir angemeldet wären - Nein - Ist dann noch hinten verschwunden, dort entbrannte ein kurzer heftiger Disbut mir einem männlichen Kollegen. Unangenehm für alle Der Kollege hat uns dann belehrt !! 1. Man muß sich anmelden, irgendwie an anderem Eingang Ansonsten wird man nicht bedient etc 2. Der Eingang, stand nirgendwo darf nicht genommen werden 3. Der Tisch ist reserviert??? Sozusagen Rauswurf. Vor 30 Jahren hätte ich diesem jungen Mann , mit seinen schlechten Manieren konfrontiert Heute im gesetzten Alter - besucht man solche Lokation einfach nicht mehr Pleinfeld und ihre soo schönen Seen 🥱👎 Gibt schönere und saubere Seen In Deutschland mit besseren Lokations

The food is very good and is reasonably priced. Even as a new guest you will be called by the staff, which doesn't really go down well with guests who are obviously pensioners... The atmosphere in the old building is very attractive and cozy, but in the annex (hall) it is very loud. The more people there are talking, the louder you have to speak, which makes it less comfortable. Nice outside area.

First of all, a great location! Unfortunately, the reception was a bit cold and unfriendly, even though we had reserved. As a starter we had pretzel dumpling carpaccio and a salad, followed by a very tasty Schäuffele and a veal roll roast with dumplings. We ordered white cabbage with it. Everything was honestly delicious. Service quick and very friendly. Priced in the upper midfield. Highly recommended.

We were guests at the Kastanienhof on our summer vacation. We were 6 adults and 6 children. Our table was set in the tastefully decorated interior. Despite the high number of visitors, the service was great and very friendly. Especially recommended for families. The children's food was served first. The price-performance ratio is unbeatable. We have rarely been served such good, high quality food at a fair price. A big compliment to the kitchen and the great service. We'll definitely come back at some point.

A good restaurant with very good food Side salad was great Fresh chanterelles with Bavarian dumplings were a lot and also something to behold. Cordonbleu with fries was very juicy but a little weakly seasoned. The building is getting old and needs some TLC. Flagpoles should be a figurehead but they are also more than just neglected. But otherwise all in all it was a great evening with good and fresh food.

The staff was a bit strange because I came alone and without a reservation, that was more of a problem, otherwise very satisfied, good food, and the Franconian schnapps is recommended.

The restaurant is modernly furnished. The toilets are also modern and clean. The staff is very friendly. The food is very tasty and attractively prepared. Many high chairs are available for small children. There are also a lot of children's meals to choose from. Definitely recommended.

We sat in the beer garden with a lot of people that evening and the atmosphere was quite nice. When my son got the children's meal, the waiter said that he should get started because the other meal "would take an hour to be ready anyway" (shaming the restaurant you work at is probably not that good of a skill). There was no vegan dish on the menu, so we politely asked the young waiter (black hair, short, slim) if they had anything vegan and they got a rude answer and a long explanation as to why they no longer offer vegan food. No alternative was offered, but "vegetables without sauce", which was obviously not meant seriously and the waiter just made inappropriate comments about my daughter eating vegan, which pretty much embarrassed her. Additionally, another man at our table was treated strangely by the waiter because he ordered a salad. I think that as a waiter it is very inappropriate to comment on someone's eating habits, he has clearly crossed the line and the waiter's humor cannot be understood by everyone either.
