Sehr schöner Biergarten, leckeres Essen, aber der Ton, den die ältere Wirtin (die beiden jüngeren sind sehr freundlich) an den Tag legt disqualifiziert die Lokalität leider... schade, denn der Rest stimmt und der Wanderweg ist auch ganz toll.

Tolle Lokation zum Essen. Sind kurzentschlossen nach einer Radtour vorbeigekommen und essen gegangen. Endlich Mal wieder ein Schnitzel wie es sich gehört. Dort paniert und in der Pfanne ausgebacken. Die Medaillons vom Schwein wunderbar. Pfefferrahmsauce separat auf Wunsch. Ausreichend zum Satt werden.Herz was willst du mehr. Eine gerechtfertigte Empfehlung 👍

Ich bin eigentlich kein Mensch für schlechte Bewertungen, aber auch kein Mensch der sonst einfach aufsteht und geht. Aber gibt immer ein erstes Mal. Waren bei hohen Temperaturen Wandern, durstig und kamen dann auf die anscheinend verrückte Idee, im Kammerhof wo vorne „Biergarten“ steht was zu trinken. Irre ich weiß. Begrüßung gab es nicht wirklich, und als uns rausgerutscht war das wir nur was trinken wollen wurde erst mal vom Personal nachgefragt ob das überhaupt ginge. Hab ich auch noch NIE erlebt und macht direkt Bock da Zeit und Geld zu lassen. Haben uns dann natürlich auch selbst nen freien Platz gesucht (War zu vllt 2/3 ausgelastet) Wurden erst mal lange von mehren Bedienungen übersehen, an den Punkt sag ich aber okay, je nach Situation kann das mal passieren. Dann kommt Bedienung A, fragt was wir trinken möchten. Da wir aber noch nicht wusste was wir trinken, es kostet oder vielleicht doch auf was leckeres umschwenken wollen haben wir nach ner Karte gefragt. Die Bedienung wirkte perplex, verwirrt und genervt, sagte aber großzügigerweise zu. Wir haben sie nie wieder gesehen. 5min später Bedienung B. Genau das selbe Spiel, wirkte aber noch schockierter. Beide gingen dann weiter andere Kunden bedienen und als nach 15min keine der Beiden eine Karte brachte sind wir gegangen. Bei aller Liebe, ich hab mich noch nie so unwohl und unerwünscht gefühlt. Echt schade weil das Essen sah gut aus und wir hätte vielleicht noch spontan was bestellt. Sind dann aber lieber völlig durstig die restlichen 45min zum Hotel gelaufen

Ganz spontan entdeckt, nachdem wir im Kupferbergwerk waren. Sehr freundlicher Service, sehr leckeres Essen, große Portionen, die alle satt werden ließen. Unheimlich kinderfreundlich. Im Garten schattige Plätze und Spielmöglichkeit. Wir würden jederzeit wiederkommen!

The goulash soup was from a can and lukewarm. The schnitzel sauce was from a packet. The salad was ice cold and mediocre. The schnitzel and fries are worth mentioning. But I can get better ones at any snack bar. Ambiente 1960 I'll only go back in an absolute emergency.

Personal so unfreundlich und unmotiviert. War mit meinem Bruder und einer Freundin dort um was zu trinken und essen zu holen für unterwegs. Selbst die Begrüßung war unter aller sau wie wir da ankamen. Wir hatten einen Betrag von etwa 6,50€ und wurden voll abgezogen von denen in dem wir 13€ zahlen mussten. Kuchen war naja, nicht schlecht aber auch nicht gut. Der Boden war zu trocken und nicht genussvoll. Uns werden die da nie wieder sehen!! Sucht euch was anderes.

Gemütliches Ambiente und nette Bedienung. Sehr feines, gut bürgerliches Essen und wir haben nur einmal etwas länger warten müssen, da viel Betrieb war, was für sich spricht. Gehen gerne und öfter dorthin essen. Lage ist etwas außerhalb und mit schönem Biergarten 😊. Sehr zu empfehlen.

Personal war bemüht und freundlich. Das Essen war an sich auch lecker aber die Schnitzel waren viel zu dick und dementsprechend zäh. Außerdem gab es einen daumendicken Fettrand am Schnitzel

The food was mediocre overall, and the prices were on the high side. The sauces for the schnitzel were unfortunately not very convincing. On a positive note, the very friendly and attentive service was worth mentioning. However, it was cold inside because the heating was off and the door was open. Plenty of parking is available. Overall, not good value for money and the food was only mediocre, hence an average rating.

I'm always completely amazed by this excellent cuisine. The service is excellent, and I can only recommend it to everyone.

The food was okay. The manager is not a nice person. The waiter was okay. We had to wait an hour for our food. There was a hair in the ice cream... No one apologized, no one offered us a new portion, not to mention that we didn't have to pay for the ice cream as compensation... Poor waiter... Never again... that was the first and last time...

We've rarely been greeted so warmly and courteously. In sunny weather, we found a seat in the well-filled beer garden. We were warned that we'd have to be prepared for a longer wait for our food. But with a delicious, perfectly chilled beer, the time passed quickly. The food (a snack for us after hiking) was delicious. The price/performance ratio was absolutely perfect.

The wait was long, but signs on the door also indicate they're desperately searching for waitstaff. The food, however, is absolutely excellent. The Kammerhof schnitzel is so big even a small eater won't be able to finish it. But what refined flavor! Absolutely delicious food at reasonable prices.

A very idyllically located restaurant with a wonderfully beautiful summer garden. The menu offers such a wide selection that everyone is guaranteed to find something. The service is very friendly and good. I ate a pork loin grilled over beechwood. I haven't had such a delicious meal in a long time. The meat was juicy and wonderfully absorbed the beechwood grill flavor. When I ordered it, I would never have guessed it was actually a whole pork loin.

One of those extremely rare, honest restaurants. No frills, just veeeery delicious schnitzel variations 😋👍🏻 And the spit roast is also highly recommended! Advance reservations are recommended due to its popularity. Service is very attentive and fast. It's easily accessible and ideally situated for lovely walks. Always happy to return ☺️

The beer garden's ambiance is dated and uninviting. The food is mediocre, the schnitzel is borderline peppery, the seniors' plate is €2 cheaper, but the schnitzel is one less... Rose spritzer €7.90. A place of "Schoppen"? More like a place of profiteering. Cheeky.

THE BEST RESTAURANT in Idar-Oberstein!! I used to eat at this secluded, creekside gem as a child 50-years ago. Well-renowned for its SpieBbraten (beef and pork grilled on a spinning grate over an open fire), it was my Father’s favorite restaurant. Now - as an adult - I can see and taste why. If going with family or a group of friends, I highly recommend their SpieBbraten Platter. The €115 dish for 4, includes 4 mixed salads and is a delicious bargain for what you are served.

After a bike ride, we enjoyed a delicious meal and a drink. Great service, a wonderful atmosphere, and a super friendly, open-minded staff, even for children.

Yes, very cozy, rustic, and wonderful food. I really enjoyed it.

From the service to the prices to the quality of the food, I can't think of a single positive aspect. The manager barked at us at the reception. The service was neither attentive nor friendly. When we pointed out that some dishes weren't served at all and others were served incorrectly, the response was a roll of the eyes instead of an apology. Empty glasses were also ignored. The meat was stringy, tough, and cooked far beyond the requested point (both entrecotes and the rump steak). Neither the quality of the meat nor the preparation could justify the prices charged.

Unfortunately, today was a complete disaster. One of the dishes we ordered never arrived. When we asked about it at the counter, we were rudely turned away. Two of the beef dishes were unfortunately inedible because the meat tasted sour and old. We didn't pay for those either. We did receive drinks after asking several times. In total, we were forced to sit there for 2.5 hours and wait for our food. If you're packed on a day like today, maybe you should refrain from the à la carte business and only offer three or four dishes that you can actually make. This helps both the understated wait staff and the chefs. It's a real shame. Because it was a terrible end to an otherwise wonderful day. We won't be going there again!

The food and service were excellent, although it was noticeable that the staff was understaffed. That can happen, and you could tell the service was very attentive. The portions were generous, so everything was good. There was a slight mix-up with the dessert, but the restaurant rectified it immediately.

Two of us went out to eat. One dish was completely overcooked and dry, and the other dish was old and inedible. The waitress noticed, but the manager wasn't able to come over and comment, despite the restaurant being relatively quiet.

We ate very tasty, freshly pounded onion schnitzels here today. There were 2 large pieces, well seasoned, enough croquettes and a very fresh salad plate with radish, carrot, cucumber and green salad with radish wedges. The young gentleman who served us was friendly and quick.

The last thing: the boss was rude and the guests were rude. Even if I wanted to, I couldn't get such a dry piece of meat off the grill. Very long waiting time, although not excessively busy. Never again!!!

I cannot agree with both reviewers. I was also there at Easter 2025 and there was nothing to complain about. Service top and friendly, food prompt and tasty. A smile with every plate, almost as big as the portions 😆 🥩👌🏻 Have the rest packed up, no problem. Highly recommended as a hiking stop. And dog friendly! 🐶

I don't normally give reviews of a restaurant. But here it is time to write something. I have never experienced such unfriendly service (could have been the boss). As you can guess from the description of the nearby hiking trail, hikers are not welcome in the area. That was exactly my experience. Although there were still places in the beer garden and guests who were leaving offered us their place, this older, unfriendly lady said no. My son and I then waited exactly 17 minutes to leave the restaurant because the service apparently wasn't allowed to serve hikers. In Idar Obersstein itself we had a delicious lunch and then treated ourselves to some ice cream. But we'll never come to Kammerhof again. As a hiker, please avoid this location. There are better and, above all, friendlier restaurants not far away from there.

That was nothing. Easter 2025 staff completely overloaded and disorganized. Main course still not in sight after 2 hours. Sometimes we get food from the other table in between. Aborted after more than 2 hours. Sorry, needs to be better. Fewer day guests and/or reservations would be the solution with fresh staff.

We just ate here, as we often do, and it was, as always, very good. Despite the mourning company, everything was fine. It's not for nothing that we are absolutely satisfied regular customers.

The service was really great and pleasant, but my schnitzel with mushroom sauce for €20 was a schnitzel with canned mushrooms and a ready-made sauce that came out of the bag. Even after complaining, they didn't even bother to apologize or offer a discount on rifles. It used to be really good food for a good price but unfortunately not anymore. In addition, the owner at the reception counter was rude and rude. This restaurant is really no longer recommended.

The drinks were provided with an unreasonable delay. The waiter with the mustache was clearly overwhelmed due to order mix-ups and serving schnitzel that was cooked too dark and responded to questions in an unprofessional and vulgar manner. If there is a shortage of staff or guests have to change their appointments at short notice, the restaurant should be able to handle such situations through professional organization and customer-oriented measures. P.S. A rapid supply of drinks is essential for customer satisfaction and the economic success of the company. To our general regret, we were not satisfied with the ambience.

I was there once on the recommendation of friends, there were 3 of us eating, I had a roast beef medium, it should have been medium, unfortunately it was more English, Service was quite ok.

There were 8 people there. Well, there have been better times. My food was delicious. Unfortunately, my friend was brought a bad-smelling, probably rotten piece of spit roast, which of course went back. You lose your appetite. Portions are plenty but also very expensive . Some of the other people's food was half black. I had a cola that had already expired for 4 weeks, as such drinks are served in bottles. I have mentioned this several times. There was no apology nor was I given a replacement and I also had to pay for it. Maybe it would be good if the health department would visit there. In any case, we decided not to go there anymore.

From the outside it's a restaurant like you can find in many places. Mostly with mediocre food and service. Here, however, there is absolutely warm and friendly service and very tasty and plentiful food. I really struggled with my portion. The facility is a little old.

Unfortunately our visit to this restaurant was a big disappointment. When we arrived we were not given a warm welcome at all. The owner was very unfriendly and gave the impression that we were more of a nuisance than welcome. During our entire stay we felt like we received very little attention, and when we did, it was in a rather annoyed manner. Questions or requests were not answered in a friendly manner, but were rather perceived as a burden. The service left a lot to be desired and we had the feeling that our concerns were simply ignored. It's a shame that people are treated like this here. It is clear to us that we will not visit this restaurant again. Customer friendliness definitely looks different.

Unfortunately, our visit to this restaurant was anything but pleasant. Shortly after our arrival we noticed that people behind the counter were gossiping about guests - unfortunately also about us. It was hard to miss how disparaging people were talking about other visitors, which immediately gave us a very uncomfortable feeling. The owner and staff didn't seem to make any effort to be discreet. Such disrespectful behavior towards guests is absolutely unacceptable. Instead of behaving professionally and creating a pleasant atmosphere, it was made clear that people would rather make fun of the guests here. We were very disappointed and will definitely not be coming back. We have never encountered such disrespect before.

Our visit to this restaurant was an absolute disgrace. After a short time we found hair in our food, which completely spoiled our appetite. When we brought this to the attention of the staff, not even an apology was offered. Instead, our concerns were dismissed as if they were completely normal. Even worse was the condition of the kitchen, which we briefly glimpsed when the door was open. The hygienic conditions were catastrophic there - dirty surfaces, food leftovers lying around and an overall unkempt appearance. It's really a mystery to us how work can be done here. Hygiene should be a top priority in the catering industry, but unfortunately that doesn't seem to be the case here. We will definitely never come back and can only advise anyone not to visit this restaurant.

After a long hike, we were unfortunately greeted here in a very unfriendly manner, without saying “Hello” or anything similar. We would have liked to eat something there, but since a "busload of seniors" arrived shortly after us, we were still allowed to drink something, but that was the only thing possible. For a restaurant right on the hiking trail, I found the staff very unfriendly. If you expect a large group and don't have the capacity, you should write to "Closed Party" or communicate with people in a friendly manner. By the way, the cold drinks we ordered were lukewarm.

It's very good and the service is very nice

Spit roast used to be great. Juicy and perfectly fried. Now unfortunately more like rubber. Could hardly cut the meat. But the ambience was OK and the service was super friendly.

Food was ok, unfortunately my schnitzel was a bit dark. We are currently very expensive everywhere. Price for 0.75l water 3.50 absolutely great, we have seen completely different prices in Idar Oberstein. Ambience with plastic chairs and tables outside could be nicer.

Goods to the gemstone and goldsmith market in Idar-Oberstein. It felt like every single seat in the city center was reserved...luckily! Friendly people, great ambience in the middle of the forest (with the sound of the river for free) and the food is homemade. If you want to eat Schwenker, then definitely here. Zo'n onvriendelijke vrouw! Hadden gevraagd of we konden lunchen maar werden vals aangekeken en kortaf ja gerageerd, buitenzitten werd nee geschud, zijn omgedraaid en weggegaan. Het is gedatteerd en de vrouw liep in een tshirt zwetend en puffend, erg onaantrekkelijk. Locatie is prachtig, zeker na een wandeling maar helaas.

The asparagus with roast beef and boiled potatoes was excellent. Very nice service and rustic atmosphere.

It is in a quiet location directly on the Nahe. You can eat very well there. The menu is large and everyone will find something. It's best to reserve a table in advance by phone. There is a hiking trail nearby.

Sehr netter Empfang. Gut gelauntes Personal. Getränke kamen schnell. Für das Essen etwas Zeit einplanen, da alles frisch zubereitet wird. Gemischter Salat sehr gut. Alle Speisen die uns serviert wurden waren sehr lecker. Preis -Leistungsverhältnis sehr gut. Portionen sind sehr groß, was aber normal ist in Idar Oberstein.Alles in allem; ein gelungener Abend. Wir kommen wieder.

Very good location and great ambience

I do not understand the overall rating of the restaurant. I went to dozens of restaurants in Germany and this was the worst experience. Are the regional demands in the city of gems so low? All the rooms smell of mustiness and cigarettes. The food is of a lower standard than at the swimming pool in Nové Zámky. Nothing was wrong except the drinks. Not even coffee. Never ever.

We eat at Kammerhof once or twice a year, and we did so again yesterday. When the weather is nice, we like to sit in the cozy beer garden under the large parasols, with the rippling of the Nahe river in the background. I would describe the restaurant as an insider tip because it is outside the city, in the middle of nature, and you don't just happen to drive past here by chance. The waitresses are very friendly and attentive. Shortly after you sit down at the table, the menu is brought to you and your drink order is taken. Since we have been there several times, we have eaten different dishes there. The specialty of the house is without a doubt the meat dishes from the open beech fire: pork neck, pork loin, roast beef, entrecote or mole (for all non-Hunsrück residents, these are mini rolled pork roasts), all grilled to perfection. Yesterday I had another rump steak with onions and mushrooms. The quality of the meat is very good, and the size of the steaks leaves nothing to be desired. The taste of the meat is always very well seasoned and fried to perfection. We will definitely continue to enjoy coming here to eat.

We were there again on Saturday - and it was great as always! The food was delicious! The service was friendly and attentive! Always worth a visit! We'll be back!

Es ist eine tolle Lokalität. Auf der Speisekarte ist für jeden etwas drauf . Es ist sehr Köstlich und Reichlich . Obersteiner Schwenkbraten sehr lecker Das Restaurant ist vom Chef sehr liebevoll eingerichtet bzw dekoriert. Vor allem in der Weihnachtszeit eine Augenweide. Sehr viel kostenlose Parkplätze und an dem Fluß Nähe sehr Idyllisch gelegen .

Wenn ihr einmal eure Ruhe haben möchtet, wenn ihr einmal sehr gut essen möchtet, wenn ihr einmal die Natur und die Nahe genießen möchtet, wenn ihr einmal freundlich bedient werden möchtet, wenn ihr einmal gegrilltes Fleisch gebraten auf einem Buchenholzfeuer haben möchtet und immer frisch zubereitete Mahlzeiten haben möchtet, dann seit ihr hier richtig. Man muss etwas Zeit mitbringen, da wie gesagt alles frisch zubereitet wird. Ich kann euch versprechen es lohnt sich. Einzig die Zufahrt ist etwas holprig, dafür seit ihr aber mitten in der Natur, ohne Verkehrs- und Larmbelästigung. Auf geht's, ihr werdet es nicht bereuen.
