A restaurant visit amidst a historic Aachen building complex! The "Kaiser-Wetter-Kapuziner Karree" restaurant is centrally located in the city center, within a modernized building complex that last underwent final renovations in the early 2000s. Originally, most of the building complex was the old post office, which was originally accessible by mail vans at the beginning of the 20th century. The building was originally part of the Aachen General Post Office. The complex on Kapuzinergraben was built between 1889 and 1893. Today, the entire building complex, constructed in the Neo-Romanesque style with a light-colored brick facade, is used as a mixed office, retail, medical practice, and post office building. Several restaurants invite you to visit the inner courtyard. Across the street is Aachen's largest cinema (Cineplex). The Kaiserwetter, with its tasteful and spacious interiors and diverse selection of Mediterranean and international dishes, is a popular meeting place in Aachen and certainly enriches the Aachen culinary scene. In the warmer months, it's lovely to sit in the courtyard of the Kapuziner-Karrée with its beautiful historic facades and enjoy the delicious, freshly prepared meals. Steak, salmon, shrimp, and panna cotta are particularly tasty. Pizzas are also listed on the menu. If you're looking for a cocktail after the cinema, this is also the place! The service is excellent, and guests are served very friendly!

We've been visiting this city for 15 years, and a visit to KaiserWetter is always a standard. Unlike Aachen, KaiserWetter hasn't changed its face, and to quote Klaus Wowereit: "...and that's a good thing!" There's always the fear that the portions or prices have changed. The generous(!) portions are fairly priced, so you can say that the salad (we always order the same thing) is healthy and filling (the bread!). Please try to maintain your quality (including that of your staff).

The service here is very friendly and professional. You're greeted with a smile upon arrival and assigned a free table. The food is fresh, colorful, and served warmly. Everything is well organized, and great importance is placed on bringing the food to the table with priority so it doesn't get cold (very good in my opinion). For example, it can happen to me that when you want to pay, it can take up to five minutes longer, depending on how busy the restaurant is at the time (so make it clear you want to pay in good time). And if something does go wrong, you should look at the whole picture and not just the moment. Mistakes shouldn't happen, but that's human nature. In summary, I highly recommend the Kaiserwetter restaurant. My visit was on July 31, 2025, at lunchtime.

I was there twice within 10 days. The service was the same both times—not unfriendly, but also not friendly and very inattentive. I drank a cappuccino and a water within two hours, and the water only because we called the waitress over. The "boss" prefers to sit at a table outside, drinking espresso and smoking. The food, however, is really good.

We ate some incredibly delicious pasta dishes. We also found the outdoor area really nice and cozy. The service was incredibly friendly and attentive. We'd love to come back!

We went there for dinner with a total of 7 adults and 2 small children. The word "bottomless" fits the place well. A short summary, because every letter is already too many. Drinks were only ordered after asking twice. But then it took a long time for them to arrive. After the second drink, we stopped; the glasses were empty by the time we ate. The first meal arrived after 70 minutes, the last after 110 minutes (the reason given was something wrong with the cheese on the veggie burger). The children had to wait 90 minutes for their schnitzel. The shift manager, or whatever he was, preferred to sit with his friends at the entrance, eating and drinking, rather than serving the customers. I've never given a bad review, but this place really doesn't deserve a star. I can only advise everyone not to go there.

Unfortunately, we received very poor service today. I've been experiencing glorious weather for a long time, but it's NEVER been as poorly organized as today. We were a group of seven adults and two small children. First, we had to wait 20 minutes for our drink order. Okay, it can happen... When the drinks arrived, the food wasn't served immediately. In the meantime, the first few drinks were empty, and the order was still delayed... The bottom line... After almost two hours, not all of the food was on the table, the children were done, and we all went home with a bad feeling. The food that was brought was of good quality. I don't know yet whether we'll be back, and if we do, it will be without children!

It's nice to sit outside, especially in the summer. The prices are a bit high for the dishes, and there isn't much choice. Nothing special, but it's doable.

We sat on the terrace and it truly had a holiday feel. The salads and summer cocktails are highly recommended. My dog ​​was immediately brought fresh water without me having to ask. Conclusion: delicious, friendly servers, and dog-friendly in a great atmosphere.

I visited the restaurant and unfortunately had a disappointing experience. Although I was looking forward to a lovely meal, I had to wait over an hour for my food. The restaurant wasn't particularly busy, and there was no clear explanation or apology from the staff for the long wait. I understand it can get hectic at times, but better communication and more attentive service would have made a big difference. Unfortunately, this experience has put me off visiting the restaurant again.

Kaiserwetter is the only restaurant I go to to eat salad. Nowhere does the salad taste better and special requests were well taken into account.

The olives on the starter plate were the blackened ones from a can, the tomato soup was from a bag. The bread was great, the salad was ok. VERY little choice for vegans. Disappointing.

The carpaccio appetizer was delicious, it is worth ordering bread with it. The main course - chicken breast was dry, too much butter, which did not even save this meat. Pasta in a cream sauce with gorgonzola was delicious. Dessert - brownie with vanilla sauce was delicious. Friends praised other dishes such as salmon, veggie ravioli. Overall, I do not recommend the chicken fillet. I give it a strong 4.5! 😉

I ate Karree in Kaiserwetter and it was an absolute delight! I was particularly impressed by the rump steak salad - an incredible combination of tender meat and fresh ingredients that are perfectly balanced. The ambience was also very pleasant and the service was friendly and attentive. I highly recommend the restaurant and will definitely come back!

We were there today for the first but also for the last time. The food was so average and way too expensive! A small pan with 7 small and dry shrimps for 17€, bruschetta = 3 very thick slices of ciabatta, of which only 1 was topped with tomatoes, 1 with garlic butter and 1 with a cheese cream... that wasn't apparent from the menu, etc. After sitting for a whole hour (the restaurant was completely empty), the waitress, who wasn't exactly the friendliest, finally asked if we would like to order food... Conclusion: Food was ok, but was completely overpriced. Ambience was very nice. From 6:30 p.m./7:00 p.m. it got very crowded, there were a lot more wait staff, who were (more or less) nice...

When the order came, the wine glass had limescale stains and the food was served rather carelessly without words. If this had been my first visit I wouldn't come back. The only friendly contact in the evening was with the bartender, who said goodbye to us in a very friendly manner. Maybe he should give his colleagues some manners. I hope for improvement. About the ambience: nice atmosphere, but loud.

When I went to eat in Aachen for the first time last week, I was attracted to the attractive outdoor area of ​​the Kaiserwetter restaurant. Even though it was already 8 p.m., we were lucky – the kitchen was still open and we were quickly seated. The first impression was positive, but the service left a lot to be desired. Despite an empty restaurant, we had to wait a while to be served. That was a bit disappointing, because with a small number of guests I would have liked quicker service. The food itself was delicious, especially the pizza. However, it bothered me that additional ingredients cost a flat rate of €2.50 - regardless of whether it was something like ham or a small amount of rocket. It would be desirable for this information to be clearly stated on the menu and for the prices of extras to vary depending on the ingredient. A nice end to the evening was the limoncello, which was served on the house. That left a positive impression.

To be honest, the food wasn't worth the money (ATTENTION: The prices on the homepage are out of date), the mixed starter platter for 2 people was a joke, lots of rocket and bread, plus two prawns with dip, olives, some ham and some small things, spaghetti Bolognese for the child was completely overpriced and not tasty, and the Wiener Schnitzel for just under €26 wasn't enjoyable either. The breading honestly resembled a frozen convenience product. We definitely won't come back...

Nice restaurant that we enjoyed visiting regularly back then. The ambience is ok, it's just the inner courtyard without a great view, but the restaurant brings out a lot of good things. Conclusion: you can do it well, if you want to have a dish outside of the FF offer centrally, you are in good hands here. The food is about at the level of a snack bar and simply doesn't match the price quoted: my schnitzel was cold, the fries only tasted like fat. The beer didn't have a nice head. My wife's starter platter was the equivalent of a starter salad with two scampis. Completely snoring service. I was in this restaurant on a Saturday afternoon. It was moderately busy and I saw four waitresses. After a normal waiting time (a few minutes), someone took my order. Then 20 minutes passed in which she brought other guests their orders and cleared tables. Since I ran out of time, I wanted to cancel my order. When I got up, the waitress came to me and actually asked if I wanted to order anything! Honestly, if it's stressful in the restaurant at peak times, something like that can happen, but in this setting it's just unbelievable. And she didn't even apologize...
