I wrote my original review while we were still sitting in the restaurant. What happened next was so shocking that I felt compelled to reconsider my review: The owners immediately read my review, and the lady wasn't satisfied with 4 stars. She said things like: "I asked you to give it a 5-star rating because I thought you were nice people, but you're not." "If you say everything tastes the same, then you have no taste!" "You've worked in the restaurant industry for 10 years? That's not enough! A little bit of cooking, a little bit of service, that's not the same thing!" "Take out the rating or make it 5 stars. That's bad for business." And that's just the tip of the iceberg. I said goodbye, my companion paid, and we were initially told €20.90, but without another word, the bill was €24.90. The menu didn't clearly state that the price increases when you eat certain dishes. At least, that's our assumption for the higher price. People have a hard time, yes. But to treat a guest like that who would normally have come back... THAT is bad for business! I expect a negative response from the owners along the lines of "They don't understand our concept, they have too high expectations, blah blah blah." It's a shame, but never again. That ruined my evening and makes me very sad... Original review: Very quiet, we were (almost) the only guests there. The food is delicious, but everything is very similarly seasoned. It always seems to use the same sauce. The service is funny, very attentive, and courteous. The food is ordered one at a time, the portions are large enough to feel like eating, but small enough that you can try the menu from start to finish. The ambiance is reminiscent of a pub with an Asian twist, which doesn't detract from the feeling of being welcome. Most importantly: It's really, really clean! All in all: highly recommended!

Good concept of All You Can Eat and super nice owner

A great concept: Instead of serving yourself at the buffet, you can order everything a buffet has to offer. Everything is freshly prepared and brought to your table. You can eat as much as you like. We've rarely had such good Chinese food.

If you can easily ignore the charm of the old pub, it's an insider tip when it comes to the food. Super delicious, freshly cooked to order, and almost any special request can be accommodated (no garlic, not spicy, tofu instead of meat, etc.). The all-you-can-eat buffet isn't a traditional buffet. You order dishes together as a group, which are placed on warmers at the table. It's a mini buffet at the table, and you can add or order new dishes at any time.

Eating here was a special experience. The "sharing buffet" concept, as an alternative to "all you can eat self-service," works perfectly. Everything was freshly prepared to order; nevertheless, we were able to order as many dishes as we could manage. Dishes were still sizzling in the pan as they were served. The chef knows his business exceptionally well. Everything was fresh and of the highest quality. The service is refreshingly unique. The only thing is that the chairs could be a little more comfortable. We'll definitely be coming more often from now on.

The service was first class, very friendly and tried to please everyone. A compliment to the chef, who prepares all the dishes freshly. We'll be back... The next appointment has already been made.

We were there in the evening for the all-you-can-eat. Unlike other such stores, here they have a different concept: First, each guest gets soup. Then there are some spring rolls & baked vegetables for everyone. From then on you order individual dishes, side dishes and sauces, which are then freshly prepared and brought to you. The meal drags on because there are always breaks in between. The food was extremely tasty. Lots of different options, even as a vegetarian some options. Vegan was also possible, for example no eggs were added to the pasta. The staff was very friendly, communication was sometimes not easy, we didn't really understand the concept at first. Yesterday on February 21st, 205 we had dinner in the Kaisergarten with a total of 4 people and were simply thrilled. The food was freshly prepared with good ingredients and tasted great. The service was very friendly and accommodating. For me this was by far the best Asian cuisine in Mönchengladbach. Thanks to the team. Because of this 'special concept' we wanted to try shared plates at the table. Unfortunately, we (two people) were sent away straight away, despite free tables, because we hadn't made a reservation. Too bad.

The concept may be quite good, but you also have to have enough staff in the kitchen and in the restaurant. At least that wasn't the case last Friday. After 90 minutes, we (5 people) only had the appetizer plates and one drink (despite reordering several times). We then stopped. Too bad. And on Valentine's Day of all days. P.S. As I expected, my justified and objective criticism was responded to shamelessly. Also very extensive. Apparently you have time for that. What the heck, it's done.

We reserved a table at 7 p.m. and got a starter and drinks after 1 hour, our main course was forgotten, as well as our drinks. We weren't the only ones who complained. Today on Christmas Eve the three of us as a family had a delicious meal here in the Kaisergarten. We already knew the restaurant and happened to be here a few years ago. The food is different from what we usually know. There is no “self-service buffet” but you choose specifically from a buffet menu. We had Peking soup, a mixed plate of wontons and mini spring rolls for starters. Then baked chicken, duck, beef with onions, grilled prawns, grilled mussels, grilled squid, fried noodles as a side dish and for dessert baked banana with honey and fried milk with honey. And I have to say we were thrilled. We personally think the concept of not throwing food away and eating consciously is very good. Often enough you have seen fully loaded plates at other buffets that were not emptied afterwards. The food was freshly prepared and was excellent, as was the friendly service. We will definitely come back because you get quality for your money here.

We wanted to go to a buffet on Sunday evening and chose this restaurant based on Google reviews because it seemed good. When we got there, the equipment to set up a buffet was there, but the containers were all empty. When we asked whether there would be a buffet, we received the rude answer from a very unfriendly lady: "No mass-produced items, only orders at the table". She gave us a small menu from which we could have chosen what we ordered. So “all you can eat” is offered at the table and not a buffet. Which raises the question of why the restaurant advertises a buffet. My companion asked the lady what was for dessert and she said there were bananas and ice cream. He asked if there were any other alternatives and was answered in a very unfriendly tone: "What do you expect for €19.90?" Since we like the ambience of a buffet and the fact that you can choose from the dishes based on their appearance and decide how much you eat and are not tied to what you are served, we decided not to take up the offer . When I wanted to give the card back to the lady, I didn't even have the opportunity to say anything to her. She hurled the following sentence at me like a shot from a pistol: "No mass-produced goods! We had dinner in the Kaiser Garden for the second time today. As always, it was a real treat. There is no food on the menu that doesn't taste great. In combination with the family service, we can only recommend this restaurant. But I can't understand some of the comments. Especially when you complain that everything is no longer available shortly before the end of the working day when the operators, who are there for the guests 7 days a week, fly off on their well-deserved vacation the next day. Sometimes you should just think about how you can prepare your vacation yourself. We also empty the fridge as much as possible beforehand so that nothing can go bad. And we don't have any legal requirements like in the catering industry. We will definitely always come back. Thank you for everything.

So my impressions are very mixed. The first time we were here, the sharing table buffet was recommended to us. We had the voucher book with us and it was explained to us that it couldn't be redeemed as it stood. We then went for the table buffet and it was very tasty and good, even if not outstanding. (That's why I rate the food with 4 stars) We then came back here to redeem the second voucher for a free second skin dish. At first they were very friendly and asked us if we would like a sharing table buffet. When I then showed the voucher book, they immediately said there was no more duck or shrimp, only chicken. Because you would be on vacation for 3 weeks starting tomorrow, none of it would have been bought.... (I looked on Google a few days later and the restaurant was still open)... In addition, you would have to reserve with a voucher book and we wouldn't have done that either. Mind you: it was a weekday and there were 2 (!!!) other guests there besides us. If I look at the owner's answers here on Google, I would say that guests with voucher books are not really welcomed. If that's the case, then it's best not to offer vouchers... And if you don't want to offer dishes with duck or prawns for free as a second dish (which I could understand), you should add it to the voucher or the whole thing (like many other restaurants do it) to 15 euros. Then everyone knows where they stand and everyone is happy and satisfied. As I said: food is good, sharing table buffet is a good idea. But I didn't like the experience last time... Sorry! 🥲

Only the ambience is a bit old-fashioned and is more reminiscent of a snack bar than of a restaurant. Something more could be done here. If it's full, you should definitely be prepared to wait, as all the food is made completely fresh and the portions are quite small, even if you can always reorder. When we looked at the menu, we wanted to leave because it only said meat. We told her we were vegetarians. We were told very politely that it was absolutely no problem. Because the dishes are freshly prepared. She asked us in advance whether we wouldn't eat certain things. Eg egg, garlic, hot. etc. Based on our information, different dishes were brought out little by little and I have to admit... The taste was very, very tasty. Absolutely not to be compared with a buffet restaurant. The food there tastes bad and is often cold. The owner and waitress are very warm and authentic. She doesn't have to pretend. You and your husband (cook) put a lot of heart and soul into it.

My wife and I were craving Asian food today and discovered Kaiser Garten while browsing on Google. We were interested in the slightly different buffet concept, which is why we decided to visit. How this buffet works in detail has already been described in detail in another review. But it is modern and sustainable. This keeps food waste to a minimum. Plus you can't get it served fresher prepared. In terms of taste, everything impressed us without exception. We enjoyed our food served hot. I invited my girlfriend to this restaurant to celebrate. The table sharing concept was new to us, but it was easy to understand and we really liked it. Individual dishes are ordered from a menu and, in the style of a buffet, you can reorder as often as you like. This restaurant is run by a married couple, we were served by the wife and cooked for by the husband. The owner gave us a warm welcome and accompanied us through the evening with humor and individual service. The meal started classically with a soup starter that offered plenty of flavor. We were then served finger food with a fruity sauce. From the main courses we could choose a variety of dishes. Every single dish exceeded our expectations. The meat was very tender and pleased us both. Our tip: you shouldn't miss the baked banana with ice cream as dessert. There are also private parking spaces behind the restaurant. All in all a very nice experience and we look forward to the next time.

We were there yesterday with several people! It was great fun! All dishes were freshly prepared. Everything tasted great and came to the table hot. Every wish was fulfilled. In a good mood and have fun! We will come back!
