KAI40 Restaurant & Bar in Rostock

Their portion is quite big and priced nicely. Interior is absolutely gorgeous, food is tasty, and the drinks are also satisfactory. Eisbein portion is way bigger than expected. sadly they don’t have neither lieblich or alcohol free Wine- everything is just trocken. But they made it up with their gin/sprits options and also the tonic like Japanese yuzu tonic is something i don’t often find.

We ate there for the first time on my birthday. The first impression of the restaurant was very positive, it is a cozy atmosphere with warm light and a nice atmosphere. The food was wonderful, the quality matched the price and the service was great too. It wasn't too intrusive and not too little either. All in all it was a perfect place to celebrate special days. Always my pleasure :)

A great hotel with nice staff. We felt very comfortable.

We landed here at short notice and were given a very warm welcome. Our table request was immediately fulfilled. The menu is very varied and offers food for every taste. We had both veal schnitzel and burgers as well as the pulled beef sandwich. Everything was very nicely prepared and extremely tasty. For dessert we also had various dishes from the dessert menu, which were also excellent. All in all, a wonderful evening in a lovely atmosphere.

There were three of us for the dinner buffet. Our waitress Kristin was very friendly and in a good mood. We had a lot of fun😁👍! The food was delicious and was continually replenished over the two hours we were there. The breakfast is also exceptional and cannot be compared to any hotel we know of!!! We'll definitely be back!!!!!

Hello, We were there last Saturday, December 14th. with our family at Kai40 for the Advent brunch. The ambience was very nice and Christmassy and the service was wonderful throughout. We were well served and always felt comfortable there. The food was also very good. Everything was prepared very tasty and there was also a wide variety on offer from fruit platters to walnut pasta to duck and delicious desserts. A clear recommendation from us! The atmosphere and the food were very appealing. Modern furnishings, central location, clean toilets and lots of staff. The food was delicious – including selection and speed of preparation. The prices were okay for the quality, I found the price-performance ratio to be okay. Card payment possible. The staff also served quite professionally, even if there was room for improvement. Strangely, the opening times did not match those on the website and on Google. And I had the feeling that I wasn't that welcome at first as a guest with two children. At 4 p.m. the restaurant was empty, all seats were free. The waitress asked if we had a reservation instead of greeting us in a friendly manner. When I said no, she made us wait and turned to her supervisor. I found this to be unfriendly. The manager then kindly placed us in a seat in the middle of the room - it could have been a window seat because all the tables were free. I had to remember the child seat. There were colored pencils and a sheet that could be painted. My impression: The professionalism of the staff urgently needs to be improved.

We were there on November 6th. Dined at Kai 40 and had a wonderful evening with the family in the modern ambience of the restaurant. The service was very friendly and attentive. The food tasted great and was good value for money. We have vegetarians in the family and they highly praised the Beyond Burger. We would love to come back.

Saturday - break! Very nice atmosphere, service very friendly and accommodating. The offering is diverse and very tasty. Everything is presented very nicely too! For me personally the price per person is a little too high! But everyone should see for themselves!

Reserved a table in the evening. Everything went smoothly. The ambience was breathtaking, beautifully harmonious, clean, elegant and very modern and inviting. The service was also very friendly and accommodating. You felt very well advised and very comfortable. Intolerances were addressed and very good advice was given. Special requests were accepted without objection. Food was very fresh, warm, high quality. Also a large dessert selection. The price is worth it. A culinary temptation. We highly recommend this restaurant. We'll definitely be back.

Absolutely great and well-frequented rooftop bar with a beautiful, contemporary ambience; For me as a gin fan, the selection of around 20 gins was an absolute blast and I thought the recommendation of a matching tonic was great; My favorite that evening was the classic, finely nuanced Müritz Gin.

A wonderful atmosphere, at 9° you sit on the heated terrace and enjoy the nightlife of Rostock with very good drinks. Highly recommended!

Very very nice lots of food. Also gluten free. Since I haven't been allowed to eat wheat for 13 years, it's often a shame that there is very little gluten-free in many hotels, but here there is an awful lot of gluten-free. I think that the food here in the hotel is incredibly tasty and varied. I can't complain. The service was also very, very nice. Thank you very much for this service and this large room and everything about it.

There's not much to write about it other than: 100%. Hardly any hotel in Germany in this segment can keep up with breakfast. Keep it up and thank you for the great breakfast. This is the only reason why the trip to Rostock is worth it.

A great bar on the ground floor at the Radisson Blu with delicious drinks, the cocktail menu is very well designed. Special requests were also fulfilled. The service was super nice (although a bit overwhelmed at times). Now to the negative aspect: the (newly opened) rooftop bar was recommended to us. But an evening visit turned out to be a bitter disappointment. The great view was quickly spoiled because even after more than 10 minutes we weren't asked if we wanted something to drink... the waiters seemed completely overloaded - but we were warmly welcomed again on the ground floor.

A short stop in Rostock - coincidence led us to KAI 40 - and we continued on happily. This was an indescribably beautiful culinary highlight of our Baltic Sea trip.

Unfortunately, dogs are not welcome in this restaurant. So we decided not to visit.

We spontaneously looked for a family room and quickly found what we were looking for in the Radisson Blu in Rostock. The staff is incredibly friendly, but not intrusive. After a great meal followed by a sauna session, we sat down in the hotel bar with our kids and were warmly welcomed here too! Now we're enjoying our evening and the kids are playing in the play lounge. This is really how to endure it. One thing is certain for us... we'll be back!

A really, really nice restaurant with very courteous and friendly people in service and in the kitchen. We ate there with our 2 children. Both ours and the children's meals (chicken fricassee and schnitzel with fries) were extremely tasty. This is rare, especially with children's meals. Extra wishes were fulfilled and otherwise it was a successful experience there. We are very excited as a family. All four 👍🥰 It's worth going there!

I accidentally discovered the KAI40 restaurant today. I just wanted to sit down quietly for a moment to book a sailing spot for the HanseSail using my cell phone. But I had poor data reception. The service employee welcomed me extremely nicely and responded to my situation sensitively. I asked for something maritime, she recommended the fish soup and let me choose a seat. I booked my ship and then spontaneously decided on the fish soup and water. First there were two slices of bread with delicious cranberry greaves and pleasantly salted butter. A little later I was served the white fish soup. A great recommendation! When I asked, the competent waiter explained to me that it was made without cream. The whitish broth is only created by the fish and the root vegetables. She said the fish taste would come out purer. I could agree with that. I asked about the rooftop bar and only then found out that the KAI40 belongs to the Radisson Blu hotel group. On the way to the toilet I discovered a kind of lounge area with a wine rack and a bar. Everything was beautifully furnished and thoughtfully designed. Even in the light-flooded restaurant, I noticed the great lights on the ceiling. An extraordinary experience, all the employees I met and sometimes spoke to were very friendly, personable and competent. I would love to come again to enjoy the view from the roof over the city harbor or a wine - or to try another kitchen creation and have a nice conversation again. Absolute recommendation!

Very tasty Caesar salad and first of all a super delicious bread with sea salt butter. Great atmosphere and very polite staff.

The service is top - unfortunately the food is no more. On our last visit, the fries and fried potatoes were less than standard, the Baltic Sea pikeperch was unfortunately frozen and very dry. Unfortunately it's no longer worth the price. There would have been a small compensation for our feedback... but the drinks were good. Maybe we'll come back again... but not anytime soon. Very unfortunate.

To start a cruise trip from Warnemünde, I was able to spend an evening here with my mother. What can I say, the food was exquisite and the service first class. Food ok, menu too playful. Had the burger in the evening and the pike perch for lunch. Service on Friday evening was very nice and attentive. Unfortunately, today (July 27th) at noon it was a total failure. I would have liked to have another espresso and the bill, unfortunately no one felt the need to stop by - despite the almost empty restaurant. Even waving and the like didn't help. When I actively went to the entrance area to pay and commented on this, a rather half-hearted "I'm sorry" (tone "I wasn't listening anyway") was squeezed out and then a strange look was given when there was no tip. Difficult for the claim and price.

The food was okay, but like the rest of the evening: everything takes forever, regardless of whether it's a cold or warm drink, cold or warm food. Service was nice, but not really competent. Difficult to clear away. Ambience rather cold and not very comfortable. Doesn't have to happen again.

This restaurant is now an absolute must-have for me whenever I'm in Rostock. Directly connected to the Radisson Hotel (the hotel's parking facilities can be used), it offers a similar flair and a truly unbeatable price-performance ratio in this location. From “Small and Refined” to “Hearty and Lots” there are all sorts of delicacies. Tried something unusual today: cranberry lard, as a greeting from the kitchen, very tasty! I didn't think that lard could taste sweet. For the main course I had grilled pork knuckle. Grilled pork knuckle? In my memory, some restaurants call their creations that way, which are supposed to be knuckles, but come across more like meat with an impenetrable shell around it that is more reminiscent of work boots than crust. But fortunately that's not the case here. Hey Kai40, you can justifiably call it Haxe! 🙂 All the quality characteristics of such a dish are met: juicy meat, crispy but also edible crust! Thats how it is suppost to be! 👍 My wife's Mecklenburg country roast was also great, as was the fish soup and the pear with Klüt and... hm... you can tell I'm thrilled. 🤟 The service is friendly, fast, courteous and not fussy. Conclusion: As already mentioned, a must-have in Rostock with an excellent price-performance ratio! Absolute and unreserved recommendation!

Only went to the rooftop bar. Large selection of drinks, also pleasing to the eye, but a bit expensive. Mixed with too much alcohol for my taste. However, the friendly service gave me a little more juice when I asked. Great view, but very, very dirty. It's a shame, because you can't see through the glass anymore...

The taste is AMAZING. The “Bite from here” offers a variation of all starters. The portion is large and no matter which part you try, it stays true to the restaurant's motto: Unmistakable, Honest, Tangible. Service was very accommodating. We went for brunch on June 8, 2024 and were disappointed, the food was satisfactory, the waiters had disappeared, supposedly lunch break, we had to wait for our drinks until someone came. The waiters' wardrobe was stained and dirty. The whole ambience was satisfactory for the hotel. And that with the prices. We remember it much better. K. Waack

We were served in the evening at the lower bar and also for dinner by Kristin, thank you very much, it was great, of course the food was also very tasty. Unfortunately the bar is only open until midnight and cocktails are only available at the upper bar, which was unfortunately closed. It is inconvenient if there are big concerts that go until 11 p.m., then not to make an exception to the opening times. A little more flexibility would be desirable, as in other equivalent hotels.

I've eaten at Kai40 several times now and I'm always thrilled with the food. The employees are extremely friendly and always try hard. I like to come back every time 😇

Firstly, the food tasted very good, the portion was rather small. So I would have imagined more heaven and earth for the meal, and upon request I also ordered pork liver. So I would have imagined the following price for the portion: a total of 19 euros more money and the portion wouldn't have been worth it to me. The price for the meal was 25 euros. The ambience was fine. The service was very friendly. So I know that I can't recommend this location because the price-performance ratio isn't right.

Arrogant manager, who was very passive aggressive when we were waiting to be seated without a reservation . Asked us to come back in 30 mins without taking our name or contact, nothing. We sat by the hotel bar and saw people start piling up at the restaurant entrance, manager did not seem phased by the long line of people. We realised it was not worth it, and left to another place right down the street.

Unfortunately I have to rate my experience extremely poorly. The food was overall okay, the atmosphere is generally good but the service was terrible. We were received by an unfriendly and rude waitress; Ricarda who was very slow and reluctant to respond to our simple requests. From asking to be seated at a different table to asking for additional paper tissues. We were asked why we needed them and what we wanted to use them for. However, her manager came and we voiced our negative experience, he was friendly and apologized for it. The dessert; crême brûlée was delicious though. Nonetheless, our overall experience was very negative.

Admittedly, I'm a fan... Two great evenings spent with delicious food and attentive and friendly service. The asparagus was cooked to perfection and the wild ham was a delight. Very moderate prices and an extensive selection of food and drinks. Simply great and highly recommended. Thank you for the warm service.

Really nice atmosphere and largely attentive service. The hummus starter was attractively presented and the small baked flatbreads were very fluffy. The crème brûlée was excellent, I couldn't do without the blackberry ice cream, it didn't have enough acid for me and therefore tasted a bit boring. Unfortunately, the main course was a kitchen fail that day. The fries were lukewarm, sticky on the inside and oily on the outside. The burger patty was completely raw inside, the braised onions were mushy and the cole slaw salad already had a dried crust, so the entire dish was worth it. I would still give the kitchen another chance.
