The Kastaniengarten is located in our immediate neighborhood, so we visit it frequently in both summer and winter. Since we always feel so comfortable there, choosing it as our wedding venue was an easy decision. Our initial contact with the proprietor was very warm and welcoming, the schedule and menu were arranged without any fuss, and the day itself ran smoothly and without any problems. From the beer and sparkling wine reception to dinner and the final schnapps, it was truly a wonderful day that we were able to spend in the cozy rooms of the Kastaniengarten. The entire team deserves high praise, from the proprietor to the entire service staff and, of course, the kitchen crew who provided us with delicious food and drinks. Everything was perfect for us: value for money, taste, service, and ambiance. Therefore, we give it a full 5 stars and a clear recommendation.

Absolutely exceptional. Pasta was one of the best I’ve ever had. Presentation is above restaurant quality. Excellent beer on tap for some of the best prices I have seen (at least in comparison to Munich).

Drinks like you'd find in a Munich restaurant. The food was freezing cold and like a table setting. The prices were a complete rip-off, as were the waiters. Absolutely outrageous. It was our first and last time there. In the dark, you can't even see what's on your plate or what you're eating. The staff were completely unfriendly. I've never personally experienced anything like it. The quality of the food also leaves a lot to be desired.

A half-pint of beer for €4.80(!). Completely overcooked chanterelle mushrooms with mush for sauce. In any supermarket that needs more staff and space, you can now get a case of brand-name beer for €8 to €12. How long will customers and politicians allow themselves to be fooled by the restaurant industry?

I love Kastaniengarden, for me the best beer garden, for the tranquility, for the service and above all for its beer, Nordbrau, and for the food 😀

I went there for lunch and was sadly disappointed. Very small portions for a high price, and they were frozen or ready-made. Dumpling hash browns with dumplings, probably from a pancake pack, a very small portion for 11 euros. Feta cheese was similarly small and carelessly arranged, and the portion was also small for 9.50. I go there because I expect homemade food and decent portions. Not the unhealthy, highly processed food I'd really like to avoid. I could have had both dishes at home in my kitchen for less than 5 euros. And then it took forever for the food to be ready. The man at the counter was nice, and there were some lovely chestnuts lying around. But that was about it. How others get 5 stars remains a mystery to me. But if the restaurant industry is going to die, then please let places like this one go.

By far Ingolstadt's best beer garden.

Since this year, due to a lack of staff – some of whom are unfortunately unfriendly – there have been extremely long waits on nice days, once to order and then again until the food is ready and ready to pick up. So, if the weather is nice, arrive early and bring your time. It used to be better. The atmosphere is nice, and there's even a playground for children.

Usually too crowded, making it uncomfortable and far too loud. Once you've finally found a seat, you can wait in line for either drinks or food... I find the separation impractical; in other beer gardens, you can order both at one cash register. The price-performance ratio for the food is mixed and depends on the dish. It's okay overall, but there are much nicer alternatives. The parking situation is usually disastrous.

A beautiful village beer garden, with a wonderful seating area under old trees. Unfortunately, the tables aren't kept very clean. Prices are okay, but the pretzel was quite hard and overcooked. There's little vegetarian selection. Unfortunately, the salad was swimming in a vinegar dressing, which caused it to clump together and quickly become mushy. By the middle of the meal, it was more like a vinegar soup. Service was very friendly and engaging when ordering, rather rustic with the drinks, and not friendly when serving the food. Large portions, pleasant seating, and a bit of a relaxed atmosphere. But there's definitely room for improvement in terms of comfort and hospitality.

The Kastanienhof is one of the most beautiful beer gardens in the region, with excellent food and absolutely reasonable and fair prices. The ambiance under the chestnut trees is unparalleled and always worth a break in the summer. We're always happy to come back... :-)

It was nice that the food could be eaten right at the playground, so the kids were busy and had fun. The chicken was deliciously juicy, and the spaetzle was delicious.

Even one star is too many! Starting with the measly selection of dishes that are still available, through the absolutely terrible structure and the unfriendly nature of the service up to the waiting time of around 1 hour for food that was almost cold. There are much better beer gardens WITH SERVICE! in the area, that doesn't even make up for the beautiful location.

The whisky tasting on March 29, 2025, was simply fantastic! A fantastic selection of first-class whiskies, perfectly presented and explained with great knowledge and passion. This was complemented by an outstanding two-course menu: The appetizer platter with buffalo mozzarella, ham, feta, and truffle cream cheese was a delight, and the main course was a delight: the corn-fed chicken with grilled vegetables and tomato tagliatelle. The atmosphere was simply fantastic – a wonderful community of whisky lovers and an incredibly welcoming host who rounded off the evening perfectly. If you love whisky or simply want to enjoy a special evening in a relaxed setting, you shouldn't miss the Kastaniengarten! The beer garden is also always worth a visit in summer.

Totally delicious and full of ideas. It's really fun to be there and you feel really comfortable. Is a really good excursion destination for bikers, cyclists, singles, seniors, families and groups of all kinds. Come home to your chestnut garden and invite your friends or get to know new friends. The landlord and his team are really nice.

Went to the chestnut garden yesterday with a small group and were deeply disappointed. Since it's understandable that you can't expect a large selection of dishes at the time of the Christmas celebrations, I arranged with the boss to order from a reduced menu. In the evening itself, the service staff knew nothing about it. The waiter babbled something about a docket that he had to follow. We were presented with a menu for €33/person that was underground. The chicken fillet was still bloody inside, the duck parts were too salty, which was due to the flavor enhancers, and the vegetables were woody or undercooked. The highlight was of course the quantity, for every six people we got a pan with meat that you can get elsewhere for two people (see picture). You simply filled the pan with dumplings to make it look full. In addition, the drinks are overpriced for a brewery restaurant. We paid an average of €45 per person, but since everyone had an empty stomach, the bill didn't add up to the same amount. This is simply a rip off what you have done to us and we will steer clear of the chestnut garden in the future.

The food is good and the beer too. However, I don't think it's a good idea to completely forego service and rely entirely on self-service. This sometimes results in very long queues for drinks and long waiting times for food. When you look at the prices it's hard to understand.

I love beer gardens. The weather was very rainy and everyone in the main room was full, but we settled down in the next room. Self-service wasn't a problem anyway (with potentially inattentive waiters). Half a chicken, freshly grilled, with a measure of Helles... lekkaaaaaaa. Great beer garden!

Interesting place: the food is delicious, as well as different types of beer. To order food, you need to go to the counter. For beer you need to go into the building on the right, beer and water are poured there, and you pay for it there. The menu is in German, Google translator funnyly translates the names of the dishes, so that much is unclear. We ate the knuckle with potato salad, the salad was very tasty, the knuckle was also good; pieces of pork with stewed sauerkraut and the child ate pinza, they make pizza on a ready-made dough base, not bad, but... The inside of the restaurant is very atmospheric, with a lot of interesting interior details.

The chestnut garden offers very few parking spaces and is centrally located in the village and should therefore be reached on foot. Food is ordered at the counter, where you get a pager that beeps and vibrates when the food is ready to be picked up. Drinks are available on the right at beer garden prices and the toilet is on the left, which is clean. The food was delicious and the beer was ok.

But the pizza flatbread that some people had on their tables also looked very good. Of course there are also sweets to finish off the meal. Genuinely nice and cozy. Perfect for the family. Good grilled chicken with potato salad, roast beef tray and some kind of pan steak with fries for the kids. If I were to comment on anything, the roast beef was a bit dry, there was no English menu and the prices were quite high for lunch.
