Favorite cafe in Solingen Gräfrath

No matter whether summer or winter, a coffee house is always a good choice. Certainly in summer, when the weather is nice, there could be more staff. After all, on our last visit we had to wait over 90 minutes for our food. There were 7 of us there and we had a lot to tell each other, so the waiting time wasn't that bad, but 2 waitresses outside is a bit short. The atmosphere in the coffee house is always very nice. I was there as a student. Now I still go there with my grown sons.

Ate very tasty. Penne with chanterelles and steak strips. Mega. Friendly service. I would definitely like to come back 👍

Located on the historic market square in Solingen-Gräfrath, the “Kaffeehaus Solingen” offers its guests a friendly welcome. During our summer holidays we stayed in Gräfrath for two days and had the opportunity to enjoy breakfast. We had scrambled eggs with ham and onions, scrambled eggs with tomatoes and mozzarella and a vegetarian breakfast. We all agreed that it tasted excellent. Thanks to the whole team 🙏

We sat outside and had a drink. The service was nice and there wasn't a long wait and the hot midday sun was easy to bear under the parasol with a view of the pretty market square.

We always enjoy coming here. Everything is really harmonious here: the food is very tasty, the menu is quite extensive and the prices are really fair, the staff is very friendly and the atmosphere inside and out is cozy and you feel comfortable! We always love being there and enjoy it like we're on vacation. P.S. Beef tartare and roast beef with fried potatoes and tartar sauce would also be great on the menu! 😀

Mostly satisfied for years. Disaster today, long wait but even worse the messed up dish of the day Lotte. Normally it tastes similar to lobster, but here it is initially served raw, gelatinous on the inside, and after a complaint, it is ineptly prepared due to its lack of fiber. Apparently the same chef as usual. Very disappointed, but expected payment.

Very original, iconic mix of classic pub and restaurant. Not a schnitzel shop, but a real restaurant with delicious food!

I haven't been there in a while but it's still just as quaint and cozy as it used to be. This small historic house has been designed with so much love that you feel completely at home. The food is delicious and has a good price/performance ratio. We had pasta dishes that I can only recommend. Cheese spaetzle and penne with chanterelles. The staff is super friendly and attentive. The village around it is a mountain gem.

I've been to the coffee house several times and have always been satisfied, hence the 3 stars. But yesterday I was very disappointed. I ordered veal sausage with curry sauce and bread. I got bratwurst with potatoes and a very sweet dark brown sauce. The sausage was “drowned” in this sauce. That definitely wasn't curry! Since I was hungry I accepted it, but later told the waiter and a waitress when asked that it wasn't tasty and wasn't right. An apology would have been nice. My partner was asked after the first drink if he wanted anything else. I wasn't asked. When the drink came I was ignored again. Only after the waitress served the neighboring table and I said loudly that I would like another coffee did anyone react. When I finally wanted to pay, it took another 20 minutes before the bill came. The place wasn't full. I hope it was just an exception, but curry and curry sauce are yellow to light brown and not dark brown and sweet.

I've probably known the coffee house for almost 40 years... a wonderful, beloved commitment! No matter whether in spring, summer, autumn or winter. Always my pleasure.

We waited more than 40 minutes for our desserts. It would be nice if the waiters warned against such a long wait. There were no napkins either.

Food was OK. But it wasn't obvious that the burger had different cooking levels. After complaining, the waitress became rude. It was very loud and stuffy. It gets worse but it also gets better.

As a “girl” from Solingen, I have known the coffee house for almost 40 years. But that's exactly how it stayed. I find paper tablecloths totally unattractive and somehow I had the impression that everything was getting old. You may call it vintage, the shop is just running, but if you're not there to eat, it's definitely more attractive outside on the market square when the weather is nice. The service was attentive, there's nothing to complain about. Prices were ok too, as was the food that came out. Everything is appetizing and visually appealing. But it was very well attended, mainly older customers for coffee and cake. Towards the later afternoon, some warm meals were ordered. A big compliment, however, goes to the coffee: super tasty!

It was my first time eating there, but definitely not the last time. Service was very friendly, attentive and accommodating. The food was really excellent. The chicken breast with pepper sauce is highly recommended!

Sehr schöne Atmosphäre im historischen Gräfrath. Die Durchsicht der Karte machte allerdings schon stutzig. Thai- Curry neben Krustenbraten:) Ich entschied mich für Kalbsfrikadelle mit hausgemachtem Kartoffelsalat, in der Hoffnung, dass bei deutscher Hausmannskost eine gewisse Expertise in der Zubereitung vorhanden ist. Die Frikadelle war ok, allerdings innen noch rosa, was ich bei Hackfleisch außer Haus dann nicht esse. Der Kartoffelsalat war der schlechteste, den ich jemals gegessen habe. Ohne Geschmack mit einer Majopampe und Erbsen und Möhren untergerührt. Das ganze Gericht war schlicht nicht essbar.... Würde nur noch der Atmosphäre wegen etwas trinken dort..

A really nice coffee house in Solingen? And whether! Anyone who looks skeptical here should come to Gräfrath and see for themselves. Exceptional ambience, good cuisine and staff with heart. All of this with a view of the impressive monastery church. Definitely worth a trip.

The most beautiful district of Solingen, the old town center with bars offers a wonderful ambience. The coffee house is a cozy place with a good menu. The staff is very friendly. Price performance is good.

It is always a great pleasure to stay in the coffee house and, in addition to the good food, enjoy the unusual ambience and the excellent service. Friends were there with us for the first time and were thrilled. We were all completely satisfied and will definitely come back again with pleasure.

Now I have to vent my anger: I was in the coffee house around 6 p.m. yesterday and wanted to have a quick coffee with milk. I was completely ignored by the somewhat chubby waitress with her hair strictly combed back and even after three quarters of an hour I still wasn't asked if I wanted something to drink or eat, even though she was constantly serving the neighboring table - about a meter away from me - and sometimes she had to do right next to me. She didn't even look at me and so I sat there and couldn't help but be amazed until Max - who was standing behind the counter - came to me and asked me if I had been served, which I said no. Then he asked me what I wanted, even though he wasn't actually responsible for me - as he emphasized. I ordered a latte from him and when Max brought it to me, he apologized and said the coffee was on the house. Nevertheless, the waitress continued to ignore me until I left. I still have no explanation for the waitress's behavior. I didn't get an apology from her or any other reaction from her. I hope that this is an appeal to all women who sit down alone at a table: "Be vigilant, even if you are being served by a woman!" I never thought something like this would ever happen to me and: "Ignore those who ignore you!" Thanks to Max for treating me politely and respectfully. It should be so!!! Greetings Birgit

As always, very nice atmosphere and very nice service. But the kitchen has had a bad day or has slacked off a lot. The veal meatball was as dry as a piece of bread and absolutely carelessly served with equally dry mashed potatoes. The potato pancakes were either not thawed properly or not fresh (floury and unpleasant taste)

Great location! Ambience, service and food really excellent and everything was very clean! "Coffee house" is an understatement and misleading, it's also a very good restaurant! I made a blind reservation there and have never been there before. The traditional get-together after the registry office was crowned with this place!

So. We didn't get past the reception. The gentleman behind the counter simply ignored us. Good thing, hygiene isn't his thing. The cookies (were not packaged) were simply handled with your fingers and not with tongs and placed on the saucer. At least I find it disgusting. It's a shame, I used to love going there...but now it's a no-go. If this happens in public at the counter...what does the kitchen look like????

We had made a reservation for Sunday evening and were shown straight to our table upon arrival. The service was friendly, but moved quite quickly, so that you couldn't order a glass of water with your wine, for example, because the service was already on its way as soon as you placed your first order. The food came quickly, the bruschetta was pretty good, although you could add pesto to the menu. Unfortunately, the main courses were not well received at all in terms of price-performance ratio. The veal schnitzel, which was offered on the menu for €27, was unfortunately not really tender, the breading wasn't that good either and the schnitzel was also quite fatty. The potatoes and salad were okay, but the entire dish doesn't do justice to the price. Unfortunately, the meat quality of the chicken wok also has to be criticized as the chicken was very tough. The dessert didn't score at all. The crème brûlée arrived at our table cold, as if it had been flambéed and stored in the refrigerator, only the saucer of the dish was warm. The restaurant itself is nicely decorated and the furnishings and toilets are also very clean. In the first impression, the glazed wall to the kitchen makes a good impression, as you as a guest can see how the food is being prepared, but then you see the kitchen taking a smoke break on the terrace (which in itself is totally legitimate), but afterwards Goes back to work and doesn't wash your hands or put on gloves beforehand and cooks again and arranges the dishes, which, in my opinion, doesn't make a good impression for the visitor. Finally, I can summarize the visit by saying that for me the price-performance ratio was not right at all and the kitchen should perhaps be given hygiene instructions when it comes to hand washing.

After a visit to the nearby fauna, we felt like coffee and cake and stopped at this original coffee house. In a really nice atmosphere we were served very friendly and had delicious cakes and very tasty coffee. We'd love to come back

The food was very tasty and the service was very friendly and accommodating. We didn't have to wait particularly long for the food and drinks, even though there were about 10 of us and the coffee house is very busy on Sunday lunchtime. If we go on a hike nearby again, we'll definitely come by again, we really enjoyed it 🍻🍷

We had reserved a table for 4:00 p.m., but were initially told without a greeting that we had to leave again at 6:00 p.m. The food, cakes and coffee were very tasty. Good price-performance ratio. Kaffeehaus in Solingen Gräfrath ist Tradition. Voll schön bemalte Decken, hübsches Ambiente, freundlicher Service, leckere Waffeln, Kaffee anyway, aber auch frischer Minz, Ingwer Tee und Käs' Spätzle.

Das war für mich ein ganz besonderes Erlebnis. In diesen Haus Lebte ich 1960 meine ersten 3 Monate nach der Geburt.Es war irgendwie komisch, aber Schön.

Ich war das erste Mal hier und was soll ich sagen, stilvolles Ambiente supernette Bedienung und super lecker. Das Preis Leistungs Verhältnis stimmt auch.

Ein tolles schnuckeliges Kaffeehaus. Die Kuchen waren sehr lecker!

Ein gemütliches, bergisches Restaurant mit gutem Kaffee. Gegessen haben wir nichts, was wir aber bald nachholen werden. Der Service war gut, flott und sehr freundlich.

Sehr freundliche Mitarbeitende, sehr leckeres Essen. Man sollte vorher einen Tisch reservieren, damit einen Platz bekommt.

Vielleicht hat der Koch auch nur einen schlechten Tag, aber das Essen war nicht gut. Da war sehr viel aus der Tüte und Rösti als Reibekuchen getarnt, ist irgendwie auch nicht besonders kreativ.
