Kachelhaus in Bielefeld

It's a very sociable place, nice people, we especially liked the quiet table next door, so we could chat with our friends undisturbed while we ate since we haven't seen each other for a long time 🤩

We were guests at the Kachelhaus twice and were impressed by both visits. The price-performance ratio is fair and the quality of the food is good. The service was friendly and accommodating. Only the (apparently) new employees in the service team could be a little more attentive. ;) All in all, we were very satisfied and will definitely stop by more often.

A super delicious breakfast buffet (highly recommend the Mett 😋). Great ambience and very friendly service. It's a good place to stay, even if you just want to enjoy delicious coffee. We would be happy to come back next time we visit Bielefeld.

I didn't find the schnitzel that convincing

We were there with 2 couples. Reservation makes sense in advance. Saturday evening at 6:30 p.m. it was quite crowded there. The menu with a good selection. The food was very tasty, everyone enjoyed it 👍. Gladly again 😃

Really very nice restaurant with friendly, funny staff and very tasty and reasonable prices. The breakfast buffet is prepared with a lot of love, coffee and cake are delicious. The ambience is very pleasant, music is in the background and not intrusive. If necessary, you can also sit outside if the weather is good. The restaurant is located a little away from the main streets and squares in the middle of Bielefeld's old town, so you won't be trampled on.

Delicious. There are dishes that are not available everywhere, which is very positive. Condition very friendly and recommends the dishes. The toilets aren't quite as nice, so one star less for the ambience, but you can overlook that because the rest is otherwise great.

A rustic restaurant with delicious, down-to-earth cuisine.

A very nice breakfast buffet with a great ambience. The buffet is a great size and is not overloaded. The food is of good quality, including fresh meat from the butcher and a great selection of bakery rolls. The service is quite lovely and attentive. The coffee variations all tasted very good and are not included in the price. This is completely fine, as the breakfast buffet only costs around 15 euros. A really small and fair price. What's particularly nice is that the scrambled eggs are freshly made and combined with toppings of your own choice. You should always make a reservation on the weekend, but you can leave your time until 1:30 p.m. I can recommend the restaurant without hesitation and would come back at any time.

A quaint shop with friendly, pleasant staff who also know how to have fun. Service and fantastic food. Crisp fresh and decent portions. Can't be compared with anything = really GREAT. AND this is not a fake review from relatives or friends 😉

Blinded by the reviews here, we came to this restaurant and were disappointed. Ordered 2x passion fruit iced tea, much too sour... ordered two burgers, paid a total of almost 48 euros for one, among other things. Burnt vegetable patty in the Veggi Burger that was barely cut through and tasted like it had been warmed up in the microwave. Rocula and tomatoes were soggy and the fries were dry, so much too expensive for this quality. Three waiters served us. After drinking we were forgotten and had to ask for our food. All the waiters were very friendly, but the last lady had "accidentally" not wanted to give change, assuming she would get a tip. When asked, she apologized and gave the change back. We would have liked to leave a tip, but unfortunately not for the quality and preparation of the food and drinks and the fact that we were forgotten. It's outrageous to pay so much money for something like this, unfortunately we can't recommend it at all.

Delicious breakfast and pleasant atmosphere

I'm torn. The food and drink were very tasty. Unfortunately, I couldn't tolerate some of it at all because I had severe diarrhea several times.

I have known the restaurant for many years, but this time the fried potatoes were neither good nor rubbery. Still the meat loaf, bland and no taste. It's a shame, I know it much better there...

I've had this review for the last few Months repeatedly adapted to the respective experiences in this restaurant. I'll put it this way: it started with full points. Unfortunately, the portions have now become significantly smaller and sometimes you don't get what you ordered (e.g. simple mayonnaise instead of aioli). It may be that the VAT increase is now reflected in smaller portions because they didn't want to change the price (and it's better not to, but with the sizes you can also save on eating out. Apart from that, information on the weekly menu does not always match what was actually meant. If Mondays are burger day, then as a customer I don't really care that Mondays aren't meant to be public holidays. Why do you even write it on the updated weekly menu? Some of the staff really stand out because of their annoying behavior. If you just wanted to have a drink, it can happen that every two or three minutes people ask you at the table whether everything is still OK. Sorry, but that just doesn't work! Then it's better to say directly if you don't want customers who initially only want to drink overpriced drinks and still want to keep it open whether they eat something or not. Current conclusion: nice location, staff basically friendly but sometimes really annoying. Food tasty, but partly faulty and some dishes significantly smaller than before (poor price-performance ratio).

Breakfast in the rustic tiled house is always an excellent way to start the day. Service and gourmet breakfast (as always) excellent. We will be back. Most certainly.

Very friendly staff and really attentive. The food actually tastes good, but it can be improved in various ways: Offer shrimp pasta with peeled shrimp, otherwise you have to look for them in the pasta and peel them first. Unfortunately, the dish is no longer hot.

We were there with a larger group. It worked great when we ordered our food selection in advance. The food came quickly and almost at the same time. The food was delicious and the selection was original, including many vegetarian dishes. What I liked most was the attentive service and the warm smile for the guest. The historical ambience is also impressive. Unfortunately it was a bit loud, but that hardly detracted from our good impression.

We had the tapas starter platter. Varied and very tasty. Enough for two people. The medium quality Lugana is completely sufficient for scene restoration. Nice location.

Even though the portions of some dishes (salad, pasta) have become a little smaller recently, the Kachelhaus is still my first stop when I want to fortify myself after a stroll through the city in Bielefeld, for example with a tapas plate.

We met friends there. A table reservation was necessary as it can be very busy even during the week. Our waiter was very friendly, funny and chatty. A nice evening. We will be back.

Ordered Falafel Bowl, Pasta Arrabbiata, And Tagliatelle, Lentil soup, and homemade Limonade and ginger ale. Person serving the table was helpful and courteous. Food portions are big enough. Falafel was crunchy and salad was fresh. Pasta Arrabbiata was good but it was too much oily for me. I mean literally at the end of the serving bowl, three to four spoons of oil significantly visible. Tagliatelle was nice, but lacked little bit of seasoning. For me lentils soup was a winner. Warm, felt well seasoned and nice to eat.

Friend lost all his hair in anger because of non-carbonated beer. If you don't honor the beer, it's not worth a good rating.

I had the pleasure of visiting the Kachelhaus restaurant in Bielefeld and can only rave about it! The ambience is simply beautiful - a perfect mix of style and cozy atmosphere that invites you to linger. The staff was extremely friendly, helpful and very attentive. From the moment we arrived, my son and I felt warmly welcomed. Our every wish was literally met and the staff did everything they could to make our visit pleasant. We ordered coffee, cocoa and cheesecake, and I have to say, everything was very tasty. The coffee was aromatic, the cocoa was pleasantly creamy and the cheesecake was fresh and delicious. Overall, our visit to the Kachelhaus was a thoroughly positive experience. I highly recommend this restaurant and will certainly come back soon. Many thanks to the entire team for the friendly hospitality!

Very good breakfast buffet. Refills were made regularly and the food always looked fresh. The service was very friendly and had everything under control despite the high demand. We'd love to come back! Addition from June 16, 2024: We were there again, this time just the two of us, and once again we felt very comfortable. Requests when reserving a table were taken into account and despite the full house, everything went like clockwork.

More beautiful outside than inside

We often go there for breakfast and it is absolutely recommended. Large selection of delicious things. Also excellent is the always nice and attentive staff. We enjoy coming there every time.

I drank local beer. The pizza dough is so thin that it's hard to stomach. It was late afternoon, so there weren't many customers, so it was relaxing.

Nice restaurant with a nice atmosphere

I was there for breakfast and was more than disappointed. The scrambled eggs were more brown than yellow and didn't taste like much. There were slices of mozzarella from the buffet that were already yellow on the edges, the waffles had burnt, hard residue inside that was so hard that I couldn't crush it with a knife. Which I tried after I had to spit them out. The tables look great, but no one ever seems to clean the cracks between the wood. There are so many crumbs there that I doubt they were from the day before. The service was nice and quick and responded well to my complaint. It wasn't her fault, it happened before.

The food was good, but for me there were still little things missing like croissants or Danish pastries. The service was nice. But the dishes were often not clean.

Unfortunately, the service (the young woman) was busy with herself and her cell phone...it's probably worst when there's not much going on. The kitchen is faster than the service with the drinks🤦‍♀️. The young man is super nice 👍. But I can't do everything alone!!!!!

It's always packed, the service and the ambience are good! The food is delicious and the brunch buffet is also great. And immediately afterwards there is lunch from 12 p.m., which doesn't happen that often in Bielefeld anymore. You can also host a party in an extra room.

The tiled house was once an insider tip in Bielefeld! Great food and a nice breakfast buffet that even offers options for people with gluten intolerance. Unfortunately, the staff has become more and more careless and inattentive in recent years. This is how an incredibly beautiful restaurant loses its charm! Very unfortunate

The three of us had lunch. We had red lentil soup, pelmenia and sweet potato fries. Overall the food was rather bland. I was also very surprised by the menu, which promised food from all regions of the world. Unfortunately, I often approach it with the attitude that the chef can't make up his mind and probably doesn't do anything really well. I had that impression here too. The service was good and the ambience was nice. Unfortunately the food was just okay. Nothing more is to be expected.

Unfortunately, there was no real excuse for this, which I think is a shame since I clearly pointed this out when I ordered. A good place to eat with friends. The burgers are recommended, the homemade fries are very tasty. The offer is very wide - from burgers to schnitzel, tarte flambée, palmeni, tapas, pasta, salads and some vegetarian dishes. There is something for everyone - but there is no consistent concept. Accordingly, the guest receives solid, satisfying cuisine without any big surprises or special depth. The location is furnished in a contemporary style, in a building with history and special exterior architecture. The music was a bit too styled and rhythmic on the last visit and too loud to accompany a meal. The service is very attentive, friendly and authentic.

Unser Essen war 5Minuten nach Bestellung am Tisch. Es war lieblos auf den Teller geklatscht und wenig lecker. Das Essen hatte nichts mit Genuss zu tun. Dafür muss man nicht in ein Restaurant. Das bekommt man zu Hause besser alleine hin. Dem Koch/der Köchin scheint die Freude am Job verloren gegangen. Schade

It's nice that there is also a delicious breakfast buffet during the week. The food is very tasty and beautifully prepared, the staff is very courteous and attentive and as a little “highlight” the eggs come in small pans. This means the egg is fresh, you can customize it to your taste and not much is thrown into the trash.

Went to the store on a Sunday around 9:20 p.m. to have a coffee because the opening hours on Google are until midnight. When I entered the store I was looked at strangely and was immediately told that they wouldn't be open for long. After I asked the employee about the opening times, she said that it had nothing to do with it. Since I was still waiting for another person, I couldn't place my order right away. After 2-3 minutes I was spoken to again with the statement, “It is no longer worthwhile for one person to be open longer or to pay 3 employees longer”… I really don’t know what to say to that. Either you should optimize the opening times but please don't send out customers who "just drink a coffee" and therefore don't leave a lot of money behind... whether one customer or 10, this work ethic is not justifiable. Was always happy in the tile house, but will never set foot in it again.

I really like being in the Kachelhaus, I was there 30 years ago when it wasn't what it is now. However, there are a few negative points. Breakfast: Without a buffet, everything is always great. Everything tastes very good. At the buffet it was not possible to order a soft egg, as none of the employees had any idea what the eggs at the buffet were like (one said soft, the other said hard - they were hard). It doesn't make sense that the scrambled eggs are served in a small cast-iron pan, as they continue to braise in it, which you also tasted and therefore went back. The salmon is better piled high than added. Dinner is always very good, although sometimes you wonder how fresh it is when it is served 5 minutes after ordering. However, that hasn't changed the taste so far. Everything on the menu has been delicious so far. If I reserve a table for two people and are then seated next to each other, I personally don't find that appropriate. Getting a seat opposite wasn't a problem after we talked to her. The service staff should also be more familiar with the card. If I order a Gin Mare with Tonic Water xy, I think you can assume that the person opposite knows what I'm talking about. And you have to get used to the menu, it's sorted differently than the standard in restaurants, but that's just a matter of getting used to. I will continue to visit the Kachelhaus because it is simply a cozy and friendly shop.

Clear recommendation: Pelmeni and Kachelhausburger, the fries also taste delicious. The selection of drinks is very good and the waitresses were very friendly. Always my pleasure !

We had two dishes: pasta with pumpkin that was still crunchy and dripping with fat, so that the soaked half in the lower part couldn't even be eaten. Other food was schnitzel with rice. It wasn't good, but at least you could eat it.

After a visit to the tiled house, you receive the present Diarrhea as a farewell. The atmosphere is very rustic. Almost all the tables were put together and you were sitting right next to strangers. This is not mine personally; I like to share my own table with my friends. The food was nicely presented and the taste was really okay. The only problem we had after eating was that we all had to run to the toilet at night. 🙂

The first time in the Kachelhaus for breakfast. Authentic shop, the breakfast was also ok, the coffee could have been a little hotter. Very pleasant background music and the volume wasn't annoying either. All in all 👍

Visited the Kachelhaus at lunchtime today. We ordered a burger and it came with a side of fries. Unfortunately the food was not freshly prepared or was left for too long. The pulled pork was kind of watery and the bun was completely soaked. And the fries were cold and didn't taste particularly good

We went to the breakfast buffet on a weekend - we reserved online, which wasn't a problem. Of course it is very crowded on weekends. The conditions were still very friendly and always tried hard! However, the vegan selection at the buffet left a lot to be desired (although vegan options were stated when making the reservation and advertised on the website). I found the price for the buffet very excessive. For example, there is a milk alternative available for the muesli, but the muesli itself (upon request) is not. There is a little cold meat, spread and jam, fruit salad, cucumber and tomato slices. I can do that at home too. Unfortunately I found it very disappointing, I have to say. For everyone else, the selection was very large: croissants, pancakes, yoghurt, homemade spreads, salads, eggs, sausages, bacon, sausage and cheese products, sweets, etc Unfortunately we won't be coming back, at least not for the buffet.
