Kachelhaus in Bielefeld

My girlfriend and I had breakfast at the Kachelhaus Bielefeld for the first time today. The breakfast buffet is very good. There is a good selection of food and drinks. The staff is very polite and the prices are good. Highly recommended, which is why I gave it 5 stars

Cool breakfast location with a selected, delicious buffet. The service was extremely good, friendly and on point. And a large group of 20 people can handle it easily and relaxed. Great!

The food as well as the service is perfect. Unfortunately, the restaurant is always a bit noisy due to its size and the large number of seats, but that doesn't take away from the taste and the very good service. The only real problem I have is that the cleanliness of the toilets has unfortunately deteriorated compared to previous visits. Broken toilet seats or toilet seats that are too small for the actual toilet and slightly “greasy” walls. Despite everything, a visit to this restaurant is always nice.

Service very quick and friendly. Breakfast buffet with plenty of choice. Scrambled eggs were freshly prepared for us with desired ingredients and brought to the table. Ambiance is rustic and has a unique charm. Prices are completely okay. Sanitary facilities didn't seem so inviting. The restaurant can also be reached on foot from the center car parks in a few minutes (we parked in the Loom and were there in under 10 minutes). I can recommend this restaurant with a clear conscience.

Food was great, service was very good. It bothered me that you had to sit shoulder to shoulder next to strangers. Me and my girlfriend felt a bit restricted.

We were in the tile house a long time ago. The service was great. The bowl I ate wasn't good, a lot of money for little. It wasn't as described.

The tiled house is a beautiful location. The food was ok, rather small portions. The waiter was unfriendly, although our table certainly gave him no reason to be annoyed.

The restaurant has a nice atmosphere and the staff was friendly. The food tasted good, but when it was served it was only lukewarm. The portions were also quite small - I wouldn't have been full without a starter. Overall it was okay, but I would have expected a little more for the price.

Courteous service, very nicely presented and drinks very quickly and of top quality. My companion and I didn't think of anything negative. Keep it up.

The place is quite nice, when it's full it gets loud and your own conversation is no longer "between us" 😂😉 Otherwise everything is good. Very friendly staff

A quaint restaurant in the heart of Bielefeld. The food was good, but not exactly cheap. It generally isn't anymore. The service was very "unobtrusive", the tables were not cleaned beforehand, so the ketchup from the guests was still sticking in front of them. I think the restaurant thrives on its uniqueness. It was fine.

We wanted to go out for dinner spontaneously (2 adults and 1 child) and it worked without a reservation. We could choose a table. The service was very nice and helpful. We didn't have to wait long for the food and our request for dessert was taken into account. Always my pleasure.

Food quite ok. The price is also ok. Unfortunately, Geschnacklich would have promised me more from Russian food. However, I am very spoiled by a friend of Russian origin who can cook wonderfully. Unfortunately, the tiled house doesn't come close to their level. But:... Still, super friendly service and a pleasant atmosphere, particularly suitable for larger groups (>15 people each). However, I recommend making a reservation in advance. :)

Great waiters who responded very well to both the younger and older guests. There were 14 of us there, everyone could eat at the same time and everything worked well. The food was good, value for money was right. We give a clear recommendation and will definitely come back! Thanks for the great evening!

Dry pelmeni from the supermarket. Prepared without love Far too expensive for little performance - simply not suitable. Better go to the trailer at the B1 hardware store and eat better pelmeni for half the price ;)

Our Christmas party this year was a success. The food tastes good, so does the service and the ambience is interesting. When the house is full, the volume level is quite high.

Once and never again. I found the atmosphere appealing and went there with my friends. Unfortunately, everything else, apart from the ambience, was just bad. I ordered pelmeni and discovered that they were pelmeni from the supermarket. I don't have to go to the restaurant for that. Absolute no-go in my opinion. But what wasn't worse was the service. The southern-looking man who served us today, December 14th, 2024, was not friendly in my opinion. That wouldn't have mattered if he hadn't done things that were absolutely unacceptable. At one point, without asking us, he simply placed the dirty dishes from the neighboring table in the middle of it while we were eating. What's that supposed to mean?? And while cleaning up our table he put a cup on my phone so it got scratched!!! He didn't say a word about it. Didn't even apologize. I didn't feel welcome at all and I won't go there myself and I certainly won't be able to tell you much about this place. I'm just speechless at how poorly he did his job. Conclusion: I definitely can't recommend this restaurant as long as the service is as bad as I experienced today. Also, I don't feel drawn to a restaurant that serves convenience food from a supermarket at a fairly high price.

Very good breakfast buffet, you could choose the scrambled eggs in advance with certain ingredients (mushrooms, sucuk, etc.). It was pointed out 10 minutes in advance that the buffet would be closing and that we were still "stocking up". Orange juice is included, coffee in any form costs extra, but that's what it's coffee for. A very nice atmosphere, always.

We had breakfast in the Kachelhaus for the first time today. I was impressed by the apparently homemade dips and salads, which is not standard. A good selection of cold cuts, cheese and fish. There was also Mett, which isn't necessarily the case everywhere. Plus delicious rolls, pofertjes, jams, fruit etc. Overall, a selection that justifies the price. Scrambled eggs with various ingredients can be made fresh upon request. The rustic retro furnishings match the building and look cozy. We'll be back

The bottom line is that we didn't feel comfortable in the tiled house. It is difficult to have a conversation at a low volume there, as stressful music is played very loudly in the restaurant. Therefore, people speak very loudly at all tables. Unfortunately, that made the tiled house uncomfortable for us. Overall the food was ok. However, I cannot recommend the tiled burger. I thought the price of the food was too high. The staff was very friendly and attentive. We won't come back.

It's a very sociable place, nice people, we especially liked the quiet table next door, so we could chat with our friends undisturbed while we ate since we haven't seen each other for a long time 🤩

We were guests at the Kachelhaus twice and were impressed by both visits. The price-performance ratio is fair and the quality of the food is good. The service was friendly and accommodating. Only the (apparently) new employees in the service team could be a little more attentive. ;) All in all, we were very satisfied and will definitely stop by more often.

A super delicious breakfast buffet (highly recommend the Mett 😋). Great ambience and very friendly service. It's a good place to stay, even if you just want to enjoy delicious coffee. We would be happy to come back next time we visit Bielefeld.

I didn't find the schnitzel that convincing

We were there with 2 couples. Reservation makes sense in advance. Saturday evening at 6:30 p.m. it was quite crowded there. The menu with a good selection. The food was very tasty, everyone enjoyed it 👍. Gladly again 😃

Really very nice restaurant with friendly, funny staff and very tasty and reasonable prices. The breakfast buffet is prepared with a lot of love, coffee and cake are delicious. The ambience is very pleasant, music is in the background and not intrusive. If necessary, you can also sit outside if the weather is good. The restaurant is located a little away from the main streets and squares in the middle of Bielefeld's old town, so you won't be trampled on.

Delicious. There are dishes that are not available everywhere, which is very positive. Condition very friendly and recommends the dishes. The toilets aren't quite as nice, so one star less for the ambience, but you can overlook that because the rest is otherwise great.

A rustic restaurant with delicious, down-to-earth cuisine.

A very nice breakfast buffet with a great ambience. The buffet is a great size and is not overloaded. The food is of good quality, including fresh meat from the butcher and a great selection of bakery rolls. The service is quite lovely and attentive. The coffee variations all tasted very good and are not included in the price. This is completely fine, as the breakfast buffet only costs around 15 euros. A really small and fair price. What's particularly nice is that the scrambled eggs are freshly made and combined with toppings of your own choice. You should always make a reservation on the weekend, but you can leave your time until 1:30 p.m. I can recommend the restaurant without hesitation and would come back at any time.

Blinded by the reviews here, we came to this restaurant and were disappointed. Ordered 2x passion fruit iced tea, much too sour... ordered two burgers, paid a total of almost 48 euros for one, among other things. Burnt vegetable patty in the Veggi Burger that was barely cut through and tasted like it had been warmed up in the microwave. Rocula and tomatoes were soggy and the fries were dry, so much too expensive for this quality. Three waiters served us. After drinking we were forgotten and had to ask for our food. All the waiters were very friendly, but the last lady had "accidentally" not wanted to give change, assuming she would get a tip. When asked, she apologized and gave the change back. We would have liked to leave a tip, but unfortunately not for the quality and preparation of the food and drinks and the fact that we were forgotten. It's outrageous to pay so much money for something like this, unfortunately we can't recommend it at all.

I'm torn. The food and drink were very tasty. Unfortunately, I couldn't tolerate some of it at all because I had severe diarrhea several times.

I have known the restaurant for many years, but this time the fried potatoes were neither good nor rubbery. Still the meat loaf, bland and no taste. It's a shame, I know it much better there...

I've had this review for the last few Months repeatedly adapted to the respective experiences in this restaurant. I'll put it this way: it started with full points. Unfortunately, the portions have now become significantly smaller and sometimes you don't get what you ordered (e.g. simple mayonnaise instead of aioli). It may be that the VAT increase is now reflected in smaller portions because they didn't want to change the price (and it's better not to, but with the sizes you can also save on eating out. Apart from that, information on the weekly menu does not always match what was actually meant. If Mondays are burger day, then as a customer I don't really care that Mondays aren't meant to be public holidays. Why do you even write it on the updated weekly menu? Some of the staff really stand out because of their annoying behavior. If you just wanted to have a drink, it can happen that every two or three minutes people ask you at the table whether everything is still OK. Sorry, but that just doesn't work! Then it's better to say directly if you don't want customers who initially only want to drink overpriced drinks and still want to keep it open whether they eat something or not. Current conclusion: nice location, staff basically friendly but sometimes really annoying. Food tasty, but partly faulty and some dishes significantly smaller than before (poor price-performance ratio).

Breakfast in the rustic tiled house is always an excellent way to start the day. Service and gourmet breakfast (as always) excellent. We will be back. Most certainly.

Very friendly staff and really attentive. The food actually tastes good, but it can be improved in various ways: Offer shrimp pasta with peeled shrimp, otherwise you have to look for them in the pasta and peel them first. Unfortunately, the dish is no longer hot.

We were there with a larger group. It worked great when we ordered our food selection in advance. The food came quickly and almost at the same time. The food was delicious and the selection was original, including many vegetarian dishes. What I liked most was the attentive service and the warm smile for the guest. The historical ambience is also impressive. Unfortunately it was a bit loud, but that hardly detracted from our good impression.

We had the tapas starter platter. Varied and very tasty. Enough for two people. The medium quality Lugana is completely sufficient for scene restoration. Nice location.

Even though the portions of some dishes (salad, pasta) have become a little smaller recently, the Kachelhaus is still my first stop when I want to fortify myself after a stroll through the city in Bielefeld, for example with a tapas plate.

Ordered Falafel Bowl, Pasta Arrabbiata, And Tagliatelle, Lentil soup, and homemade Limonade and ginger ale. Person serving the table was helpful and courteous. Food portions are big enough. Falafel was crunchy and salad was fresh. Pasta Arrabbiata was good but it was too much oily for me. I mean literally at the end of the serving bowl, three to four spoons of oil significantly visible. Tagliatelle was nice, but lacked little bit of seasoning. For me lentils soup was a winner. Warm, felt well seasoned and nice to eat.

We met friends there. A table reservation was necessary as it can be very busy even during the week. Our waiter was very friendly, funny and chatty. A nice evening. We will be back.

I had the pleasure of visiting the Kachelhaus restaurant in Bielefeld and can only rave about it! The ambience is simply beautiful - a perfect mix of style and cozy atmosphere that invites you to linger. The staff was extremely friendly, helpful and very attentive. From the moment we arrived, my son and I felt warmly welcomed. Our every wish was literally met and the staff did everything they could to make our visit pleasant. We ordered coffee, cocoa and cheesecake, and I have to say, everything was very tasty. The coffee was aromatic, the cocoa was pleasantly creamy and the cheesecake was fresh and delicious. Overall, our visit to the Kachelhaus was a thoroughly positive experience. I highly recommend this restaurant and will certainly come back soon. Many thanks to the entire team for the friendly hospitality!
