Jumbo Café Bistro in Erlangen

Great atmosphere, friendly service, delicious food (plenty of vegetarian and vegan options too). We were a large group with a reservation and had a lovely table with plenty of space. Plus, it's dog-friendly. I'd love to come back. I recommend ordering lots of different combinations of appetizers and main courses and trying a variety of dishes. If you're unfamiliar with the food, it's best to ask the friendly staff for recommendations. 😀

The food is good and traditional; … But regarding the service: The head waiter is rude and sometimes disrespectful to the guests. He rejects small change as tips, dismissing it as charity. The worst moment was when he greeted a long-time club member who came to the regulars' table after playing tennis and asked if he wanted to order anything. The guest declined, as he had to leave immediately. The head waiter then said: "If you don't have any more money, I'll bring you something, and I'll pay for it."

When I was here a year ago, everything was great. It seems a bit more expensive, but the prices for burgers are normal these days, and they also offer special burgers, so I think the price is justified. A few months ago, I wanted to make a reservation. October wasn't possible, but in November, the system offered me a free date, which I booked because the shop was "temporarily" closed. When I asked early whether they were actually open, I didn't get a response. The phone doesn't work. The website displays all the information as if they were open. I think it's a shame that this isn't communicated clearly.
