A friend recommended John's Burger to me. So, on my way back from Kiel Fjord, I made a little detour. It was worth it. The burger was very juicy and delicious. The staff was super friendly and accommodating. I highly recommend this restaurant. No frills.

Extremely disappointing handling of customer concerns We have been trying in vain for over a month to get our money back after a transfer was mistakenly made to this restaurant's account. Despite numerous attempts to contact them via all available channels, we have not received a satisfactory response. Instead, we have been repeatedly told that the error was ours and that they now need to check whether everything is legal. We have repeatedly offered to provide all necessary evidence to prove that this was an honest mistake and not an attempt at fraud. However, these offers have not been responded to. The only way to receive any response at all seems to be to mention negative reviews. This situation is beyond unsatisfactory and could have been resolved long ago with goodwill. Since we unfortunately no longer have confidence in an amicable solution, we will now initiate legal action and reserve the right to publicly document the further process. Overall, an extremely negative experience.

The best burgers around. Ever since John's opened in Kiel, it's been hard to eat anything else. Fresh, well-grilled, with local ingredients. The coleslaw is delicious, the fries are crispy. The service is always friendly. Only the music (very good) is sometimes so loud that you can hardly have a conversation. But in a pinch, you can simply pick up your lunch and eat it at home.

John's Burgers is like a little slice of America in the middle of Kiel. The burgers are juicy, properly grilled, and simply delicious, just as you'd expect from a classic US burger. It was a real treat!

Really good burgers! The menu was a bit confusing at first, and as a sauce lover, I personally would have liked a bit more variety or quantity. But: The burgers themselves were great! The patty was grilled to perfection, medium rare, super juicy, and really flavorful. The highlight for me: the sweet potato fries! Truly amazing—honestly, I haven't had anything this good in a long time. If you appreciate quality and great taste, this is the place for you. I'll be back!

We stumbled upon John's Burgers by chance. We received a warm welcome and excellent advice. I couldn't decide, but they helped me and brought me something from the kitchen to try anyway. The taste is 10/10, you can taste the quality. The prices are great too. A definite recommendation!

I can do that. It takes a while for the food to be ready, though. But it's worth it. The burgers and fries are delicious and freshly prepared.

Delicious food and friendly staff. The fries were very good, as were the spare ribs. The homemade BBQ sauce is generally slightly savoury, perhaps not to everyone's taste, but still very good.

John's citizen was not good, price/performance is not right. Fries don't taste like anything, and they're the very cheap fries that you can buy at McDonald's, but the difference is that the fries at McDonald's taste better than at yours. 15 € for a small citizen with fries that don't taste good...what a shame.

I remember my first burger from John's like it was yesterday. On a cold, windy Kieler Woche afternoon in 2011, I walked down the Kiellinie looking for something to eat. A glorious smell wafted into my nostrils, and I floated over to John's Burger Box as one floats in an old cartoon. At the Box, John greeted me. We talked about our experiences immigrating to Kiel and we discussed the merits of different local market's Hackfleisch. But more importantly, the burger was the best one that I'd had on that side of LaGuardia. I walked back to my work with the juices of victory running down my face, and with my hands covered in melted cheese. The rest of the week I returned to the Box every day, looking after it as if it were my own baby--a beautiful, slobbery baby. The baby went to school in 2015 with the opening of the store on Gutenbergstr. Now my baby is all grown up.

Super relaxed little shop, outside seating on the footpath. Extremely good burger, nice sauces, delicious weekly special menus off the menu. Top-cooked, high-quality meat, cool toppings. Gladly again.

Wau, das Restaurant war zwar fast voll, wir haben aber zu 4. noch einen schönen Platz ergattert. Es gab eine kurze Einweisung auf den Umgang mit der Speisekarte zum ankreuzen und schon konnte die Auswahl der Menüs losgehen. John persönlich gab uns dann auch noch eine Empfehlung seitens unserer Getränkeauswahl. Zur Essensqualität schreib ich nur kurz, da schon viel gelobt und geschrieben wurde: perfekte Burger, beste Pommes und als persönliches Highlight Mittwochs die "Chilli Cheese Fries" Beste wo Gibt!!!. Das Personal Topp, beste Laune, super freundlich, und immer auf Zack. Die Wartezeiten sind gering und bei der tollen Atmosphäre im Lokal sowieso zweitrangig. Die Preise sind bezüglich der Essens- und auch Getränkequalität, des Services im Rahmen und völlig akzeptabel. Vielen Dank für das schöne Erlebnis, wir kommen jetzt öfter und hoffen das es dieses super Restaurant noch lange in Kiel gibt.

I love John's Burgers! Unfortunately, I'm a vegetarian now - but John's burger is the only thing that sometimes makes me regret that decision. 🥲 The service is always super friendly and you leave the store with a smile every time. However, in my opinion, the vegetarian/vegan burgers don't come close to the ones made with meat. Nevertheless: Thank you for the best burger directly in Kiel and the wonderful caramelized onions! ❤️

We ordered takeout. The burger patties were still pink on the inside and super juicy. You can taste the high-quality ingredients (especially the bacon is excellent) and make the burger perfect. The fried chicken sandwich was also crispy on the outside and tender on the inside and very tasty. The fries were enough for two and were still warm and crispy.

Insgesamt eher für junge Leute. Gleichwohl wohl so gut wieder jeder Mensch Burger mag, sehe ich mich hier nicht. Vorab bitte darauf achten, dass alle Burger medium gebraten werden - diesen Hinweis habe ich leider überlesen und war komplett enttäuscht. Für mich war das zu roh und das ist echt nicht mein Ding. Mir wurde zwar angeboten, den Burger erneut zu garen, aber aufgrund der verbleibenden Zeit habe ich verzichtet. Das Personal beschreibe ich mal lieber als hip und in puncto Sauberkeit gibt es aus meiner Sicht Platz nach oben. Beim Toilettengang habe ich mich gefragt, ob ich evtl. auf der Personaltoilette bin. Hygienisch geht bestimmt anders. Mag aber auch sein, dass ich zu antiquierte Ansichten habe. Für mich ist das Gesamturteil leider nur knapp befriedigend.

Ein tollen und schwer angesagtes Lokal im Amerikanischem Stil. Das Essen ist sehr lecker und es gibt stets immer neue delikate Spezials. Dazu sind die Mitarbeiter stets immer gut gelaunt und sehr freundlich. Wirklich ein top Lokal welches nur zu empfehlen ist👍🏻

Very dirty. Many chairs are completely broken and there are dirty napkins everywhere on the table legs. The chicken sandwich is very good, but for the absolutely expensive price, the profit of which apparently doesn't go into maintenance, I wouldn't come back.

Were yesterday November 19th. the second time at John’s Burger on Gutenbergstrasse and we thought it was absolutely great. John’s Burger is a beautifully rustic shop that has nothing in common with the other burger shops you know. (Not McDreck or Strangler King).. dim lighting, thrown together furnishings, that's exactly what makes it so charming. (My opinion) open grill, you can see what's sizzling if you choose the right seat. Not a big selection. But definitely more than sufficient. With every meal there is a small portion of homemade coleslaw... the quality is absolutely top, both meat and burger buns or the various toppings right through to the fries. They are served really crispy, ketchup/mayo comes to the table in a bottle. The menu is in English, but it shouldn't be a problem even for those who don't speak the language. However, as far as Gutenbergstrasse is concerned, there are also very good and friendly employees. In addition to the burgers, the sandwiches (the ones in Burger Bun's) are also recommended are served). It was unusual at first, but it wasn't a disadvantage in terms of taste. The pulled pork was tender and not dry at all, the fried chicken on the sandwich was plentiful and juicy... the homemade barbecue sauce was a must! In terms of price, quality and portion size, it's absolutely top! In my opinion, we definitely recommend the Alpirsbacher Zwickel beer. The taste is really good... it goes well with the dishes... and very important... there has always been good music playing. It's definitely not the last time we've been here... when we come to Kiel in the future, we've planned a visit to John's Burger... keep it up.

Great burgers and ribs highly recommended

Today we ordered a burger and fries in the strawberry field around 2:45 p.m. Everything was good up to this point. Then the slightly annoyed chef was asked by an older lady if she could pay because she could no longer stand and wanted to wait in the car. He denied this loudly and quite aggressively. It's not her turn yet, but if everyone agrees, she can get the next one. Of course everyone agreed. But that wasn't what the lady asked. Later, more and more customers came and also two young men who ordered later than us but got their burger straight away. Whereupon, when you make a questioning gesture towards the chef (without having said anything), he immediately shouts across the parking lot in an absolutely aggressive tone that he doesn't explain the job to you so you shouldn't explain yours to him either. We wouldn't get our burger until the fries were ready and they weren't. A simple one would have been enough: since your fries aren't ready yet, the two of them have already received their burgers. You can only shake your head at this disrespectful manner. We don't actually know anything like that from John's Burgers. Despite everything, the food was and is always simply great!!!!!

The taste is okay but nothing special, you can prepare something similar or even better at home. The burgers are also relatively small for the price! Based on many other reviews, I'm not the only one who shares this opinion. And please don't harp on electricity and purchasing prices. The size has been the same for many years.

My experience with Johns Burgers food truck at the autumn market in the Molfsee open-air museum on September 29th, 2024 First of all, I would like to say that I had a very good experience in the Kiel branch. What I got in Molfsee today was absolutely subterranean. I'll start with the staff. Is it part of the concept that English is spoken explicitly? You order in German and get answers in English. What's that supposed to mean? impudence. The music was also terribly loud. So communication and acoustics are sheer horror. Furthermore, the staff did not act in a coordinated manner at all. Nobody knew what their area was. It also seemed completely overloaded. I had to wait a whopping 30 minutes for my burger. Mind you, for a burger. There is a lack of trained staff here. The burger that was served to me was, how should I put it, outrageous. First of all, far too small for 10 euros. Burger patty black, onions black. Burnt taste. Some customers have brought their burgers back. Rightly so. In the end, I felt sorry for both of them. If the boss is reading this, please go there, train properly or help. More staff? For 10 euros I expect absolute premium quality. Unfortunately, this was not even remotely recognizable. Too bad.

John's Burger enriched our wedding celebration with a food truck :-) Our guests and we were very excited! Communication in advance was always quick and service-oriented. We would especially like to thank the two friendly and personable employees from Johns Burger on site in the truck for their work.

I had the best fried chicken sandwich I've ever eaten here. In the menu with really good fries and a drink it was just under 18 euros. The store offers both indoor and outdoor seating. We waited briefly and found seats. The waitresses were very friendly, but some only spoke English. You order at the counter. I'd love to come back :)

In my opinion the best burgers ever. Nowhere does the meat taste as good as here. There is almost no need for anything else. That's how good it tastes. My favorite here is the cheeseburger with jalapeño and crispy bacon. The vegetarian one with fried egg is also recommended. The ambience isn't something that invites me, but that's not that important here either. It just seems authentic. Important. English is spoken here. It's just an American original. I haven't met anyone here who understands German yet.

All I can say is that everything at John's Burgers was and is great. I'll be back!

A very good burger shop in Kiel. Very tasty 😋

The patties of the "classic burgers" (including cheeseburgers) on the menu are made from mixed mince (pork/beef) and are more of a thick boulette than a classic burger pattie (pure beef). In terms of taste, the Chesseburger couldn't perform: no roasted aromas, no meat taste, no cheese note. Plus the burgers are really tiny (Ø)! A menu (14.90 €): Cheeseburger + fries (+ Cola) is not nearly filling and doesn't make you happy either. The relatively expensive additional burger toppings are sparsely found on the burger and hardly stand out in terms of taste (including caramelized onions). The bottle of Hellmann's mayo that was handed to the table with the fries released a half-watery, half-creamy mass. As a precaution, I refrained from eating it. In cities like Hamburg or Berlin the burger bar is significantly higher, probably because there are more competitors there. It's a shame, I was hoping for more.

No plate and no knife! Not interested in a repeat, both burgers had a soggy consistency and one of them was well done, even though both were ordered medium. The selection of Fritz drinks was very limited. The fries were acceptable. What's also not so nice: ketchup and mayo are left unrefrigerated on the table. The signage for the toilets was also very confusing.

Ordered burger without cheese, got burger with cheese. Luckily, no one answers the phone. To top it off, you can then pay €18 for the menu, which you actually can't eat if things go badly... at least the fries were ok for €18. Before you have any questions: it's not possible to go there and exchange it on the spot because the break to eat is unfortunately limited.

I tried a cheeseburger at the food truck in Wacken today. The one before looked very good, but unfortunately the patty was completely raw inside. Shouldn't actually happen with minced meat in this form.

Arrived relatively suddenly on Thursday evening. We sat inside. I ordered the Hüttner menu. There were too many fries for my taste and hunger. But the burger was really great: the patty - mmmm super tasty, I also had a fried egg and jalapeños as an add-on topping. Man, that was delicious. Cool music, finally not mainstream, but “Journey” and other rock greats. The ambience is also not mainstream - cool. Super nice service in front of and behind the counter. Anytime again - thank you John and colleagues.

Snack stand in Wacken. Wait 20 minutes for 15 pieces of fries for 4 euros. The employees prefer to stand with their cell phones instead of serving people.
