Johannsens Restaurant in Timmendorfer Strand

We have been coming to Johannsens at least once a year on our vacation for the last 4 years. It's always an experience - for the heart, for the eye and for the palate! A place to feel good with a great team!

A real pleasure eating here. Nice staff, lovely interior.

We also went there twice for dinner this holiday. We were thrilled again. Our friends who were there for the first time are already planning further visits there. The dishes are very tasty and well prepared, as well as appetizingly presented. The service still leaves nothing to be desired. All employees are attentive and extremely friendly without being too intrusive. They are well trained and are happy to provide good advice on your selection. And when it comes to the ambience, the photos on the website speak for themselves. Rustic, cozy...a dream!! In December, the Christmas tree in front of the window rounds off the restaurant's Christmas atmosphere.

We can highly recommend the restaurant! The atmosphere and volume is very pleasant. The service was very friendly and quick. The food, we had duck and Königsberger meatballs, came to the table hot and we enjoyed it very much. The drink prices were also reasonable. In my opinion the aquarium is too small for the fish 😔 Table reservation is recommended.

We like to go to Johannsens when we are in Niendorf. This time we had the game soup and deer/wild boar. Everything was very tasty, the only downside: the food wasn't really hot. The service is quick and courteous, we will definitely come back.

Been here for the first time today. We felt very comfortable from the first minute. The ambience was great, the service was great, and the food (we had kale) was absolutely delicious.

The Johannsens is a quaint, rustic restaurant with a feel-good factor. The waitresses were very friendly and attentive, and extra requests were no problem at all. The food was very tasty and the price-performance ratio was absolutely fine. I felt completely comfortable and welcome there and would be happy to come back.

Unfortunately very disappointing!!! After a long time, we visited the Johannsens restaurant again, where, according to rumors, there was a change of ownership. But we didn't feel that way. We were warmly welcomed and looked after in a very friendly manner. However, when we received our food (far too quickly, in our opinion), the disappointment began. My wife ordered the pan fish, The children choose the fish fillet and the small schnitzel from the children's menu. I had been looking forward to the Königsberger Klopse for a long time. Even small changes to the children's meals were no problem and were carried out by the friendly staff at no extra charge (which is not a given on the coast). However, just looking at it made us lose our minds The food that was prepared and quickly placed at our table whetted our appetites. My wife's panfish lay on the plate in a thick, skin-covered sauce that had already burned into the plates. (As if warmed in the microwave or kept warm) The portion size of the fish fillet was barely larger than our daughter's, but it cost three times as much. The kids were able to completely write off the house fries that were full of deep fryer grease. They were inedible. My Königsberger Klopse were also served with a small amount of extremely thick cream sauce, (if it had at least tasted good) tasteless and very bland, without the usual sour taste! Well, now I had to cut the very dry, hard meatballs with a knife, which were more reminiscent of a hospital stay. This evening ended for the four of us hungry and dissatisfied, which was a real shame. Only the service was very friendly and competent, but we were not asked whether we were satisfied and we were not asked about the full plates that were returned. We had fond memories of the Johannsens some time ago... But this evening was, in short, not a pleasant experience

The restaurant offers good, high-quality food at reasonable prices in an inviting ambience, worth seeing, put together in the style of a sailing ship, which also includes a central aquarium with sea fish. The staff is attentive and very friendly. We will definitely come back!

Please also note the attached addendum! Very nice location with a view of the pier. The interior, with its interior reminiscent of a ship's deck, is very original and is cozy and attractive. A lot of effort has been put into this. The service is attentive, fast and friendly. The famous exception here is a waiter who lacks professionalism and tries to replace it with arrogance. The diverse, tempting menu is pleasant. The varied drinks menu offers, among other things, a good selection of beers and a good wine list. The attractively presented dishes visually satisfy even the most discerning souls. Solidly prepared by hand and satisfyingly mediocre in terms of taste, there is nothing to complain about with the food considering the average prices. The price level of the drinks, however, is much higher and cannot be justified for some drinks. Unfortunately, after you have finished your meal, you are asked to leave the table as it needs to be set for subsequent reservations. Here you now have the option to pay and leave the restaurant or take a seat at the bar (which is generally already full). A cozy, harmonious evening for two is out of the question here. Conclusion: due to the beautiful, original interior, this restaurant is definitely worth visiting. Addendum: We tried it again this year (2024) with Johannsens and this time we are completely thrilled in every respect. Therefore the rating has now been changed to absolutely recommendable. Many thanks to the entire Johannsens team for two wonderful evenings.

I ate at Johannsen's today and was very satisfied. I chose the pan fish with fried potatoes and mustard sauce. Well, the fish was fried a little dry, but still tasty. For dessert I treated myself to the pumpkin parfait. The atmosphere is rather rustic with a lot of maritime decoration. Despite the restaurant being full, the service staff was friendly and professional. The boss can consider himself lucky that he has such good staff. A reservation is an advantage.

Kurz vorher telefonisch reserviert, kamen wir hungrig im hoch bewerteten Restaurant mit Meerblick an und freuten uns auf einen schönen Abend. Bis wir die Bestellung abgeben konnten, verging bereits eine Viertelstunde. Wir hätten uns sehr über eine zuvorkommende Bewirtung gefreut. Erst nachdem wir bestellt hatten der Hinweis, es würde mindestens eine halbe Stunde dauern, bis das Essen kommt, die Vorspeise schneller. Die Vorspeise kam erst nach Rückfrage und circa einer Stunde, die Hauptspeisen erst nach anderthalb Stunden und zunehmend genervter Entgegennahmen unserer Rückfragen. Das Essen schmeckte zwar akzeptabel, glich damit den Rest der Erfahrung aber nicht aus. Alles in allem blieb die Erfahrung enttäuschend.

Ausgezeichnete Küche in Premiumlage. Reservierung unbedingt ein paar Tage vorher notwendig, wenn man drinnen sitzen will. Immer sehr voll. Essen kam trotzdem zügig und war wirklich sehr, sehr gut. Die Gaststube ist mit Seemannsartikeln von der Sturmlampe über Tauwerk bis zur Harpune reich geschmückt und sehr gemütlich. Personal ist flink und sehr bemüht.

Nice, rustic atmosphere in a good location, but unfortunately mediocre food. Schnitzel with fried potatoes, where the fried potatoes taste dry and like they have been warmed up, is unfortunately too expensive for that. The sauce that was ordered was only served 10 minutes after the main course had already been served.

We were there for dinner with a small child: rustic atmosphere, very friendly and attentive service and really good food! The prices are “typical for the area”, but also quite reasonable for the quality, so we definitely recommend it!

We sat outside with a view of the sea. the waitresses were very friendly and helpful. The food is not cheap, but it is very fresh and tasty. We had Wiener Schnitzel and Pannfisch, both highly recommended.

Most of the service staff were very nice, but unfortunately our waitress wasn't. My fried potatoes tasted very burnt and were inedible, fish and salad were good. Unfortunately I only got a half-hearted apology and apparently it wasn't passed on and I ended up paying €28 for a side salad and two pieces of fish. There was nothing wrong with the others' food, but they don't see me anymore.

Not to be topped, everything was perfect, super delicious, very attentive and humorous service. Ambience is really great. There were eight of us and everyone was really impressed with the overall package. Thank you and see you next time 😍

The restaurant is not in the first location on the beach, but you still have a lot to see from the water. The food was hot and delicious. Special requests were also implemented. The atmosphere is rustic, but the seats could only be covered. All in all, a great restaurant with friendly service and delicious and fresh food.

Johannsens is one of the best addresses in Niendorf for delicious food and good service. Good price-performance ratio. The table reservation via the homepage is exemplary. We would love to come back...

The stylish furnishings and perfect lighting ensure a relaxed dinner. Service: The service is first class, friendly and attentive. The staff knows the menu and wine selection inside out and makes excellent recommendations. Food and Drink: The menu combines traditional and modern influences. Everyone will find something here. There are traditional but also more unusual dishes that are simply delicious. The drinks menu is large and the wine list is great too. Value for money: The price segment is justified given the high quality of the food, the excellent service and the stylish atmosphere. Conclusion: The Johansens Restaurant is a highlight for lovers of great cuisine and good service. A must to do something good for yourself. Unreservedly recommended!

Maybe three stars are a little too low for the food, but you can't give it 3.5. We were here more than once 2 years ago and the food was clearly better and tastier - maybe the chef has changed. The asparagus “cream” soup was very thin and had no hint of cream. Otherwise we had pan fish - the fish was a bit bland, the mustard sauce was rather watery and not creamy and instead of a colorful side salad (as it said on the menu) there was cucumber salad. The pasta with shrimp had enough shrimp and the pasta had a moderately tasty tomato sauce base. In contrast to this time 2 years ago, the noodles were mega good.

The restaurant is attractively decorated, although I don't like large fish in relatively whole form Small aquarium! Service was not customer oriented and grumpy. A boiled egg with the asparagus could not be arranged for a vegetarian.
