Joe Peña's in Backnang

I ate at Joe Peña's again and enjoyed some cocktails. The men's restroom has been renovated! I thought it was great once more. For dessert, the baked vanilla ice cream in a cornflake crust, I personally missed having a small bowl of chocolate sauce. But I borrowed a little chocolate from my wife, and then it was perfect for me. All in all, I have to say, it's a fantastic restaurant, great staff, always friendly, and the food is excellent. We'll definitely be back. Oh, and every day after 10 p.m., if I remember correctly, every cocktail is only €7.50. Can't complain about that!

It was very busy because of the music night. The service was fantastic. Super friendly, cheerful, very attentive, always aware of who might need something and seemed very organized. The food was delicious and beautifully presented. We felt very comfortable.

After several visits, whether as a couple, a group of four, or even in a large group, I was always satisfied. The service and drinks were excellent. The cocktails were really good. I've tried a variety of dishes since then and have been satisfied every time. I hope it stays this way. You should definitely make a reservation; it's almost always full.

We ate at this restaurant and, unfortunately, it was a very disappointing experience overall. Because it was very warm, we wanted to sit outside. However, we were told that this wasn't possible without a reservation, so we had to sit inside. Shortly after, other guests arrived without reservations and were free to choose whether they wanted to sit inside or outside – we found this very rude and unfair. The food took an incredibly long time to arrive. When we finally ordered more drinks, they never arrived. The issue of gluten-free service was particularly serious: We were repeatedly assured that the food was gluten-free. However, my husband had a clear reaction to gluten, which shows that the food was definitely not gluten-free. When we asked, we were again told it was gluten-free, which simply can't be true. This is not only annoying but also very dangerous to our health. The only positive point: Our server, a very nice, young blonde woman, was extremely friendly and polite. Their service was really pleasant – but unfortunately it couldn't make up for the many other negative aspects.

My favorite restaurant in the city. I come to Backnang between 5 and 10 weeks per year and I always eat here. All dishes are delicious and people are very kind. Taco tuesday !!! Greetings from the frenchman who sits by the river

We've been there several times and will go back again. The service is fast and super friendly, the food is incredibly delicious, and the entire staff is relaxed and friendly. Unfortunately, I have to deduct a star for the ambiance because it was quite drafty where we sat. But otherwise, it's really great and absolutely recommended!

The wait staff were super friendly, cheerful, and very helpful. We had a medium-sized dog with us, which was warmly welcomed and even made room for us. The food came quickly and was really delicious! Unfortunately, they didn't ask for drinks again, and there were a lot of spiders and webs in the corners. But all in all, we would go back.

Three of us, including a toddler, ate at Joe Peña's. I had a dry-aged steak, which I didn't like at all. When I asked about it, I was told that this was due to the special preparation method and that everything was fine. Since I still didn't like the meat, the restaurant owner insisted on serving me a better alternative. The "Cubana" steak was exactly what I had imagined. We'd be happy to come back, even with our child.

We were there on July 16th and were served truly 'trash'. I ordered Taco Birria – which was two small pancakes filled with discount pulled pork, served with a watery 'chilli sauce'. I paid €3.50 (extortionate!) for a mini bowl of guacamole. Although you can't really call it guacamole – I could have made it better at home; they forgot the garlic and it was laced with tomatoes (€17.40). My husband had El Asado de Yucatán – it was two slices of discount pork garnished with a bit of chili paste – here, the most you could eat was the side salad (€16.90). We said we didn't like it – but they didn't accommodate us (e.g., with a free drink?!) – instead, they obviously watched us eat. Apparently, they knew what they were serving us. At €60 including two cocktails and a beer, it was way too expensive, and to top it all off, our stomachs rebelled 😔 Conclusion: Drinking cocktails - yes! Eating out - never again! Tip: There are much better Mexican restaurants in Ludwigsburg 😉

Yes, highly recommended, good selection of dishes and drinks, there is always something to complain about somewhere, but all in all, it was very good. We went there twice in a row to eat outside in summer temperatures.

Es war wie immer richtig lecker. Die Bedienung war sehr freundlich. Etwas enttäuscht waren wir vom Nachtisch. Die Schokoladensoße war nicht warm und die Churros etwas hart. Schade! Aber ansonsten hat alles gestimmt.

I have to say in advance that we had booked a table for the street festival. We didn't realize that the guest room was later converted into a dance floor. Maybe you should have said this beforehand! These "conversion measures" (during our meal) made us feel like we were in the train station hall. Employees kept walking past us with tables and chairs and even got stuck on my chair twice. The food was very good, but not cheap either. 100 euros for two (including drinks) is no problem... If we had known all this beforehand, we would have chosen a different date. Update December 31, 2024 This time everything worked out. The table was great, the service was very friendly and the food was very good. The cocktails are also recommended. I recommend reserving a table in advance!

The tables could be bigger and sturdier, with food and cocktails a bit cramped. Attentive, friendly and fast service, it couldn't be better! Unfortunately, the new menu is very confusing as the dishes are described in text form with background information. This can be better laid out, such as just listing ingredients and using different fonts or bold, etc. But since it always tastes delicious, we will definitely come back!

I went to Joe Pena's for the first time with a friend. Since it was only my second time eating Mexican food, I wasn't very familiar with the food. The waiter therefore had to instruct us something about the food. His explanations were very good, so we knew exactly what we were going to eat. I can recommend the restaurant without reservation. I would also like to come back.

One of our favorite places for years. The service staff are always friendly and accommodating. The food is super tasty and always of excellent quality. The rooms are cozy, with dim lighting and candles on the tables. Everyone will find their favorite food here. It's best to reserve!

It has definitely become our favorite. Large portions and very tasty prepared. There are also different promotions on different days. Tuesday is "Taco Tuesday" and I have to say, it's worth it. I actually hate avocado but I ate the guacamole there. And the staff is amazing!!!!! Super nice and always ask questions. The atmosphere there is great. Very relaxed. And the food isn't just greasy but really well balanced. Update: 10/15/24 PURE MADNESS!! The food is just super delicious. And the service always looked after us.

How can you charge €3 for an extra portion of cheddar dip upon request if the mini portion of the taquitos is not enough? Should have been on the menu or simply taken for granted like in other restaurants... But that's not understandable. Too bad. One guest less.

As usual, very tasty food. The service was incredibly attentive and on point. Cocktails are really great! (You can just notice the freshness and ingredients) The menu is nicely written, with stories about each dish, where it comes from, etc. It can be really tiring if you're hungry and want to order quickly but have to read forever until you know what the dish is. (a paragraph between info about the area and the composition part would be helpful). All in all, a great restaurant for fans of Mexican food.

Wir gingen gerne zu diesem Restaurant und fühlten uns immer wilkommen, da das Personal sehr freundlich und zuvorkommend war. Am heutigen Abend war dem nicht so. Wir bestellten, wie gewohnt das Essen, jedoch war die Wartezeit mit über einer Stunde nicht hinnehmbar. Als das Essen endlich kam, fragte ich nach dem Grund. Der Kellner flüchtete sich in Ausreden ( zu wenig Küchenpersonal, sie haben nicht Reseviert da kann das passieren !), während an anderen Tischen Gäste, die mit uns dort ankamen , trotz nicht Reservierung, berets gegessen hatten. Statt sich für die lange Wartezeit zu entschuldigen, meinte der Kellner nur, warum er das tun sollte und wir müssen das ja nicht essen. Wir habe das Essen sofort zurückgehen lassen und verließen diese Gastwirtschaft. Wir werden diese auch nicht mehr aufsuchen. Die lange Wartezeit und das Verhalten des Kellners sind für ein Restaurant in dieser Preisklasse nicht hinnehmbar.

Wir saßen im Freien unter toller Kastanie. Nettes Ambiente. Am Besuchsabend war sehr viel los, daher war die Servicegeschwindigkeit etwas langsam. Wir hatten lediglich Snacks bestellt. Diese waren sehr gut und Preis/Leistungsverhältnis hat auch gepasst. Zu den Hauptgerichten kann ich daher keine Bewertung abgeben. Was ich auf den Tellern der anderen Gäste gesehen habe sah echt "Mouth-Watering" aus! Die Belegschaft ist freundlich, zuvorkommend und positiv auf Gäste orientiert.

Super nice service, very attentive. But on the one hand, I got my mojito with black mint leaves that I had to take out. I noted this too. The next mojito was exactly the same. That was a bit disgusting. The food is good, but not THE portions that you would expect from a Mexican restaurant, so I didn't think the price was that good. But it tasted great. That has to be said. There is actually one star deducted because the thing about the mint leaves really bothered me, even though it was mentioned.

The food actually tastes good, unfortunately I think the portions are a bit too small for the prices. Service staff are very friendly, but what bothered me was that the lady was with us every few minutes and "added her two cents" - that was for me personally just too much. It's okay to come here two or three times, but that also has its limits. The ambience is really beautiful, you really can't fault it at all.
