Were at the JIA for the first time and were asked immediately upon entry whether we could help. After we chose the spot, we were briefed on the JIA rules. Drinks are available in various refrigerators where you can help yourself, the menu is available via QR code. Above the open kitchen you can see various dishes on two screens and you get an overview of what they look like. All dishes are made fresh and can be seen by the guest; for the duck, the waiting time of 20 minutes was also pointed out directly. All in all a great concept with top quality drinks and food, we'll be happy to come back.

Mega, mega, mega! We were here with my old man (four of us) who was skeptical at first because he always associates a Chinese restaurant with a buffet. But the personal atmosphere, watching noodles being made and the incredible quality of the noodles changed my father's mind! The various dumplings were really great, the soup with chili oil takes your shoes off (in a good way). The beers are very well selected, really good and go excellently with the pasta. My wife had the duck, very very tasty! My peanut noodles with chicken were amazing, completely different taste worlds. All in all, an absolute asset to the gastronomy scene in Dortmund. This Chinese restaurant stands out pleasantly from the other "ordinary" buffet restaurants in Dortmund. It now explains why it is so difficult to get a table here. You definitely have to book a table here in advance!

Went there for a birthday to have vegan options. Been going frequently ever since. Friendly staff, really tasty food including great vegan meals of which many are freshly made at the bar where you can watch the process. Definitely a favorite!

The JIA in the Kaiserstraße district is a small Chinese restaurant that specializes in dumplings. We tried different dumplings, fried and steamed. The dumplings tasted good, but not a revelation. We expected more here. The service is very nice. The seating, mainly high chairs, is not that comfortable.

The tastiest food in Dortmund. Dumplings in chili soup are my absolute favorite. Come regularly.

A really special shop for Asian cuisine. There is no sushi here, just handmade noodle and soup dishes. The dumplings were also highly recommended. These dishes are also available in vegetarian versions and, if you want, with vegetarian mince, for example. The staff is very friendly and happy to give advice if you wish. Also worth highlighting is the large selection of craft beers. It's self service for the drinks. In summary, a shop that I can highly recommend. We'd love to come back.

Small, manageable restaurant, which is a plus and is by no means meant as a negative thing. Very inviting and nice atmosphere, the service is very friendly and the food is also very tasty. We would rather go to a smaller, fine restaurant to eat well than to mass-produce food. We enjoyed the glass noodles with enoki the most, followed by the dumplings with pork and cabbage.

Very clear restaurant, which at first (in terms of size) is somewhat reminiscent of a fast food restaurant. Luckily the first impression (fast food) is completely wrong! Here, guests experience outstanding Asian cuisine and extremely friendly, unobtrusive service. I was completely blown away by the unexpectedly large selection of craft beers and the unusually good advice. I'm already looking forward to my next visit!!! JIA is a real enrichment for Dortmund's restaurant landscape - the hosts are super friendly and relaxed. The hand-pulled ribbon noodles are a real highlight on the menu and are complemented by all kinds of steamed and fried dumplings and baozis. We now come regularly with the whole family!

I arrived at this highly-rated restaurant around 6:30 PM today, eager to try their soup noodles. When I got there, all the tables were occupied, and only the bar seats were available. I told the owner, "I am alone," and she pointed to a spot next to a man at the bar and said, "You can sit with this handsome guy." This made me feel a bit awkward. The man noticed my awkwardness and kindly made some more space for me. I sat down at the empty spot. During my meal, several customers finished and left, freeing up some tables. I asked the owner if I could move to one of these empty table, but she curtly replied, "No! The table are already reserved." I noticed that all the tables had "Reserved" tags on them, so it seems that single diners can only sit at the bar. The bar seating design is very uncomfortable for eating, and one of the customers next to me even stood while eating and left quickly. Since the seating was very cramped, I moved slightly after the customer next to me left and found that the counter was very dirty. No one came to clean it before serving my food. Seeing how busy the place was, I didn't say anything. I ordered the beef soup noodles, which were indeed delicious, but there was very little broth. After a few sips, the noodles absorbed most of it. I asked the owner for some additional broth, but she only added some soy sauce broth, which was disappointing. When it came time to pay, I waited for a long time at the bar while the servers, who kept saying they were too busy, passed by me. There were only two servers in the restaurant, which was not enough to handle the crowd. Finally, the owner noticed I had been waiting for a long time and came over to take my payment. Overall, the food at this restaurant is quite good, but the service and environment need improvement. I hope the owners will pay more attention to the customer experience, particularly in terms of service quality and cleanliness.

Wir waren in letzter Zeit gleich zweimal da und total positiv überrascht. Das Essen frisch und lecker, nettes Personal, tolle Beratung. Und das Preis/Leistungsverhältnis stimmt! Wer die chinesische frische Küche mag, ist hier richtig. Reservieren nicht vergessen. Es ist nicht so viel Platz. Einziges Manko ( wenn man es so nennen möchte): Getränke muss man sich aus dem Kühlschrank selber holen.

We ate here for the first time. We had number 38 on the menu. Really very tasty! The service was quick and very friendly. I can't rate the ambience inside because we sat outside.

This was our first time at JIA. With our friends we wanted to go to a good Chinese restaurant without a buffet! So I asked Google and, trusting the stars, went to the JIA without further information… We expected something completely different, but after initial uncertainty we were absolutely positively surprised. The first thing that strikes you is the friendliness and willingness to help, both on the phone and on site. The restaurant is really very small, but it has something. You can watch the chef do his truly impressive work. You sometimes sit on high chairs in the window and get your own drinks from the fridge. You just have to get involved with it... But don't worry, it has absolutely nothing to do with the "all you can eat and drink temples" where you might meet your dining companion by chance in the corridor or in the queue to the buffet, balancing overflowing plates and bravely having a chat while standing there you don't meet at the table... If you're looking for something like that, you're in the wrong place... You can view the menu via a QR code on your cell phone, which may be a bit of a challenge depending on your phone, but it will help if you're overwhelmed. ☺️ At first glance, the dishes seem to be expensive when you look at the presentation, the portion size and the surroundings. But appearances are deceiving... You have to be careful not to compare yourself to the Europeanized, glutamate-filled Chinese restaurant dishes, because the dishes at JIA have nothing in common with that... The taste is unique, the freshly made noodles and dumplings are absolutely amazing, the seasoning is to die for and the quantity is more than sufficient. At many tables, the pasta was packed in “Doggi Bags” because the portions were not enough. Eating the really long endless noodles wasn't so easy with chopsticks, a spoon and a fork, but it didn't detract from the whole experience. The dumplings and baozi were also very good and delicious. Only the duck with the pancakes wasn't very popular with our friend. The duck does, but the pancakes and the “kit” don’t. However, this is a purely subjective assessment and has nothing to do with the quality of the dish. All in all, we had a wonderful evening with very tasty, good food and nice impressions and we will definitely be back!

The noodles are shaped according to individual wishes and you can watch the chef skillfully transform them into artful ones. A special highlight is the homemade kimchi, which is simply incredibly delicious. What really makes the restaurant stand out is not just the food, but also the exceptionally friendly staff. Despite the hectic operation and the many orders, the employees always keep a smile on their faces and thus ensure a pleasant atmosphere. You really feel welcome and in good hands here. We have now become real fans of JIA and can recommend it without reservation. A visit to this restaurant is an absolute must for anyone who loves Asian food. You definitely won't regret it! Es ist Mittwoch 17.15 Uhr und der kleine aber feine Laden ist gut voll und durchreserviert. Gutes Zeichen, dachten wir. Und so war es auch. Sehr leckeres Essen. Wir hatten Dumplings als Vorspeise und wunderbare Nudelgerichte als Hauptspeise. Der Service ist sehr aufmerksam und nett. Getränke holt man sich selber aus Kühlschränken. Unser Fazit: Nächstes Mal reservieren und es wird ganz bestimmt bald ein nächstes Mal geben.

Great food, great service, special drinks and a very pleasant owner.

Nice fresh long noodles with variation in shapes, dumplings taste more like mass production, the Peking duck is of course not authentic but appropriate for the price range. Too bad there is no dessert. The owner's reaction to more critical reviews is unprofessional and aggressive; it is debatable whether such a defiant impression is good advertising for possible guests and his establishment.

The food is good and the staff friendly, the atmosphere matches. However, I think the prices are significantly too high for what you get. Unfortunately, the owner's reaction to the reviews on this topic below is neither appropriate nor effective. If you compare this with another Asian restaurant in the neighborhood, you can feel a big difference: JIA has a self-service concept where you get your drinks yourself from a refrigerator and only the food is brought to you. You have to like it.
