Very tasty and authentic. It's practically the same as if you were traveling in Asia. Friendly service. Reasonable prices.

The restaurant is rather small but still quite cute. The dumplings were very tasty, as were the noodles, but unfortunately, there were relatively few vegetables (just a few cucumbers and carrots).

Jia – The Taste of Home is a really special place in Dortmund 🍜🥟. The food is pure umami! The noodles are lovingly made fresh every day and come in all sorts of delicious varieties, from hearty soups to peanut-sauce noodles (which I tried and absolutely loved). I also had the chicken salad with vegetables and chili, which was fresh, spicy and delicious. But the real highlights are the dumplings and baozi: I tried the steamed beef and veg dumplings and the fried beef and onion baozi – both were simply spectacular. The service is outstanding, the atmosphere is cozy, and the open kitchen makes the experience even better. If you prefer, you can sit at the bar and watch the chefs prepare each dish right in front of you. ********* Jia – The Taste of Home is a real highlight in Dortmund 🍜🥟. The food is pure umami enjoyment! The noodles are freshly prepared and there are many variations – from warming soups to peanut sauce noodles (which I tried and highly recommend). We ordered three dishes, two of which were main courses with very few vegetables, which meant they weren't seasoned in a variety of ways. The portions were large, but if you want a healthy and balanced diet, this isn't the best choice. The main course selection is limited, and all main courses have very few vegetables. And when vegetables are offered as a side dish with the main courses, they are very sparse. The server was very friendly, but he didn't come over to us, so we had to come over to him to order. It's very convenient that the menu is online, which saves on paper. Another positive is that there's a very large vegan selection.

The food is excellent. Everything is fresh and handmade. It's a wonderful craft that's still practiced here. The atmosphere is a bit cramped, but it fits the neighborhood—you just have to like it. I'd love to come back.

Price-performance ratio rather poor. - Tasted only okay. - The portions of the pasta dishes were much too small for the prices. (Yes, you can reorder pasta, but without sauce, it just doesn't taste good. It's better to offer appropriate portions right away.) - Poor service. - Difficult parking situation. The ambiance definitely doesn't look like a restaurant, more like a snack bar or bar. By the way, they didn't even ask us whether we enjoyed the food. The way the owner treats customers is unacceptable. Constantly harassing customers by asking them to delete bad reviews is simply not customer-friendly. Instead, they should work on improving the reviews.

I ate at JIA for the first time by chance, and it certainly won't be the last. Today I had steamed baozi and pan-fried dumplings, kimchi, and delicious noodles with peanut sauce. All homemade and wonderfully aromatic. The beautiful dishes enhanced the dishes even further. I'm already looking forward to my next visit.

We've been going there quite often now and are always very happy after each visit. I can only recommend it; the food is delicious, the service is very friendly, and the open kitchen creates a cool atmosphere.

Crisp, fresh, perfect to awaken the palate. 😋 Then came the official starter: dumplings – one with spicy beef, one with aromatic vegetables. Juicy filled, hand-formed, simply delicious – we had the fried version, a dream!!!! 😋😋 The highlight: homemade noodles, freshly pulled in the kitchen, served with a special, savory sauce and tender chicken. You can taste every single minute of craftsmanship and passion – bite, flavor, aroma: everything on point. 🙌 And right in the middle of it all: Alex, the owner – an incredibly personable host who puts his heart and soul into his work and makes every meal a personal experience. 🔥 In short: We don't just cook here – we create here! The food is so good that I go there again and again, take many friends there, and my friends have been there again and again. There's a large beer selection and very tasty non-alcoholic drinks. You should definitely reserve a table, because the restaurant is usually full to capacity.

First time there, the noodles with peanut sauce and chicken were amazing. Then I shared a portion of dumplings, which was also amazing. I was also pleased with the drinks management. Customers can go to the fridge and help themselves to something, which is ideal if you always order a Coke but notice that there's also a Schwipp Schwapp in there. They explained to us how to consume the food and what we can do to experience the taste and authenticity. It actually deserves a 5.0 rating, not a 4.9 out of 860 reviews.

It's such a shame they no longer serve hand-pulled noodles. It was an absolute culinary, visual, and atmospheric treat, and a unique selling point for the Ruhr region (at least for the part I know!). But the dumplings are also incredibly good, and they make up for it!

I was very impressed. The location takes a bit of getting used to, but it's easily accessible. People, give it a try. You don't find it that often.

It was probably a homemade dumpling, and it tasted okay — but not as fantastic as I had read in the reviews. Maybe my expectations were too high. It's definitely better than most places that serve frozen dumplings, though. The server wasn’t very helpful; he walked away before I could even finish my sentence. Just a few weeks ago, I would have given it 5 stars, or even more if possible. The hand-pulled noodles and dumplings were an absolute culinary highlight. Recently, there's new kitchen staff, and the food has deteriorated considerably. Hard pieces in the jiaozi (perhaps raw carrot pieces?) and the hand-pulled noodles are no longer available. Instead, there are homemade tagliatelle noodles from a pasta machine that any Italian could make just as well. In the past, we've always left the shop happy and satisfied. Unfortunately, we were very disappointed recently.

We used to come here regularly—every two weeks—mainly for the super delicious hand-pulled noodles. Unfortunately, they're no longer available, and the current noodles simply don't taste as good as the old ones. We politely informed the owner, but unfortunately, his response was rather evasive and not particularly friendly. Fortunately, the dumplings are still as good as ever. But overall, we'll probably come much less often in the future. It's a shame, because we really enjoyed this place for a long time.

I went there for the first time on Wednesday. My girlfriend goes there regularly and said it's worth it. I can only confirm that. You should make a reservation in advance. The food is really delicious; I had the noodles with peanut sauce and chicken. The chef personally came over and gave me the tip to mix everything well. The service is very good and attentive. Of course, they had the cucumbers and dumplings. Everything was fresh and very tasty. The drink selection is also very good. I'll definitely be back 🙂

The dumplings are really first class and my absolute favorite dish, I have never found such a delicious vegan alternative anywhere! We are always happy to accept the short journey just for this reason. But the ambience, the great employees and the live production of the noodles are a highlight in themselves! The way the entire team works is also impressive. Everyone has their job, every move is perfect, and everything is structured and organized. But despite the professionalism, it doesn't seem hectic - on the contrary: you can see that the employees enjoy their work. This enthusiasm is transferred directly to the guests and, above all, to the food. An absolute highlight at Jia is the in-house noodle production. Here the pasta is actually made entirely by hand - without machines! The chef knows his craft like no other: with impressive precision and technique, he shapes the noodles by hand, pulling and turning them until they reach their perfect consistency. This is true culinary art that you rarely find anymore! And then the dumplings – without a doubt the best in Dortmund and probably in the entire district! Vegan noodles (Zhajiang noodles) also good. Would come again. The price isn't that low, but you can afford it every now and then :-)

We were in the small restaurant for the first time. There are a few tables and seats at the counter - as already described here, we were not introduced to the concept. We had to get the menu on our cell phone using a QR code, which wasn't nice for us as everything was quite small and confusing. After we ordered, the food was prepared, which you can see at the counter. The dumplings were frozen and the noodles were freshly pulled. Unfortunately, the noodles had different diameters (handmade), which meant that some were soft and some were "hard" on the plate. Apart from that, we liked the dishes we ordered.

By chance I found the top rated restaurants on Google, went straight there and asked to go to the bar. You were pointed out the QR code and left sitting there without any communication. Confused by the small menu, helplessly asked if you could get rice or noodles with the duck, it was pointed out that they didn't have anything like "fried rice" in a demeaning gesture. Went out again straight away. I can't say anything about the food.

I ended up in the JIA purely by chance, shortly before 5 p.m. I and others were standing outside the door. I didn't have a reservation, but it's better to get one there. But lucky. The nice person offered me a seat at the counter and I was allowed to order. I had one of the best noodle soups I've ever eaten. The noodles are freshly prepared in front of you, the dough is rolled and kneaded and shaped into many different shapes that you can choose yourself. Unfortunately, I was so warm because I had just been under the tanning bed and so I had to pull my cap further over my face with each delicious spoonful. This made me very uncomfortable with the staff because I couldn't express my full enthusiasm. In any case, I thought it was a shame on my part. I can highly recommend this delicious restaurant. Thank you for the great dish, next time I'll take more time.

We were particularly impressed by the dumplings and noodles. The sauce for the duck was great. The duck itself could have been a little crispier for our taste, but was well seasoned. Overall, we were impressed by the food, the atmosphere and the friendliness of the staff and will definitely come back.

Ich war mit Freunden in diesem Lokal und wurden zunächst nett empfangen. Das Ambiente ist angenehm und man fühlte sich gut aufgehoben. Das Hauptproblem liegt aber an den Portionen der Gerichte und die Gyoza waren mehr als unterdurchschnittlich. Wir waren bei den Preisen sehr verwundert, dass wir bei den Hauptgerichten von 15€ gefühlt das Volumen einer Vorspeise bekommen haben. Es ist schade, dass man darüber den Gewinn vergrößern will, obwohl Udon Nudeln jetzt nicht die Welt kosten. Die Gerichte waren lecker, aber ich bezahle keine 15€ mehr für abzählbare Nudeln.

Waren zum ersten und leider zum letzten Mal dort. Dumplings/Baozi hatten nicht so viel Füllung wir in anderen Restaurants. Die Nudelsuppe bzw. die Nudeln schmeckten u.E. wie Teigschnüre in Maggi-Suppe, haben auch da schon deutlich bessere gegessen. Alles in allem leider nicht zufriedenstellend. Ansonsten: Location ist vom Stadtkern gut erreichbar, Einrichtung auch in Ordnung.

Were at the JIA for the first time and were asked immediately upon entry whether we could help. After we chose the spot, we were briefed on the JIA rules. Drinks are available in various refrigerators where you can help yourself, the menu is available via QR code. Above the open kitchen you can see various dishes on two screens and you get an overview of what they look like. All dishes are made fresh and can be seen by the guest; for the duck, the waiting time of 20 minutes was also pointed out directly. All in all a great concept with top quality drinks and food, we'll be happy to come back.

Mega, mega, mega! We were here with my old man (four of us) who was skeptical at first because he always associates a Chinese restaurant with a buffet. But the personal atmosphere, watching noodles being made and the incredible quality of the noodles changed my father's mind! The various dumplings were really great, the soup with chili oil takes your shoes off (in a good way). The beers are very well selected, really good and go excellently with the pasta. My wife had the duck, very very tasty! My peanut noodles with chicken were amazing, completely different taste worlds. All in all, an absolute asset to the gastronomy scene in Dortmund. This Chinese restaurant stands out pleasantly from the other "ordinary" buffet restaurants in Dortmund. It now explains why it is so difficult to get a table here. You definitely have to book a table here in advance!

The JIA in the Kaiserstraße district is a small Chinese restaurant that specializes in dumplings. We tried different dumplings, fried and steamed. The dumplings tasted good, but not a revelation. We expected more here. The service is very nice. The seating, mainly high chairs, is not that comfortable.
