A true gem on Lake Baldeney! We spend every wedding anniversary and special occasion at the Jagdhaus Schellenberg. The Jagdhaus impresses not only with its stunning location, but above all with its high-quality food, prepared to perfection. The service is attentive, warm, and professional – you feel completely at home. What was especially nice was that our dog was also welcome and lovingly cared for. The water was right at our table. That's not something you can take for granted, and we were very pleased! A place where quality, ambiance, and hospitality come together.

Since my youth, the Jagdhaus Schellenberg has been a guarantee of good food, delicious beer in the beer garden and good times. The view over Lake Baldeney is gigantic and the beer garden invites you to linger!

The beer garden is brilliant as is the view of the valley. Unfortunately only open from April.

The Jagdhaus Schellenberg restaurant is a real treat for all the senses! I've been here several times and can't wait to come back. The fine cuisine offers an exquisite selection of dishes that impress both in terms of taste and appearance. A special highlight is the breathtaking view of Lake Baldeney, which makes the meal an unforgettable experience. The atmosphere in the restaurant is pleasant and inviting, which makes the visit even more enjoyable. The friendly staff also contributes to the positive experience and ensures that you feel completely comfortable. All in all, there's really nothing to complain about. Good food, a nice atmosphere, a wonderful view and friendly staff – what more could you want? I can only warmly recommend the Jagdhaus Schellenberg and am already looking forward to my next visit!

We were able to celebrate our wedding at the Jagdhaus Schellenberg almost two years ago. We were completely satisfied with the best service, great food and incredibly good organization by Vivian Janke. We noticed the location again and again long before the wedding. Whether we have a drink on the terrace or a whole evening in the restaurant it's worth it every time. Friends and family are always thrilled. The next reservation is already out. Always recommended.

Wir waren zum Weihnachtsmenü bzw. -essen dort und sowohl das Menü als auch der Service waren super und wir hatten einen super schönen Abend

Service/atmosphere top - food poor (5/10) In advance. We go to starred restaurants and more upscale restaurants several times a year. Appetizer: The crispy salmon was fried salmon on avocado. Unfortunately, you have to say it like that, at Café Extrablatt level. Intermediate course: The pumpkin soup didn't taste like pumpkin, it was just plain and "hard on salt" (actually oversalted). Everything was missing. No spices (e.g. curry) or aromatics (ginger, chili). No apple or carrot. No acid. Main course: The medium cooked steak did not taste like beef and was rather firm in texture. It wasn't even irritated. Parsnip puree too sweet and too thick. Sauce decent, but not a highlight. Dessert: Crème brûlée not sweet enough and not enough vanilla. The consistency is just too firm. Lemon sorbet is decent, although it could also be a convenience product. Chocolate mousse was good. Unfortunately there was no espresso either. Overall, one has to say that the kitchen's performance is simply too weak. Action must be taken here. The service was very attentive and friendly. Better go to the following restaurants: Parking garage Hügel, Annelise, Bliss, Pauls Brassrie, even the Pierburg in Kettwig.

Wir haben als Paar den Abend insgesamt und das Essen im Besonderen sehr genossen bei einem ruhigen stilvollen Ambiente und einem sehr zuvorkommendem Service. Von uns aus auch einen Dank und Gruß an die Küche für ihre herausragende Leistung. Wenn man dies zu schätzen weiß, erscheint auch der Preis hierfür angemessen.

Top location, great service, fantastic food Everything fine

Wir lieben es dort im Winter wie im Sommer. Sehr freundliche Bedienung. Grosse Wein-Auswahl und gutes Essen. Das einzige was mich ein wenig gestört hat ist die, ich nenne es mal "cross over Küche - Deutschland - Asien) . Ich finde das steht dem Lokal nicht. Ein wenig war die Auswahl dadurch auch nicht einfach. Gut wir hatten Ganz, die war gut. Aber ansonsten, ich meine die Karte war schon mal besser . Alles in allem : Gerne wieder

We would like to share our outstanding experience at Jagdhaus Schellenberg. We celebrated our perfect dream wedding there in September 2024 and are completely thrilled, not only us but also all of our guests. The restaurant offers an impressive combination of excellent location, excellent food, first-class service and a welcoming ambience. Location: The location of the hunting lodge is simply fantastic. Surrounded by greenery and with a wonderful view of Lake Baldeney, the restaurant immediately creates an atmosphere as if you were on vacation. Food: The culinary creations at the Jagdhaus Schellenberg are simply fantastic. From the starter to the dessert, every dish was a masterpiece - fresh, tasteful and prepared with great attention to detail. We decided on the menu option and we were completely impressed with everything there too, whether it was gluten-free bread or tomato intolerance, everything was taken care of meticulously! Service: The service at the Schellenberg hunting lodge was extremely remarkable. The entire team with and behind Sebastian is fabulous, on point and on point. Quality of the drinks at a very high level. Many guests were even addressed by name, which pleasantly surprised many! I would particularly like to highlight the professionalism and quick response of the team when we unexpectedly experienced a circulatory collapse. The employees were extremely considerate, understanding and helpful. Their efforts made our situation much easier and showed a high level of humanity and professionalism. The ambience in the Schellenberg hunting lodge is extremely pleasant and creates a welcoming atmosphere. Particularly noteworthy is the rear area with the half-timbered structure, which offers a unique backdrop and a fantastic view of Lake Baldeney. The bar area is perfectly designed: everything is thoughtfully divided so that the bar, dance floor and enough space for comfortable seating and a photo box are combined in one place. Added to this is the impressive outdoor area, which gave us a lot of joy not only during the outdoor wedding ceremony, but also later when we enjoyed a mild summer night with a pleasant 21 degrees. In summary, the Jagdhaus Schellenberg is an excellent restaurant that impresses with its excellent location, excellent food, exceptional service and pleasant ambience. Even in a challenging situation like ours, the team showed that they not only offer first-class gastronomy, but also human warmth and support. We will definitely come back and not just for the anniversary and highly recommend the restaurant!

Zusätzlich zu dem hervorragenden Essen war der Service in jeder Hinsicht herausragend! Mehr als zuvorkommend, unaufdringlich und auch unterstützend (meine Mutter benötigt einen Rollator). Wir waren schon in vielen Restaurants, aber einen solchen Service hatten wir noch nie. Ausdrücklich vielen Dank dafür! Wir kommen gerne schnellstmöglich wieder.

The risotto with shrimp was amazing

Immer wieder ein ganz besonderes Erlebnis, rundum stimmig. Wir haben zweieinhalb Stunden gegessen und jeder Gang war ein Genuss.

No cocoa, no coffee with milk - a kind of cake shortly before 3 p.m.! You have to be able to do that. Best weather on the weekend. Beautiful clouds. Beautiful view. Nice sun. Thanks. Been a regular since Pumpenhannes - 1983...

Self-service and prices make it clear that you're paying for the view. So far so good. However, if you still have nothing to eat after 40 minutes of normal occupancy in the afternoon, that's stupid. It's even more stupid when you realize that guests who ordered after you are already eating. It becomes rude when you ask and the chef claims that you have the wrong number (and that it's the people at the checkout who are to blame) and that the food was already ready long ago. The highlight is when the cook grumbles that it's not his fault and rummages through the paperwork with the cashier to look for the error instead of correcting his own error as quickly as possible. As a customer, I don't care who is to blame. Service means that it is taken care of. Excuse me? No, they weren't available when we asked - they didn't get around to it. Apparently some people are still doing well despite the corona-related closure!

Sensational location with great views over the lake & hills! However, we were only on the self-service terrace, so we can only rate cake and currywurst, the cake was mediocre. This could be much better... The terrace had very good seating and a unique view. Amazing!!

Beautiful view & dinner at a high level. Overall, a super chic restaurant. A place-to-be for that special occasion. The prices are correspondingly premium. When eating, the meat in particular was on point. For me, however, the “fireworks” was missing from the table. You definitely pay for the great view here ;) Otherwise service was super friendly and professional. It's best to reserve in advance.

Dass das Jagdhaus Schellenberg in Essen kulinarisch eine "Nummer" ist, ist bekannt. Wir wollten aber mal "normal" und haben die Außen-Gastronomie besucht und das war eine gute Entscheidung bei entsprechendem Wetter. Ein unwahrscheinlich schöner Blick auf den Baldeney-See mit Sonnen-Untergang kleinen Snacks und guten Getränken in schöner zur Entspannung einladender Umgebung. Die Preise sind "ok".

Were in the beer garden. View fantastic. Prices for a glass of wine and drinks are actually too high. Quite full and unfortunately it smelled a lot like old frying oil. I wouldn't expect it given the prices.

Sehr empfehlenswert, wir kommen wieder!

Great value for money 𝗻𝗯𝗲𝗿𝗴 The Jagdhaus Schellenberg in Essen is a real insider tip for anyone looking for the perfect place for a relaxing afternoon. During our visit we were treated to bright sunshine and an impressive view of Lake Baldeney. The terrace of the hunting lodge provided us with a picturesque backdrop that made our experience even more unforgettable. We enjoyed real Ruhr area emotions and we enjoyed sitting on the terrace with an excellent coffee while sharing a delicious pretzel. The combination of excellent service, the relaxed atmosphere and the breathtaking views made our visit a highlight. It was the perfect place to escape the stress of everyday life and just enjoy the moment. The Schellenberg hunting lodge is definitely worth a visit and we are already looking forward to our next visit. A clear recommendation for everyone who appreciates good cuisine, excellent service and a fantastic view.

The view from the veranda is amazing. Need to book in advance. Complimentary bread and butter - very tasty. The choice of food is very small and very much for everyone - for such a price you expect very tasty food, but this did not happen. I recommend this place for light snacks and alcohol, to sit quietly, drink and enjoy the view, after eating at home :)

The view is incredibly beautiful. So far I've only been to the beer garden and Deep Schell. The atmosphere was great!

Location? Top! Küchenbrigade? Außergewöhnlich! Qualität? Wunderbar! Weinauswahl? Perfekt. Service? Echte Gastgeber! Empathisch zugewandt und doch professionell, aufmerksam und es freundlich zu nennen, wäre wirklich eine Untertreibung.. Vielen Dank und ganz sicher auf bald, ich freue mich schon.

Great view, great ambience, delicious food, but also quite expensive!

This may seem like a fancy place to visit, but if there are any celebrations there, no matter what, you can hear the music terribly loud until sometimes 3:00 a.m. in the morning. NO GO If the wind is still unfavorable it is even louder, completely disturbing the peace. Added to this is the screaming of people. Absolutely disgusting. I'm just wondering if the operators have special permission from the city to be so loud until late at night. I don't want to live there or in the surrounding area. I feel very sorry for the residents who have to experience this quite often.

We were only in the beer garden but it was in a really nice atmosphere with a fantastic view.

My statements refer to the beer garden. We love coming to the beer garden and enjoying the great view with a delicious drink. Today we ate something for a long time. Salad with shepherd's cheese and tarte flambée. The salad cost €10.50 and was more like a cheap pizzeria side salad. The bread that came with it was dry and tasted old and inedible. The tarte flambée didn't really taste good either and looked rather bland. Overall the food was a big disappointment!!! Price performance is not right at all. So for us it's definitely not a recommendable place to eat, but rather a place to enjoy the view in a nice atmosphere with a delicious drink.

Amazing view, very nicely located, there was live music and a super relaxed atmosphere. However, the food is mediocre compared to the ambience and the prices. The salad was already finished and not fresh as one might have expected. The fries and currywurst were ok. The aioli was way too mayonnaise-heavy. The drinks were good. Gin and tonic 10€ which is ok.

We were there as part of a closed party and EVERYTHING was right! The weather was perfect for eating outside, the staff was great (friendly and authentic) and the food was absolutely delicious.

Nice view but was close on Monday

Absolutely incompetent and unfriendly staff. You drive there specifically to pick up a voucher and are sent away again and referred to the next day because vouchers cannot be issued during ongoing operations. The next day, however, you should come again while operations are ongoing because it's not possible before then?!?! Absolutely ridiculous and customer unfriendly. I don't understand this kind of thing. I'd rather buy my voucher in a restaurant that doesn't treat its customers in such a condescending manner. You can't recommend a restaurant like this in good conscience.

A table was reserved and assigned to us, the food was very good...

Here's a suggestion for the restaurant: don't offer a 6 course menu with less than 90 minutes before your kitchen absolutely closes. As a matter of fact, a reasonable guideline for you menu would be if you kitchen closes precisely at 9pm: - only 4 or 5 courses after 7:30pm - only 4 courses after 7:45pm - only a la carte after 8pm I was recently visiting NRW from New York and went to the restaurant on recommendation from a friend to have an early celebration for my birthday. I was accompanied by said friend as well. We sat down by 7:30pm and were told "it would be a fast 6 courses if you chose that". I take responsibility for making a decision while hungry. Once orders were placed, the first course did not even arrive till about 8pm. And after that it was, indeed, course after course of not small, not light courses in quick succession. It felt like being rushed and force fed. On this I blame the restaurant for allowing this to even happen. In no way is that a nice experience. Indeed once 9pm came, the kitchen was well and truly closed. In other restaurants I've been to this is rather flexible when you have guests in the space. This experience, however, just feels poorly executed and plainly rigid and greedy. Of course I still paid for 6 courses I did not enjoy the experience of. Do you really want guests to leave with this bad of an experience when it is rather simple to guide us to something better? It's a shame because the setting is beautiful; primed for a great experience. On the contrary, it was some of the worst I've ever had! Contrast this with another 6 course meal I had at a restaurant in Frankfurt the night before I left Germany. The whole experience took nearly 4 hours and was very comfortable and leisurely. Highly enjoyable! 4 hours is perhaps not necessary, but coursing out 6 plates should take a while and the experience should be more pleasant. The experience at Jagdhaus Schellenberg was far from pleasant.

Exzellenter Service. Unserem Sohn ging es nicht so gut und es wurde wahnsinnig viel Rücksicht genommen. Das Essen, die Weinauswahl und die Aussicht sind natürlich ebenfalls ein Traum!!!

The two of us were there in the beer garden on a Saturday afternoon. There wasn't that much going on yet, so we quickly got our fancy drink and a coffee at the self-service area and were able to have a nice chat. The coffee was cheap. We had a nice seat with a view of Lake Baldeney. Very beautiful and very relaxing. We were very grateful for the umbrellas as it was a very sunny day. In conclusion I can say: Gladly again!

Siamo stato lì il 05/06/2024 x festeggiare un compleanno. Un’esperienza fantastica. L’ambiente curata, la vista sul fiume Ruhr e Baldeneysee stupenda. Il servizio perfetto, il personale addestrato, sempre attento, mai invadente, aperto a domande, risposte, anche battute. Poi il menù. La scelta delle portate, il crescendo degli sapori, la presentazione, semplicemente perfetto. Il prezzo adeguato, e giusto. Da tornare al più presto, per godere in estate il Biergarten!
