Indian gourmet journey in Giessen: A culinary experience that enchants all the senses I recently had the pleasure of visiting an Indian restaurant in Giessen that exceeded my expectations in every way. From the moment I entered the restaurant it was clear that this was going to be a dining experience with a difference. Ambiance and Atmosphere: The restaurant exudes a warm and inviting atmosphere that immediately conveys a feeling of security. The furnishings are stylish and authentically Indian without seeming over-the-top. Subtle lighting and traditional Indian music in the background create a relaxed yet upscale atmosphere. The harmonious color scheme with warm earth tones and golden accents that underline the elegance of the place was particularly impressive. Service: The service was exceptional. The staff was not only friendly, but also extremely attentive without being intrusive. Every wish was fulfilled promptly and the waiters took the time to explain the dishes to us in detail and make recommendations. Particularly noteworthy is the patience and friendliness of the staff when advising on the level of spiciness of the food - important information for guests who are not used to spicy food. Culinary experience: The menu offers an impressive variety of dishes from different regions of India. Everything from classic tandoori dishes to South Indian specialties was represented. The flavors were intense and perfectly balanced - every dish was a real firework for the palate. Particularly noteworthy were the Butter Chicken, which was tender and creamy at the same time, as well as the Paneer Tikka, whose smoky note from the tandoor oven was incomparable. The vegetarian options were also varied and of the highest quality. The Dal Makhani, a lentil dish with a velvety texture, was one of the best I've ever tried. The side dishes such as freshly baked naan bread and aromatic basmati rice rounded off the menu perfectly. Special features: What makes this restaurant truly unique is the attention to detail in every aspect of the experience. The spices were fresh and perfectly measured - not too strong, but still intense enough to bring the authentic taste of India to the plate. Even small details such as homemade chutneys and fresh herbs gave the dishes a special touch. Another highlight was the dessert menu: the gulab jamun, small fried dough balls in sugar syrup, was heavenly – sweet but not overwhelming. We were served a mango lassi that was refreshing and creamy at the same time. Conclusion: This Indian restaurant not only offers great food but also an all-round great experience. From the ambience to the service to the quality of the food, everything was just right. It's rare to visit a restaurant and feel like you've experienced something truly unique - but that was exactly the case here. I can recommend this restaurant to anyone who is looking for authentic Indian cuisine in Giessen and wants to spend an evening in a stylish ambience. A visit here is more than just a meal - it's a journey through the taste worlds of India!

Very nice atmosphere, service also very friendly. Food took a bit of time but everything was still okay, there was a bit of action going on. Overall top and we will definitely be back.

Conclusion: A lot of money for little food, a long waiting time and an unfriendly boss who cannot accept feedback. I wouldn't recommend. I was really disappointed with my visit to this restaurant. For 19 euros I got a tiny portion of just five or six pieces of chicken, swimming in way too much sauce. There was also a cola glass that was half filled with ice. The portions and the value for money are simply not appropriate. We had to wait about 50 minutes for our food - far too long for such a small portion! At the end, when the boss asked us our opinion, one person in our group answered honestly. Instead of accepting the feedback, the boss immediately became rude and said that he had been working there for ten years and would not accept such criticism. Why does he even ask if he doesn't want to hear criticism?

The authenticity of Indian food is retained, and they are delicious. The staff is attentive and friendly to everyone.

If you want to enjoy delicious food and have a good time together as a group, this is the wrong choice. Unfriendly service, paying around 20 euros for less than 100 g of chicken.

We went there to eat dinner, we were a group of 6 people. I was really excited to try Indian food in giessen but unfortunately I was really disappointed and I wouldn’t repeat it. The food was very average and it’s really unpleasant to wait for 40 mins to eventually eat average food. I ordered butter chicken curry, the curry bowl had like 5-6 mini chicken cubes that barely made half of a chicken breast. 17€ is definitely a lot of mini chicken cubes in a small bowl of curry. I ended up eating rice for the most part. Besides the food, a waiter or the owner came to ask about our opinion as all restaurants usually do, a friend from our group shared his honest opinion about the rice and the instant reply from the man who asked was literally “I can’t accept your opinion, I work as a chef for 20 years” with no smile whatsoever. If restaurants owners want only guests that only give positive feedback to such questions then maybe they should only serve their family members or friends and stop opening restaurants for the public.

Bad experience for the price. I do not advise anyone to go. The food is a small quantity compared to the price. The behavior of the restaurant owners is very bad and unethical, especially with foreigners, not Germans. I do not advise anyone to go at all, even if Hank has positive comments, as the restaurant only interacts with positive comments.

Our visit to this restaurant was not only disappointing but really made us angry. We came as a large group hoping for a nice evening - and left with frustration and anger. 1. Portion sizes: The main course was a complete disappointment. The portion of chicken consisted of perhaps 120 grams of meat “swimming” in a large amount of sauce. What was sold to us as a main course was little more than half a chicken breast. For the price we paid it was simply outrageous. 2. Side dish arrangement: Each of us ordered a side dish (rice or naan bread) as specified on the menu. But those who chose rice then had to share a small bowl of rice between several people! When we asked why that was the case, the waiter explained that we had to “eat everything” before we could get seconds. That really upset us. We ordered the food individually and expected that everyone would get their own. Instead, we were told to share first and to ask later if anything else was needed. This is disrespectful to the guests and was conveyed to us in a very condescending manner. 3. Waiting time: We were told that the food would be served in 15 minutes. In truth we had to wait almost 40 minutes with no apology or explanation. For a large group that had reserved in advance, this is simply unacceptable. 4. Disrespect of the owner and rudeness of the staff: The man who was presumably the owner asked us for our opinion. When we began to honestly describe our impressions to him, he didn't even let us finish and immediately felt attacked when we criticized the quality of the rice. He interrupted us and said he wouldn't accept any "insults" about his food. This response was completely unprofessional - why ask for feedback if you're not ready to hear it? We were looking forward to a nice evening based on the good reviews, but it was one of the worst restaurant experiences we've ever had. No one should be treated as disrespected as we were treated here. Anyone thinking about eating here should know that the service, especially the owner, is extremely rude and the staff shows no interest in treating guests with respect. We definitely won't be coming back and can only advise against it.

The meals at this restaurant has become an almost weekly thing! The atmosphere is cozy yet lively, with warm lighting and comfortable seating. Every dish is bursting with Indian flavors, with spice levels which you can inform the staff and they will prepare accordingly. The staff is attentive and friendly, making us feel right at home. Definitely a must-visit spot!

TERRIBLE! DON'T GO AND EAT HERE! Last night I went for a dinner in the India Restaurant. And let me start with the positive point; the people and owner are very kind, nice and helpful. The negative points; food is less than average as well as the portions. The atmosphere is really, really old and dusty. A renovation of the interior should have been done 20 years ago, but the most terrible thing is; we came in at 6.30 PM and at 8 PM we still didn't had any food so people started complaining. Owner started explaining that a family member of someone in the kitchen died that day, and so they were understaffed. But, although that could be the case, cooking some jasmin Rice doesn't take more than 10 minutes, and a Tikki Massala is definitely not freshly made. So either way, the kitchen is probably very badly organized, or there is another reason. And I believe it's related to the limited metal heating plates they put on the tables to 'warm' the bowls of food. I noticed that each time tables were getting served after a metal plate was available, and not sooner. If that is the case, it is ridicules! I have the feeling that they want to keep following that old traditional table setting, even if it takes 90 (!!) minutes to serve a very simple meal that I make at home freshly in 25 minutes. And, mine even taste much better so spare your money and have a dinner somewhere else because this is not worth it! COMMENT/REPLY TO REACTION OWNER: The Owner is apparently not open for any criticism, doesn't see the reality and also is extremely rude, just as I already had read in other comments and negative reviews. See attached the picture that I made of the bill from that evening, just so you know we were actually there and to debunk the comment from the owner. Looking at this review, this makes the whole experience even worse and I would definitely not recommend anyone to go and eat there, because it's terrible!

I really liked the atmosphere, it seemed super cozy and warm and the staff was also courteous. While eating, we ordered the Palak Paneer and the Chicken Tikka Masala. We felt it could have been a little saltier. But the mango lassi was very good.

I had high expectations for this Indian restaurant but was very disappointed. Unfortunately, the taste of the dishes was anything but convincing. All dishes had an intense milk taste, which was very unpleasant for me personally as I don't like milk at all. The garlic bread was also disappointing - it tasted like regular bread and the garlic flavor was not present at all. What was particularly disappointing was that for €18 I ordered a lamb dish that hardly contained any meat - just two small pieces. The price-performance ratio was absolutely not justified. Overall, it was one of the most disappointing restaurant visits I've ever had. Unfortunately not a recommendation for me.

Butter Chicken is mentally ill.

Consistently good quality for 15 years. The level of spiciness is classified as North Indian (South Indian, on the other hand, is super-very hot) The staff is TOP and the boss himself is still there. We'd love to come back. The food is thoroughly recommended. Price-performance is right.

The two of us dined here on a Saturday evening. We came without a reservation and had free choice of seating. The atmosphere was very nice and we immediately felt at home. Relaxed music and a subtle, very pleasant scent of incense sticks underlined the beautiful atmosphere. Candles and a fresh selection of incredibly delicious sauces were prepared at the table. The service was super attentive and friendly throughout the evening and contributed to the excellent overall impression. The food was served quickly. A basket of naan bread was brought straight away, which was incredibly tasty in combination with the various sauces at the table. We had a mixed starter platter for 2 people, which could be put together as desired. Here too you can see how much passion is in every detail. Just wonderful. For the main course we had the butter chicken and a mixed platter of lamb and chicken. The food was served in beautiful bowls on a table grill that was placed in the middle of the table so that it was easy to share and taste the food together. Everything was really right here. We can only recommend it and look forward to the next culinary trip.

Unfortunately, an attempt is being made to have our negative review deleted, so here it is again: We waited at the table for about 45 minutes until we got a mango lassi, the food that followed came after a simple naan about 50 minutes after the mango lassi. We didn't find the taste of the food appealing, it tasted monotonous and not very spicy, the portions seemed very small and there seemed to be very little meat. We didn't think the prices were appropriate considering the quality and quantity. When we complained to the waiter that there was hardly any meat in the food, we were met with incomprehension; we had never heard such a complaint before. What is strange in this context is that at the table behind us we complained to the same waiter that we had not ordered a vegetarian dish but something containing meat. It's also a shame that our old review is being tried to be deleted on the grounds of defamation. Unfortunately we will no longer visit this restaurant for these reasons.

Wunderbar. Das Essen ist sehr sehr lecker. Auf der Speisekarte ist noch einiges, dass ich probieren möchte. Beim Ambiente nur 4 Sterne. Die Musik im Hintergrund erinnert eher an Fahrstuhl Musik. Aber wir waren ja wegen dem guten Essen da ;)

Seems to be a family business, staff is very friendly, but it took them 15 min to provide some salt. Why would I need salt anyway, you might wonder? The food, which took more than an hour to arrive (at least it was freshly prepared!) was incredibly bland. Not enough spices, not interesting, not genuinely Indian, not even enough salt, but adopted to the average German palate. I told the waiter that my food was lacking spices and refinement and he kindly offered to add something in the kitchen, but after having waited for so long for the food to arrive at all, I didn't want to part with it again. Rice was nice and fluffy, but no real saffron was used on top. It was artificial food colouring, also to be found in the minty yoghurt sauce, which was neon green... This restaurant can't be compared to the standards from Great Britain let alone India and offers a German version of Indian food, which I didn't enjoy at all. The atmosphere is nice and relaxed, a lot of students, normally priced dishes.

Ich war heute mit meiner Freundin essen, da wir des Öfteren indisch essen gehen. Das Personal ist extrem professionell, sehr aufmerksam, geht auf jeden Wunsch ein und lässt einen richtig wohl fühlen. Das Essen ist sehr gut gewesen. Portion war groß und besonders gut war das Butter Chicken. Preislich ist sie auch sehr im Rahmen. Ich kann das Restaurant nur weiter empfehlen und werde es nochmal besuchen wenn ich in Gießen bin.

Gutes Essen und freundliche Bedienung. Hatte das Butter Chicken mit Naan Brot bestellt. Um alles vernünftig essen zu können muss man mindestens ein Mal kostenpflichtig Brot nachbestellen, was das Essen im ganzen direkt teurer machet.

Ich war zusammen mit meiner Lebensgefährtin in Gießen und wollten spontan etwas indisch essen gehen. Das Ambiente ist sehr ansprechend und gemütlich. Die Mitarbeiter sind ebenso sehr freundlich und zuvorkommend! Die Speisen waren wunderbar! Der Reis ging leider zu schnell aus, und wir haben kostenfrei eine weitere Portion Reis bekommen. Hier kochen Inder im Familienbetrieb und mit viel Liebe seit vielen Jahren traditionelle Gerichte. Für mich begann hier als Teenager meine Freude am indischen Essen. Kürzlich habe ich das Essen für eine kleine Familienfeier bestellt und man hat uns problemlos viele leckere Speisen zubereitet, die auch die Allergiker unter uns genießen konnten. Die Einrichtung und Deko hat sich vermutlich in den letzten 40 Jahren kaum geändert, muss sie auch nicht unbedingt, sie wirkt klassisch. Wirklich sehr zu empfehlen!

An Indian experience with surprising food, but sloppy service. The menu, overall, is great: fresh, genuine, several dishes are authentic to specific Indian regions and not found in every European Indian restaurant. The service could definitely improve, it was a bit absent minded and rather slow given the number of visitors.

Sehr guter Service, leckeres Essen, freundliche Mitarbeiter. Es hat nur recht lange gedauert, bis das Essen kam, aber das Restaurant war auch voll, und viele größere Gruppen haben gleichzeitig bestellt.

Schöner Abend mit leckeren Essen. Die Mitarbeiter sind sehr nett und erklären die Zutaten der einzelnen Gerichte ausführlich. Auf Wunsch kann man die Schärfe anpassen. Das Essen kam schnell und heiß. Auf Wunsch kann man Reis nachbestellen. Es war sehr lecker. Die Toiletten sind sehr in die Jahre gekommen zudem sehr kalt.

es hat mich wieder mal in meine alte heimat verschlagen. da ist ein besuch im india ehrensache. der chef und seine jungs haben mich herzlich begrüsst. die küchenleistung nach wie vor gut. sehr schmackhafte speisen, eine gepflegte bierkultur gehört auch dazu. freue mich schon auf meinen nächsten besuch.

Ich gehe sehr gerne ins India, das Essen ist immer sehr gut. Der Service ist sehr freundlich und zuvorkommend. Die Dekoration ist leider aktuell aufgrund der "Kriese" deutlich reduziert, auch gibt es weniger Tische wie sonnst. Aber der Service und das Essen sind wie immer perfekt.

Ich gehe sehr gerne indisch Essen, daher kenn ich die alle indischen Restaurants in Gießen. Ich komme immer wieder gerne ins India. Das Essen ist lecker, jedoch nicht ganz so scharf wie in Indien (Aber das kann ein Deutscher auch nicht essen). Der Service ist immer herraus ragend, ich denke, der beste in Gießen. Empfehlen kann ich, Lamm Mango oder Chicken Korma. Beides Absolut lecker. Auch die Mangolassis sind Spitze, jedoch kann ich die inzwischen nach machen.

Een ruime kaart met veel keuze voor vegetariers. Bediening zeer correct maar het restaurant was wat sfeerloos. Corona regels werden goed gehanteerd en de prijs viel niet tegen.

Das Mittagessen war grausam. Es sollte eine indische Grillplatte sein. Es war das teuerste Gericht und sicherlich das schlechteste!! Lediglich die Samosas konnten als indisch durchgehen. Was sucht eine spanische Wurst auf einem indischen Teller? Lediglich das Hühnerfleisch war genießbar. das restliche Fleisch?? und die Knochen konnte man nicht essen. Die Knochen waren ein Lammkotelett ohne Fleisch und schwarz vom Grill! Einfach grausam.

Ein gemütliches Restaurant. Das Papadam und die Saucen dazu ist sehr lecker. Wir essen dort immer Paneer der von Konsistenz und Geschmack wunderbar ist. Dazu ist das Personal noch sehr freundlich. Wir fühlen uns sehr wohl und kommen immer gerne wieder.

Sehr leckere indische Küche, sehr freundliches Personal, tolle und gemütliche Atmosphäre. Kommen jedesmal extra angereist aus Frankfurt. Wir freuen uns schon aufs nächste Mal.

Ein gemütliches und angenehmes Restaurant mit sehr gutem Essen und tollen Getränken. Der Service war ordentlich! Wir können die Lassis und die alk-freien Longdrinks empfehlen. Papadam (knuspriges Fladenbrot, ging auf's Haus) und Soßen halfen die Wartezeit auf's Essen zu verkürzen. Wir hatten uns nach kleinen Vorspeisen aus Huhn und Käse für Lammgerichte als Hauptgericht enschieden, die in kleinen Kupferschalen auf einem Rechaud serviert wurden. Die Lamm-Auswahl auf immerhin 3 Seiten in der Speisenkarte fiel nicht leicht. Wir waren von der Art der Zubereitung ebenfalls begeistert! Kritisch anzumerken wären nur Kleinigkeiten, etwa daß die Longdrinkgläser etwas klebrig waren und daß die Bilder auf der eigenen Internetseite nicht mehr ganz das aktuelle Ambiente widergeben. Aktuell ist das Restaurant viel gemütlicher als im web dargestellt.

Keines der gewählten Hauptspeisen entsprach unseren Erwartungen. Zu salzig, zu süß, zu schwere Soße. Recht lieblose Zubereitung. Meine Familie und ich (5 Personen) können die guten Bewertungen hier nicht nachvollziehen. Es war enttäuschend.
