Interesting concept and delicious vegan dishes

As a family with two children, we ordered a few things from the kitchen. We were not treated kindly and very curtly by a somewhat thin woman of around sixty years old. We were immediately forced to make a choice. She had her eye on another customer, and was quite agitated to see that we were waiting longer (deep sigh on her part). Food was served quite lukewarm and when we sat down at the table it was cold! The gentlemen at the cash register are correct and excellent. All in all: eating here is more of a necessity than a pleasure. Prices are relatively good, relatively speaking. There is a bit of an unpleasant atmosphere. I completely understand that you can't expect much for a budget price, but I trust that you can be kind: tip to our German friends: Freundlichkeit kostent nichts extra!

I love eating there every time I visit Ikea. Above all, all main courses are currently 50% cheaper on Fridays, so it's more worth it. Most of the time it tastes okay, I just wish there was more variety in the menus.

Wir waren mit 6 Leuten da und wurden bestens bedient! Die Auswahl ist nicht zu üppig obwohl schon reichlich, dafür wird ständig frisch nachgelegt. Es gab wirklich nichts was auch nur ansatzweise Anlass uur Kritik gäbe. Derzeit war ein reduzierter Preis, aber auch für den regulären Preis ist es durchaus in Ordnung. Ich bin gerne bereit, bei entsprechender Qualität, etwas mehr zu zahlen. Wäre schön wenn so manch anderer dies auch so anbieten würde. In Summe 219€ incl Getränke für 6 Personen finde ich jetzt nicht übertrieben. Wir kommen gerne wieder. 👍🏻

Hochwertige Speisen und vor allem sehr gut schmeckende Saucen. Auch wenn es voll ist, geht es immer sehr schnell. Deas Servicepersonal ist sehr nett und nimmt sich die Zeit

So the food in the Ikea restaurant in Essen hasn't been great so far anyway... but the quality and organization that was offered at the Julbord 2023... was really below all cannon. Incredibly poor quality, a waiting time of around 60 minutes and a shortened buffet time of 30 minutes. Additionally, an overwhelmed manager who was unable (or unwilling) to change the situation. Skilled labor shortage across the board. The price has remained at €19 per person, but this year without duck leg, salmon, salmon lasagne and hot drinks. To do this, they went to the trouble of dismantling the sauce dispensers (ketchup, etc.)....oh man....🙈

Unfortunately I have to give one star to be able to write something! Christmas dinner wasn't worth this star this year!! Starting with the catastrophic organization, buffet from 6 p.m., everyone lines up, queue stretches far into the furniture exhibition, after an hour at 7 p.m. we had already made our way to the plates in the queue (buffet goes until 7:30 p.m.!!) When we then asked the food nager whether the buffet would at least stay open a little longer, since we still didn't have anything to eat and the buffet was only open until 7:30 p.m., he said: there were a lot of guests there, so it would be It would take a while and the buffet would close at 7:30 p.m.! We then told him that we would like to give our tickets back because going once and then slinging is not our thing. The answer we got was that it was just like that and the cards couldn't be exchanged, we wouldn't get the money back if we bought it either.😡 Then the only warm main courses were roast pork, which was either black or half fat, köttbullar in a sweet sauce, and an espresso spoon full of salmon on a potato slice three times the size. The coffee machine was switched off and the sauce dispensers were removed! No live music, no crafts. But the ticket costs 19 euros. The food nager was neither in control of the situation nor willing to deal with it. Or even just to begin to accommodate us. Lack of skilled workers or not, but something like that doesn't work at all! Shortly thereafter the evening was an expensive disaster 19 euros for a mulled wine and 1 dessert! And no insight, help or even any kind of regret from the manager. School grade 6- For us it was the last time we were there. (I paid almost 120 euros for 6 people and 3 of the 6 of us only drank the mulled wine) By the way, at least half a dozen guests before us left without eating and without getting their money back. This is how you do business Ikea!!

Tolles Restaurant mit frischen Zutaten und guten Preisen. Hier speist und trink man, so viel man mit möchte.

I am very disappointed that there is no more cocoa. This means that children can no longer drink anything warm, only cold milk. But it tasted really strange, really unpleasant.

Dass hier nicht wirklich gekocht wird und man Großküchen-Conveniance Food bekommt sollte jedem klar sein. Qualität ist ok, aber wirklich nix tolles. Katastrophe sind die Getränkespender - billigster Sirup wie im letzten All Inclusive Bunker. Ekelig. Die (TK-) Kuchen sind teilweise lecker. Preislich von günstig bis Naja.

Kann man gut essen gehen, Angebot ist gut, erstrecht für Vegetarier. Frühstück und mittag ist recht günstig, Tolle Mitarbeiter und schöne Atmosphäre

Das Essen war qualitativ ok - aber neben der Musik waren die Kochgeräusche laut und störend, die ständig wie Bienen im Restaurant umher laufenden mindestens 5 Bedienungen verbreiteten eine Unruhe die wunderbar zu der gesamten Lautstärke passte. Das war bestimmt kein schöner Restaurantbesuch und findet dort keine Wiederholung. Daneben war es auch zum angebotenen Essen recht teuer. Wir kommen leider nicht wieder.

Wie immer sehr lecker ... Gute Auswahl an Gemüse, Fleisch und Fisch ... es gab auch Zebra und Känguru - sehr nettes und aufmerksames Personal - empfehlenswert!

Wir kennen das Restaurant von früher. Uns fehlten außergewöhnliche Fleischvarianten wie z. B. Känguru oder Krokodil. Dafür gibt es nun mehr für Vegetarier /Veganer. Man kann nicht allem gerecht werden. Wir fanden es früher, als es exotischer war, besser. Ansonsten war es aber ein schöner Tag und alle sind satt geworden. Das Service Personal war jederzeit sehr aufmerksam.

Das funktioniert einfach nicht. Saubere Tabletts und Tassen sind erst nach dem 30 Minuten warten gekommen. Gar nicht zufrieden. Es gab nur wenig zu Essen.

Wir waren am 01.10.2022 im Mongo`s in Essen. Nachdem wir die Rechnung geordert hatten, sagte uns der Kellner, wir müssen 2,50 Euro pro Person mehr bezahlen, wegen den gestiegenen Energiekosten. Unverschämtheit, man hätte uns bei Betreten des Restaurants darauf aufmerksam machen müssen, was nicht geschehen ist, dann wären wir gar nicht rein gegangen. Außerdem hat meiner Meinung nach das Restaurant gegen die Preisangabenverordnung verstoßen, die vorschreibt, dass im Endpreis alle sonstigen Zuschläge bereits enthalten sein müssen. Wir waren regelmäßig einmal im Monat dort essen, das werden wir demnächst nicht mehr machen, so vergrault man sich die Kunden und das eigene Personal, das dadurch sicherlich einiges an Trinkgeld einbüsst.

Das Essen war der absolute Wahnsinn. Es war superlecker, die Bedienung war aufmerksam und freundlich und das Ambiente stimmt einfach. Lange nicht mehr so gut essen gewesen.

Keine Empfehlung während corona!!! Da ich meine impfstatus nicht als Barcode habe sondern nur in meinem impfausweis und man da nix scannen kann hat man mir den Zutritt verweigert obwohl ich 3 mal geimpft bin. Man hat mir empfohlen zu einer Apotheke zu gehen und die impfausweise zu einem Barcode zu ändern. Dieses ist nicht richtig. Impfausweis ist impfausweis!!!! Ich bin enttäuscht und werde dieses Restaurant auch nach corona nicht mehr betreten!!! Eine solche unfreundlichkeit habe ich noch nie erleben müssen. Dieses war das erste und letzte mal!!!

Dopo una lunga giornata di lavoro, decidiamo di coccolarci in questo ristorante dove una collega era stata qualche anno fa. Ìl locale è carino e non troppo grande, il cameriere che ci accoglie molto simpatico e cordiale. È possibile scegliere tra il menu a là carte e una sorta di all you can eat. Noi optiamo per la seconda scelta e ci viene data una lista con diverse tipologie di cottura e condimenti. Poi con un mini vassoio vai al self service dove riempi il tuo piatto con gli ingredienti che più gradisci (verdure, aromi, carne, pesce) e subito dopo qualcuno li cuoce per te in base alla scelta fatta prima. Devo dire che c’è una grande scelta di ingredienti e puoi davvero sbizzarrirti. Ho trovato il pesce buono ma la carne era dura (manzo e maiale nel mio caso). Il conto è stato un poco alto secondo me ma ci tornerei ancora.

Tolles Essen, gute Qualität der Speisen, Easy Konzept und leicht zu verstehen. Die Mitarbeiter sind alle sehr freundlich, herzlich und bestens über Allergene informiert. Pluspunkt, dass man über einen QR Code bestellen und bezahlen kann.

Am Anfang war es etwas Kompliziert das Konzept zu verstehen und zwischen den beiden Tarifen auszuwählen. Aber wenn man es einmal verstanden hat funktioniert es super und das essen schmeckt sehr gut. Ich kann auch die vegetarische Variante für 7€ weniger empfehlen, da der Großteil der Zutaten dort eh Vegetarisch ist.

Wir waren heute mit einer großen Familie hier essen und es hat uns sehr gut geschmeckt. Ja, das Lokal ist nicht das Größte aber dafür ist das Personal sehr aufmerksam und wirklich durchweg freundlich und wir fühlten uns wohl, was meines Erachtens sehr wichtig ist. Die Speisen wurde gut gekühlt gelagert und waren wirklich sehr frisch. Ich habe 4 verschiedene Marinaden und diverse Fleischsorten probiert und selbst bei den schärfsten Marinaden konnte ich die Fleischsorten so wie das "Gemüse" geschmacklich unterscheiden. Sehr gerne hätte ich alle Marinaden probiert, aber dafür war ich dann einfach zu satt. :-) Als sehr Positiv empfand ich den warmen Reis, der uns zudem auf den Tisch gestellt wurde. Ich werde garantiert wieder kommen und die volle Punktzahl, die ich vergebe, ist meines Erachtens wirklich verdient und gerechtfertigt.

Wir sind als bisher treue Mongo’s-Bochum-Gäste (welches leider inzwischen geschlossen ist) heute erstmalig in Essen gewesen und haben uns sehr wohl gefühlt! Es war alles perfekt von der ersten bis zur letzten Minute unseres Besuches. Nicht zuletzt lag es an Mira! Mit ihrem Engagement und Witz und den passenden Empfehlungen hat sie wesentlich zu diesem wunderbaren Abend beigetragen. Nicht unerwähnt lassen möchten wir aber auch ihre KollegInnen der Service-Teams sowohl vor und auch hinter den Theken, die einen tollen Service geliefert haben. Sowohl das Essen als auch die Getränke (unabhängig davon, ob sie per App (tolle Idee 👍🏻) oder persönlich bestellt wurden) waren trotz komplett besetzten Tischen sehr schnell da und das Essen war - wie gewohnt für Mongo‘s - sehr lecker. Wir waren bestimmt nicht das letzte Mal hier und können es absolut empfehlen!

Die warmen Mittag-Essen-Gerichte haben in der Qualität in den letzten Jahren deutlich nachgelassen. Kuchen, Salate und Nachspeisen sind dagegen völlig OK. Getränke sind auch angemessen; durch Corona ist leider das kostenlose Nachfüllen weggefallen, das ist ja aber verständlich. Warmes Mittagessen: Schnitzel waren wirklich trocken, die Panade krümelig statt knusprig. Der Lachs war wirklich trocken und lag offensichtlich schon länger in der Warmhalte-Auslage. Beim Besuch davor hatten wir z.B. Spinat-Gnocchi-Pfanne, die ebenfalls nicht schmeckte und auch optisch sehr "traurig" aussah. Unser Fazit: Wir werden keine warme Mahlzeit mehr bestellen, sondern das IKEA-Restaurant nur noch für einen kleinen Snack (Kuchen o.ä.) nutzen, wenn man eh gerade im Ikea am Einkaufen ist.

Gutes Hygiene Konzept. Name und Adresse eintragen. Dann bekommt man einen frisch desinfizieren Tisch mit Nummer. Das Essen selbst ist IKEA typisch "okay". Komme immer wieder gerne hin.

Schönes Restaurant, große Auswahl an Speisen und alles wirklich sehr lecker. Immer sehr gut voll daher unbedingt vorher ein Tisch reservieren.

Aktuell als Hygienekonzept: Tischzuweisung, Adresse hinterlassen, Handdesinfektion am Eingang, Abstand zwischen den Tischen, alles gut und schön. Aaaaber: Offene Besteckkästen, in die jeder Kunde unkontrolliert "reingrabbeln" kann. Da hilft auch die Desinfektion am Eingang nicht, wenn zwischendurch die Hand mal im Gesicht war...oder reingenießt wurde, wer weiß. Das hab ich in anderen Kantinen schon besser gesehen. Zudem verstehe ich nicht, warum man sich ein Getränk selbst zapfen darf, aber ein zweites schon nicht mehr. Was das Essen betrifft, das habe ich, egal bei welchem IKEA, noch nie gemocht. Das ist wohl reine Geschmackssache. Im Kindermenü war jetzt aber ein kleines Stückchen Aluminium. Geht einfach nicht.

First time I’ve had a Mongolian buffet. It won’t be the last. The service is great, very warm and friendly. The food is just as great. Really tasty, apart from the croc, which didn’t taste of much.

This is not the first time I have been to Mongo’s but it’s my first review of it. Normally I come here with colleagues when we travel on business but last night I was by myself. I walked for approx 40 mins to get here as I like it that much. The reason I like it, is for the buffet. You choose your sauce then go up and put your raw ingredients in a bowl. The chef then cooks it. So you can be adventurous as you like, from chicken and beef to crocodile, osterich, zebra etc. Plenty of choices of meat and veg and all under your control. They have changed the way they charged but not for the best unfortunately, as previously it was a fixed amount for each bowl you have but now it is price for 100g. But saying that, the experience, staff and chef are outstanding. I would highly recommend you try it because you will never get the same taste experience twice.

Ate here last night and enjoyed it. It’s quite a popular place with a good atmosphere, I was turned away the 1st time as they had no space, so definitely consider making a reservation. The food was excellent, the concept is you choose your meats and vegetables, tell them what sauce you want it cooked in and then it’s cooked fresh for you. The choice is superb, a lot of all you can eat places skimp but here you have a choice of some ordinary meats but also a few more exotic and expensive ones like zebra, crocodile, ostrich and kangaroo. The sauces were great, I highly recommend the bbq one! Staff were also good and the service was friendly. Definitely worth a visit if you are in Essen

Fresh food, vibey atmosphere, good service, all made for a great meal in Essen. The asian/mongolian/thai flavours were all superb. The restaurant was full and after eating there, its easy to understand why.

We had a great meal for 25 euros , all you can eat , seafood , fish and all the types of meat you can think of from camel to ostrig. Next time I will choose smaller portions so I will have room to taste everything

For me a must visit restaurant. The all-you-can-eat offer provides you with a huge variety of different meat, fish and other food which will be freshly cooked and served at your table. The prices are reasonable for what you can eat here. Unfortunately, the atmosphere is not so special/interesting. The waiters are attentive and helpful when it comes to the question of the right sauces for each dish. You can easily reach this restaurant by bus (145) or tube (Stop Limbecker Platz). Come hungry and go satisfied and full! Even real Asians like the restaurant.

I really like the restaurant's concept of selecting the food materials and then giving them to the chef to cook them with selecting the sauce.. its really nice and of course freshly cooked. The service however is not that great, the staff are talking to each other, ignoring the customers at times. But good food and nice experience in general

Very interesting place where you select into a bowl what is to be prepared on the hot plate with a sauce of your choice. Large selection of vegetables, tofu, noodles and meets and sea food available. Eat much as you can option available. Crocodile, kangaroo, ostrich, duck, beef, pork, turkey, chicken meats to choose from. Very tasty, including good desert. As a starter soup and INSECTS available. Tried insects and were ok (crisps with sauce). Very friendly staff. Filly recommended.

Omg how much we ate. I love the concept that u put everything u want in a bowl and it gets cooked with the souce you choose (some are very spicy be careful). Loved this place. Also there are a lot of choises between the proteins to choose, very different types of meat (some exotic like kanguroo) and fish (I only had fish that night). A bit expensive tho, but u know before going there that the all u can eat menu is quite expensive (around 30€ if I remember correctly). To try.

I've been here two or three times and the food and the concept for ordering etc. is great. However, each time I've had the fish I have ended the night in the toilet, and friends have had a similar experience.

Book in advance at all times and take your time to enjoy the full variety of food. We decided on our first visit spontaneously on a Sunday late afternoon. Without reservation we could only get a table for 1.5 hours. Therefore we decided on dinner a-la-carte and did not assemble appetiser, main course and desert from 'raw materials' of the barbeque. As the place is very small they crammed too many tables and seats into the restaurant. Perhaps they should try for a new venue with more space to fulfil the demand.

If you want to try something different about food this is the place. Zebra, Crocodile, Kangoroo... You choose an marinade and various kind of vegetables and beef. It will be cooked together and served in your table..... Delicious..... It is easier to try than explain.
