More style than substance, overpriced ready-made meals that are barely warm. Anyone comparing this selection, portion sizes, and quality with competitors in the Asian food sector has to conclude that they're selling overpriced ready-made sushi and convenience food from the Asian market range. Aside from sushi, the selection is meager and of questionable quality, especially when Asian noodles are served at only 52 degrees Celsius in a tiny portion. Furthermore, the oil used caused unpleasant burping, which should never happen in a well-run restaurant. There are better and more varied competitors in the area with fresh ingredients, not ready-made meals.

Ichiban at the Rolandsmauer! After eight years of happily dining here in large groups with various friends, I unfortunately have to change my review. Since the new receptionist started working here, they've suddenly started arguing that food allergies can't be accommodated. At first, it was just a denial that such a thing couldn't possibly exist, and that it would be difficult to implement in the service (odd, since it worked perfectly for eight years, even when the restaurant was full). Today, it got to the point where they said they were so busy that it wasn't feasible. So: officially, this establishment doesn't cater to food allergies since the staff change. We won't be coming back, what a shame...

Unfortunately, I have to retract my review from 8 years ago. It used to be a very nice restaurant with a pleasant atmosphere and friendly service. The food was delicious. Since the last change of manager, the food has deteriorated, the staff were constantly changing, and they seemed more stressed than anyone else. The worst experience was today, November 22, 2025. When we requested that no sauce be added to our food due to an intolerance, we were told, "We can't do that. It's always forgotten." We left the restaurant and will definitely not be returning.

Unfortunately, Ichiban has raised its prices from €24.99 to €32.50. The quality of the food remains unchanged, and the once typical Japanese flair is barely noticeable anymore. It now feels more like a fast-food joint belonging to a chain restaurant. The unique dining experience it once was is sadly gone. A real shame! And there's no Japanese background music. We notice things like this.

Disappointing... We chose the all-you-can-eat option... the only thing that justifies the €32 per person is that you get full. The place feels more like a snack bar than a restaurant. We arrived at 8:15 p.m., and we had to wait a long time at the table until we finally got our trays. So the 2-hour wait didn't work. We only had 1.5 hours to eat. The food came pretty quickly, but a lot of it was lukewarm and tasted okay... you might as well buy something pre-packaged. The tables are so close together that you feel like you're sharing a table with your neighbor. It's incredibly loud; you can hear plates clattering from the kitchen... some music wouldn't hurt. 0 coziness!! The tables aren't cleared and are poorly wiped; there's no decoration, not even spices or soy sauce. The staff doesn't talk to you; the records are brought out without a word. The highlight are the toilets: broken, dirty...urine everywhere. There was no tip for such a service, and we'll be back.

We booked the all-you-can-eat option. I don't think that's bad, and the number of rounds would be okay if there weren't a time limit. You want to try so many things, but you can only order five items per person per round, which wouldn't be a problem if there weren't a time limit. You only have two hours to wait (according to the website), which means you can't even take the time to eat properly. You can order a new round after ten minutes, or once you've finished eating. So you have to order again as soon as you're done. You're basically just stuffing yourself because you're always under time pressure and can't even really enjoy it. We only got four rounds. The service was quite fast, but they spoke quite quietly, so you couldn't always understand what was what. The restaurant itself is nicely decorated, though, and the robot is kind of cute with its face on the screen and its cat ears on its side.

The Ichiban Restaurant is a true highlight! You feel welcome the moment you enter – the ambiance is stylish without being overly pretentious, immediately creating a pleasant atmosphere. The service was simply outstanding: the team is incredibly friendly, attentive, and yet pleasantly professional. You can tell they work with real passion – every request was immediately fulfilled, and despite the professionalism, the warmth never fell by the wayside. The absolute highlight, however, was the food. The sushi was not only fresh, but perfectly prepared – from the quality of the fish to the delicate balance of flavors. Each piece was a small work of art that literally melted on the palate. You rarely find such a level of quality, and I can say without exaggeration: This was the best sushi of my life. The side dishes and details were also prepared with such love and precision that you can tell how much emphasis is placed on the highest quality here. The prices may be on the high side, but they are absolutely justified. You're happy to pay for this freshness, this taste, and this service. For me, Ichiban is a restaurant that sets standards – and I'm already looking forward to my next visit.

This was our first time at Ichiban and we were immediately disappointed. The welcome was anything but warm – we were left standing at the entrance for about five minutes without even a glance. After another 15 minutes, we asked ourselves if we could at least order a drink. Other guests who arrived after us had already been served. We were unfamiliar with the tablet ordering system – but there was no introduction or explanation. Instead, we were asked to write our order on a slip of paper, which was promptly taken away from us even though we hadn't even looked through it all. The staff seemed unmotivated and made little visible effort to be attentive or friendly – as if they were practically ignoring us. The atmosphere in the restaurant was more reminiscent of a hectic train station: the waiters were constantly running back and forth, restlessness, and no sense of well-being. The food itself was delicious – we ordered à la carte because the buffet wouldn't have been worth it for us. The prices are quite high, which would be fine if the rest of the food was good. Unfortunately, we barely enjoyed our visit and just finished eating before leaving. It's especially unfortunate, as I had been given a gift card and was looking forward to a nice evening. Unfortunately, this was our first and last visit.

I ate sushi at this restaurant a few days ago and subsequently suffered from a very unpleasant bout of food poisoning—with all the classic symptoms lasting several days. It was an extremely stressful experience, both physically and emotionally. I'm not writing this review out of anger, but to warn others. Freshness and hygiene are absolutely crucial when it comes to raw fish—something was clearly not right here. I hope that quality will be taken more seriously in the future.

For all-you-can-eat, it's very tasty, in my opinion. The employees often seem stressed. Last time, we unfortunately had to wait 15 minutes to get our tablet, and our seat wasn't ideal because it was practically right next to the door to the restrooms. Since both men and women have to go through the door to get to the restrooms, a lot of people walked through the door. Since the door is heavy, you get a bit of a breeze every time, which bothered me a lot at first, but otherwise, it's nice there.

I was disappointed! We opted for the buffet, and you could order via a tablet. Coke Zero was advertised, with the symbol for Diet Coke. When we asked, the waitress said she didn't know whether it was Diet Coke or Zero, but it tasted the same... The price for the buffet – nothing to write home about, considering the quality. The edamame were raw and too hard, and when we asked and informed the waitress, they took them away, and the next portion was the same. The sushi rice was no longer fresh, just like the salmon. The wasabi, as you can see in the photo, was crumbly, dry, and not fresh either! Ginger, on the other hand, was fresh and delicious. We love mochi for dessert, but they were only offered for an additional charge! The ice cream was full of freezer burn and ice crystals. The waitress brought food without saying a word and didn't respond to our thanks. Sometimes the food was delivered by a robot, which was very sticky and smeared. The parking lots were completely overcrowded, as always, and you have to pay another €1 for the chip to leave! It's a shame, the price-performance ratio isn't right here, and the quality has declined...

Well... I haven't experienced anything like this in a long time. When it was new, it was really delicious, worth seeing, and a "must-see." Now it's just a thawed mass-produced item, and at such a high price. I've never experienced wasabi that was dry before... very disappointing. Sushi was dry and not fresh. The edamame that I "love" were, as if thawed, difficult to eat. Despite warning me that I couldn't eat them, the service wasn't very accommodating. They brought me a new bowl, which was just as inedible. Being Asian myself, I know how it's prepared, and they taste just like that. I could write so much more, but it's not worth it. I was there on a Saturday night. Not a recommendation. Unfortunately, only criticism.

Disappointing Restaurant Visit My girlfriend and I had reserved a table for 6 p.m. today. Unfortunately, the evening got off to a rather bumpy start: We had to wait a full 15 minutes in the entrance area before someone showed us a table – even though several employees walked past us several times, no one noticed us. Ordering via the tablet was generally easy, but only if you're familiar with it. The food arrived fairly quickly, but unfortunately, many of the items didn't seem fresh. Some even tasted sour, which made us very suspicious – we decided to leave them alone. I find the concept of having to pay for uneaten food particularly questionable. But if you're unsure about the quality, it just doesn't feel right. To make matters worse, some of the orders we placed via the tablet never arrived at all – we never received them. And when we finally pressed "Pay," it took another 20 minutes before anyone attended to us. In the meantime, our food was brought to us – but it had already been 45 minutes since our order, and we hadn't ordered anything else. When we politely stated that we didn't want any more, the reaction was rather rude – from the manager or an employee, it wasn't entirely clear. Luckily, we made it clear that we wouldn't pay for something we didn't order – and this was reluctantly accepted. Overall, unfortunately, it wasn't a pleasant visit for us, and we probably won't be coming back.

My girlfriend and I weren't asked if we were familiar with the concept. Luckily, we'd already been adequately informed about it at another restaurant (Miso Belm), otherwise we would have been lost. You're given unkind directions to your table after waiting for minutes at the entrance, where you're simply ignored, even though all the employees notice you. We ordered salad three times in three rounds. Not once did it arrive, not even when we informed the staff. The rice tasted stale and the fish sour. It also often smelled unpleasant. The staff were clearly annoyed when we brought this up. Sometimes orders arrived at the table that we hadn't actually placed. It felt like mass processing, and the staff were incredibly overwhelmed. This stress also affects you. Something was also broken, and the liquid wasn't properly wiped away. Grossly negligent towards everyone else.

The food is extremely tasty for a buffet, but... The service does not meet my expectations. Not only was our table not cleared between courses, making it difficult to continue eating, but unfortunately the service staff were also unable to speak. Apart from a "Hello" at the beginning and a "It was tasty" at the end, not a word was spoken to us. Even the fish inhabitants of bikinibottem have more text, which is a shame! I have no fundamental complaints about the dishes, apart from the fact that the edamame in one course consisted entirely of salt. I was in the restaurant with my girlfriend on a Saturday. It was early afternoon and we were the only guests in the lower area. I only like to evaluate the furnishings in daylight and it looked Asian modern. As is usual in a sushi restaurant, we were each given a clear menu and an order form to fill out ourselves. The selection of dishes for fish lovers is okay. Unfortunately, the sushi plates only offer a clear selection. And there was actually only one non-fish dish to choose from. I have to say, contrary to my companion, I don't like fish. Which is of course inconvenient in a sushi restaurant, so I was grateful for the chicken satay skewers. However, the price was calculated quite sportily. There were six small skewers with five packets of sushi rice. There was absolutely nothing wrong with the taste. According to her, my friend's sushi plate tasted good, and there were also a few individual sushi. With two drinks, a small Cola Zero and an iced tea, we paid around 65 euros without a tip. I was happy to give a tip because the service was very exemplary and attentive. Plus a pinch of humor and customer friendliness. The lady enhanced the entire experience. Overall, I would say the price was basically reasonable for the sushi. The satay skewers for just under 19 euros were a little excessive in terms of value for money. The immediate neighborhood is interesting. There is an oriental restaurant right next door where you can get food for under 10 euros. I like to recommend Ichiban. The ambience, quality and presentation of the food are good. Our service that day was very good. Thank you

We were there for the first time on the recommendation of friends, but unfortunately we were completely disappointed! We had the All You Can Eat for €32. For the price you would expect higher quality sushi. The sushi was cold and dry, as if it had been in the fridge for a long time. Even fried sushi was cold and didn't taste like anything. The sushi was hardly filled with anything, the main thing was enough rice. Some rolls were so small that you couldn't even see the salmon that was supposed to be in there. Absolutely not recommended! You can eat better for the money.

Disappointing experience – unfortunately no longer recommended We ordered for two people via Lieferando and spent a total of €45. Unfortunately, the quality delivered did not meet our expectations in any way. Instead of high-quality à la carte sushi, we received a compilation that was more reminiscent of leftovers or standard all-you-can-eat quality. Unfortunately, compared to restaurants like Ichiban am Domhof or in Münster, this was a disappointing experience. After a call in which we described the visual and quality defects of the food (see pictures), our concern was not taken seriously. The only response from the staff was: “Unfortunately that’s how it is for us.” Treating customers like this is regrettable. Unfortunately this will be the last time we order from here. I also feel compelled to withdraw my previous recommendation to friends to visit this restaurant.

Gleich am Empfang sagte mir die junge chinesische Kellerin, dass das Kind 6 Euro costet, ich habe OK gesagt und mitgeteilt, dass das Kind nur 2 Jahr alt ist (obwohl vor der Eingangstür steht: Kinder ab 3 Jahr alt erst 9 Euro zahlen). Dann sagte die Kellerin, dass das Kind 9 Euro cost. sagte die Kellerin, 6 Euro ist für a la Karte, 9 Euro für Buffet. Ich habe dann gefragt, warum steht vor der Eingangstür ab 3 Jahre alt 9 Euro für Buffet, das ist LÜGEN. dann sagte die chinesische Kellerin zu mir,: du musst nicht hier essen! Ich wollte den Chef ansprechen, dann sagte sie: der Chef ist heute nicht da! Wir sind also dann ausgegangen, das Kind fragt mich warum... in 20 minutes sind wir bei Kakkoii gelanded mit herzlichen deutschen Bedienung. Die ganze Zeit haben wir nur auf Chinesisch gesprochen, die anderen Gäste haben nichts mitbekommen, die haben auch keine Kinder... Für so eine schöne Stadt Osnabrück find ich echt traurig, so ein restaurant zu haben und noch trauriger, von den Landsleute unfreundlich angesprochen zu werden. Das Restaurant soll auf der Zettel vor der Tür ändern: alle Kinder müssen zahlen. Google möchte die Wahrheit nicht veröffentlichen und ich muss die Bewertung mehrmals verbessern. The all you can eat concept works well, ordering via tablet is quick and the ingredients are fresh and very well prepared. The service has it well under control. Parking is difficult. We had to rely on the car. Otherwise public transport is the better alternative. I didn't visit any sanitary facilities. Price performance is high but the ingredients are fresh and the selection is good. Yes, it's expensive but I think it's adequate.

Were there yesterday at 6 p.m. Ambiance is fine. But telling guests right at the beginning that you should be gone by 8 p.m. really doesn't work at all. Orders either didn't arrive at all or arrived twice. Shortly before half-past someone came and said that it would be the last order for us and at 8 p.m. it was the end of the day and you had to leave. I have to say I really expected more, for the money I'll eat somewhere else.

Hello, The concept is good. 1. You will be escorted to your table. 2. The order will be explained to you via the app. 3. You order drinks and food via the app 4. A waiter places (almost throwing) a plate with a dish on the table and moves on. 5. The cellars now come by at different speeds and put down a plate. Some things are delivered quickly, others very late. The price of the meal costs around €36 per person. Unfortunately the food was cold! This is of course intentional with sushi. Not with fried salmon, tuna fillets, beef or pork. Our table didn't have its own ceiling light and the other tables were a little further away. So it was a bit dark while eating. The room is very noisy, from the waiters bringing food and clearing plates and from the other guests. 10 dishes can be ordered every 8 minutes. All uneaten dishes cost €5. A dish is, for example, 4 small spring rolls or 3 suchis. If you like my review, I would be happy about a like.

Online booking was confusing. Since we are Osnabrück residents, we know that this location offers 2-hour slots. From 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. and from 8 p.m. to 10 p.m. Nevertheless, their online booking system allows you to choose times every 30 minutes. It was precisely these options that led us to reserve a table online for 6:30 p.m. a few weekends earlier. However, when we wanted to make the reservation at 6:30 p.m., the table had already been given to someone else. Uncomfortable for someone who doesn't know the location. This time we booked for 6 p.m. Apparently our last name was too complicated and we were asked for a reservation number. Since the email didn't mention keeping this number, we had to search through our emails, which took a few moments. After a short unraveling, we were kindly brought to the table. With a finger pointing at the table and an unfriendly “8 p.m.”, without eye contact, without a smile, without friendliness, he was dismissed. Somehow amusing and cheeky. We already know the all-you-can-eat process there. So we were able to forego the very friendly introduction. The drinks came quickly. Great! In the first round of orders we ordered mostly warm food. Unfortunately, these arrived lukewarm. And if you order more than just one option, lukewarm food quickly turns into cold food. And cold food that should actually be hot/warm quickly becomes inedible. This continued through all ordering rounds. And the more rounds progressed, the colder the food was served. During dessert, one of us was given a spoon for the ice cream, which still had dried food residue stuck to it. We had a place from which you had a good view of the kitchen area. Orders often pile up here. In such hectic times, we understand that the service has to stay cool. But not the food please! All in all the experience was not pleasant. It felt like the “machine” wasn’t quite aligned there yet. If you then look at the price under the circumstances, the price/performance ratio doesn't feel balanced. We always preferred Ichiban to other sushi alternatives in Osnabrück. But that was once.

When we got there we were given an iPad (just the case) that smelled like vomit. I don't think that's possible at all. When you asked the waitress about it, not a word was said, they just took the iPad case away without an apology. That ruined all my appetite. We've been to Ichiban several times and the food has always been good, but an experience like this doesn't even save a 5 star menu. I think if you expect something like that from your customer you should at least apologize, but rather you should spend something or get creative about how you can make up for such a mistake.

The restaurant is basically on a main street. There are not enough parking spaces directly around it. There is a parking garage 5 minutes walk away. The quality of the food is mixed. My partner liked the fish and meat from good to very good. Pak choi was also great in combination with sauce, but not on its own. Edamame is also good (but you can't go wrong) The sushi was ok. Unfortunately, the fried sushi came cold and soggy and was therefore less edible. The selection is good, there is something for everyone, including vegetarians. It's more about getting full than enjoying good food. The Hugo was terrible. When asked, more syrup was added, but it still tasted like toilet flushing. Was it also served with lemon instead of mint?! The neighbor's table wasn't impressed with the Lillet either. I didn't like the miso soup. The vanilla ice cream was of very good quality, but the coconut ice cream was not. The other desserts weren't very appetizing either. The service was nice, but the plates kept getting swapped with the neighboring table. The restaurant is very large and basically divided into 3 areas. However, it's getting loud in the rooms so you can't understand what you're saying. You also sit very close to the other tables. It would be more pleasant if there were fewer tables. We paid a total of around €60 for two buffets. The drink prices are within normal limits. We won't come again.

One way to recognize freshly made maki is that they are still crunchy on the outside before they have absorbed any moisture. If they are being prepared to meet a large rush of orders, I can understand it, but I think it's a shame because I would have to accept longer waiting times for that. But if, like when I visited, the rice from the sushi is already dry/crispy from storage, then I can go straight to Rewe and eat EatHappySushi. The service was very attentive, but it was cold.

Never never never go to Ichiban again. This is a disgraceful shop. As we walked past we saw the shop and thought it was really nice. So we went in and asked if there was still a table available for two and we got one straight away without waiting. The waiter briefly explained to us how everything works. So all the numbers were written on the piece of paper and handed in. The order was two vegan plates, one miso soup, two Edamme, one Spezi and one mineral water. I happened to be looking at the clock. When we handed in the note with the order it was 7:28 p.m. Then it started. Wait wait wait. The drinks finally arrive at 8:12 p.m. No less than 40 minutes for friends and water. I told the waiter my displeasure and said that if the food wasn't there in 5 minutes we would cancel the order. And now the kicker. Suddenly a young lady appeared and wanted to explain to me that she didn't enter the order into the system until 8 p.m. According to the motto... You're only waiting 12 minutes. Luckily there was another couple there who were also annoyed because they had already been waiting an hour for their food. When the food came after 10 minutes, I asked the lady in question (felt like a superior to us) how it could be that it took them 30 minutes to put in the order because she actually lies to her face that she said 7:30 p.m. Also thanks to the neighbors who supported us with the truth. By then we had received the two plates and the drinks. THAT'S IT. How could it be otherwise, the Edamme and the miso soup were of course included on the bill, even though we didn't get them. Sorry, but the whole thing is unforgivable for a restaurant. Even if you were understaffed, supposedly. GUYS DON’T GO THERE!!!

The portions are for children. When we complained, the boss came with another card. On this one, my dish (23 euros for 7 sushi) was shown as 14 euros. It would have been an oversight.... My colleague had the same thing. We were told that guests usually leave something behind. Since there is so much. (see picture) That was the crowning achievement! Never again.

Very tasty and varied “all you can eat” offer. The sushi and everything else is very tasty. You pay the amount for the AYCE offer once, then get a tablet and sit down. Orders are placed via the tablet and how exactly this works are explained. Drinks cost extra and some special things too, but they are very little, most of it is included. Depending on whether you come at lunchtime or in the evening, you decide what kind of offer there is. Super rude! I had a NeoTaste deal and wanted to order 2 for 1 falafel – because the weather was so nice, I wanted to take it with me. I was then told that this wouldn't work because two people would have to stand there and order?! Where's the logic? Well, that was my last visit here. It's a shame, I've always liked it here.
