Highly recommended for culinary reasons, but it's advisable to reserve a table. We went to the restaurant today quite spontaneously – we got a table – albeit for a limited time – but it was perfectly adequate for a meal – we were grateful to be seated without having to reserve. The service is very attentive and super friendly, and they explain the dishes with great enthusiasm – so you get excited about the food. We will definitely come back for dinner. 👌🫶🤗 Today, May 7, 2025 We decided on the Hummelbude again – as always, we felt very comfortable. Very good food: asparagus, oyster mushroom schnitzel, potatoes, and a super delicious vegan hollandaise sauce.

A restaurant that cooks purely plant-based food at a high level. The name sounds a bit alternative :-) but the facilities, service and menu fit perfectly into the family FineDinig concept! One of three restaurants in Essen that are recommended in the Slow Food gourmet guide! Particularly noteworthy are the sources, such as the dishes from the ceramicist around the corner and the vegetables from Solawi in Heidhausen. Really good, clean and fair! 💚

Just something different!!!! The menu is recommended and not too expensive. The drink accompaniment is also interesting. We'll be back! Everything explained nicely. 1 carafe of table water is free. Exceptional and beautiful shop.

We attended Easter brunch today. The service was great, the atmosphere was great and the food was incredibly tasty. First of all: the chairs are very comfortable, you can sit there for a really long time and enjoy the food. We had specified allergens in advance, but forgot one and we took this into account at short notice and adapted the menu for the person concerned. All courses were very well coordinated with delicious, fresh ingredients and beautifully presented. We were regularly asked if we needed anything else and we were looked after very well. The brunch was really reasonably priced, we paid 35 euros for 3 courses with a drink included. Of course that's a lot of money, but for fine dining at this level it was worth it. We'll be happy to come back again and again, thank you for the lovely day ❤️

When sales are more important than guests... Unfortunately I can't say anything about the quality of the products, only how you are treated as a potential guest. I recently reserved a table online very spontaneously in the morning and canceled it the same day after about 2-3 hours. Since it was very spontaneous, I didn't read the cancellation conditions (€25 per person!), I realize my mistake and that I understand that an operator also has to protect themselves due to loss of sales. But since it was very spontaneous and I can't imagine that so many reservations would have been received during that time, I think it would be fair to a potential customer if we had found a different solution. My daughter recently became vegan and since we knew the Hummelbude from other events, I would have liked to eat at the Hummelbude. It's a shame, sales are just going up!!!

Great fine dining in a relaxed atmosphere!

Sheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee with it! So I was still amazed two days later. And the drink accompaniment to the menu... fantastic.

A fantastic atmosphere, extremely friendly and relaxed staff, and, to top it all off, incredibly delicious food, artfully presented. Those interested can also learn a little something from a short history of the edible creations. Especially for the price, it's simply fantastic! Highly recommended!

I'm not vegan, but I really enjoyed the menu. The non-alcoholic drinks were also excellent. I'll definitely be back.

There were four of us there and we had a lot of fun. Unfortunately I can only give it 2 stars. I'll leave out the many other details that we experienced and limit the feedback to the most important points. The soup, the tempeh and, above all, the Maultaschen tasted like nothing (worth over €20). The four of us really thought we had Corona - We really thought we had a problem with our sense of taste. We weren't even asked if we wanted something to drink. A €6.50 drink with nettle was 150 ml. Unfortunately there was a nasty smell of drains in the evening. We are of the opinion that the desire for fine dining still needs to be practiced, which is completely fine!! But not for the prices. We wish you lots of success with the project

An absolutely great place! The team is very friendly and you can feel the good atmosphere in the team. We went to the Finnish event and were more than thrilled. For sure again soon!

I always enjoy coming to Hummelbude, the food is very tasty, the service is great and attentive. I have rarely seen such great vegan food and I have rarely experienced the level of care with which allergies are taken into account. The atmosphere is chic, but without being too forced. The changing menu makes it a new experience every time. Just great!

Creative, very well coordinated 4-course menu and a great wine selection. The sauerkraut cream soup and the colorful beetroot gnocchi were real highlights.

In any case, the Hummelbude ends up in my top 5 vegan cuisine. Great combination of the different components to create a truly sensational enjoyment experience! I had the full menu with all courses and celebrated it. If you would like to spend a great vegan highlight evening far away from the monotony, reserve Hummelbude directly... The lemon miso ice cream, unbelievable!

The two of us spent an evening in the Hummelbude. The menu is small but the creations are very exciting. The 3-course menu was excellent - even without a drink - the ambience definitely invites you to linger and the service is great. The ingredients are very regional and of a very high quality. We will definitely come back.

I live a few streets down and have been going here now and then for the past few years. Here in the Fronx, with its rather working class and lower-socio economic offerings of numerous döner joints and grilled XYZ, I feel very fortunate to have a healthy, delicious and affordable dining option close by.

Very nicely decorated restaurant with exceptional vegan dishes. There are always very seasonal products where the origin is taken into account. The pick up Christmas dinners were also fantastic. The price is rather high, but definitely recommended as an event every few months!

Very tasty vegan food. There is a changing lunch menu. The cheesecake was also very good. The ambience is also very nice.

We were at the finissage and were able to try out the menu in a multi-course menu. Creatively prepared, very varied in taste and elaborately cooked. Accompanied by good wines and a cremand, but also great non-alcoholic lemonades. Very nice atmosphere around the Hummel and friendly and interested service! We were thrilled and will be back!

We were really looking forward to the visit and were not disappointed. Our budget isn't enough for a regular visit, but that doesn't matter because it was nice to really enjoy our visit to this special restaurant.

The Hummelbude is a beautiful café where you can (almost) always find a spot. The ambience is totally pleasant, the furnishings are tasteful and there is enough space between the tables to sit comfortably and have a good chat. Without exception, the food is always delicious and of really good quality. You can taste that everything is really homemade. An absolute highlight, especially for vegans, as high-quality vegan cuisine at low prices is rare and even rarer to be as varied as the Hummelbude menu. The drinks menu also has everything you need - from classics to original seasonal drinks. The service is friendly, approachable and attentive and also has great cooperation internally. I always enjoy going there and am super happy to have such a great café in Frohnhausen. Definitely the best café in the district and certainly among the top 10 in Essen.

We ordered the menu with non-alcoholic drinks here a few weeks ago. The food was truly exceptional and amazing in texture, taste and presentation! The service was friendly and very amusing and when the ideas behind the well-coordinated dishes were explained to us, a whole new dimension of taste opened up for us. Gladly again!

We had lunch at the Hummelbude and were really impressed. The food was very good and the service was also super good and nice. The portions aren't huge, but you can still fit in a delicious piece of cake.

Hummelbude's dishes are not simply vegan "and still delicious", but better than any of their non-vegan counterparts. Refined with numerous details, the team creates variety on every plate, bringing previously unknown delights to the palate and eyes. The service is unobtrusive, always friendly and down-to-earth at the same time, so that it feels like dining with friends. We always look forward to the new developments as well as the established classics.

Vegan restaurant with charm. Tastefully designed location that invites you to munch on a green, tasty menu. Small but fine selection of creative dishes with a discounted recommendation option as a 3 or 4 course variant. Sustainable and ecological concept. Drink selection could be a little more innovative, but we liked and enjoyed the homemade kombucha. Super friendly and attentive service staff. This is how hospitality works. The only recommendation to the kitchen is to use gluten-free Tamari soy sauce instead of the wheat-based version. This means that all guests with intolerances can benefit from significantly more choice.

One of the best vegan restaurants I know, super creative cuisine, great combinations, great team! My picky teenagers love the food at Hummelbude and try dishes there that they wouldn't even look at otherwise ;)

Yesterday we were at the Hummelbude for the menu finissage. The small restaurant looks great, is cozy and not too fancy. Come as you are is lived here. The service is friendly and attentive. The menu consisted of almost all dishes from the current menu: a small greeting from the kitchen, starter, soup, two main courses and dessert. Everything tastes high, unusual and very tasty. There was also a suitable drink accompaniment (alcoholic 3 drinks, non-alcoholic 4 drinks). Both drink pairings were okay, but not perfectly matched. The negative point was clearly that we weren't full. With a price for two people of €150 plus tip, I expected to be well full.

First of all I have to compliment the team! Very nice and accommodating! The food is super delicious! I've been there a few times now, always at lunchtime, but I've always found a delicious dish that suits my taste. I also find the ambience very cozy and yet modern, and there is also the option to grab a book from the shelf and read it if you want to go there alone. So all in all a very successful concept.

Die Atmosphäre ist schön, friedlich, die Einrichtung ist toll, Essen + Getränke super, Betreiber + Personal leben das, was sie machen! Am Ein- und Ausgang stehen immer wieder Gläser mit Marmelade und mehr - zum Mitnehmen/käuflichen Erwerb. Ich gehe immer wieder sehr gerne in die Hummelbude!

Today was the first, but hopefully not the last, finissage. The current menu was served in several courses, including 3 starters, 2 main courses and 2 desserts. And it was sooo delicious. There were also non-alcoholic drinks for the driver and wine for the accompaniment. Price/performance was great and - I think I've already mentioned it - it was so delicious. There were: mushroom consommé with tortellino, chorizo ​​pieces and foam, celery ice cream, grill torch, Leipziger Allerlei, granite with thyme and rosemary and the mojito. What a hammer.

Great 4-course experience for vegans, or anyone who wants to try out a strong plant-based restaurant. There are also individual dishes, so you don't have to choose a 3 or 4 course menu. We were served by a super friendly, professional and pleasant lady. Cozy atmosphere and great quality of food. According to the map, people even shop at the organic wholesale market! I came across the Hummelbude via Google Maps and the good reviews. The website then did the rest because I really liked the philosophy shown there. Anyway, we reserved a table and went there. We were warmly welcomed and served on site. The menu and dishes were explained to us in a way that was easy to understand and what we got on the table was simply TOP! Excellent craftsmanship, very tasty and large enough portions so that you didn't have to stuff yourself but rather enjoy. The restaurant itself is modern, cozy and very clean! The people who work there are attentive, unobtrusive and polite. The prices may not seem very low, but in my opinion they are reasonable. Everything fits somehow, we'll be back, no question!

Inquiries to the kitchen were also responded to in a friendly and prompt manner. The coffee is definitely recommended! Absolute recommendation even for non-vegans. For me one of the best restaurants in the Ruhr area. I still knew it as a charming café and bistro and miss the fact that there is no longer breakfast on weekend mornings. It is now a beautifully furnished, upscale restaurant with lunch and fine dining in the evening. Professional staff, nice atmosphere and, above all, great food. Reservations recommended.

Das Essen war absolut köstlich – jede Speise war mit viel Liebe zum Detail zubereitet und die Zutaten waren frisch und hochwertig. Der Service war ebenfalls erstklassig. Das Personal war freundlich, aufmerksam und sehr professionell. Unsere Bedienung hat sich viel Zeit genommen, um uns die Speisekarte zu erklären und Empfehlungen auszusprechen. Es wurde stets darauf geachtet, dass es uns an nichts fehlte. Die Preise sind absolut angemessen für die hohe Qualität der Speisen und den exzellenten Service. Es ist selten, ein Restaurant zu finden, das in allen Bereichen so gut abschneidet. Alles in allem kann ich es empfehlen hier Essen zu gehen. Went to the Hummelbude for the first time at the weekend and were very impressed with everything! Everything in the small outdoor area is beautifully planted and we actually had lots of bumblebees visiting :) The sandwich and our cakes were delicious and the coffee was just right. We were also given a very warm welcome and really well served. We will definitely come back and are VERY happy that the Hummelbude is in our future neighborhood!

The three of us were here on Saturday evening. The ambience and furnishings are very atmospheric. Upscale, but by no means aloof. The service was very competent, friendly and pleasantly unobtrusive. Now to the menu: I had the eggplant myself and although I was a bit skeptical beforehand as to whether it would be boring or unexciting given the "vegetables on vegetables on vegetables", I was more than surprised. The various components were excellently coordinated with one another and the different flavors came into their own even more in combination than individually. My companions had the new potato and the oyster schnitzel with asparagus. Here too I received only positive feedback. The desserts were exceptional and also really tasty. Simply WOW! It was our first time here and we will definitely come back. Since the menu changes approximately every two weeks, we are very excited about the new menu! The dishes were very imaginative and creative, wonderfully tasty and completely vegan! Even our two meat eaters were thrilled. Star suspicious! The prices are absolutely fair for the quality offered, there are two all gender toilets and as a queer AuDHD I always feel safe (because understood and accepted) with you. I took a cooking class with my son! It was a lovely afternoon and we had a lot of fun. The cooking class was very interesting with a few tricks from the professionals. We enjoyed the food and would take a cooking class again! The atmosphere is nice and cozy, the employees are all very nice and friendly. I can really recommend the restaurant!

This was one of the best restaurants I have ever eaten at. This vegan-vegetarian restaurant is incredibly cozy and the staff is very nice. The composition of the dishes was perfectly prepared both in terms of taste and visually. Everything was right and I can only recommend it. There were very interesting and also modern combinations.

In the Hummelbude you get a wonderful selection of different “flavor harmonies” at the Fine Diner. We were there for the first time and tried a few things, there wasn't anything we didn't like. Special features of the guests (gluten intolerance) are taken into account and even dishes are adapted accordingly. We received a very friendly welcome and service and would love to come back.

We went for fine dining at the Hummelbude (vegans + non-vegans) and everyone loved the food. We had dinner here a few weeks ago. I liked the following things: +Nice, bright, modern atmosphere. +Everything is vegan + except for the welcome, friendly staff / Neutral things: • The taste of the food was ok, but nothing more / Negative things: -The restaurant was quite empty. But we were seated at a table that was right next to a table that was already occupied. - I found the prices a bit exaggerated. For some Brussels sprouts €20. The dish wasn't even particularly creative/unusual. Conclusion: we will not come back.

Wir haben einen schönen Abend mit veganem Essen in hervorragender Qualität erlebt. Der Service war freundlich und kompetent. Obwohl wir keine veganer sind, würden wir jederzeit wieder hier essen gehen.
