Hugo & Notte - Restaurant im Französischen Dom in Berlin

Located right in the city center, at the absolute tourist hotspot – as a Berliner, I don't need to experience this again. Upscale. The food was delicious, but very expensive. The service was very reserved, but not unfriendly. Unfortunately, our food was simply placed in front of us without, for example, a quick note about what kind of spread we had with the bread. We even had to light the candles on the tables ourselves. In my opinion, that's part of good service! The ambiance in the dome is kind of nice, but also very drafty/hall-like.

Superb experience! The setting is magnificent under the French church in Berlin! The waitresses are discreet and very friendly. The meal is delicious and reasonably priced! Just one small criticism: for a French restaurant, the menu could be translated into French, and a greeting with a "bonjour" would be nice. 😋

Fantastic! We had a wonderful evening with great food, a superb wine recommendation, and very attentive and friendly service in a truly elegant setting. The location, the music, the decorations… all this on an evening after an Advent concert four days before Christmas Eve… It couldn't have been better. Many thanks to the team!

I had such a wonderful time! The food was absolutely delicious, and we had a very friendly server at our table. I was there with my family, and despite a few minor hiccups, we felt very welcome and comfortable. Thank you for this wonderful experience!

The restaurant was about 30% capacity and I stood at the Concierge‘s desk for 10 minutes. No one checked on me. They just passed by. The food looked quite mid.

Great restaurant in the French Cathedral! The interior is beautiful. The staff are very accommodating, friendly, and always have a few kind words for their guests. The cake was delicious, the beer cold, the hot chocolate nice and warm, and the prices are reasonable. We'd be happy to go back!!! After a while, we finally made it to the restaurant. The food was excellent, and the staff was still very friendly. The wine was delicious, and the ambiance is fantastic. What restaurant has a church on one side and a cathedral on the other?!? We'd be happy to go back!!!

A lovely restaurant with good service, however, I was quite disappointed with the food. I always thought you can’t go wrong with French cooking, but, apparently you can. We had the quiche and the Coq Au cider. The quiche did not have any egg in it only mushrooms. OK, maybe that’s how it’s made, but that’s not what I was expecting. And the coq au cider tasted like hoisin sauce. We were literally the only people in the restaurant for a while, but the four waitresses were just scrolling on Instagram instead of really helping us understand the menu. I haven’t eaten in many places in Germany yet, and I understand that Cooking is different in every country, but I was not impressed with this one.

I ordered a rum steak 🥩 it was terrible, impossible to eat. I do not recommend this place to anyone!!!!! The waiter did not even ask me when I took the plate why I did not eat meat

Bring cash. Credit card reader was not working day we visited.

There was supposed to be a bar for the candlelight concert, because you're officially not allowed to bring anything into the cathedral, but, well, no luck. There were glasses there, but no sign. The waiter behind the counter just said...sorry, no drinks today. Maybe the staff should coordinate better. In this heat, it's unacceptable not to get water.

We reserved Hugo & Notte for our last night in Berlin and we weren't disappointed. The room is lovely - in the basement of the Französischen Dom - and as it was quiet on the night we went, it gives the restaurant a calm atmosphere. Service was professional and efficient. The selection of food is good and the vegetarian in our group had a choice of options. Our meal did was excellent and the prices were reasonable too given the quality and location.

The food was good and expensive, with medium portions. There were four of us. The starter and main course weren't served together, but rather scattered. The ordered bottle of wine didn't arrive until near the end of the meal. The manager was annoyed. A very unpleasant experience.

Urusel service. Det tog ca 30 min innan vi beställa ngt att dricka. Vi fick aldrig in något bröd. Vi fick maten efter en timme. Två i sällskapet åt risotto, en åt schnitzel och en åt karré. Alla rätter var smaklösa, risotton som var sparrisbasetad brstod av två små bitar grön sparris och fyra små bitar vit sparris. Karrén var fortfarande rosa när den serverades. Under den dryga 1 1/2 timme som vi var där var det flera sällskap som lämnade då de inte fick meny eller fick beställa. Servitriserna hade ingen aning om vilka bord som beställt vad. De sprang fram och tillbaka ...

Very poor service; the salad was beyond poor and poorly presented. We sat outside for half an hour without anyone even approaching us to ask if we wanted anything else. The waiters' friendliness also left a lot to be desired. Unfortunately, it was very disappointing, considering the place made such a good first impression.

Vreselijk ik bestelde een radler en kreeg bier met sprite ? Daarna bestelde ik een eertensoep en kreeg ik smurrie als soep wat er niet eens na smaakte bah bah nooit meer ga ik hier naartoe

Enjoyed a cappuccino and 🥕 cake after visiting the cathedral, including the 237 steps up to the tower with its amazing view and museum. Friendly service, reasonable prices, I enjoyed it. A lovely place to unwind and reflect on everything we've seen and heard. I'd love to go back! Our second visit at coffee time was also very delicious. So it was a pleasure to be able to stop by for dinner. It was a wonderful meal. Very attentive and competent service with a heartfelt welcome. Thank you very much! I highly recommend it!

Unfortunately not all that positive. Beautiful location but otherwise not successful. Mind you, please try it yourself and I may be wrong. Only 6 people serving and still being busy with 8 tables occupied, well. Soup with oil, not my thing. Rump steak paper thin and I doubt it was rump steak. Adding sauce also failed. Tried two red wines, didn't like either. Even the rhubarb mousse didn't appeal to me. Unfortunately. Again, it could of course just be me. Go experience it yourself.

We received the lunch menu at 3:10 PM and wanted to order, but were told that everything was gone, while lunch is until 4:00 PM. We were able to order from the more expensive menu. We didn't feel welcome.

Hugo & Notte offers a high-quality, smaller menu with selected menu options. The food tasted good in most cases, although the portions were completely unacceptable for the prices. If every bite costs 3 euros, it must be the best thing you can eat - but it's not. The service was at least friendly.

Really great restaurant, very nice and courteous service staff and the food was very, very tasty. Also the cocktails. Great ambience, great location and we had a candlelight dinner in the French cathedral afterwards, perfect place to get there. Just 1 minute away. Phenomenal. Absolutely recommended.

The food is excellent, but the service is, unfortunately, absolutely unacceptable! My mother-in-law reserved a table for 11 people weeks ago to celebrate her 70th birthday with us. When we arrived, we were seated at separate tables and told that it wasn't possible to put the tables together. After the birthday girl was close to tears after a long discussion, the waitress finally had a change of heart and began to somehow put the individual tables together... Unfortunately, friendliness and a sense of service were lacking throughout our entire stay. We also observed other guests sitting outside who were simply ignored. It's a shame, because the ambiance in the restaurant is otherwise appealing and the food was truly of excellent quality.

We had a lovely visit. We were a little surprised that it was so empty. It's definitely not the food. The food completely convinced us. The portions were enough for us. The waitress seemed quite inexperienced to us, but was friendly. It smelled a bit unusual and the restaurant should check it as others seemed to notice it as well. Overall we were happy with the visit.

A great restaurant with a really nice ambience – perfect for a cozy evening! I particularly recommend the braised ox cheeks, which were tender, juicy and full of flavour. My partner's dish, the “Coq au Vin Rouge” with black-feathered chicken, was unfortunately a bit disappointing. He had hoped for more taste for the price. There is also a minus point for the portion size, which was a bit too small.

Not really recommended for a cozy evening with friends. It is very loud and unfortunately pleasant conversation is not possible.

Food was ok, the bacon and onion tart was over salted, but the main thing to note is the very limited menu - for lunch I was expecting a lot more, there are only a few options. Nice location and old building. Service is efficient but I wouldn’t say friendly.

The fish tastes fresh. However, the restaurant has a faint smell of disinfectant.

There were 6 of us and we ordered the best of goose (goose leg) 4 times and the beef fillet twice. The goose legs were not fully cooked and the meat was very difficult to remove. The beef fillets were almost raw instead of medium rare. When we complained, the waitress said, yes, the chef wasn't sure whether the food was good...we had everything returned. The goose legs were then good. The beef fillets were then burned on one side and turned into shoe soles... honestly, that was the first and last time, just outrageous at these prices!

No more than average, there is no justification for the prices.

The restaurant is located at the basement of French Cathedral. We went for a weekend lunch and it was easy to grab a table for two without reservation. For food we tried : Onion soup : did not like it Duroc pork with vegetables and Duck with red cabbage and potato dumplings : We liked both the main courses Creme brulee : portion size was a joke for the price. I never has a smaller bowl of creme brulee here in europe , specially when priced like a full sized dessert. I wanted my main dish without alcohol , to which only salmon and vegetarian dishes were available, so definitely the menu lacks variation and all the meat dishes from Coq au vin to duroc pock , beef fillet and the duck were served with the same brown sauce cooked with the wine. And definitely not customizable. The service was very attentive , we were served complimenatary bread with a dip with the drinks, but took more than 40 minutes to serve the food. Also there was a billing mistake later. However the staff was nice and friendly and quickly corrected it.

Nice French restaurant, with really good food at a low price. Two people, main course with glass of wine, bottle of water, 2 espressos and 2 desserts 91 euros. Bargain for Berlin. Location a bit difficult to find. We were only in the other cathedral. Spoiler, it's not there. The best thing about the entire restaurant is the apple crumble. Incredibly good. That's the only reason I'm going there.

We took the beef filet and it was very well cooked. Carefully though if you don't like anis, seems they have put some in the pepper sauce, which was not specified on the menu

Food was very good (as an information for the people who order the salmon, it is not very well done, but that is precisely why it is very juicy) The ambience is also good, we only felt unwelcome when we were greeted, but it got better at the end.

Nicely done in the French cathedral. Food average for the price. Portions rather small. Service is partly very good. Some were extremely disinterested and didn't say thank you when paying, despite the tip. And we have experienced this several times these days. You are also not greeted when you come and you are not said goodbye when you leave - you are looked at - nothing more. Not recommended due to the staff

After an informative visit to the Hugonot Museum and climbing 220 steps of the French Cathedral, which offers a wonderful view of the city, we had a bit of an appetite. There was a delicious offering in the restaurant in the building. The menu was great, in quantity, quality and price. Thanks to the team and especially the kitchen.

The atmosphere is wonderful, and the food is tasty. My husband got the beef filet, he sent it back to have it cooked more, but it came back perfectly medium. I had the trout with lemon risotto. The mojito was refreshing and not overly sweet. We finished the evening with a slice of lemon tart with nice crunchy meringue. I would definitely recommend eating here. It’s a bit out of the way with construction in Gendarmarkt, but worth looking for

It's a bit cluttered right now due to construction nearby, but the outdoor space inside the museum is spacious and quiet, so I think it'll be nice after construction ends. The food is so delicious.

The two of us ate here on a Wednesday evening. To our surprise, we were the only guests. The staff was very friendly and very competent. As two introverted people, we felt we were in good hands. There was hardly anything wrong with the food. The entrecôte could use a little less pepper. My wife had the sea bream fish. The portion was a bit too large for her. The pearl barley alone could fill you up. Overall it's worth the five stars and a guaranteed recommendation. Thank you.

We had a lovely evening here. What was a bit strange was that the restaurant was quite empty on a Friday evening. But the food was good and the staff was very friendly! Creme Brulee was delicious, but cold - so not freshly made? I know it differently.

After work we spontaneously decided on Hugo&Note. To be honest, I didn't expect much given the location and was more than pleasantly surprised. No tourist trap: attentive, very friendly staff and good food in good portion sizes. We are happy to recommend the restaurant.

It's been a while since our visit - Whitsunday - and I've been thinking for a long time about whether I should give myself a review. Well then, maybe it will help others (future guests). Maybe the sentence is enough - the bread was good. In short, just two dishes. The Coq au Vin, which had already been mentioned by other guests, was almost an outrage. It's not the first Coq au Vin I've had, but I've never come across anything like it. A dry chicken leg in an indefinable sauce. The asparagus salad, simply raw. Maybe it's healthy, but it's not tasty. The whole thing was rounded off by staff who “folded up the sidewalks” well before 10 p.m. and basically asked you to leave. It's a shame - the bland aftertaste of Tourifalle remains. In any case, I am convinced that guests from Switzerland and southern Germany (like us) will be disappointed. We know it differently and we are happy to pay a corresponding price for good food. I know from many stays in Berlin that things are definitely much better there.

The food is simply great. The 3-course menu is always great and always something special. It's really nice to sit there and you immediately feel at home. The service is attentive and very friendly. We always like to come back.

The tables are not too crowded, which is very pleasant. The staff is friendly and helpful, but not quite fit yet. The veal meatballs and the corn poularde were very good for the price. Unfortunately, I have to say that the veal schnitzel was a little too dry and there were far too few cranberries for the amount of meat. The lukewarm potato salad with cucumber was excellent. A little salad or vegetables would have rounded off the dish perfectly. The red wine bottles are probably stored upright because the cork unfortunately crumbled. The waiter tried his best to hide it.

We each had the delicious risotto with asparagus and wild garlic pesto (vegan and vegetarian) and a piece of Mousse Au Chocolate cake, very chocolaty 😍 There was also a bit of bread and butter at the beginning. The staff was very friendly and accommodating, all in all a lovely evening.
