The location is superb, close to the Messe/Deutz exhibition center and a small shopping street. The vouchers are also great if you opt out of daily room cleaning. Please offer more vegan options at breakfast or advertise it better, e.g., vegan bread?

We stayed there for a weekend during Gamescom. The location was within easy walking distance of the exhibition center. The room was clean. The breakfast was delicious and varied.

A solid hotel in good condition. The dining room has a very unique design. The fitness area is part of the sauna area and consists of two machines. It's quiet, and the nearest bus stop is within easy walking distance. If you skip the cleaning service, you get a €5 voucher per night.

This was our first time in Cologne and we booked a room for three people. It was very easy to reach by train, and parking was available in the underground garage upon request. The room was simply excellent; nothing to complain about. It was also very nice to have a sauna in the hotel. The only thing I didn't like was that the breakfast didn't quite meet my expectations, based on all the reviews. It was certainly good and sufficient, but something was missing. For example, a bit of variety in the hot dishes. I would still go there again or book the hotel for a stopover.

Top hotel in a historic building (former swimming pool), close to the city center and directly across from the Lanxess Arena. Everything is very modern and clean, with friendly service and a very good, extensive breakfast buffet.

We stayed one night at the Hotel Stadtpalais in Cologne as a family of four and were pleasantly surprised by the size of the room. There was plenty of space for the whole family, with a large and comfortable double bed for the adults, as well as a sofa bed for the children. Although the sofa bed worked well, it could have been a little bigger - our children are 10 and 13 years old, and it was a bit cramped. The room was clean and tidy, and small details like free water bottles and chocolates on the bed made an impression. It gave a feeling of hospitality and thoughtfulness. Parking is under the hotel and costs 22 Euros extra, but the car was safe and secure, with easy access to the hotel from the garage. The breakfast was good with a varied selection, and the fact that it was served in a former swimming pool was a fun detail. All in all, a very good hotel stay - especially suitable for families with children who want comfort and spaciousness in the middle of the city.

Nice hotel. Ideal location for visiting the Lanxess Arena. Unfortunately, the beds are a bit soft, and the pillows aren't great either. The breakfast room, located in the former swimming pool, is visually very interesting and well-integrated. The breakfast is good. Unfortunately, the shower in our bathroom had a side cover that was too short, so the very small bathroom quickly flooded, even though we were very careful. There was little storage space in the bathroom, and there was no kettle in the room.

The breakfast and location were excellent, and the staff were very friendly and courteous. The hotel is on a busy street, but the room was well soundproofed. I highly recommend it.

I stayed at the Hotel Stadtpalais in Cologne for three nights in February 2025. Overall, the hotel makes a well-maintained and professionally run impression—ideal for a short business stay or a visit to the Lanxess Arena.

We really loved staying at this hotel. The lobby and restaurant was very uniquely decorated. The breakfast was excellent! All of the staff was very nice and welcoming.

I'm not giving the service 0 stars because it's impossible. It turns out we arrived on June 3 at 9:00 PM and were told we had to leave the hotel by 8:00 AM at the latest the next day because they were going to deactivate some WWII bombs. This is the first piece of news we've had. We were going to a chemistry fair that opened at 9:00 AM. Well, no problem, we arrived at the fair an hour early. The fair ended at 5:00 PM and we still couldn't get into the hotel. It started raining, and we were wandering around the streets. We called the hotel, and they told us it wasn't their problem, that they had given us advance notice. We told them they should have given us advance notice, not at check-in, that this hotel was within the evacuation radius. It was up to us to decide whether to change to one outside the hotel or take our chances. Well, we can now access the hotel at 8:00 PM, and the rooms are unmade, although the cleaners were there at 7:00 AM, and there are signs that they entered the rooms. They also don't offer dinner service, and the breakfast for gluten-intolerant people consists of two slices of gluten-free Bimbo bread... a 4-star hotel that charges a fortune (250 euros a night) and whose service and customer service exceed the 4 stars.

An old-style hotel, but renovated in the former bathhouse – the bathhouse still serves as the breakfast room today. Friendly reception, functionally OK room, small bathroom with a bathtub. Limited storage space for longer stays. Mattress a bit too soft, not ideal on the street side due to noise. Fantastic breakfast, very well-stocked. Large selection of open teas with decent dishes and inserts. Good salmon, tasty roast beef. Pastries very good. Didn't try the coffee in the breakfast room; the one in the lobby the day before was undrinkable. The stadium is across the street, ideal for such occasions.

We were in Cologne for a concert. The location was great, opposite the Lanxess Arena, and the room was quiet. It was also close to the city center and the nearest public transport stops. Helpful staff. The room was clean and modern. A great sustainability concept. It's also ideal for a city trip. We would come again.

Perfect for a concert at the Lanxess Arena

I booked the hotel because of its excellent location. The Arena is about 50 meters away. The Rhine is about a 15-minute walk away. Parking is available on Eitorfer Strasse, 50 meters away. Five euros for 24 hours! I had the single room 414 on the 4th floor. Very clean and bright. Good bathroom with a walk-in glass shower. The bed had an above-average mattress. The only downside to the room is that it heats up quickly. Unfortunately, the air conditioning then has to be on. I can't comment on the breakfast. If you're in Cologne, then the Hotel Stadtpalais! Thanks to the great team.

Super nice hotel and perfect for a concert (Billie Eilish) at the LanXess Arena - perfect combination, also not too far from the city center.

The hotel is located directly across from the arena, making it easy and convenient to get there. The hotel has many interesting details, and the building's history is lovingly incorporated. The breakfast room—the old swimming pool—is a must-see. The breakfast is sensational. A large selection, with everything your heart desires. The staff was very friendly. The bar guys were literally stunned on Friday evening and were super quick and cheerful. They seemed to really enjoy their job. The room was quite spacious. We had a corner room, which had lots of windows and was therefore very bright. We really enjoyed our stay. The bed was very (!) comfortable. A little more counter space in the bathroom would have been great, and I recommend earplugs, as it's quite noisy.

Everything about our stay was fine, but the location truly exceeded my expectations! 🤩 I didn’t realize it would be so close to the concert venue, which made a huge difference. The perfect hotel for the arena. We went to see Incubus (30/04/2025). From the end of the gig to the hotel room, with a stop at reception for a bottle of water, it took just 8 minutes! Amazingly convenient. The staff were lovely. One star lost due to low power air conditioning and limited vegan breakfast options.

Was here for the Chase Atlantic concert- PERFECT location since it was right across from the arena and I didn't have to worry about walking through Köln at night, which as a solo traveling 20± yo woman was beyond fantastic ~ ♡ Staff was really nice and accommodating + breakfast was top. Good variety. All in all, for the price I payed, location and staff i would definitely recommend again and come here for the next concert im attending thats at the Lanxes Arena

We stayed there for two nights to watch the Carolin Kebekus show at the Lanxess Arena. We probably had the shortest route, just walking across the street. That's it. We would book again at any time. The beds are comfortable, there is a topper and the windows can be opened. Can you park your car on the street, a day ticket costs five euros, or in your own underground car park? The hotel surprised us with its historical past. Once upon a time there was a bathing establishment and the 19th century. The breakfast room is particularly nice. The former swimming pool was converted into a breakfast room. What the architect has done there is truly a masterpiece. It's beautiful. I was thrilled.

Great if you want to go to the Lanxess Arena. Directly opposite. You don't even need a jacket. Not cheap, but worth it. Parking garage €22 per day.

The hotel is very good, but the parking situation is a disaster. Highly recommended without a car. If you have a car, you won't find a parking space in the evenings during the trade fair.

we were not hotel guests, but we arrived at the arena for the Pitbull concert. We arrived from Hungary and had been traveling all day, so their kindness was very appreciated. They helped us put our coats away, so we could enjoy the concert almost from the front row. However, we would like to thank the two receptionists for their kindness (02.25 in the afternoon) and wish them all the best🫶🏼

An outstanding hotel in Cologne! My stay at the Hotel Stadtpalais was consistently positive. The successful combination of historic and modern architecture gives the hotel a unique charm. My room was spacious, very clean, and equipped with all the amenities you could wish for. I was particularly impressed by the extensive breakfast buffet, which left nothing to be desired. The hotel's location, directly opposite the LANXESS Arena and close to the city center, is ideal for attending concerts and exploring the city. The staff was always friendly and helpful, which made my stay even more pleasant. I highly recommend the Hotel Stadtpalais to anyone seeking comfort and excellent service in Cologne.

This is our second time visiting here. The hotel is in a great location if you are attending an event in the Lanxess Arena. But it is also ideal for a visit to Cologne's old town; you can get anywhere you want to go super quickly using public transport. The staff is friendly, the rooms are nicely decorated and we had a great view of the arena on both stays. The breakfast is rich and it's nice to sit in the remodeled old swimming pool. Always a great address for us when we stay overnight in Cologne.

Rooms are high quality and the room noises are discreet (toilet flushing, ventilation, air conditioning) and the room layout is practical, everything is clean, modern. The entire hotel was stylishly built from the former public baths. The breakfast in the former swimming pool area leaves nothing to be desired. The bar with Alfred Biolek's famous guests. You can also quickly walk to the old town via the Deutz Bridge and a short walk past the Deutz Cathedral through the Deutz pedestrian zone, then along the Rhine Boulevard over the Hohenzollern Bridge you are quickly at the Cologne Cathedral and also in the Cologne Old Town, Rhine Promenade. Everything is within walking distance. The Odysseum is also within walking distance of the hotel. Perfect all around. Here you immediately feel at home as soon as you enter the hotel.

I liked it a lot! Spacious rooms, wonderful breakfast and very pleasant staff. The sauna is small but has everything you need. The truth is that I recommend it 100%, the area is very quiet and in 5 minutes by metro or 25 minutes walking you are in the center.

Unfortunately poor and unprofessional impression of the service manager! We stayed here from Tuesday to Thursday over New Year's Eve. It was particularly important to us to have a little wellness in the new year (sauna) and therefore paid special attention to this when booking. When we wanted to use the sauna on New Year's Day, there was a note on the door saying it was closed due to a technical defect. This was of course very annoying for us! When I then asked the reception how that could be and we were very disappointed, we were fobbed off in a sloppy and unprofessional manner by the hotel manager! He said to us: "Yes, what?" What should I do now? Do you think we broke them specifically? That's how it is! What do you want from me now? A free drink at the bar, or what are you after? We're not a wellness hotel, we just have a broken sauna, that's it! That's just super cheeky and not customer-friendly! We will definitely see if we can get a mini refund of the price (over 600 euros). For us it wasn't about the money, it was about the way we were treated and the problem! We definitely won't be coming back and the hotel manager definitely needs some training in how to be friendly.

You’d be better off staying at a budget chain like Ibis than wasting your money on this pretentious, so-called “luxury” hotel. From the moment we arrived, it was clear this place was all style and no substance. The breakfast was a disaster—stale, old food that made us question how they could even dare call it “fresh.” The staff? Completely unhelpful and downright rude. The night front office manager was especially unpleasant, acting as though doing their job was a personal favor to us. Hospitality clearly doesn’t exist here. The facilities were another massive letdown. The sauna and spa, which were supposed to be highlights, were completely out of order, with no effort made to notify guests ahead of time. And let’s talk about the location: there’s absolutely nothing to do nearby. If you want to have any fun, you’ll need to spend extra time and money traveling across the city. This hotel is an overpriced, wannabe luxury experience that fails on every front. Save yourself the headache and avoid this place at all costs. 0/10, I wouldn’t recommend this dump to my worst enemy.

The best hotel, deserves 5 stars, 25min walk to the shopping street

Our first stay in the beautiful city palace, but certainly not our last! We have already booked our room for next year. As part of the Night of the Proms event in the Lanxess Arena, we tried another hotel in the surrounding area - and didn't regret it. The building, the furnishings, the whole ambience are really great. The room was very nice and had everything you needed and was very quiet. Nice bathroom with shower, good beds, what more could you want? We had both dinner and breakfast in the great restaurant KWB in the former Kaiser Wilhelm Bad, really beautiful. The food was very good both times and really tasty. The breakfast was very rich: egg dishes, salmon, sausage, cheese, cereal bar, rolls and butter croissants. Plus juices, water, coffee, tea and much more. The dinner menu also offered various game dishes, very nice. Both times the service was very good: very friendly and attentive. We also sat at “Bios Bar” twice, where the selection of drinks was also large and good. The staff there was also very nice and quick, even when it got busier. We were lucky enough to get a space in the hotel's own underground car park. This costs extra, but unfortunately cannot be reserved. Otherwise you would have had to drive into a parking garage near the Lanxess Arena. We fell in love with the great hotel straight away, the price-performance ratio is absolutely right. And it rounds off the event perfectly and makes it a very nice short vacation.

The hotel's architecture is absolutely unique and absolutely worth seeing. Service and offerings are excellent. The immediate proximity to the Lanxess Arena is simply brilliant.

We visited the bar. Friendly and courteous service. The food was very good, the drinks....Kölsch is Kölsch:-) but my wife's cocktail could have used a little more alcohol. The short tour of the hotel and restaurant was very nice, a location that you can definitely miss. Unfortunately we weren't able to visit the rooms.

Great owner-run hotel opposite the Kölnarena. Both trade fair guests and weekend vacationers will find great accommodation here. The hotel is characterized by very friendly staff, delicious food and very good connections to all infrastructure.

perfect hotel for events in the Lanxess Arena! We were in the hotel room quicker than we could have gotten to the car! The rooms are nicely and cleanly furnished. The welcome was very friendly and the breakfast definitely deserves a special mention! A great selection, everything was very tasty and there was also a good selection for dietary requirements (gluten, vegan, ...). I would choose the hotel again at any time when I'm in town!

Very nice hotel, location to the arena is fantastic. Just cross the street and you're there. We walked in a relaxed manner for a good 25 minutes to Cologne city center. The rooms are very nice, the staff was very, very friendly. Greetings also to the 2 guys from the bar, Kölsch and Weizen worked great. 😁 Would book again immediately. Nice hotel directly opposite the arena.

We booked the hotel because of a concert in the arena. Great location, even with a parking space in the underground car park, the journey is relaxed. The room was clean and tidy, but I think it was a bit smelly. I would have liked drinks to be in the minibar and not available to purchase at reception. Not all of the staff were nice, but most of them were. Breakfast was ok, only the rolls were rock hard, as was the bacon. Basically complaining at a high level. A bit expensive for one night but the location makes up for it. We would still come again and recommend it.

Nightmare. The AC is not working. The room has no air ventilation. If we open the windows the noise of the cars don't let us sleep. Now, I ask for another room for the guy in the reception. He says he's got not other rooms, just better rooms and he wants me to pay for it!!! Unbelivable. I am booking one hotel everyday for my family on a road trip and had no other issue until now.
