Hotel Stadtpalais in Köln

This is our second time visiting here. The hotel is in a great location if you are attending an event in the Lanxess Arena. But it is also ideal for a visit to Cologne's old town; you can get anywhere you want to go super quickly using public transport. The staff is friendly, the rooms are nicely decorated and we had a great view of the arena on both stays. The breakfast is rich and it's nice to sit in the remodeled old swimming pool. Always a great address for us when we stay overnight in Cologne.

Everything fine. Service top. Friendliness of the staff was great. Room great. Breakfast is great and varied - there is something for everyone, even vegan options are offered. For us the best accommodation if we want to spend the night in the arena after an event.

Rooms are high quality and the room noises are discreet (toilet flushing, ventilation, air conditioning) and the room layout is practical, everything is clean, modern. The entire hotel was stylishly built from the former public baths. The breakfast in the former swimming pool area leaves nothing to be desired. The bar with Alfred Biolek's famous guests. You can also quickly walk to the old town via the Deutz Bridge and a short walk past the Deutz Cathedral through the Deutz pedestrian zone, then along the Rhine Boulevard over the Hohenzollern Bridge you are quickly at the Cologne Cathedral and also in the Cologne Old Town, Rhine Promenade. Everything is within walking distance. The Odysseum is also within walking distance of the hotel. Perfect all around. Here you immediately feel at home as soon as you enter the hotel.

I liked it a lot! Spacious rooms, wonderful breakfast and very pleasant staff. The sauna is small but has everything you need. The truth is that I recommend it 100%, the area is very quiet and in 5 minutes by metro or 25 minutes walking you are in the center.

Nice, quiet location, 20 minutes walk to the Heumarkt, shop mile is just around the corner, the breakfast is really a lot, you don't know where to start first...

Unfortunately poor and unprofessional impression of the service manager! We stayed here from Tuesday to Thursday over New Year's Eve. It was particularly important to us to have a little wellness in the new year (sauna) and therefore paid special attention to this when booking. When we wanted to use the sauna on New Year's Day, there was a note on the door saying it was closed due to a technical defect. This was of course very annoying for us! When I then asked the reception how that could be and we were very disappointed, we were fobbed off in a sloppy and unprofessional manner by the hotel manager! He said to us: "Yes, what?" What should I do now? Do you think we broke them specifically? That's how it is! What do you want from me now? A free drink at the bar, or what are you after? We're not a wellness hotel, we just have a broken sauna, that's it! That's just super cheeky and not customer-friendly! We will definitely see if we can get a mini refund of the price (over 600 euros). For us it wasn't about the money, it was about the way we were treated and the problem! We definitely won't be coming back and the hotel manager definitely needs some training in how to be friendly.

You’d be better off staying at a budget chain like Ibis than wasting your money on this pretentious, so-called “luxury” hotel. From the moment we arrived, it was clear this place was all style and no substance. The breakfast was a disaster—stale, old food that made us question how they could even dare call it “fresh.” The staff? Completely unhelpful and downright rude. The night front office manager was especially unpleasant, acting as though doing their job was a personal favor to us. Hospitality clearly doesn’t exist here. The facilities were another massive letdown. The sauna and spa, which were supposed to be highlights, were completely out of order, with no effort made to notify guests ahead of time. And let’s talk about the location: there’s absolutely nothing to do nearby. If you want to have any fun, you’ll need to spend extra time and money traveling across the city. This hotel is an overpriced, wannabe luxury experience that fails on every front. Save yourself the headache and avoid this place at all costs. 0/10, I wouldn’t recommend this dump to my worst enemy.

The best hotel, deserves 5 stars, 25min walk to the shopping street

Our first stay in the beautiful city palace, but certainly not our last! We have already booked our room for next year. As part of the Night of the Proms event in the Lanxess Arena, we tried another hotel in the surrounding area - and didn't regret it. The building, the furnishings, the whole ambience are really great. The room was very nice and had everything you needed and was very quiet. Nice bathroom with shower, good beds, what more could you want? We had both dinner and breakfast in the great restaurant KWB in the former Kaiser Wilhelm Bad, really beautiful. The food was very good both times and really tasty. The breakfast was very rich: egg dishes, salmon, sausage, cheese, cereal bar, rolls and butter croissants. Plus juices, water, coffee, tea and much more. The dinner menu also offered various game dishes, very nice. Both times the service was very good: very friendly and attentive. We also sat at “Bios Bar” twice, where the selection of drinks was also large and good. The staff there was also very nice and quick, even when it got busier. We were lucky enough to get a space in the hotel's own underground car park. This costs extra, but unfortunately cannot be reserved. Otherwise you would have had to drive into a parking garage near the Lanxess Arena. We fell in love with the great hotel straight away, the price-performance ratio is absolutely right. And it rounds off the event perfectly and makes it a very nice short vacation.

We visited the bar. Friendly and courteous service. The food was very good, the drinks....Kölsch is Kölsch:-) but my wife's cocktail could have used a little more alcohol. The short tour of the hotel and restaurant was very nice, a location that you can definitely miss. Unfortunately we weren't able to visit the rooms.

The hotel's architecture is absolutely unique and absolutely worth seeing. Service and offerings are excellent. The immediate proximity to the Lanxess Arena is simply brilliant.

Great owner-run hotel opposite the Kölnarena. Both trade fair guests and weekend vacationers will find great accommodation here. The hotel is characterized by very friendly staff, delicious food and very good connections to all infrastructure.

perfect hotel for events in the Lanxess Arena! We were in the hotel room quicker than we could have gotten to the car! The rooms are nicely and cleanly furnished. The welcome was very friendly and the breakfast definitely deserves a special mention! A great selection, everything was very tasty and there was also a good selection for dietary requirements (gluten, vegan, ...). I would choose the hotel again at any time when I'm in town!

Very nice hotel, location to the arena is fantastic. Just cross the street and you're there. We walked in a relaxed manner for a good 25 minutes to Cologne city center. The rooms are very nice, the staff was very, very friendly. Greetings also to the 2 guys from the bar, Kölsch and Weizen worked great. 😁 Would book again immediately. The breakfast was great and there was something for everyone. Gladly again!!! Thank you very much.

Nice hotel directly opposite the arena.

We booked the hotel because of a concert in the arena. Great location, even with a parking space in the underground car park, the journey is relaxed. The room was clean and tidy, but I think it was a bit smelly. I would have liked drinks to be in the minibar and not available to purchase at reception. Not all of the staff were nice, but most of them were. Breakfast was ok, only the rolls were rock hard, as was the bacon. Basically complaining at a high level. A bit expensive for one night but the location makes up for it. We would still come again and recommend it.

If you want to go to lanxess arena this hotel is the best option that you have.

Nightmare. The AC is not working. The room has no air ventilation. If we open the windows the noise of the cars don't let us sleep. Now, I ask for another room for the guy in the reception. He says he's got not other rooms, just better rooms and he wants me to pay for it!!! Unbelivable. I am booking one hotel everyday for my family on a road trip and had no other issue until now.

Clean, pleasant atmosphere, gladly again. The only real flaw was the shower/bathtub construction, which can only be climbed via one step. (Room 317)

The location is excellent. We were in Cologne for an event at the Lanxess Arena. The hotel is a bit old and decorated in very dark colors - you have to like it. The staff ranged from incredibly nice to very ignorant. Breakfast is certainly ok for those who eat everything. Not suitable for vegetarians/vegans at all. Here you should probably move with the times. There was nothing there except cucumber sticks. In summary: for 1-2 nights because you want to visit the arena, ok. Not recommended for a longer period of time.

A nice hotel, room was large and clean. Carpet always bothers me personally but it was clean. The bathroom is quite small and only has a bathtub in which you have to shower. Not bad, but just cramped and requires two large steps. The breakfast is rather so-so for a hotel in this price range. Location to the arena is great, of course there is noise, but the windows are very good, so you can't hear anything when the windows are closed. If you sleep with the windows open, you should ask whether there are rooms facing away from the street.

Beautiful hotel, very clean rooms, incredibly attentive and friendly staff. The breakfast was very rich, with everything your heart could desire (from bread and muesli to vegetable sticks, eggs and sweet pieces), and there was also an oat drink (perfect for me, a “non-dairy drinker”). The rooms are spacious and equipped with everything you need. I was there with a baby and there was even enough space in the room for the stroller. Access to the hotel is barrier-free; in the breakfast room it would have been tight at the buffet with a stroller (but that wasn't a problem with a sling).

Ideal place for a small conference in the middle of the city, quiet rooms, attentive service and beautiful, large and clean rooms. Breakfast and lunch were ok, but in a great atmosphere!

The location of the hotel is very good, convenient for access to Lanxess Arena. The dining room is magnificent. The parking lot does not have enough spaces. Félix at reception who could smile sometimes, and explain why there is a breakfast supplement instead of just telling us "Breakfast tax" which in itself means nothing.

Uniquely designed hotel, Art Nouveau and historicism go hand in hand, combined with many lovingly preserved or designed details. Service and food are good. The dining room, a former Art Nouveau bathing hall, was a hit. Good location next to the Lanxess Arena. It takes about 15-20 minutes to walk to the cathedral.

Accommodating 4 adults in a double room is borderline. Two people had to sleep on a pull-out sofa about 1.40m wide and that with four ☆☆☆☆. Not recommendable. 😒

Very nice hotel in an old converted and restored swimming pool. There was nothing to complain about in our room in terms of cleanliness and the condition of the furnishings. Only the safe in the room was broken and was not repaired during the stay despite being spoken to. The breakfast is very rich. You're basically sitting in the old swimming pool. You can even still see the diving board. Only the service in the breakfast room was a bit lost. Initially there were only two waitresses and given the number of guests, it took some time before you could order a coffee from her. Otherwise recommend without reservation. If you want to go to a concert at the LANXESS Arena, the hotel is the closest. You just have to cross the street and you'll be at the arena. It doesn't get any better.

Former Kaiser Wilhelm Bad built around 1910. The foyer still has the original tiles!!!! The swimming pool is also in its original condition and even has a diving board. In this former swimming pool you eat the fantastic breakfast from the sumptuous buffet. It leaves nothing to be desired, that's why we give it 5 stars 🌟 🌟 🌟 🌟 🌟. Very good location, about 15 minutes walk to Cologne Cathedral, everything was spotlessly clean and very well maintained. Sauna available, but not used by me due to lack of time. Very nice and courteous staff. We are coming again next year.

Sehr schönes und außergewöhnliche Location. Speisen im ehemaligen Schwimmwesten. Überall noch die schönen Kacheln und Ornamente des Bades vorhanden. Tiefgarage mit 22€ am Tag zu teuer. Frühstück sehr reichhaltig und auf Wunsch gibt es vegane Ergänzung. Gern wieder!

Sehr schicke und gute Unterkunft, insbesondere wenn man eine Veranstaltung im "Henkelmännchen" besucht. Wie schon von anderen erwähnt ist das Frühstück absolut zu empfehlen und sollte keinesfalls ausgelassen werden. Das Personal war in allen Bereichen sehr freundlich und hilfsbereit. Hier werden wir gerne noch einmal übernachten!

2 Nächte hier verbracht. Zimmer ausreichend mit allem was man benötigt. Frühstück als Buffet, gute Auswahl und reichlich. Leider kein Kaffee frisch aus dem Vollautomat, nur aus der Kanne. Personal nett und hilfsbereit. Sauna vorhanden, nicht genutzt. Ein Laufband und ein Rad im Saunabereich als Fitnessraum. Lanxess Arena direkt gegenüber, Fußweg über Deutzerbrücke bis Altstadt 15/20 Minuten.

Ein wirklich sehr schönes Hotel, modern eingerichtet, beeindruckender Eingang und Speisesaal, Zimmer hat beim Eintritt etwas gestunken (Abfluss) und wenige kleine Fliegen im Bad, Personal super freundlich, haben sogar extra für uns die Sauna angestellt, im Wellnessbereich gab es leider keine frischen Handtücher mehr, an der Rezeption gab es Bademäntel und Schlappen, wirklich top unter'm Strich

Etwas besonderes und tolles Ambiente

Ideal zum übernachten, wenn man zur Veranstaltung in der Lanxess Arena ist.

Sehr gutes Hotel in der Ñähe zur Lanxess-Arena, also optimal, um hier die Nacht nach einem Konzert zu verbringen. Ursprünglich handelte es sich bei diesem 1913 erbauten Gebäude um das Kaiser-Wilhelm-Bad für kaiserliche Kürassiere. Nach dem Zweiten Weltkrieg war der Bau stark beschädigt, diente aber dann bis 1996 weiterhin als Hallenbad. Dann baute man es zum Hotel um, eine wahrhaft grandiose Idee. Dort, wo einst gebadet wurde, wird heute gefrühstückt und gespeist. Gekachelte Wände auch im Empfangsbereich, alles altehrwürdig und wunderbar erhalten. Trotzdem wirkt das Ganze weder kalt noch ist die Akustik irgendwie unangenehm oder störend. Von Anbeginn spürt der Gast hier eine sehr angenehme, ja geradezu wohltuende Atmosphäre. Die Rezeption ist rund um die Uhr besetzt, der Service ist vorbildlich. Hier checkt man nicht ein, sondern wird freundlich aufgenommen. Die großen Zimmer sind komfortabel eingerichtet und lassen keinen Wunsch offen. In der ehemaligen Schwimmhalle erwartet einen morgens ein üppiges, hervorragendes Frühstück. Ein weiteres Highlight ist die Hotelbar, die sich nach Alfred Biolek "Bio's Bar" nennt, weil er diesen Ort zu seinem zweiten Wohnzimmer erkor. An den Wänden Bilder aus seiner langjährigen Fernsehkarriere und Vitrinen, in denen Goldene Kameras und ein Bambi zu sehen sind. Auf den Fotos: Bio unter anderem mit Sammy Davis Jr., Karl Lagerfeld und dem Dalai Lama. Erinnerungen an drei Jahrzehnte Fernsehgeschichte werden wachgerufen. Das Hotel Stadtpalais ist, das dürfte deutlich geworden sein, eine ganz außergewöhnliche Herberge, die man nur wärmstens empfehlen kann. Und das nicht nur, um hier eine Nacht nach einem Konzert zu verbringen...

Als wir beim Check In ankamen, stand dort ein Mitarbeiter, der es nicht für nötig hielt uns zu begrüßen. Wir begrüßten ihn und sagte er sehr unfreundlich Guten Tag. Der Mitarbeiter war sowas von lustlos und unfreundlich, das habe ich noch nicht erlebt. Als wir ins Zimmer kamen, stank es dort sehr muffig. Durch längeres Lüften wurde es leider nicht besser. Das Bad war in Ordnung. ansonsten war der Teppich im Zimmer eher alt und das Bett durchgelegen. Ich bin Hausstaubmilben Allergikerin und hyposensibilisiert und habe ich nur noch sehr selten Probleme. Doch hier war es so, dass ich nach zehn Minuten im Bett schon Husten musste und die Augen anfingen zu jucken. Für Allergiker auch nicht geeignet. Die Lage zur Lanxess Arena ist super.

Beste Lage für zum Eishockeyspiel ☺️☺️☺️

Wir hatten dieses Zimmer für eine Übernachtung nach einer Veranstaltung gebucht. Leider war es nicht möglich, das Zimmer umzubuchen auf einen anderen Termin oder kostenfrei zu stornieren, (wir waren gezwungen unser Kaninchen wegen Erkrankung mitzunehmen und das Hotel verbietet Haustiere). So mussten wir eine Alternative suchen, die wir auch gefunden haben, aber die 200€ sind natürlich als großer Verlust zu verbuchen. Würde aufgrund der Flexibilität und dem Entgegenkommen nicht mehr hier buchen. (Zimmer kann ich nicht bewerten, daher neutral 3 Sterne)

Richtig schönes Hotel mit besonderer (architektonischer) Atmosphäre abseits der Hotelketten. Die Zimmer sind wunderbar, das Personal freundlich und auch das Frühstücksbuffet ist top. Highlight ist das Restaurant im ehemaligen Schwimmbad, in dem auch das Frühstück serviert wird. Absolut fantastisch für Events in der Lanxess Arena, aber dank sehr guter ÖPNV-Anbindung auch für Geschäftsreisen oder Sightseeing-Trips. Ich freue mich auf meinen nächsten Aufenthalt!

Super Hotel, würde ich immer wieder buchen. Stimmte einfach alles.

Vorab gesagt: Das Hotel ist einigermaßen positiv zu bewerten. Der Standort direkt gegenüber der Lanxess-Arena ist natürlich von Wert für alle Eventbesucher.Davon lebt aber auch das Hotel. Wir waren ebenfalls im Rahmen eines Events dort abgestiegen und mussten zunächst leider feststellen, dass Bio's Bar, die etwa Platz für 30 Gäste maximal hat, völlig überlaufen war mit den Mitgliedern einer "Damengarde". Das gibt's auch wohl nur in Köln. Die Anzahl der Damen hat natürlich den Rahmen der Hotelbar gesprengt. Nun ja, es gibt Schlimmeres. Service, Zimmer und Frühstück im alten Schwimmbad bewerte ich positiv. Das ist eine glatte 3. Wir werden gerne wiederkommen. Aber eine Sache bewerte ich als richtig negativ: In unserem Zimmer gab es eine große Schiebetür aus Milchglas zum Badbereich. Maße ca. 2,5 x 2,5 m. Im Bad gibt es nur eine sehr helle LED-Deckenlampe, die man beim Betreten einschalten kann. Die Glasschiebetür ist in Richtung der Betten eingebaut. Geht nun einer der Bewohner nachts in den Bereich, steht der andere sofort senkrecht im Bett, weil es im gesamten Zimmer schlagartig taghell ist. Wer plant denn sowas? Der Planer muss ein echter Single sein . Sorry, das geht überhaupt nicht. Man hat null Chance, dezent zum WC zu gehen. Das ist solch ein NoGo, dass ich nur 3 Sterne statt 4 Sterne gebe, mit denen das Hotel wirbt. Unterstützt wird das Ganze durch das Nichtvorhandensein einer Minibar, den blöden Öffnungszeiten der Sauna (warum erst ab 18 Uhr? Zu der Zeit gibt es andere Dinge zu tun) und der GEMA-freien Fahrstuhlmusik in der Bar mit Visualisierung über einen 4-geteilten Bildschirm über dem Tresen. Nervtötendes Tralala. Unerträglich und gruselig Das Personal ist allerdings sehr freundlich und serviceorientiert. Insbesondere im Frühstücksbereich.

Leider für mich das unkulanteste Hotel das ich je gebucht habe. Ich buchte das Zimmer für eine Nacht mit 2 Kindern, weil die Lage des Hotels sehr nah an der Lanxess Arena ist. Konzert wurde abgesagt & ich bat um eine Verschiebung des Datums. Würden Sie nicht machen… jetzt zahle ich 200€ für ein Zimmer das ich nicht nutzen kann. Bin sehr enttäuscht. Noch nie sowas erlebt. Nein danke!

Hotel mit einer außerordentlichen Geschichte. Sehr tolle Details und schöne Umsetzung vom Schwimmbad zum Hotel! Wer kann schon von sich behaupten schon mal in einem Schwimmbecken gefrühstückt zu haben!! Bio's Bar lädt zum Absacker am Abend ein. Perfekte Lage wenn man zu einer Veranstaltung in die Lanxess Arena möchte! Freundliches Personal, Preise ok, Frühstück sehr gut!

Sehr schönes Stadthotel, gegenüber der Lanxess Arena. Zimmer groß und sauber. Leider tropfte der Abfluss des Handwaschbeckens. (Daraufhin wurde mir sofort ein anderes Zimmer angeboten, was ich ablehnte, da ich nur eine Nacht im Hotel verbrachte... Service super!). Frühstück im ehemaligen Deuzer Schwimmbad, hat alles, was man zum Frühstück braucht, entspricht einem 4 Sterne Haus. Leider war der Spritzkuchen alt, ich habe ihn liegen lassen... Gesamt daher 4 Sterne

I just visited this hotel but I did not stayed their, they cannot comment about rooms , but over all the location is amazing and the staff are friendly, the restaurant is unique and different.

Das Hotel war ursprünglich das alte Badehaus, das seinen Charme im Eingangsbereich mit den schönen Alten Kacheln erhalten hat. Alles sehr Geschmackvoll gestaltet und eingerichtet. Der Essenssaal selber ist das alte umgestaltete Schwimmbad. Das Personal am Empfang und im Service ist freundlich und hilfsbereit. Das Zimmer lag nach hinten raus, was sich als sinnvoll erwies, da man mit offenen Fenster schlafen konnte. Das Frühstücksbuffett lässt wirklich keinerlei Wünsche offen. In der BIOS Bar kann mann abends noch einen Absacker an der Theke genießen. Parkplätze stehen in der Seitenstraße für 5,-€ pro Tag zur Verfügung. Tiefgarage 22,-€ pro Tag. Das Hotel würde ich wieder buchen

Sehr gutes Hotel in Köln Deutz mit beeindruckendem Ambiente. BIO'S BAR ist gut bestückt und ein Absacker geht hier immer. Extrem cooler Frühstückssaal für den Morgen danach...klarer Tipp!

Das Hotel kann schön sein, leider kann ich zum gebuchten Zeitraum nicht anreisen und das Hotel verweigert mir mein Anreisedatum zu ändern.. Bezahlen darf ich aber. So nett von Euch...

Ein sehr schönes Hotel, direkt vor der Lanxess Arena gelegen. Gemütliche, komfortable, geräumige Zimmer. Sehr schönes Bad mit großer Dusche. Und ein wirklich überragendes Frühstücksbüffet. In diesem Hotel waren wir schon öfters und werden auch wiederkommen.

Super tolles Hotel mit einem sehr gemütlichen und doch edlen Ambiente.Das Personal war echt über freundlich und ist auf wirklich alle Wünsche eingegangen.So macht Hotel leben Spaß Immer wieder gerne und nur zu empfehlen. Danke an das gesamte Team vom Stadtpalais

Hotel liegt gegenüber von der Lanxess Arena, Parkgarage ist vorhanden. Zimmer sind sehr schön und sauber gewesen, Frühstücksbuffet ist sehr reichhaltig gewesen.
