Hotel Restaurant Zum Berggarten in Kassel

Ich bekomme bald Besuch aus Belgien und diese Person kann in dieser Woche nicht bei mir bleiben, also wollte er ein Hotel buchen. Er hat online eine Anfrage geschickt und einen Tag darauf bekam er eine Nachricht, dass er doch bitte mal anrufen solle. Dadurch dass er aus einen anderen Land herkommt, kann er kein Deutsch und hat dadurch beim Anruf auf Englisch geredet und gesagt dass er kein Deutsch kann. Daraufhin kam nur IN PERFEKTEM ENGLISCH und total unfreundlich "Kein Englisch, das hier ist Deutschland!". Genau für so etwas sind Hotels, damit Menschen von weiter weg einen Ort haben, an dem sie im Urlaub bleiben können und vor allem in einer großen Stadt wie Kassel, sollte man damit rechnen, dass eben nicht 100% der Anfragen von Deutschen sind. Selbst wenn doch, dann kann man auch freundlicher erklären, dass die Mitarbeiter nicht gut Englisch können (auch wenn man in der Schule für gewöhnlich 7 Jahre lang Englisch lernt) und können FREUNDLICH erklären, dass dies wohl nicht das passende Hotel ist. Einfach nur unfreundlich. Dadurch, dass ich hier mehrere Bewertungen sehe, dass die Angestellten/der Eigentümer unfreundlich sind, schätze ich, dass sie hier auch verurteilt werden, wenn sie nicht perfektes Deutsch können oder einen Migrationshintergrung haben.

Zimmer war sauber, hat allerdings etwas komisch gerochen. Standort okey, leider nicht ausreichend Parkplätze vorhanden. Straßenbahn 3m vor dem Haus bringt das Bett zum Wackeln. Service lässt stark zu wünschen übrig.

Zimmer klein, aber sauber, lediglich der Geruch war störend (es hat gestunken, eventuell hängt die Lüftung an der des Asia-Restaurants) Personal an der Rezeption war verspätet (nur 16-22 Uhr geöffnet) und (als ich meinen Perso nicht aus der Hand geben wollte, den er unbedingt sehen musste) stinkig. z.B. hat er (obwohl von dem buchenden Unternehmen eine Kostenübernahme da war) noch in meinem Beisein die angegebene Kreditkarte belastet. Frühstück gibts keins, das nebenan gelegene Sushi-Restaurant ist aber klasse. Fenster zu lassen, Verkehr und Strassenbahn ist laut!

The room was small but clean. Unfortunately, it was located in the basement, with the window at sidewalk level, so the blinds and window had to be kept closed at all times. Wi-Fi was not available in the room. The tram runs practically right through the room. Conversations in the next room could easily be overheard.

We booked the hotel as a group to eat together in the restaurant every evening. To our disappointment, the restaurant was closed for renovations, which wasn't mentioned on the website. The rooms were mostly clean, apart from a few spiders and screws sticking out of the wall. The Wi-Fi didn't work initially, but the reception promptly fixed it. Room service was inconsistent; one day the bed was made, the next it wasn't. The tram was incredibly loud and in some places passed so close to the room that it felt like it was going right through it. The walls were also thin, so you could hear every word your neighbor said when they were on the phone. At €50 a night, I wouldn't have complained, but at over €100 a night, the condition of the rooms is unacceptable. I wouldn't recommend it.

This isn't a hotel, but a restaurant that also offers a few simple guest rooms. The owners are friendly but clearly overwhelmed. The "reception" is only staffed at certain times, and these are unpredictable. Wi-Fi is OK on the ground floor but weak and slow in the rooms. The rooms are neat, modern, and clean, but very small. You have to find your own breakfast (recommendation: Amthor on the main road below). Overall: if you absolutely have to stay on a budget, you can stay here.

Back after a year!! As expected, I was given a very warm welcome. The manager even bought me dinner. Unique!!!!

Unfortunately, very disappointing. Based on the good Google reviews, we decided to spend our hiking holiday in Kassel at the Hotel zur Berggarten. Positive: The room was sufficiently clean, and daily housekeeping was offered. Addition: The view from the terrace is also very nice and offers a beautiful view of the city. Negative: Unfortunately, we noticed a few shortcomings upon arrival. The furnishings are quite dated but adequate. The shower has a wonderful rain shower, but the shower lip was missing, and within a very short time, the small bathroom flooded. The owner tried to fix this, but the new shower lip unfortunately still didn't stop the shower from leaking. The hotel doesn't have any parking spaces, and guests are encouraged to park on the side of the road. The walls are very thin, and since the hotel is located directly next to the street, the tram, and a church, it was impossible to sleep in room 20. The slamming of doors in other rooms was also clearly audible. Wi-Fi was rather poor, with only one bar at most. Another unfortunately negative aspect was the food selection in the restaurant. As a vegetarian, you have only one option – vegetable noodles. More than half of the drinks/beers offered on the menu were also unavailable. After the second night, we decided to leave a day early due to very poor sleep. Although we left within checkout time, it was apparently not possible to cancel the last night because he had already submitted everything to the "tax office." The bill was billed upon check-in, which was already very unusual. Although the owner had already been tense but seemingly trying hard during the previous issues, he quickly became unfriendly, brusque, insulting, and, above all, personal. He suggested that my partner and I had relationship problems (???), pointed out that I could be his daughter in terms of age, and that I needed to be careful with my "karma." Very, very unprofessional and appalling. The reviews on Holidaycheck are 3.8/10, which I also find astonishing, especially compared to the 4.7/5 stars on Google. My guess is that negative reviews are being deleted and/or the number of reviews for the restaurant far exceeds that for the hotel. The negative aspects that stood out to us were also mentioned in the HolidayCheck reviews: thin walls, noisy tram, unfriendly owner, and a lack of hotel parking. For €89 a night without meals, I would have expected more. What a shame.

Very unfriendly service. After an argument, the staff tried hard, but both the rooms and the breakfast were still completely unsatisfactory. - July 2019 Addendum March 2022: The owner is now trying to have the negative reviews removed through a reporting process. It's a shame he can't simply be friendlier. The owner's inability to accept criticism is another reason why a visit is not recommended.

I've been there again and can only repeat: it's affordable, super clean, and the staff super friendly. I'd be happy to come back.

Unfortunately, we found a bathroom that wasn't clean, moldy joints, hairdryer cable, dirty socket, very dirty, after we told the gentleman at reception, he didn't say in a friendly way that we have to live with it, the joints are cleaned every 6 weeks, we won't be coming back

My room was ok but the reception was bottom drawer. The greeting was very unfriendly and the farewell was just as friendly. If you don't want to have guests, you shouldn't run a hotel.

The goose meal was very tasty, crispy. Always recommended.

Very unfriendly reception. The gentleman seemed very annoyed by our arrival. We were told off that we were voting for the "Greens" (whatever that means) and that's why there was no breakfast before 0800. Rooms rustic and shabby. Strange hairs on bed sheets. Shower without curtain. Mini bathroom. Not applicable for further business trips to Kassel.

The hotel serves its purpose, but it clearly lacks attention to detail. We had to wait two hours outside the hotel because there was no one at the reception (we arrived at 4 p.m.). The rooms were cold, but the heating kicked on immediately when we turned on the radiator. However, we would have definitely appreciated warm, comfortable rooms. The ceiling light didn't work and needed to be replaced. The staff was semi-friendly but responded to all our requests/complaints. A little more enthusiasm and proactivity on the part of the staff would have made us feel much more comfortable.

The room didn't even come close to the picture in the booking. Price €89 via booking. A storage room that wasn't even worth €30. It's crazy to even offer them when the appropriate rooms are no longer available.

The reception was only open from 5:30 p.m. The receptionist must be having a bad day. Consistently unfriendly. The complaints of other guests were dismissed quite harshly. The room was clean and spacious. The breakfast buffet was average. There were some parking spaces opposite. Tram stop 100m away.

Unfortunately you are not allowed to express your opinion before I have taken out my review because I was called by the hotel owner and was harassed... If you don't want to be harassed, keep your opinions quiet.

So the rooms are really great and clean. The staff is very accommodating. Would book it again :)

Service was friendly. Rooms ok, functionally furnished and clean. The rain shower is great. Breakfast could only be booked on site, unfortunately not directly when booking the room. The breakfast buffet offered everything you could need. No barrier-free or barrier-free access to the room. Free WiFi access.

We spent 2 nights here. The room was very small and dark, it smelled of musty, as if the basement had been full of water, towels and sheets were full of stains, the bathroom needed a thorough renovation. When we arrived we were greeted quite unfriendly, then ordered breakfast for Saturday and Sunday for €15 per person. When we came to the so-called buffet on Saturday, we were shocked by the counted sausage slices, dry tomatoes and cucumbers, counted rolls, you hardly dared to take anything. Then on Sunday there was a disaster, we were simply forgotten! We wanted to go to our already paid breakfast at 8 a.m. Unfortunately, the restaurant and reception were closed. When we called angrily, we were told that breakfast was always available from 8:15 a.m. The gentleman who greeted us so rudely on Friday said it was always like that. We then went to reception at 8:15 a.m. to ask for our money back. There was no buffet in sight, no place settings on the tables and no coffee. Just as we were greeted, we were also said goodbye. Rude and annoyed!! This hotel restaurant is an absolute no-go for us!

Betrunkene Montagearbeiter. Lautes Gepolter und ein Ehepaar das laut stritt bis spät in die Nacht. Frau 2 Stunden am weinen und der Mann sehr aggressiv. Konnte bis 3 Uhr nicht schlafen. Nie wieder.

Very nice rooms...but tram in front of it

Wir haben uns sehr auf das Essen zu Ostern gefreut. Doch als ich ankam und bezahlen wollte hieß es plötzlich nur Barzahlung! Ich hatte aber keines dabei. Mir wurde sehr unfreundlich mitgeteilt es ginge halt nicht anders obwohl direkt vor mir auf dem Tresen das Ec Gerät zum bezahlen mit Karte stand. Letztlich musste ich also wieder im Regen nach Hause laufen und hätte sich meine Familie nicht so auf das Essen gefreut, wäre ich auch nicht nochmal zurück gekommen. Natürlich war das Essen dann kalt, die Stimmung im Keller. Danke für den Stress! Wir werden woanders demnächst unser Essen bestellen. Service ist hier ein Fremdwort.

We booked an overnight stay at this hotel by telephone. We were greeted very friendly and with recognition. The room was spacious, clean and comfortable. There is also a practical refrigerator in it. Dinner at the hotel was also very good. A very nice, communicative family business.

Best food, best stay can only be found here, and the reception is also very friendly, and very tasty dishes are prepared here. The stay for me can definitely only be recommended

Die Zimmer sind in Ordnung, die Straßenbahn und das Restaurant sind aufgrund der dünnen Wände deutlich / manchmal wörtlich zu verstehen. Ich habe noch nie so ein schlechtes Frühstück gesehen. Der Schinken war trocken und hat sich gewellt, die Bierwurstscheibe musste ich aufgrund des auffälligen Geschmacks vom Brötchen nehmen. Für Geschäftsreisende ist die Unterkunft in Ordnung - essen sollte man jedoch außerhalb.

Wir sind mittlerweile so oft da, dass wir ohne Karte bestellen können, immer sehr lecker, der Gastgeber immer sehr nett und freundlich, hat immer eine gute Weinempfehlung, bemüht sich alle Wünsche zu erfüllen. Wieder einen gut gelungenen Abend
