Hotel Münchner Hof in Altötting

We (four ladies) chose two Classic double rooms, which were perfectly adequate for us as cycling guests and only staying overnight. The young man at the reception was very friendly and helpful.

We were staying for one night as cyclists, so we chose a budget room, which was sufficient for us. The young man at the reception was very nice.

Here, too, the guests are being ripped off! It's becoming increasingly common for people to get tap water when they order still water. It doesn't help that the water is bottled in fancy bottles. It tastes lukewarm and bland because they don't even bother to chill it. When I asked, I was told that they don't have any mineral water at all, because even the sparkling water comes from the tap and is simply boosted with SodaStream. You pay the same amount for it as you would for high-quality mineral water elsewhere. They should be ashamed of themselves, but in Altötting at Kapellplatz, you can afford anything!

It was two wonderful days and nights, and I was surprised by the room and the wonderful terrace with its excellent food. The view is, of course, unique for Altötting lovers. I'll be happy to come back whenever time allows. Compliments also to the friendly staff. Hella Soller from Ismaning

A beautiful hotel. Right on Kapellplatz

I used to eat here often, but unfortunately, due to a move, I haven't been back for a while. Now, my journey has taken me back to Altötting in the past few days. The staff was, as usual, prompt, friendly, and very attentive (I recognized some of them, which probably speaks volumes about the good working atmosphere). And the food definitely deserves all 5 stars!!! If you're a fan of Stakes, this is the place for you. The vegetables on the side were a real treat. I'll be back!!!

We were in Altötting yesterday and ate at the Münchner Hof. The service was very, very friendly. Unfortunately, the schnitzel tasted of old fat, and the salad had eight wilted, brown leaves that were already greasy. Also, the carrots were dry, and the salad dressing was just water with a splash of vinegar! We told the waitress, and she said, "Thanks for the info, I'll pass it on to the kitchen!" Everyone was very friendly! After that, nothing else happened: no "sorry," no "do you want a new salad," no "we'll reduce the bill," NOTHING!!!! Sorry, we definitely won't be eating there again! Expected better for a hotel! I'd rather stay home and cook for myself, then I know what I'm getting!

Poor ventilation in the kitchen causes the smell of cooking to permeate the entire hotel. There's no air conditioning. Other than that, there's nothing to complain about.

We stopped at this hotel/restaurant today for lunch during our youth vocational pilgrimage with a group of 54. From start to finish, the experience was wonderful. The staff were incredibly accommodating, friendly, and efficient. The food was absolutely delicious—everyone left satisfied! The restaurant itself was beautiful and spotless, with a warm and welcoming atmosphere. Highly recommend for groups or anyone looking for a great meal and excellent service.

I'd love to keep this place a secret and not review it, as I'm still so fascinated and fulfilled by this place and this hotel. But that wouldn't be fair to such warm hospitality. The room (in the attic) was a dream and so full of wonderful energy. We were on a bike tour, and if we hadn't already booked our next location, I would have loved to stay another day. Simply to feel this high-vibrational, calm energy.

Staff friendly. Beds comfortable. We slept well. But that was about it for the positive things. Cleanliness wasn't that good. Cobwebs in the toilet and in the room,... dusty. Creatures... The breakfast wasn't that great either. Sparse and careless. Some of the staff didn't take hygiene very seriously. We expected something different based on the many positive reviews. Too bad.

We also received one after the official breakfast time. It was very good, service was very friendly.

I was on a pilgrimage in Altötting today and was able to enjoy the wonderful sunny terrace in the wonderful early spring weather. An extremely friendly and courteous waiter, whose name was Gaston as I happened to notice, helped me find a seat on the busy terrace. The menu immediately impressed me. Because Lent begins the day before, I personally liked the fish and the selection of seafood. As a starter I had a delicious mixed salad that lived up to its name. Fresh and crunchy and lovingly prepared. Cheers for that. My water was served in a stylish neutral glass carafe, an added plus. I would also have liked a gin and tonic that the waiter brought over and which was also served very stylishly, sustainably with a glass straw. Unfortunately, this is not possible during Lent. I really liked the main course. I had king prawns on delicious 😋 crunchy grilled vegetables and crispy garlic bread, with a bowl of olive oil with chili and fresh garlic. The food was a dream and a chamomile tea, also served very stylishly, rounded it all off. The first rays of spring did the rest. I told the nice waiter that it was a shame that there were no deck chairs, it was a real shame. I would have spent the rest of the day there and let myself be pampered. This is what good hospitality should look like. I'd love to come back.

This place is highly recommended. The hotel is located on Kapellplatz in Altötting. There are parking spaces in the underground car park under Kapellplatz. The hotel rooms are well equipped. Unfortunately there is no minibar. The breakfast offering in the hotel is sufficient. Many food and drinks are offered in the hotel restaurant. I missed white sausages and Bavarian meatloaf. Kaiserschmarrn is only prepared for two people or more.

The food was average. The schnitzel and fries were too greasy and, at €18, too expensive. Salad with cheese dumplings for €14...too little, too expensive. The taste was okay. The service was fine.

We chose the Münchner Hof for a weekend cycling trip. The central location, the fair price, and the wellness area were crucial. We had a wonderful stay. The staff is very friendly and helpful. We were able to park our bikes next to the reception. The wellness area is the jewel of Kapellplatz: On the third floor, you have panoramic views of Altötting from both the Finnish sauna and the relaxation room. The breakfast buffet offers a wide selection of hot and cold dishes, as well as coffee from the espresso machine. The room was immaculate. Only the carpeting is outdated. We booked directly with the hotel by phone, as they were friendly, uncomplicated, and offered the same terms as Booking.com.

We stayed at the Münchner Hof for two nights and had a really great stay. No matter whether room, staff (in the hotel and restaurant) or the beautiful spa area on the 3rd floor. Everything just fit. Also worth mentioning is the restaurant in the hotel where we had breakfast and dinner. The food was really incredibly good!

Tastefully renovated house in a prime location, nice breakfast

Unfortunately, I still had vinegar or lemon cleaner in the kettle at breakfast, which I used for my tea. The room/heater made noises several times a day. Could disrupt sleep. The SPA area was very nice, but there were few or no towels in the SPA area; they had to be picked up at reception. A church right next to it rings several times a day, including as early as 6 a.m.

The hotel is located right on Kapellplatz, easy to reach, friendly staff, there is a lot to see at Kapellplatz, it is really beautiful there.

Great hotel in a great location, super nice and courteous staff. The rooms are clean, well-equipped and, above all, quiet. The church bells across the street can only be heard subtly on Sunday mornings. A super nice spa area and a fantastic in-house restaurant complete the positive overall picture. You can park in the underground car park or in other parking spaces in the vicinity of the hotel.

Nice tranquil place. However, you will be woken up by loud bells ringing from 6 a.m. onwards hourly.

This is the third time we've stayed overnight in our favorite room and we'd love to come back a fourth time! The ambience is unique with the view over Kapellplatz. You can experience the hustle and bustle and the reverent atmosphere of the village up close. The breakfast has everything you need and is very tasty! The spa is particularly great! Very nice hotel, our room was large, with high windows and a view of many churches. Only the bed was a bit wobbly, there were two beds placed next to each other. If you lie down too far towards the middle, the beds will slide apart 🙈

We chose this hotel because it is located directly on Kapellplatz and is therefore a central point to all the important sights. Our decision to choose this hotel was made even easier by the fact that there was a “long weekend” arrangement (stay 3 nights - pay for 2). From arrival (Friday lunchtime) with business lunch (included in the package) to departure on Monday late morning, everything was perfect. The spacious comfort room (and bathroom) with a fantastic view of Kapellplatz impressed us from the first moment. The menu has something to offer for almost everyone, and what is on offer is very good both visually and in terms of taste. The breakfast buffet leaves almost nothing to be desired, unless you need twenty different types of sausage and cheese and exotic fruits. We enjoyed it for almost an hour every morning. From check-in to check-out, I would like to compliment the entire staff (maids (yes, this term still exists today), service staff and management; we felt very comfortable with you and will certainly be happy to come back.

A great and best house on the site. Spacious rooms with great views and good facilities. The sauna/spa area has a cozy atmosphere with a loft character. Always my pleasure.

We spent the weekend with our group of pilgrims at the Hotel “Münchner Hof” - and everyone was very satisfied and even “excited”. The single rooms are very adequate. The double rooms are a “sight”. The hotel is in the very best location. The view of the Ganden Chapel from many rooms is a “highlight”. The cuisine is good, the service from the international team is a joy! The spa and wellness area on the upper floor is extremely impressive and is second to none. The hotel can only be recommended!

The room was okay for one night, but unfortunately a bit noisy. The beds were great. The staff was very friendly and competent. We had a lot of fun with Alex from reception. He was able to give us information about everything. He fits there. It takes about 3 minutes to get to the underground car park. 5 euros a day. Top. Gladly again, but a different room.

A recommendation for anyone who appreciates good cuisine. The dishes are aptly prepared, reasonably priced, but on the high end. The location is also upscale. Very impressive surroundings and nice ambience. The food offered should meet the requirements in terms of variety, quality and quantity. I had the opportunity to judge several dishes and they were all prepared flawlessly. Requests are taken into account, including vegetarian/vegan options. The workforce has learned the job and is at a pleasant level in terms of seriousness, niceness and professionalism. For me a recommended location.

We'll be back! Very well located. From the parking garage you can reach the reception in minutes. Very friendly and courteous staff, especially at reception. Special requests were also no problem. Studio rooms are very comfortable and the view is great. Food in the Karl Bar was really good and generously sized. Cocktails were very pleasantly prepared and mixed very well. Breakfast buffet leaves nothing to be desired. The wellness area is very cozy and the view of the collegiate church rounds it off perfectly. We'll be back.

September 2024 I went to this restaurant for lunch with a friend today. From the lunch menu we chose the steamed cod with mustard and dill sauce, a salad with it (very tasty) and, for dessert, a brownie with vanilla ice cream and cream. A shandy and a coffee rounded off the meal and dessert. It was very, very tasty. The total price for lunch without coffee was 14.50 euros. With the Citycard the meal only costs 11 euros. We'd love to come back. Thanks for that!

Terrible service: slow, incompetent and unfriendly too! Sorry, but if you make guests wait 30 minutes before they can order and then bring the wrong dishes, then you apologize/give something on the house. Here you will also be shouted at by the old, short, black-haired waitress.

The food was OK but the service was a disaster. Of four dishes ordered, only one initially arrived. Only after asking twice were the remaining three dishes brought. To our surprise, two identical dishes had completely different tastes, significant differences in quality and even different portion sizes. As if that wasn't enough, we had to wait half an hour to even be able to ask for the bill because no one was checking on us anymore. This restaurant is definitely not recommended. The hotel with breakfast was modern and very clean. The location is great and the rooms are extremely spacious. The hotel alone would get 4 stars.

The Münchner Hof in Altötting is a centrally located, large and beautifully furnished hotel. It can be reached on foot from the train station in a maximum of 10 minutes. The reception staff are extremely friendly and helpful. You immediately feel welcome. The rooms are beautifully furnished - a successful mix of old and modern, with loving details. The beds are very comfortable. We had a room that faced Kapellplatz and had a wonderful view. The bathroom is modern and spacious. All areas of the hotel are very clean and tidy. In the evening we sat very nicely on the outside terrace and were served in an extremely friendly manner. The food is freshly prepared and very tasty- as well as breakfast in the morning. The selection at the buffet ranged from rolls, croissants, eggs in various variations, fruit salad, pancakes, and much, much more. We really enjoyed our stay and will definitely come back!

We had a top stay. Quiet, clean and cozy room, nice people who work there, very rich, fresh and loving breakfast (if you want a cappuccino instead of filter coffee, just ask. We were even told about it), nice wellness area. I'm wondering where the disruptive party location of the local youth mentioned in other comments is that is supposedly so loud. We didn't find her. Of course there are church bells in Altötting.

The hotel has the best location. TG directly below from 6 p.m. to 8 a.m. free of charge, otherwise very cheap. The rooms are modernly furnished, very clean. Beds comfortable. Free coffee/tea is available in the drinks corner. Unfortunately, there are few/no “hanger hooks” for bathrobes or towels and the reading lamps are also not suitable for reading, they are simply too dark. The wellness area is very clean and nicely decorated. Bathrobe and towels are provided. The included breakfast was very good quality, fresh, varied and tasty. It was a bit drafty sitting in the restaurant.

Wir hatten je 1 Einzel- und Doppelzimmer für 5 Nächte über den Jahreswechsel gebucht. Das Hotel hat eine sehr gute Lage mit Zufahrt zu einer kostenfreien Tiefgarage der Stadt von 18-8 Uhr und für 50Cent/Std. tagsüber. Das Personal in der Gastro und an der Rezeption war durchweg sehr freundlich. Leider lag das DZ 2 Etagen höher über der Hausbar, die zwar im Kellergeschoss liegt, aber am Samstag bis 2 Uhr morgens und Sonntag (Silvester) bis 5 Uhr morgens abartig laute Musik spielte. An Schlaf war daher nur bedingt zu denken. Man entschuldigte sich beim Check out und gab uns 4 Frühstucke kostenfrei als Kompensation (44€). Das Gastroteam war Spitze, an den normalen Abenden wurde ausgezeichnete Küche ohne Beanstandungen serviert und das Silvestermenu war vom Preis-/Leistungsverhältnis unschlagbar gut. Die Kochbrigade braucht sich hinter keinem mit Sternen oder Kochmützen dekoriertem Lokal zu verstecken. Das galt für Amuse Bouche, die Vor- und Hauptspeisen sowie die Desserts. Zum Jahreswechsel war man mit dem Sektausschank nicht knauserig. Leider haben wir wegen vieler Termine den tollen Spa mit Sauna nicht testen können. Er liegt im Dachgeschoss und machte ebenfalls einen ausgezeichneten Eindruck. Finnische Sauna (85 Grad) und Dampfsauna (45 Grad) stehen neben Ruheraum und Eisdusche zur Verfügung. An die frische Luft oder in einen Pool kann man allerdings nicht gehen. Ein kleiner Wermutstropfen, den wir locker verschmerzt haben, waren die morgendlichen Fehler des Zimmerservices. So fehlten nacheinander morgens einmal die beiden Wasserflaschen, dann die Kleenextücher, dann gespülte Gläser, ein großes Badetuch sowie der Vorleger für Dusche/Waschbecken. Alles in Allem waren wir sehr zufrieden und haben uns für den nächsten Aufenthalt bereits ein besseres DZ ausgesucht. Wir kommen gerne wieder, weil unsere Tochter mit Familie im Nachbarort wohnt.

Es war sehr lecker. Allerdings, war nicht viel los und der Service hat sich kaum für uns interessiert. Ich habe Wasser mit Sprudel bestellt, habe die Bedienung darauf hingewiesen und sie hat mir wieder das gleiche hingestellt. Wir haben ewig auf den Nachtisch gewartet und der war dermaßen teuer! In der Speisekarte war er billiger Angeboten. Außerdem würden wir geduzt. In so einem Hotel!

Immer wenn wir in Altötting sind kehren wir hier ein und wir wurden noch nie enttäuscht. Moderne Speisekarte, es ist für jeden Geschmack etwas dabei. Auch der Service ist freundlich und zuvorkommend. Das Ambiente und die Deko könnte etwas gemütlicher sein, dafür einen Stern Abzug. Ich kann den Münchner Hof auf jeden Fall empfehlen.
