We spent one night at the hotel and were very satisfied. The reception was very friendly, the family room was clean, and there was something for everyone at breakfast.

Beautiful, large rooms, interesting ambience…

The two of us spent a night here after a concert in the city park. The hotel is very nice, and we were particularly impressed by the restaurant. We were well looked after by the staff and enjoyed a drink in the hotel bar after the concert, where a pleasantly quiet atmosphere prevailed, which was also evident the next morning at the breakfast buffet, which was well attended.

For 60 euros a night, everything would have been fine. But not for 153. I expected something different at that price. Unfortunately, my room wasn't clean; the toilet was dirty, there were hairs in the shower, and the faux leather chairs weren't even cleaned. The furnishings in my room were very old. Of course, the toilet was cleaned immediately, and the staff was super friendly. The steak was outstanding. However, I wouldn't stay there again. The mattresses were very hard, and so were the simple microfiber pillows. Conclusion: Great staff, very good food. But the price for the room wasn't justified.

Impressive hotel in a stunning setting. Beautiful, spacious rooms with very high ceilings. I've rarely experienced such an extensive breakfast buffet. Honey from the honeycomb or fresh waffle batter for the waffle iron aren't found in any other hotel, and all at a great price-performance ratio. Very, very friendly staff. Excellent, I'll be back.

Tradition meets modernity. A fantastic hotel has been created on the former site of the Meyer Werft shipyard. The combination of old industrial buildings, vintage machinery, and paintings with modern rooms is something special. The hotel is well located and very quiet. Parking is free.

Great beer garden with very friendly staff

We spent a few days in Papenburg at the beginning of July and discovered this beautiful beer garden. The location is fantastic, and we felt very comfortable there on those hot evenings. The service staff is very attentive, even when the beer garden is packed. The menu is varied and offers something for every taste. The drinks are well chilled, and the food was always delicious. We highly recommend this beer garden; reserving a table is recommended in good weather.

Beautiful hotel, converted from a former shipyard building. Nice, clean rooms. The hotel is a bit dated, though, and so are the furnishings. The food is very tasty, but not much different than other upscale hotels. The location, practically in the town center, is beautiful, by the canal and perfect for strolling through Papenburg in the evening. Parking is sometimes a bit limited, but sufficient.

We were guests for the second time and spent the weekend at the Hotel Alte Werft for a family celebration. Many thanks to the entire team for a great time: Great room (good box spring beds), rich cake buffet (the children loved the pancakes and Belgian waffles) and a very good kitchen, with a versatile chef (many thanks for the guitar interlude ;-) We'll be back!!

We felt more than just comfortable as guests at the Hotel Alte Werft. Excellent service from the moment we booked, where the hotel asked again by phone what our wishes were for the purpose of the room. These were fulfilled to our complete satisfaction. The entire staff, from the ladies and gentlemen at the reception, the housekeeping and the staff in the restaurant, were very attentive, courteous and friendly, which made us feel valued and welcome as guests. We were completely satisfied with the breakfast and the food in the restaurant. The ambience of the hotel and its quiet location allowed us to "slow down" wonderfully and the relaxation factor was very great despite the (unfortunately) short stay. We would be happy to come back. Mega great hotel, again and again. Very tasty food

If you're looking for an impersonal stay in a swimming pool atmosphere, this is the place for you. The reception staff are polite but not very flexible. We were a bit annoyed by the fact that rooms aren't available 10 minutes early, but at 3 p.m. Furthermore, you have to pay before you can even see the room. The rooms are very clean. The restaurant is okay, but the service here is unfortunately hopelessly overwhelmed. An extra star goes to the wonderful breakfast lady, who always has a kind word ready and prepares and replenishes the buffet with lots of love and heart. We won't be coming back again, but will opt for owner-managed hotels in the future, where guests are important and welcome.

Good hotel in a good location. We had a room with a balcony on the 5th floor. This room was really good. So big, including minibar. Two bowls and a dog blanket were provided for our dog. Thanks for that 👍 Service very good. Restaurant: Breakfast okay. We ate in the restaurant 2 evenings. Unfortunately that was totally bad for us. For these prices I expect good food. All in all you can spend a nice weekend there. I would only choose a different restaurant for dinner.

The hotel combines modern and historical. The service was very good and the staff were helpful. There were enough free parking spaces in front of the hotel. The room was spacious, clean and modern. The breakfast was varied and well prepared.

Tip Top! Great room 506 (I often had 501 in the past) with everything you could wish for! Breakfast was also great. The ship line half-section above my table had the same name as my assistant. Nice! As a shipbuilder, I now come here more often or at one, and I feel particularly at home at this shipyard!

2.5 days team meeting. I've been to a lot of team meetings. But everything was right here. - Friendly courteous staff - Lunch and dinner excellent. - very good service around the meeting I can't rate the room and breakfast, had to stay next door at a competitor's.

My stay was great, super friendly and helpful staff. Excellent explanation for guests who are there for the first time. (Like I was). The rooms are large and comfortable, the only drawback, but a suggestion for improvement is a seal on the shower door. I ate every evening in the “Schnürboden” restaurant (the hotel's restaurant), the food was impeccable, a wonderful atmosphere and everything was cozy and romantic. Almost all of Papenburg's sights can be reached on foot from the hotel (5 - 70 minutes) by car or public transport is of course faster 😉 the bus station is also right around the corner as is a shopping center. To conclude, my stay was great, I can only recommend it to everyone. The arrangement on offer here in particular is an unbeatable offer. I'll definitely be back, many thanks to the entire Alte Werft team.

Rooms for meetings etc are really good and the buffet and food are also very good. Service was good and friendly, but there could be a bit more focus in the store. Rooms good, but just spartan and shabby. But absolutely clean. I wouldn't go on vacation there, but it's great as a conference hotel!

We have had our company meetings there for years. It's always great. The food was great. The service is simply great. The breakfast was an experience, as was all the staff, whether at reception, in service or in the kitchen.

Large rooms. Everything was very clean and friendly staff. The food in the restaurant is very good. Great location in the center. There are also charging stations for electric cars. But the point struck me as very negative. The hotel charges a flat rate of €49 for a charging time of 12 hours. That's quite an extortionate thing. Therefore one point deducted

There are three nice hotels on the main canal, all 3 in the same price range. The old shipyard is at the end, but has great, large rooms, a beautiful view and a great beer garden. The restaurant is also good, nice and extensive with fresh waffles, omelets and pancakes (from the machine :-))

Nice hotel that offers all the necessary comfort for a weekend. The rooms are spacious, clean and well furnished. There is a minibar, coffee maker, television and free, fast internet. The restaurant is located in the old Maschinengalle and therefore has a special ambience. The selection for breakfast is extensive and leaves nothing to be desired, as is the evening menu. Our food was extremely good, really tasty. In terms of price, it is in the upper midrange. Only the service is not good. On the first evening, despite having a reservation, we had to wait almost 15 minutes for our table (along with three other people). But it wasn't because of the lack of space, but simply because the three employees at the counter didn't see any need to help us despite asking three times. The meal took a long time (approx. 1 hour), drinks orders were only at the table after 20 minutes, but then incomplete. Unfortunately, the staff was completely overwhelmed. The second evening, on the other hand, was OK, but only 5 of the 30 tables were occupied. That was a real shame and can clearly be improved, especially given the (also price) standards of a four-star hotel. The location is otherwise very nice, a few minutes walk to the city center, 15 minutes by car to the Meyer Werft. Just like we planned.

The ambience is top. Unfortunately there were two false alarms (fire), which was a bit annoying because it probably wasn't that quick to turn off the alarm system. When served, not everything was on the plates as ordered. My husband didn't like the fact that the fries he ordered were on another plate and then "reloaded" to him. The food itself was very tasty.

I was a guest at the Hotel Alte Werft for a conference without an overnight stay. The meeting room had great acoustics. The technical equipment is in a modern condition. The hotel, the conference area and the restaurant are designed in an industrial style. The food from the buffet was good and varied. The service was quick and friendly. The hotel is centrally located in Papenburg. There are various restaurants and shopping opportunities nearby.

Great hotel in a great location...we had a room on the top floor in the main building...view over the roofs of Papenburg...very central...breakfast was in the converted old shipyard...very Inviting atmosphere...breakfast great...staff too 👍...I can recommend it 100%...

Beautiful accommodation with a historical flair

Nice place, quiet, with easy parking around. Wide and varied breakfast. Comfortable beds. Nice staff. Unfortunately today I ordered my lunch, 10 minutes later a group of approximately 30 people arrived, and they no longer served me... A professional service would have been able to attend to my order, and would not have left me waiting pointlessly. How long will we have to wait when the restaurant has 100% capacity?

Absolutely recommended! We had a room on the ground floor. It was really very spacious, nothing was missing. Early in the morning you could sometimes hear the rushing of water from the other rooms. Personally it didn't really bother me, if you're sensitive about it you might want to choose a different room. Even the blackout options did not result in an absolutely light-tight room. But that didn't really bother me either. Overall, that would be complaining on a high level. The bed was nice and hard and I really liked it. All the staff at the hotel are extremely friendly, it is clean and the breakfast is great. Parking directly in front of the hotel is free. I would definitely come back here.

Simply outstanding. After several visits to various hotels in Papenburg, I have to say that the Alte Werft puts all previous hotels in the shade (despite the high price). Ambience, facilities, staff, breakfast buffet - everything was tip top. The fact that we got a free room upgrade was the icing on the cake. Gladly again at any time!

I was a guest at the Werft Hotel in mid-August with a group of 9 people. From the day of booking until departure I can only give 5 stars. The restaurant reservation and the menu ordered with the banquet boss are excellent, and the service in the restaurant is extremely friendly and attentive to the guest. The menu was excellent, not only the taste but also a feast for the eyes. The wine list hardly leaves anything to be desired, I didn't expect that, perfect. I won't particularly mention the breakfast here, if you can't find anything here, you don't have anything at home either, it's just pretty good. I won't say much about the furnishings, everything is very clean and practically furnished without a veil of the last decade. When I checked out, I noticed something special: the anteroom at the reception was being cleaned or vacuumed. At the moment I arrived, work was interrupted so that we could check out in peace. As a frequent traveler, this has never happened to me, perfect. We enjoyed the special flair of the old shipyard and will be happy to do it again. I'll be happy when the old Schnürboden is completely renovated. Peter

A nice hotel. However, the hotel still lacks personality. Everything still seems very cool and if you stand in the hallway in front of the room, you somehow get a hospital atmosphere. We wouldn't choose the hotel a second time.

We wanted to stay at the hotel for a few days, but when we found out that we could only rent our electric car for a flat rate of €70! We looked for an alternative to recharge. 70€ for 1x charging is 1€ - 3€ for kWh depending on the battery size. This is usury!

Slept 1 night on the way from Aarhus to Zandvoort! Top room with Nespresso! Hotel location top on Industrial heritage! Restaurant in old factory hall, very spacious and cozy! Dinner of excellent quality and good prices for 2 people €50 pp incl. wine! Breakfast so extensive with salmon herring eggs to order even honeycomb! In short, a relief and highly recommended!

We were only here for breakfast. Very nice atmosphere. Generous in space. Very nice service. Breakfast was perfect. No wishes were left unfulfilled. Large selection of coffee and juices. Very large selection of tea. Omelette and fried eggs were freshly prepared. Make your own waffles, pancake machine. The price of €25 per person is very steep. But you get a lot and of high quality. Still only 4 stars because the price is already at the highest limit.

Wonderfully quiet location, a very attractive hotel with a highly recommended restaurant.

We were on a short trip to Papenburg and out of necessity I asked reception if I could use the toilet. Of course I would have paid for the use. The lady at the reception refused me this because the toilets were only for hotel guests and I should use a public toilet. I found this behavior outrageous. By the way, the public toilet was closed.

Beautiful hotel on the old Meyer Werft site. The restaurant that serves as a breakfast room in the morning is in one of the old halls where the taps still hang above your eaves. Decoration is very nice and staff very friendly. The breakfast is very extensive with something for everyone. We had a large deluxe double room, which was very spacious and on the top floor. A full-length balcony with a beautiful view. The beds are wonderful and there is everything you need. The hotel is spacious. SUPER

Simply a dream hotel....from the staff....to the rooms....to the breakfast.....simply first class...

The pictures of the hotel give a wrong impression! I booked the hotel after looking at the great pictures on booking and Google. When we arrived in room 137 there was no sign of it at all, see photo. The room was dreary and not worth the money, so I would not recommend the hotel let alone visit it again. Not even a picture on the wall, remote control sealed in a bag, unpleasant smell,... One star because less is not possible! The positive thing is the breakfast, which is really good and plentiful. The price quoted for it is also very positive. Nevertheless, the absolutely disappointing stay in a room that was not only not worth the money, but also had a lasting negative impact on the visit to Papenburg.

Great hotel and the deluxe room was a dream. The Modern Industrial style atmosphere is breathtaking and the staff is impeccable and very helpful. No wish was denied. Especially the bed which was hard at the beginning and a topper was available upon request. And then it was like sleeping on cotton candy. The view is also very pleasant and the sunrise was particularly great from the top. The room size is just right, but the position of the closet is really inappropriate. Nevertheless, the buffet breakfast was very opulent and fresh. Great selection and super nice staff. If we didn't live so close to this hotel. I would book more often😂

Location: nestled between small canals in the countryside in close proximity to the old town, the train station, shopping opportunities and (for example) a very good fish restaurant. The in-house restaurant is also recommended and the beer garden is also very nice. The large rooms, under the roof with a 10m long balcony or 15m long window front, leave nothing to be desired. The rooms are very clean, tidy and practically furnished. There are several USB ports distributed throughout the room and the television can be rotated either towards the living room or towards the bedroom. The ambience, 'industrial culture', is obsolete and beautifully implemented. The 'walking cat' (jargon for cable crane on girders) in the restaurant completes the picture. The price(s) is/are reasonable. TOP!

An architecturally highly interesting ensemble - the restaurant is installed in a former shipyard hall. Three 'towers' contain the excellently equipped rooms and meeting rooms. The employees are competent and polite. A beer garden rounds off the gastronomic offering - highly recommended 😊

A very spacious and large hotel over several floors. The location is unique for Papenburg. Everything you need to spend a nice weekend in Papenburg is within walking distance: the beautiful city center, numerous restaurants, bistros and pubs. The hotel is in a very quiet and idyllic location on the old main canal. The reception was very nice and accommodating. The rooms can be reached via an elevator, among other things. They are very spacious, clean and modernly furnished. Coffee machine, refrigerator, double beds, dressing room, large shower room with hairdryer. The reception is open 24 hours. There are enough parking spaces at the hotel and the parking lot is under video surveillance. The restaurant offers excellent food at reasonable prices. There is a bar that is open as long as there are guests and a hearty breakfast is served in the morning
