Holy Everest in Berlin

We ate there on a Saturday evening (8:45 p.m.) and, apart from two other tables, were the only guests. We noticed that the restaurant had been completely full an hour earlier. The ambiance is quite plain. Perhaps I was expecting a bit more esoteric decor regarding Nepal. The service was very friendly and gave us historical information about some of the dishes. Our two-year-old son was greeted very warmly and given his own cutlery. I had the vegetable momos (10 pieces), half fried and the other half steamed. The craftsmanship was really good. However, the taste wasn't perfect for me. The filling could have been a bit more spicy. The tomato chutney wasn't a chutney to me, but more like a sauce. My husband's dish (it was the mixed platter) was really good, though. It was nicely presented.

The menu is very nice and carefully designed. Even though it wasn't busy, we waited a long time for drinks and food. The Coke was almost non-carbonated. The food was delicious, but rather expensive, although the taste and quantity didn't justify the price.

Great place across from Falkplatz Park, very friendly service and a great chef, the most lovingly handcrafted momos I've ever eaten, and they're perfectly spicy—a dining experience for anyone who likes to try something unusual! And I've been to Nepal several times. Very self-sufficient, too, with the local folk music that can't be missed! They really put a lot of effort into the ingredients, including regional and organic quality. And you can even plan Nepal Himalaya tours there. Despite being described in many reviews, I was still pleasantly surprised by the warmth of the service. It was excellent. The restaurant isn't overly large, so reservations are recommended for groups. The atmosphere is simple but cozy. The menu isn't overly extensive and offers dishes with and without meat. I had the daily special, "Makalu Basecamp Curry," with water buffalo. All meats are generally organic. It was a delicious, well-seasoned curry, but I found the meat too tough.

Particularly friendly, courteous and informed management, clear selection, many vegan dishes (generally all food of the highest organic quality and, if possible, regional), which do not require any substitute products and taste completely, the food feels very nutritious and healthy and is attractively prepared. The seating and the warm light are particularly nice.

I would rate it 6 stars if possible. The restaurant serves you authentic Nepalese food. We had the vegan options. The sauces were impeccable. Food was Spicy and unapologetic as they must be. Hospitality was top notch. The owner welcomed us into the restaurant and took care of my family. This will remain my favorite restaurant in the coming years.

The food was ok. But nothing really special. The place was practically empty at 8 p.m. on a Friday evening. The atmosphere (bright light) was a bit cool. Service was OK and nice. Price-performance not particularly good - even if you take into account the location and organic ingredients. You can do it, but you don't have to. There are alternatives in the area.

Simply delicious. The Holy Everest is definitely worth a visit. Just something different. The dishes are special but well seasoned. We liked the lamb momos the best, but the lentil soup is also highly recommended. However, the waiter alone is worth coming here. Always with a smile on his face, he explains all the lovingly prepared dishes.

The restaurant delighted us with an exceptional culinary experience. The food was not only very good, but also special, which was reflected in every bite. A particular highlight was our conversation with the operator, who told us that he was a Sherpa himself. This personal connection to Nepalese culture made the experience even more authentic and allowed us to enjoy the cuisine with new eyes. The mix of excellent taste and authentic atmosphere makes this restaurant definitely recommended.

A very nice gentleman of the house, delicious starters and food that takes you on a journey far away. The homemade ice cream rounded the whole thing off from a culinary perspective.

We had a disappointing meal. 28 Euros (!) for chicken Thali that was underwhelming. The momos were too doughy without interesting flavors, and the vegetables momos especially were not to our likings. Soft drinks are also super expensive (5.5 Euros for a coke). We took their bread (“Roti”) which didn’t feel fresh and in any case was not tasty at all, and has really high price (5 Euros for one flat-bread). Over all very disappointing experience for a really high price.

I was out and about in Mauerpark and thought I would take a little detour to Holy Everest. Luckily - it was so worth it! The momos with water buffalo meat, together with the dip, had a real taste explosion! Incredibly delicious and highly recommended. The spices were perfectly balanced and everything was fresh and prepared with love. A little tip: Treat yourself to the ice cream, even if nothing else is right! ;-) Many thanks to the lovely staff! I'll definitely come back and continue trying out the tempting menu. ❤️

Almost completely empty at lunchtime, the prices are very good, the food tastes wonderful, the spiciness was perfect when asked briefly and the owner is friendly and happy to provide additional information. I would love to eat here more often!

Super friendly staff, didn't wait for a table or for the food. Both the starters and the main courses were great! The only disadvantage: everything is quite expensive. But of course you also pay for the location and ambience..

The staff were nice and friendly and it had a good atmosphere. They had homemade ice cream which is recommended to try for once. But I wasn't happy with the taste and quality of my food.

My favorite unique shop with Nepalese street food since it opened. Finally original food that is not Germanized and really spicy! (The spicy momos are meant) The price of the food is of course a little more expensive, but that's clear if everything is bought regionally. 10/10

We, two people, reserved a table two weeks ago (by phone). It should be noted that the reservation had to be made in English. We thought no problem. Unfortunately something went wrong with the reservation. Despite the fact that we weren't in the book, we got a table. The place was very tight because the other guests were sitting right next to you. On Friday there were two waiters who seemed overwhelmed. It took 40 minutes before we could place the order. The food itself came after about 25 minutes. I personally didn't like the vegetarian momos. For the main course, the vegetarian chickpea curry, I particularly enjoyed the salad with the mango dressing. The curry also tasted good, but could have used a little more salt for my taste. All in all, we paid €61 (without tip) for two people for 2x curry, 2x and 1x momos.

Wow what a great restaurant! It's not easy to find a Nepalese restaurant anyway. Holy Everest is even one that uses high-quality and predominantly regional ingredients. I don’t enjoy leaving bad reviews, but at those prices the quality just has to be better. We ordered both a lamb and a chicken curry - both being really disappointing. Maybe we didn’t order well, but we both left really disappointed. Don’t think we’ll come back.

Lovely food, ambiance, and hospitality. Rajesh is incredibly kind and will get you excited about Himalayan culture and eager to go mountaineering. Highly recommend the Momo dumplings mix with chili. The zimt & cardamom ice cream was amazing as well. They also have many vegan and gluten free options

delicious Nepali food and the warmest Sherpa hospitality at this place. The owner is a very experienced Nepali trekking guide who is extremely welcoming and full of interesting stories. His genuine love for Nepal inspires you to want to trek the Himalayas. The cooks are local Nepali cooks who make really authentic Nepali food.

It could be so much better. All the flavours are there, but it lacks the final touch. We ordered Momos and soup. Soups were nice in flavour and had freshness to them, great for typical Berlin winters. Momos were a let down, the fillings were well done… we had chicken, lamb and veg versions. But the layers were thick and seemed underdone. We had the chilly sauce versions which made the Momos drenched. Great vibe though; with calming music.

Ich war zwar nur kurz auf der Toilette, aber der Laden ist sehr gemütlich eingerichtet und ist sehr einladend. Auch der Mann der dort vermutlich diverse Service arbeiten macht oder sogar der Inhaber ist, war super lieb und freundlich. Das essen kann ich jetzt natürlich nicht bewerten. Aber ich würde sagen das Restaurant ist ein Besuch wert.

The food here is so delicious and service is just amazing! I’m not a fan of soups at all but the Everest base soup here is so delicious. The menu card is also different as compare to any other restaurants. It’s a bit expensive because it’s total organic restaurant.

Great, tasty food in a pleasant atmosphere. Liked the Thali and the "Snack Set" a lot and they're both excellent peeks into Nepali cuisine. Definitely surprising new tastes and flavors, that everyone should have tried once, in my opinion.

Leider wurde uns der normale Preis anstatt der außen auf der Tafel beworbene Preis für das Mittagessen berechnet. Auf Rückfrage teilte das Personal uns mit, dass wir bei der Bestellung nicht explizit auf das Angebot hin gewiesen haben und wir deshalb den vollen Preis bezahlen mussten.

Sehr gemütliches Ambiente. Die Teigtaschen (Momos) haben wir in verschiedenen Variationen probiert, u.a. auch vegetarisch/vegan. Alles sehr lecker.

Nepalesisches Streetfood in höchster Qualität. Sehr abwechslungsreich, spannend und mit wahnsinnig gutem Geschmack! Die Gastfreundschaft des Wirtes ist großartig und herzlich! Uneingeschränkt zu empfehlen. :-)

Das Essen war gut und der Service sehr freundlich. Man sitzt draußen auf Bierbänken und erhält einen guten Einblick in die Nepalische Küche. Das Essen war gut aber mein must do.

This is a must-visit for local Berliners and visitors. The preparation and the ingredients they use are of best quality one can wish for, not just in a restaurant, but also for oneself at home. The atmosphere is very nice and laid-back but with a touch of elegance with the pretty deco and cultural elements. The prices are very reasonable for the the quantity and quality they offer. 100% worth your money value ;)

Einer der besten Restaurants überhaupt! Bin schon mehrmals hier gewesen und es war jedes Mal herausragend! Authentische nepalesische Küche (bestätigt von einem nepalesischen Freund), geschmacksintensiv mit Gewürzen, die ich sonst nirgendwo so gegessen habe, und super nettes Personal.

Essen war gut, aber vergleichbar mit indischen und scharfem Essen a la SouthEastAsia.
