HOFLIEFERANT in Magdeburg

We were guests at the Hoflieferanten restaurant for St. Martin's Day. Upon entering, we received a very warm welcome and were shown to a table for two. The dining room had a cozy and inviting atmosphere. Pleasant swing and bossa nova music played softly in the background. Appropriately for the day, goose was the centerpiece of the menu. This consisted of three courses and began, after a small amuse-bouche, with a light soup made from puréed beetroot and parsley root, garnished with Brussels sprouts and kefir. It was light and delicious, with a subtle sweetness that was balanced by the freshness and acidity of the kefir. For the main course, we were served a goose leg. A vegetarian option with cheese was also available. The meat was incredibly tender and had the typical goose flavor. It was accompanied by a flavorful red cabbage, refined with cranberries, salted shallots, and a classic, rich sauce served with pumpkin dumplings. Finally, the meal was rounded off with a simple warm rice dessert with orange, almonds, and brown sugar. The entire menu was perfectly balanced in flavor and had a touch of nostalgia. It reminded me of the "good food" of my childhood. The friendly and competent service goes without saying. Thank you for a lovely evening.

It was a very nice evening. We attended the "Opera Meets Wine" event. The wines were well presented and paired perfectly with each course. One point deducted because the chanterelles in the main course were a bit colder. The meat was very tasty and perfectly cooked. All the other courses were excellent and delicious. The appropriate music was accompanied by live opera singing and created a great atmosphere. We would visit the venue again and again and recommend it to others.

Unfortunately, I can't recommend this place anymore! Service was poor (but friendly); we waited 10-15 minutes for the first drink, and for the second, we had to ask the waiter. I ordered duck soup with fine herbs and beans as a starter. It tasted neither like duck nor had any herbs, and it was too salty! My companion's starter was also mediocre. The main course, wild boar with dumplings, was okay, but nothing up to the standards of fine dining; I could have managed it myself. The visit was disappointing; I won't be going back. Better to go to a Greek or Croatian restaurant; you know what you're getting and you're guaranteed to be full.

A flat greeting from the kitchen. The Tempranillo wine we ordered was expensive, but unrecognizable as such and mediocre at best. The duck soup was thin but salty. The duck and goat cheese taco was far too overpowering; what looked delicious on the menu unfortunately lacked flavor. The venison main course was okay in terms of meat, dumplings, and sauce, but the accompanying fried chard slowed things down. The beer was tasty, but really not enough at that price. Unfortunately, something seems to have changed—not for the better.

A beautiful, unpretentious restaurant in a venerable building near the cathedral, with a garden for warmer days when you want to enjoy a warm meal. The cuisine is modern, with seasonal vegetables and something special; nothing tastes too special—all in all, a superb tasting experience. The Riesling from the Pawis winery, also almost from the region, is a very good choice. The staff is consistently friendly and has a great way of answering questions about the dish. Highly recommended; be sure to make a reservation if you want to have a good time there.

We weren't satisfied yesterday. There was paper in our appetizer and some bones in the fish. It can happen, but we would have liked the server to at least apologize. Unfortunately, we were told that bones are part of the fish... and paper doesn't belong in the food, even though it was still on the plate. This reaction was completely unacceptable. Unfortunately, it significantly diminished the overall impression for us.

We love visiting this restaurant and always feel very comfortable there. Unfortunately, yesterday, for the first time, some of the food wasn't quite as convincing. My chard quiche was very tasty and generously sized. My husband chose the meatballs, but unfortunately, he felt they lacked a filling side dish. That didn't leave us feeling full or satisfied when we went home. What a shame.

It's certainly much nicer outside. Due to the weather, we had a table inside the restaurant. The service was perfect. The food wasn't bad, but not worth the price. The starters were also included in the main course.

We had a small but wonderful wedding reception at the Hoflieferant restaurant. Despite the constant rain, the excellent service and wonderful food saved our day and gave us unforgettable moments. Our guests were also very impressed with the food. Both the meat and fish dishes, as well as the vegan dishes, were lovingly and aesthetically presented and very tasty. You can taste the high quality of the ingredients. The Hoflieferant restaurant has gained quite a few fans.

Really the best restaurant in town.

I was 30 minutes early, was tired, and just wanted to rest in the beer garden and wait until they opened. I'm supposed to come back in 30 minutes; I ate somewhere else.

Unfortunately, we have to give the food fewer stars. We ordered a meat and a poultry dish. Both were beautifully presented, tasted very good, and were plentiful. However, the poultry returned during the night in the form of severe diarrhea and vomiting! We wouldn't order poultry there again on our next visit.

What a fantastic location. We dined together and had a wonderful view of Magdeburg Cathedral outside. The food was equally delicious. After the burrata with a strawberry salad—delicious—we enjoyed a fish stew and the chicken. Everything was very lovingly prepared. Furthermore, we had very polite and attentive service. The "Hoflieferant" restaurant in Magdeburg is my favorite place when I want to dine in a pleasant atmosphere. A green, somewhat enchanted oasis right near the cathedral and the Elbe River. The dishes are cooked according to the Slow Food tradition, using regional produce. Vegetarians and vegans won't go hungry either. Selected international wines, as well as those from the Saale-Unstrut region, are also available. And if you're still thirsty at the end, you can purchase them on site at a fair price. Also worth mentioning are the attentive, friendly ladies in the service department, who were always attentive to the guests' needs. I'm already looking forward to my next visit and wish the owner and the entire team a wonderful summer – see you again.

It was the last stop on a wine tour through Magdeburg and here we had the main course, a dessert and an excellent glass of wine!

The ambiance was great. The service too. BUT! We ordered the Piccolo winemaker's platter for four people. The platter, at €22 per person, was a joke. This cheese platter (see photo) cost €88. I just shake my head. What a shame.

One of the best restaurants in Magdeburg. Wonderful dishes are conjured up with love and creativity using regional and seasonal produce. A small menu, high quality. Vegetarians will also find something to their liking here. The ambiance, hidden beneath the cathedral in the medieval part of Magdeburg, is dreamy – especially in the outdoor seating area. Inside, it's a bit more cramped and can get noisy. But the culinary delights more than make up for it.

The building dates back to 1850, and the "Purveyor to the Court" will celebrate its 10th anniversary in 2025. I/we have made approximately 6-8 visits during this period. Project meetings, our own celebrations, friends' celebrations, as was the case recently, or simply a meal for two. First, the positive: The ambiance on the historic Fürstenwall with a view of the cathedral is uniquely beautiful. One of the very best locations in the city. The service is usually friendly and attentive. If they can't fulfill requests, and that unfortunately does happen, it's usually the fault of the kitchen. Over the years, the owners have all too often shown a lack of luck here. While their own standards in the selection of ingredients, their preparation, and especially their visual presentation have always been exceptional, their overambition often corresponded with the unattainable due to a lack of skill. I ate what felt like the best salad dressing of my life here many years ago. They wouldn't tell me the recipe. So it remains their secret how occasional strokes of genius and frequent unprofessional preparation of main courses fit together. Too often we left this restaurant disappointed. Most recently at a confirmation celebration. If we had been there privately, we would have immediately sent back one of the main courses offered. Who says dumplings have to be served so dry and then the kitchen refuses to add more sauce when another guest asks for it? The second main course of chicken was at least not worth mentioning. Not to be misunderstood, it wasn't bad but it also fell far short of their own standards. We immediately dismissed the option of an early (private) return following an organized wine tasting this summer.

All in all, a well-deserved 5 stars! Foodies will definitely get their money's worth. Regional and seasonal dishes were on the menu, perfectly prepared and lovingly presented. We had a lovely warm summer evening, so we sat outside. The rose bushes and the entire ambiance conjured up a special flair for the evening. The service was extremely friendly and very attentive. Many thanks to the entire staff!

Unfortunately, due to the weather, we couldn't sit outside in the garden, so we had a table inside for two. The service was friendly and attentive, but not intrusive. The atmosphere was relaxed, not hectic like you'd expect from other restaurants. The food was delicious, beautifully presented, and the ingredients were perfectly balanced. The main course took a while to arrive, but you have to keep in mind that the food is locally sourced and fresh, and you can taste it. The menu is quite concise, which is one of the reasons why. We'd definitely be happy to come back.

The restaurant has a very nice outdoor area. We reserved a table online at short notice and were assigned a sunny spot with a great view of the city's architecture. The service was very friendly and attentive, and the menu offers a good selection, which is also recommended for vegetarians. The chef's special and the food were creative, fresh, and delicious. Card payments are accepted, but tips must be paid in cash. Highly recommended!

It was a lovely place in a beautiful location. Those expecting ordinary home cooking will be surprised by the extraordinary food. It was very tasty and a delight.

We were a group of 12 people who hadn't seen each other in a while. The mood was great; we all felt very comfortable. This was partly due to the top-notch food, service, and atmosphere.

We had pre-booked a table on our last evening of our stay in Magdeburg (I think it's recommended). We had the Abenbrot thali & the asparagus cream soup as starters. As a main course, the roasted belly of Havelland apple pig and the ragout of roe deer from the Genthin forests. Simply excellent! A bit of a different (in a positive way) cuisine than anywhere else. Definitely take a look!

The visit was totally worth it. The food was excellent and the service was friendly and accommodating. It's a bit hidden, which made it a little difficult to find, but adds extra charm to the already beautiful location. Considering the quality of the food and the good service, the prices are reasonable. Conclusion: Clear recommendation!

The Easter menu for 64 euros was appropriate for the occasion, but not outstanding. The service was polite but not professional enough for a restaurant of this class. In addition, no bread was served, which I would have expected in this price range. Overall, the price-performance ratio was disappointing, especially in comparison to Landhaus Hadrys, with which the restaurant has to compete in its price range.

Great food, great service, great restaurant. We have been there many times and will come back many more times as the purveyor to the court never disappoints. The dishes are unique and a real pleasure, which are wonderfully accompanied by perfectly matched wines. The staff are always up for a laugh and a nice chat, you immediately feel at home. I would like to give more than 5 stars because the Hoflieferant team really deserves it.
