Great food and excellent service. I was completely satisfied. The ambiance wasn't really my thing.

The restaurant is located in a huge atrium. Certainly unusual, but with a truly strong ambiance. We arrived quite late, and the restaurant manager was very polite and service-oriented. That's something you rarely find these days. The three of us had identical dishes: papadum to start with, curry soup, and then a shared tandoori platter with lamb and chicken. Everything was delicious, along with side dishes of potatoes and raita. We'll be back...

When waiting for food for more than an hour, I have trouble giving the food the positive rating it deserves. Unfortunately, the wait time for food hasn't really improved or shortened much. But if you have time, you can get delicious food, including vegan options...

I've enjoyed coming here for years. Everything is just right. The trained staff is very friendly and attentive. The ambiance is very special, and despite the high dome, the atmosphere is serene. The food always impresses me; you can tell me if you prefer it mild, and it will always come as requested. The table is always festively set with fresh flowers, and the meals are always very appetizingly presented. After the delicious pappadam, I had a crisp side salad and chicken korma today; all delicious. For me, dining here is always something special. Many thanks also to the attentive chef - Namaste

We were there quite by chance – Deutsche Bahn let us down, and the restaurant is very close to Kassel-Wilhelmshöhe station. The food was really good, the portions were generous, and there was a very good selection for vegetarians. Some dishes can even be prepared vegan upon request. The service was very attentive and friendly. We had a very nice evening there.

🌸 A culinary experience at Himalaya Kassel 🌸 Our visit to Himalaya was an absolute feast for the senses! As soon as we entered the stylishly decorated restaurant with Tibetan prayer flags and the open, light-filled space, we sensed the special atmosphere. 🏔️🧘‍♂️ The menu was perfectly coordinated – we opted for a traditional thali, which was hard to beat in its variety and presentation. Each bowl was lovingly prepared with fresh herbs, flowers, and a finely balanced selection of curries, dal, vegetable dishes, and sauces. 🍛🌿 We started with a delicately seasoned tomato soup and crispy pakoras with fruity chutneys – a perfect start! 🍅🫓 The service was friendly, attentive, and warm – guests felt completely at ease and welcome. 💫

We had lamb, it was so tender! It was definitely worth it, and the service was fast. The restaurant is in a large, high-ceilinged room, which is quite echo-y. But that doesn't make up for the delicious food.

I ordered take away of Jhinga biryani yesterday evening around 21:30. The food was stale. Didn't expect this. Being an Indian, I preferred to eat from an Indian restaurant, but with this bad experience, I will never want to order or eat in an Indian restaurant anymore. The waiter claimed saying this is the best restaurant here before I ordered food. And then packed stale food for me, very very disappointed. The dish name is biryani but it was like pulao dish. It's very expensive, no quality food at all for the price. I really had bad experience.

Wow! So delicious, but first things first: I didn't have a starter, but my "acquaintance" had very tasty soups (fish soup and dumplings). For my main course, I had butter chicken...no words, so creamy and pleasantly spicy. I just found the side salad superfluous. The waiters were busy but did their best + super nice, and the chef in a suit was super funny and friendly. The ambiance was beautifully decorated. Would have given 0 if had an option firstly the food we were ordering were not clearly explained by the waiter which made us bit spectical of orders secondly the owners behaviour after waiting for more than half hour the owner came up to us stating that we dint get the food yet on the pretext we mentioned it's been more than half hour as an owner of the restaurant he knows it would take time and he deliberately mentioned it will take time as it is grill then what was the use to asking and lecturing and to get the money he even dint denied of getting more bread would be more and in a min.he got the bread and we saw the quantity of the food was less and before the bread coming to the table mentioned we don't need it and he purposely took it and got to the table mentioning you eat or not the money is going to be deducted which dint matter for us but the behaviour of the owner is what made us leave the restaurant without even tasting the food we paid for the food which we dint even touched. Had to leave the restaurant without even having the food served. WE ONLY HAD BEER AND A COCKTAIL. While leaving he was being nice of not adding the bill for the bread in a way as we left without having it. The owner needs to learn etiquette and how to talk to non German customers and not act like he is giving the food for free. Additionally he was so arrogant and so nieve of speaking rudly. I would suggest never enter even this restaurant. Lastly the honest reviews are been taken off.

If I had an option to put half a star,I would have. Personal experience. Hospitality and service towards the guest is nil. More degrading with the statement when we asked to cancel an order. The statement made was if you want to have , have it or not we are going to charge. Said in Hindi... And with the audacity he said. Have a good meal. The behavior towards us was too hostile. Incident was we ordered for mixed chicken food which was not told that it would be with naan. so we asked for garlic naan. But looking at the quantity which was too less for the price we said to cancel the garlin naan. ( Cancelling within 2 mins of ordering) But he replies that it cannot be cancelled. He told it takes time for grill and astonishingly the naans came immediately. We have no issue in eating or paying . It was the way the service was provided. We with some self esteem left the place without having the food tasted. Had the cocktail though.because that too came after 15 mins of wait. And once encountered he didn't add the garlic naan price to the bill so we know he could have behaved well and avoided this. I don't know what to tell more. But I am truly dejected. I went there only because of the rating but now I know rating is just superficial . Thank you for reading through the text.

I had the pleasure of dining at Himalaya with my friends. Honestly, its not a indian restaurant but a good mimic of it. The food was not bad, shit and very costly. It doesn't match the quality or quantity. I specifically called to ask what kind of food they provide? They promised to be Indian but its just frozen food heated and served with extra cost and lot of waiting.

We were there on a Sunday, where both a buffet and "à la carte" were available. We decided on the buffet, which tasted quite good. However, in addition to vegetable dishes, the only meat available was various (inexpensive) chicken and once lamb. At €36.50 per person, in our opinion, it is very overpriced in relation to the food on offer. When paying, the waitress only came to the table with the final total, but only upon request was a cash register printout made and handed over, on which the food and drinks consumed were listed. This must be given to the guest to check before the payment process and not only upon request.

Very very very delicious. It’s hard to find a decent Indian restaurant in Germany, but the Himalaya in Kassel was outstanding. The staff were also just as good 👍🏼. Highly recommended

Disappointing across the board – never again! Our experience at this restaurant was simply a disaster. The first problem arose upon arrival: our reservation was not noted and we were seated at a small, uncomfortable table for two. However, that was just the beginning. Instead of an apple juice spritzer, we got a normal apple juice - and then the shock: a splinter of glass in the drink! The “fresh” mint tea tasted like nothing but hot water and cost a whopping €5. The naan bread was by far the worst thing I've ever eaten - I didn't know you could go so wrong with it. Our starter, which was supposed to be warm, was served cold. After an incredible 1.5 hour wait, we finally got our main courses - and the disappointment reached its peak. The beef was as dry as wood, an absolute disgrace for €30. The “vegetables” consisted of a tiny handful and a bowl of rice (for two people), and the butter chicken, also for €30, was poorly seasoned and carelessly prepared. Charging such prices for this quality is simply ridiculous. The only bright spot: the employees were at least friendly, but unfortunately that alone doesn't make the experience any better. We are shocked and will definitely not recommend this restaurant to anyone. Never again!

We visited this Indian restaurant recently, and while the food was definitely tasty, the overall experience didn’t quite justify the price. The atmosphere was nice, and the staff was friendly, but the prices were steep for what you get. One veggie plate cost almost 24 euros, and at that price, you expect a bit more. The portion of rice was especially small for the cost. For a total of 70 euros for two people—just two main dishes, two ginger teas, and one naan—it felt overly expensive. We’ve dined at Indian restaurants all over Europe, but always for a much better value. The food here was good, but nothing extraordinary that would warrant such high prices. Unfortunately, this place didn’t feel any more special than others we’ve visited, just significantly more expensive.

The food was tasty. The spicy dishes are really spicy. Everything was attractively presented on the plates and the service was impeccable. Only the lamb in the vindaloo was a bit tough at times. In terms of price, it is at the upper limit, but also significantly better than the competition at the train station.

It's not for nothing that it's one of the best restaurants in Kassel. Food was great, service was really nice and location was very good. It was another really great evening. Thank you for this culinary trip to India. Highly recommended! We'll definitely be back.

Very tasty Indian and Nepalese food, beautifully prepared and tasted great. Only the “greetings from the kitchen” and the three sauces were not convincing. On the one hand, not everyone at the table was able to try it because the small bowls weren't even half full and on the other hand, I've never had a mint sauce that tasted so little like mint, which is a shame because it's somehow a highlight of an Indian meal. That was the only reason why we didn't order naan bread with sauces. The rest of the food was great: e.g. creamy korma with a sweet almond taste, with delicious vegetables and a small salad. The meat was cooked to perfection in all dishes and not “fried to death”, as is the case with many. Unfortunately we had to skip dessert because we were all already full. We sat in the roundel of the arcade, which was a bit unusual. However, the area is visually separated by display cases and the tables are separated from each other by posters/stands. The glass dome of the passage is above you, a bit strange at first, but towards the evening there are only a few people in the passage and at some point you no longer notice it. The price is a little more expensive than the average Indian restaurant, although eating out Indian is never cheap, but it's still worth the money. We will come back.

I ordered 2 tandoori roti, 1 lamm vindaloo and a small bottle of water. Food was ok but for this I paid 42.2 euros(for 1 person) which I found too much. I dont know if the prices in menu even match the bill i was charged. It was late night and I did not have time to check but now when I read other's reviews I think there is something fishy. Also the menu is not updated on their website so nobody can plan before going there. I would recommend other guests to first cross check their high end prices and then plan the visit. Usually it is not a pleasant surprise to pay so much in the end.

We were there with 11 people. We waited 90 minutes for the main course. Too long for me. My second drink order was forgotten. Food was delicious. Too expensive for me personally at €28!

I thought I would not waste my time by writing a review but finally changed my mind. As an Indian at least I can alert people not to be fooled/looted by a Premium Indian restaurant where the food quality is below average. We went to this restaurant on 6th Aug 2022 and we were 7 adults and 2 kids (4+ and 5+ years old). We ordered the food at 3:30 PM and after 1 hour and 15 mins, they started serving the food. We ordered for 3 Thali mit Fleisch, 2 Hyderabadi Biryani, 2 Chicken Biryani, 3 Bottles of water, 1 Mango Lassi and 3 Beers. We mentioned them to give us chicken tikka masala in Thali. We have received 3 thalis all with butter chicken. It was already too late and we cooperated with the staff as they said that was their mistake. So we did not return the food. I was highly surprised when I got a bill of 406 Euros. They send us a bill for 9 Thalis instead of 3 Thalis and 4 bottles of water instead of 3 bottles. I overlooked the charge for 1 extra water bottle as I was thinking how 3 thalis can become 9 thalis without any mistake. I had requested them to check the bill again and the staff came and said that thalis were counted per person, so that was billed for 9 people. Again we did not agree in this point as we have ordered 3 thalis for 3 people and 4 biryanis for other 4 persons and I asked the staff that we want to meet her chief as we need to be clear about why we have to pay for 9 thalis when we ordered for 3. We can share the food among ourselves as per Indian tradition and that was not their business to see how we are sharing our foods. Then the staff came again and said sir we have given a 15% discount on the total bill and now you can pay 347.74 Euros. It was already 17:51 PM when we got the bill and we were shifting our house so we had lots of pending work. All of my friends came from another city and they had to return home after finishing work. It was really awkward to argue with the staff about the bill in front of friends when I was giving the treat. So I paid the bill. After receiving the bill the staff replied this is a premium Indian restaurant so the price is high. I felt insulted again in front of my friends and family in a Premium Indian restaurant run by a Nepali owner and Srilankan staff. How your staff can comment on a customer without knowing their background? Do I need to be in 3 piece suit when ordering food or show attitude to your staff? I never complained about the price as I also agree that the price is really higher but my only concern was they charged for 30.50x6 = 183 + 6.90 = 189.90 Euros extra. My recommendation for the customers, please be clear about the payment before ordering anything in this so called Premium Indian restaurant. To the management of the Premium restaurant, please do not take advantage of the situation and cheat your customers. Bill is attached for your reference. P.S. No response after one month of posting this review means that the management is aware of the false billing and poor customer support. I can see when someone is giving one star then they want to know what was the problem. But in this case they are completely silent.. Edit: they try to delete all the bad reviews to make their business clean. My review was reported by them to google and i noticed that my review was not showing. I appealed to google again to post that. They should listen to customers to improve the services, instead of that they are reporting all bad reviews and removing these from review section and displaying all 4 and 5 star reviews only to attract customers. What a shame!! They had no courage to contact me but they tried to hide the fact. Shame!!!

There is very tasty Indian cuisine here. The biryana was excellent, the butter chicken was also very tasty. You simply can't complain about the quality of the food, it is and remains the best Indian restaurant in Kassel. However, the prices are already set very high. 6.50 euros for a basket with 3 pieces of bread, as well as around 5 euros for a 0.3l cola or the few small pakoras for 8.50 euros. The atmosphere used to be more inviting, but now you sit very openly Large building/shopping center. Otherwise really delicious...09

Because of the positive reviews, I came to this restaurant hungry today after a day at the congress. I had number 163. When the food came I didn't think it looked appetizing. Unfortunately it didn't taste like spinach, the garlic came through, but nothing more. I've always really enjoyed eating Indian cheese, but it was almost tasteless. The rice was served with raisins and tasted good. The portion was suitable for me; Even though I didn't eat, I was full. Even though there was very little going on, my plate wasn't cleared for about 15 minutes. The waitress was nice but could have been more attentive. I don't like the atmosphere, I find it uncomfortable and not stylish.

A really positive surprise when we were stranded hungry in Kassel because of the Lufthansa strike: centrally located next to the train station, very helpful service, Very concerned, with lots of tips. Everything was very clean, hot plates, Extremely fast...thanks, Were amazed.

On my way through, I checked into my hotel (Schweizer Hof) at 9 p.m.; When I asked for a restaurant recommendation, the HIMALAYA was recommended to me without hesitation. Super lecker, große Fleischstücke, entgegenkommende und freundliche Bedienung... ist ne super Abwechslung wenn man schon zu oft Döner gegessen hat ;)

Ich war vor Jahren schon im Himalaya zu Gast und habe mich jetzt während eines kurzen Zugaufenthalts in Kassel-Wilhelmshöhe dran erinnert. Habe das Essen telefonisch vorbestellt, so dass ich "zwischen den Zügen" um 22 Uhr noch in Ruhe essen konnte. Hat alles reibungslos geklappt. Tolles Ambiente. Super leckeres Essen. Perfekter Service (vom Telefon über den Empfang bis zum Kellner). Ja, die Portionen sind eher klein und die Preise sind eher hoch, aber die Qualität ist überragend und jeden Cent wird. Hier kann man gut sehr viel mehr Zeit verbringen, als ich es heute konnte. Klare Empfehlung! Ich komme wieder, keine Frage....

Das Essen war sehr lecker. Preis /Leistung allerdings nicht gerechtfertigt. Die Portionen waren für zwei Personen zu klein. Dementsprechend sind die Preise definitiv zu hoch angesetzt. (Siehe Bilder und Quittung) Aber.... : wir kommen aufgrund des großen und jetzt erfahrungsgemäß leckeren unterschiedlichen Menü - Auswahl wieder.

Ambiente gehoben. Geschmack und Qualität des Essens stehen nicht in einem ausgewogenem Verhältnis zum hohen Preis. Ich gehe oft Indisch essen. Dem Essen fehlt es an Einfalltsreichtum & Liebe. Die Küche muss sich die Frage stellen: Ist das das beste Essen, was ich herstellen kann? Ist das ein leckeres Essen? Meine Antwort fällt mit Nein aus. Das Biryani sah übergart aus und schmeckte auch so. Kein Salat als Beilage/ Vorspeise.

Wir waren hier mit der Familie am 1. Weihnachtsfeiertag. Es gab sehr, sehr schmackhafte Weihnachtsmenüs. Das Lokal wäre nicht meine persönliche Preisklasse, aber die Qualität ist Top. Vegetarische Bällchen, exzellent! Auch die Fleischgerichte - lecker indisch-nepalesisch-etwas-eingedeutscht. Die Beschäftigten waren ausgesprochen freundlich.

Ich war heute im Rahmen meiner Urlaubsreisen im Restaurant. Es hat sehr gut geschmeckt und das Personal war sehr freundlich. Weiterhin viel Erfolg 👍👍👍

Wir waren dort am 25.12. Familienessen. Geschmacklich 1a. Tolle vegane Bällchen; Chicken Masala super lecker, besonders mit der Sauce. Sehr nette Bedienung. Das Lokal wäre nicht meine Preisklasse, aber kulinarisch ganz vorne.

Es ist unglaublich lecker einer der besten Restaurants die ich kenne .Das Essen ist Traumhaft lecker super gewürzt. Das Restaurant ist sehr gemütlich man fühlt sich sehr wohl. Also das ist echt empfehlenswert!!!, Das Services Personal ist sehr nett.

Leider bin ich enttäuscht, das Essen schmeckt wie bei der Konkurrenz nur das der Preis viel höher ist und die Portion wirklich wenig wir sind nicht einmal Satt geworden.. Wenn man zu zweit um die 60€ zahlt sollte es sich doch auch lohnen oder nicht wenn man nicht Mal satt wird ..

Hervorragender Ort und excellent Küche. Es macht Freude hier zu sein. Herr Neupane und Team sind sehr gute Gastgeber.

Schöne Umgebung, freundliche Bedienung und sehr leckere Speisen aus einer großen Auswahl. In meinen Augen auch wichtig: man kann über die Webseite reservieren und bekommt umgehend Antwort. P.S. Viele Restaurants reagieren spät oder nie auf Rezensionen. Das Himalaya bedankte sich innerhalb von 30 Minuten

Vor 6-7 Jahren war das Himalaya ein Erlebnis, heute leider gar nicht mehr zu empfehlen. Das Essen ist hauptsächlich sehr lieblos mit wenig Gewürz und viel Fett (Sahne statt Joghurt) und Stärke als Andickmittel anstelle von Mandelmehl o.ä. (zumindest schmeckte es so). Keine Koreanderblätter Deko o.ä. Keine Appetizer mehr. Pro: das verwendete Fleisch ist sehr zart und gut mariniert. Leider aber scheinbar immer Tandoori mariniert, auch wenn das zB in einem Korma war und geschmacklich nicht passte/herausstach. Preislich also ca. ein Faktor 3 zu teuer. Location leider sehr offen und laut. Die Deko macht aber schon einiges her. Die alte Location war schöner. Personal war an einem Sonntag Nachmittag natürlich geringer besetzt, etwas unaufmerksam, aber sehr freundlich. Es war schön, ein Restaurant zu finden, das auch nachmittags geöffnet hat.

Sehr leckeres, schmackhaftes Essen, schön angerichtet und serviert. Nette Bedienung! Immer mal wieder gern.

Wir waren enttäuscht, leider. Das Ambiente muss man mögen, wir fanden es kühl, wenig gemütlich. Das Essen war ebenso - kühl. Man brachte uns auf unseren Hinweis hin eine zweite Portion, während die erste ganz kalt wurde. Die Qualität des Essens war mittel, das Fleisch war faserig. Nun, wir kommen nicht wieder. Schade!

Food - 8/10. They have food food, tasty and crispy nan bread. A wide variety of options for vegetarian and non-vegetrain dishes. A good selection of beverage options too. Service - 1/10. Although food is great, the service disappoints me. I have been here 2 times. First time the service was very delayed. Super slow service. But I went again for the good taste ignoring the bad service. The 2rd time was a huge disappointment. We arrived around 15:30 as Google tells they are open from 12:00 to 22:30. They said the kitchen is closed and opens only by 16:30. On the same day we decided to come back here for dinner, we arrive at 21:30. Again they said kitchen is closed when on Google they say it closes at 22:30. When checked with the person in charge, they argued with us and they can't help it. I gave up and finally I have permanently marked this place as a no-go. I understand if the restraunt has strict policy on their timings, if that's the case it's in their best interest to update it on Google as well and not be rude to the customers.

Die Terasse ist ungepflegt, man sitzt an frisch gedeckten Tischen, aber die BLumenkübel sind verschlissen, die Pflanzen darin halb tot, das Gelände sieht unsauber aus, man fühlt sich eher an einer Frittenbude als in einem Restaurant. Die bedienenden Damen waren allerdings sehr freundlich. Das Essen hat eine Weile gedauert. Auffällig waren kleine Portionen zu einem enormen Preis, geschmacklich nichts besonderes.

Indische und Nepalesische Speisen in großer Auswahl. Individuelle Wünsche werden nicht angenommenen und es wird auch nicht nach persönlichen Dingen (z.B. Schärfegrad) gefragt. Schade, daß lässt es unpersönlich erscheinen.

The food was great! I ordered the mango lassi, kadai paneer, and naan, overall the food was great. They also had complimentary papadum which was a great with the sauces. During payment they said their card reader was broken. I was unable to pay in euros so they accepted USD as well! Overall great vibes and great food.

Das Essen war super, Bedienung war sehr freundlich, wir haben uns wohlgefühlt

Wir waren zum 2. Mal vor Ort in der neuen Location. Begrüßung war kühl, wir wurden ohne ein einziges Lächeln zum Platz gebeten. Wir mussten gut 15 Minuten warten, bis wir die Getränke beim Inhaber persönlich bestellen konnten. Nach über 1 Stunde hatten wir unser Essen. Es war vor Ort nicht voll und es waren unserer Meinung nach, genug Personal vor Ort. Leider hat man meine bestellte Suppe Nr. 1 nicht serviert, wir erhielten auf Nachfrage mit zeitlichem Abstand ein weiteres Mal eine Linsensuppe, welche durch meine Frau bestellt wurde. Zwischendurch wurden wir nicht nach neuen Getränken gefragt bzw. es wurde gen Ende durch den Inhaber ein guter Appetit gewünscht. Die Servicekräfte haben sich nach unserem Wohl gar nicht erkundigt. Beim Bezahlvorgang sollten wir erst einmal bezahlen und hätten dann die Rechnung erhalten. Auf unser Verlangen hin, wurde uns dann doch vor dem Bezahlvorgang eine Rechnung ausgehändigt, sodass wir die Richtigkeit nachvollziehen konnten. Bis zum Umzug in die neue Location waren wir regelmäßig im Gebäude auf Seiten des Bahnhof Wilhelmshöhe zu Gast. Hier hatten wir sogar unsere Verlobung zu zweit verbracht. Wir werden nun nicht noch ein weiteres Mal zu Gast sein. Schade!

Tolles Essen, super freundliche Leute. Gerne wieder.

Sehr gutes Essen, besonders freundliche Bedienung. Die Speisekarte ist leider etwas zu reichhaltig und unübersichtlich. Es ist nicht günstig aber qualitativ hochwertig und Preis Leistung somit stimmig. Gerne kommen wir wieder.

Op doorreis terug naar huis. Op goed geluk dit restaurant gevonden. Heerlijk eten, nette en snelle bediening. Goede prijs kwaliteit verhouding. Een aanrader!

Man sitzt in einem offenen Atrium, wie in einer Shopping Mall in dem Durchgang, entsprechend ungemütlich von der Atmosphäre. Service hatte uns mit der Vorspeise vergessen, Essen hatte sehr lange gedauert und war sehr teuer.
