Unfortunately the last visit 4 weeks ago was disappointing. The food was pretty carelessly prepared, lots of rice, few vegetables and meat. The young waitress just miscalculated considerably. It's a shame, the price-performance ratio is no longer right. Make an effort. You can do it better.

We were passing through and decided to eat there. My red Thai curry was good, but my companion's food was once again oversalted, like at a Thai restaurant in Budapest a while ago. Maybe just not using salt when cooking would be an option. Especially if soy sauce is added, which also contains salt. For a restaurant that belongs to the "Thai Select" this probably shouldn't happen. But to be one of the best Thai restaurants in Germany, it could be a little better. The decor is really nice and the service was friendly too. The price was still acceptable.

If you've had enough of Bavarian food, you should go there. High prices, but justified. Great, recommended.

The three of us ate at High Thai and were very excited. Food, location, service were great. If we lived in Passau, we would be here regularly. Little idea for the menu: we often go out for Thai food and always find it very nice when a dish with different dishes is offered on the menu. 😀

I'm not the biggest fan, to be honest. The service was quite slow. The food on my plate was okay, but maybe more love could be used to arrange and refine everuthing. The food on the plate of my friend was not up to their taste. They had to search for ingredients promised in the menu. Generally for the asked normal+ prices it is not unreasonable to expect bigger servings a bit at least, and higher than basic sophistication of food arrangements. Again, the restaurant is not terrible, but also is not great at all. I wouldn't go again, wouldn't pay elevated price for a really basic experience with plenty of waiting. The atmosphere is a bit interesting there with this dark wood hanging on you from the ceiling. IMHO it's not suiting the place, and feels antique. If you are a busy person, know that there is no cellular reception in the building, also I do not know if there is wifi. It wasn't offered in a clear way anyway. Expect an hour offline at least. See the critical review below of Jack Daniels, I do not disagree with it, the whiskey man has a point.

We had dinner here on Sunday evening. It was a birthday dinner and we were immediately given a welcome drink with all the best wishes. I had the satay and for main course the chicken fried rice. Both tasted very good, although according to the menu I had imagined it with a few more fresh vegetables (spring onions, etc.). I told the waiter that. He then asked if we would like to take the rest with us, he would then let the kitchen know and they would then add vegetables. Fine. Then, as a little compensation, there was a baked banana with vanilla ice cream and cream. WOW, I didn't expect that at all. When I got home I discovered that we had had a complete meal with fresh vegetables and even shrimp (my husband had that). All in all: Very attentive and friendly service Food very tasty, comments are taken seriously and implemented immediately and a dessert to make up for it. It couldn't be better. Thank you for the lovely evening!

The food (2x Pad Thai N1, shrimp, beef) was good and so was the non-alcoholic drink. The problems: there was nothing going on and we waited an hour for the food. We were also really annoyed that for a dish that costs 18€-19€ (prawns even cost 1€ extra!) there are only 3!! Shrimp and 5 pieces of mini beef were served. In my opinion this is just stingy on the part of the restaurant. The Aperol was advertised as 400ml for €6.90, you got 250ml. When we asked, we were told that the quantity on the card was incorrect. We did get the 400ml but here too I think it is necessary for the menu to be corrected and €6.90 for 250ml is more than the Munich prices here in Passau. In High Thai, a “normal” Aperol Spritz costs around €14! In the end, the Aperol wasn't even good because it was mixed with wine instead of sparkling wine and Aperol Spritz basically has a capacity of 490ml as standard. On top of that, we had to wait 30 minutes to pay because only 2-3 people were taking in the food and drinks, serving, mixing drinks, collecting and cashing out. Something like that can only go wrong. I definitely can't understand the reviews here and there are by far better restaurants to eat in Passau. Here you have the feeling that you are being ripped off and are not getting much for your money. Cannot recommend the restaurant under any circumstances.

Unfortunately, portions were very small for the price, the main course was basically a small soup with extra rice (and that for 18 euros, tofu doesn't cost the world either). The rice portion was very small, it needed a second portion which had to be paid extra. Embarrassing: the waiter was made aware that there was no more toilet paper. He simply gave my friend a roll and asked him to replace it himself. To be fair, it has to be said that the waiter was alone and the food tasted good. 0.3 Johannesschorle for 4.90 is also overpriced.

Tolles Lokal, das dem Name absolut gerecht wird! Die Gerichte waren sehr lecker und sehr nah an dem Essen, das wir von unserem Aufenthalt in Thailand kennen. Das „authentisch“ ist also gerechtfertigt! Das Restaurant ist auch super schön und hochwertig eingerichtet. Das Ambiente verdient auf jeden Fall 5 Sterne! Auch der Service war nett, kompetent und sehr bemüht! Allerdings gibt es hier einen Stern Abzug, da mehrere Dinge nicht verfügbar waren. Zuerst gab es kein alkoholfreies Weizen, dann war Rindfleisch aus und dann auch noch die Cola Zero. Und das war noch sehr früh an einem Samstag Abend (und außer uns war nur ein Tisch da), heißt, die Sachen mussten wohl schon am Freitag aus gewesen sein. Aber gut, das, was wir bekommen haben, war dafür wirklich hervorragend. Als Vorspeise gab es Saté Gai (Hähnchenspieße in Erdnuss), als Hauptgericht Pad Kra Pao, Pad Thai mit Hähnchen und einmal mit Garnelen. 2 kleine Kritikpunkte gibt es noch: Die 3 Stück Garnelen auf dem Pad Thai waren für unseren Geschmack ein bisschen wenig und die Hauptgerichte kamen leider zeitversetzt. Aber sonst war das Essen top und somit möchte ich hier deshalb keinen Punkt abziehen 👍🏻☺️ Wir kommen auf jeden Fall gerne wieder! 😊

Das Ambiente ist wunderschön, sehr herzlicher Empfang, sehr zuvorkommender freundlicher Service. Die Speisen einzigartig in der Zubereitung; Tom Kha Gai Suppe ein Must für Suppenliebhaber, hausgemachte kleine Frühlingsrollen, hervorragend gefüllt in einer zarten, knusprigen Teighülle. Der Papaya Salat eine äusserst pikante Köstlichkeit, Pad Thai mit Garnelen und Tamarindensauce ebenso ein Gedicht! Wir kommen wieder!!!!

Wow … tolles und tatsächlich authentisches Essen. Die Wan-Tan-Suppe! Ein Gedicht und sehr lecker. Tom-Ka-Gai-Suppe! Wundervoll! Der Rindfleisch-Salat ist sehr zart und wärmt durch Chilli. Sehr stimmig abgeschmeckt. Das rote Thaicurry war auf den Punkt und auch hervorragend abgeschmeckt. Wir sind leider nur wenig „chilligeübt“, dass war für den Service gar kein Problem! Alles super gewesen, sehr sehr lecker. Die Bedienung war sehr nett und ruhig, hat sehr gut zur Atmosphäre gepasst. Ich bin rein gekommen und war direkt entspannt. Würde ich nicht soweit weg wohnen würde ich öfter dort essen gehen. Ganz klare Empfehlung!

Hervorragende authentische Thailändische Küche! Vorallem das Laab Gai (Y2) war wirklich ein Traum. Wir fanden die Preise auch gerechtfertigt für diese Qualität. Der Chef war sehr zuvorkommend! Wir kommen definitiv wieder.

Excelente lugar para comer autentica comida thai, el pad tahi es excelente, el ambiente agradable, y el servicio tan amable. Definitvamente se convirtio en uno de mis lugares favoritos para cenar.

Sehr empfehlenswertes Thai Restaurant mit authentischen Gerichten. Wir waren zu Dritt und hatten jeder ein Vor- sowie eine Hauptspeise. Alles wurde frisch zubereitet, die Portionen gut, der Service kompetent und sehr freundlich. Zudem ist das Restaurant geschmackvoll eingerichtet.

Das grüne Curry ist grandios! Wie in Thailand. Auch die Schärfe der scharfen Gerichte ist super, nix für seichte Gemüter :D Tolle Auswahl, vor allem auch vegetarisch.

Das Restaurant wurde uns von Freunden empfohlen. Wir waren von dem gemütlichen Ambiente überrascht. Der Service war sehr freundlich und flott. Das Essen ist sehr gut und meines Erachtens orginal Thailändisch. Ich hoffe es bleibt auch so. Die Ente hat sich anscheinend verbessert, bei mir war sie perfekt, innen saftig, außen knusprig. Die Soße würzig und nicht zu scharf, so dass die anderen Aromen nicht überdeckt wurden. Die Getränkekarte könnte um ein Glas Milch erweitert werden, falls es einem Gast doch zu scharf wird. Wir kommen auf alle Fälle wieder.

Being on a road trip, we have two nights in Passau. Tonight it had to be something different. In the hotel, we stumbled upon an article in a local brochure about various restaurants in the area. High Thai was one of the mentioned places. It sounded and looked good, so reservation was done by phone fast & easy. The place is a mixture of robust architecture with new furniture, straight modern lines in an „old“ ambiente. The menu is two pages, very nice selections of green and red curries, salats, starters. We shared a papaya salad as starter (hot & spicy) and had a red curry with duck and a green curry with chicken as main course. Desert was Mango, sweet rice and ice. Long story short, we will be back as soon as we hit the area again. Thanks a lot for a very nice evening, great food and a super friendly service!

Eines der besten Thailändischen Restaurants das wir bisher besucht haben. Frische Produkte, keine Konservierungsstoffe und sehr gut gewürzt. Für alle die authentische thailändische Küche lieben!

Bevor corona war das highThai ein gutes Restaurant mit frischen und leckeren Essen. Als ich jedoch dort vor ca 4 Tagen bestellt habe bekam ich ein ungenießbares und kaum Essbares essen wofür ich pro Gericht 15€ gezahlt habe. Ich habe einen Bissen genommen und musste es dann entsorgen, weil ich geschmackloses und labbriges Gemüse serviert bekommen habe. Nie wieder !!!!

Sehr gutes Essen, tolles Lokal, nette Bedienung, normale Wartezeiten. Es ist auf jeden Fall einen Besuch wert. Wir werden wieder kommen.

Am Sonntag habe ich zusammen mit einem Freund zum ersten Mal das Lokal am frühen Abend besucht. Der Name "High Thai" ist hier vollumfänglich Programm. Das im ersten Stock gelegene Restaurant präsentiert sich mit puristisch-geschmackvoller Einrichtung beschirmt von einer wuchtigen historischen Holzdecke mitten in der Altstadt von Passau. Die Speisekarte bietet auf 11 Seiten eine große Auswahl an. Ich hatte eine Suppe (Tom Kha Gai), die gemischte Vorspeisenvariation (High Thai Mix Platte) für zwei Personen. Als Hauptgang gab es die gegrillte Hähnchenkeule mit Klebereis und Papaya Salat (Khao Neaw Gai Yang Som Tam) bzw. Glasnudelsalat mit Garnele, Tintenfisch und Hähnchenfleisch (Yam Ruammit). Alle Gerichte waren geschmacklich einfach hervorragend, da gibt es nix zu Meckern. Auf die Schärfe meines Glasnudelsalates war ich schon sehr gespannt im Vorfeld, hier wurden alle meine Erwartungen voll erfüllt. Schöne Garnelen, weicher Tintenfisch, und dazu im Nachgang die richtige Schärfe. Einfach gut! Wer die thailändische Küche schätzt, muss hier hin! Bis zum bestimmt nächsten Mal. Ich freue mich schon.

Wir wollten schon längst mal hier Essen gehen und Anfang Oktober haben wir dann letztendlich einen Tisch reserviert. Reserviert haben wir auf 18 Uhr und im Nachhinein war das die perfekte Wahl, denn je mehr Gäste im Laufe des Abends kamen, um so länger musste man warten. Eines Vorweg: Das Essen war super. Wir hatten als Vorspeisen scharf-saure Suppe, einmal mit Garnelen (Tom Yam Gung) und einmal mit Hühnchen (Tom Kha Gai) bestellt, die auch schnell am Tisch waren, aber irgendwas ist beim Bestellen falsch gelaufen, denn die Tom Kha Gai war am Ende eine Giaw Nam ( eine Suppe mit Teigtaschen, die zwar auch mit Hühnchen gefüllt ist, aber ganz anders schmeckt, als eine Tom Kha Gai). Ich hab dann zwischendurch auch mit meinem Mann die Vorspeisen getauscht, denn die Gaiw Nam schmeckt eher mild und wir hatten eigentlich Gerichte bestellt, bei denen eigentlich tüchtig die Schärfe durchknallt (wir lieben das beide sehr). Die Giaw Nam hat aber auch geschmeckt, auch wenn der "Bums" fehlte. Als Hauptgerichte gab es dann einmal Ente in rotem Thai Curry und einmal Garnelen in grünem Thai Curry (beides mit 2 Chillies in der Karte gekennzeichnet, also sehr scharf). Das grüne Thai Curry mit Garnelen hat dann auch richtig reingeknallt - so hatte ich mir das gewünscht, das rote Thai Curry mit Ente war leider Null scharf, hat aber trotzdem gut geschmeckt. Wie schon gesagt, das Essen hat insgesamt wirklich gut geschmeckt, auch wenn die falsche Suppe kam und das Curry mit der Ente, im Wiederspuch zur Speisekarte, sehr handzahm war. Leider waren im Service nur ein Herr und eine Dame und je voller es wurde, um so länger hat alles gedauert und um so chaotischer wurde es. Wir waren dann froh, als wir nach 15 Minuten Wartezeit endlich zahlen konnten. Wir würden dringend empfehlen, noch zusätzliche Leute für den Service einzusetzen, denn sowohl das Essen als auch das Ambiente waren eigentlich sehr gut. Nur sind 2 Personen bei voll besetztem Haus einfach zu wenig, um den Andrang alleine bewältigen zu können (grade am Wochenende und das auch noch in Coronazeiten, in denen jeder Gast seine Kontaktdaten hinterlassen muss und man wegen den Abstandsregeln sowieso nur jeden zweiten Tisch besetzen kann). Trotzdem war der Service absolut unterbesetzt. Wir kommen gerne mal wieder, denn es hat uns gut geschmeckt, aber bitte das nächste Mal mit mehr Personal und kürzeren Wartezeiten.

I finally got around to trying High Thai today and wish I hadn't waited so long. Due to you-know-what, I am still not eating in restaurants, so I tried their fairly new delivery service. The food was hot and arrived before it was scheduled to. The delivery driver was friendly and was wearing a mask (a lot of them around here haven't been lately, even though they're supposed to...). Whenever I try a new Thai restaurant, my test dish is massaman curry. One of the things I like about Thai food is the way that different flavors and textures are mixed (sweet, spicy, salty, crunchy, soft, etc.) and this particular massaman curry had lots of different flavors and textures and was really well-balanced. Rice was included in the price and the portion was large enough to cover my lunch and a snack later on. To hit the €25 minimum order mark, I also ordered vegetarian spring rolls (poo pia thod) and a noodle dish (pad si-eaw pak). The spring rolls were a bit pricey but I just had a bite of one as part of a snack and it was still really crunchy. I had a bite of the noodle dish and it was good, just not as good as the massaman curry. It looks like if you eat in, most of the mains are €10-16 or so, but they have some dishes that go up to about €20. The local opinion seems to be that High Thai is a bit expensive, but the same people wouldn't think twice about spending €12-16 for Bavarian food at a sit-down restaurant, so I'm not sure why it is described as "expensive." It is a bit more expensive than other options for Asian foods in town, but the other options are typically "we'll try to cover most of East Asia and heavily modify the food for Bavarian palates!" types of restaurants and many of them have the word "Imbiss" (fast food restaurant) in their names, so this is in a different class altogether. In any case, I am sure I will order again and I am looking forward to trying more of the menu.

Sehr schön reduziert eingerichtetes Thai-Restaurant mit stylischem Ambiente! Das Essen ist nach unseren Geschmack ausgezeichnet authentisch Thai. Wir haben wirklich nichts zu bemängeln. Das Personal ist überaus freundlich - das Preis-/Leistungsverhältnis stimmt.

Endlich ein Asiate der sich von den anderen etwas abhebt. Essen ist wirklich sehr lecker 😋 der einzige Nachteil, dass es keinen Biergarten gibt. Aber absolut empfehlenswert wenn man fan thailändischer Küche ist.

Als ich gelesen habe, dass im Landkreis Passau endlich ein authentisches Thai Lokal eröffnet hat, habe ich mich riesig gefreut und wurde bei meinen bisherigen zwei Besuchen nicht enttäuscht. Ich selbst habe in Thailand gelebt und bekam im High Thai leckere, authentische Gerichte wie ich sie aus Thailand kenne und liebe. Das Essen wurde zeitig serviert, war schön angerichtet und hat wirklich super geschmeckt! Der Service war aufmerksam und sehr nett. Das Restaurant ist wunderschön mit offenen Holzbalken und stilvoller Einrichtung. Auch meiner Familie hat es sehr gut geschmeckt. Ich freue mich schon auf unseren nächsten Besuch.

We had a short stop for a quick lunch at High Thai on our way to Austria. Even with a quick visit , we could enjoy a lot our lunch here😀 I ordered a fish dish ( fish with sweet and sour sauce) which , when ordered ,I didn’t expect an authentic one like you can find in Thailand . But I have to say, it was surprisingly good, fish tasted fresh and the sweet and sour sauce was very tasty. My husband ordered beef satay which I can only say that it must be good because he had it all without asking me whether I wanted to test it! The restaurant decorations and atmosphere is modern and cozy which is different from other Thai restaurants outside of Thailand , a kind of good taste 👍🏻 I’ll definitely go back and enjoy more foods 😀

Heute war ich mit meiner Frau zum ersten Mal im High Thai. Was soll ich sagen- ein stimmig eingerichteter Gastraum, ein höflicher, zuvorkommender Kellner und appetitlich angerichtete Speisen. Meine Suppe war kräftig und sehr gut abgeschmeckt, meine Frau war begeistert von ihren Frühlingsrollen und ihrem Garnelencurry. Ein kleiner Kritikpunkt ist, dass Ente in meinem Gericht totgebraten wurde. Dennoch ist dieses Restaurant prädestiniert, es weitere Male zu besuchen und es weiterzuempfehlen.

Wer viel Zeit hat, wird hier mit viel Wartezeit bedient. Getränke 1/2 Std. Vorspeise 1,1/2 Std und dann noch kalt...

Ein echtes Thai Lokal, nicht ein Chinese der nebenbei noch Tom Yam, Sushi und Phở serviert. Unsere bestellten Gerichte haben...
