Nicely decorated, but that's about it, unfortunately. Deep-fried food, of course, normal for that price range. If you're in a hurry, I'd rather go to the Heuwägelchen than a kebab shop.

We visited Heuwägelchen for the first time yesterday. The atmosphere was fantastic, and the terrace was completely packed, which speaks volumes. The food was simply fantastic. The friendliness and prompt service were outstanding. We'd love to come back.

The Heuwägelchen exudes the charm of a typical Cologne neighborhood pub—right in the heart of Stommeln. Two veterans of the Cologne restaurant scene stand behind the bar and, with their warmth, humor, and prompt Kölsch service, make you feel immediately welcome. A cozy atmosphere, friendly customers, and freshly tapped Kölsch beer always make a visit a complete success.

Excellent food at a fair price in a quaint location in Stommeln. The prompt, friendly service makes it twice as enjoyable.

For regulars only... Four of us arrived here around 10:30 p.m. After a while, a visibly overwhelmed waitress approached us and, without greeting us, first informed us that there were a maximum of two rounds of drinks left. We initially accepted this, even though it seemed dismissive as a greeting. After the two rounds and the statement that that was it (we were neither loud nor rude; next to us was a regular on his bike, blasting techno music into the bar), I wanted to pay for all the drinks with a card. The waitress hesitated and asked if it was possible to pay in cash. I said I didn't have any cash, to which she replied that card payments weren't possible today. Technical glitches happen, I thought, so we scraped together all the cash. On the way to the restroom, I noticed a regular at the next table paying with their card as if it were second nature, and the table then received two more rounds of drinks. So, it seems they don't want regular visitors, and that's how it felt. The toilet next door was incredibly dirty for what should have been a normally crowded Saturday. Edit following the operator's response: Not a single word is mentioned here about the unequal treatment of regulars, who blast techno music, pay by card, and receive additional drinks upon request, and other guests who actually sit there neutrally and quietly, which speaks for itself. The accident with the glass happened when I was getting up at the end and wasn't just an accident, but happened especially after payment. Blaming it on some behavior also speaks for itself. It's understandable that under normal circumstances, for cost reasons, the restrooms aren't checked, but in this case, the operators and the general public are completely turning a blind eye, demonstrating this on a Saturday. By the way, contrary to your claim, none of us has written a negative review. If there are any more, they're from other incidents, which also speaks for itself.

Yes, a relaxed location for a cozy pub or simple, home-style cooking.

Today, a special event at the Heubock. Yesterday, June 21st, we reserved a table for 8 people for the flea market day. Unfortunately, we were assigned a different table because a regular customer insisted on the table we had reserved first. Then, in 39-degree heat, we were only given 0.3 glasses so the waiters wouldn't have to run around so much. Suddenly, other tables were given 0.2 glasses. When we asked why this wasn't possible for our table, we were told that this had been agreed upon with the manager, Mark Eich. A few days before, a similar incident occurred in which a good guest was told by the waiter that if he didn't like it, he didn't have to come. He just wanted to order a taxi. Guests who come daily apparently have priority, which is a shame. I'm posting this on behalf of my father, Albert. This is not how you treat good guests, as the restaurant industry in Stommeln isn't doing so well. Addendum: A clarifying conversation with Tristan took place, and this resolved a problem. Thank you for that.

We wanted to eat at the Heuwägelchen and had reserved a table. Unfortunately, the reservation didn't mention that the kitchen is closed on Mondays and Wednesdays. The table was reserved by phone about a week in advance for May 14, 2025, at approximately 5:15 p.m. with a nice lady.

Today we spontaneously had a meal at Heuwagenchen, nice and very attentive staff was topped off by good food. It was a classic currywurst and a cream schnitzel - we were very satisfied. We also found the inner courtyard to be totally cozy and extremely authentic, as befits an inn! Would love to come back.

We were particularly impressed by the friendly young man behind and in front of the counter and the cozy, rustic atmosphere. We only went in for two beers after work without eating anything, but we felt very comfortable. Highly recommended.

After a long time, we have been back to the hay wagon twice now. We ate excellently both times. The service is extremely friendly, attentive and, with an approach in the style of a loving Köbe, brings zest and joy to your stay. Thanks to the particularly friendly service from Iris, our last visit was an evening with lots of laughter and the feeling of being more than welcome as a guest. You don't often experience so much friendliness anymore. Keep it up! Thank you for the great evening. We'll definitely be back.

It was great in the first few years. Locally, but in the last few weeks the worm has been in there. No decent cook, dissatisfied staff and irregular opening times.

Ambiance, food, drink, everything was great. It would just be nice if there were more bar stools at the counter.

Service is very nice and accommodating. The food was ok. It was tasty, but there was nothing special about it. Salad drowned in yogurt dip, the grill plate with lush meat but burnt onions in the fried potatoes. But the atmosphere is very cozy and the friendly waitress more than makes up for the rest.

I can't say anything about the food, but the beer was way too warm. Angelika kindly promised to tell the boss and Sabine contradicted us and claimed the beer wasn't too warm. Unfortunately, this is not an exceptional case, it has been tried several times and unfortunately it is not better.

Great location. Great meal. Nice atmosphere. And Iris was a great server for us. We'd love to come back.

We had dinner there last night with 21 people. When we made the reservation we were given great advice and offered us a barbecue buffet. And we were thrilled. Everything was very tasty, the meat was of very good quality and the side dishes were also great. There was something for everyone. It was like eating with friends at friends' houses. 40 min Wartezeit für eine Currywurst (geschnitten und gut) sind eindeutig zu lang. Und dass bei einer Ketchup-Bestellung einfach eine große Flasche auf den Tisch gestellt wird, ist auch sehr ungewöhnlich. Das Publikum (na ja!) ist hier bereits angesprochen worden ... Du siehst mich niemals mehr wieder, Heuwägelchen!

We were in the Heuwagen with new management for the first time today and were super satisfied. Very friendly service, really good food and a great ambience. Kudos to the team, keep it up. We will definitely be visiting the Heuwagenchen again more often!

Best steak ever, desired side dishes are no problem. I always like to come back in the summer. Keep it up.

Leider hat es uns insgesamt nicht gut gefallen. Zwar war die Bedienung freundlich und zügig unterwegs, aber es fehlte offensichtlich an Personal, sodaß wir längere Zeit leere Gläser hatten und bis wir gegangen sind vor unseren leergegessenen Tellern gesessen haben. Uns war das Essen außerdem nicht ausreichend genug gewürzt, - nachwürzen mit Salz und Pfeffer ist da für uns keine wirkliche Alternative. Im übrigen funktioniert die online Reservierung nicht und telefonisch war auch niemand zu Öffnungszeiten zu erreichen.

This year's New Year's Eve was poorly prepared. The meals are delicious. No DJ disco lighting. The atmosphere was ok. New Year's Eve 2023/2024 was so-so. Last year was great, especially the disco lighting. And the atmosphere was top notch. This year is bad 🫨 The interior is great for us.. We often go for coffee and drinks.

Lekkere schnitzels gegeten voor een prima prijs! De bediening was sympathiek en de sfeer was gezellig. De droge witte wijn was ook erg lekker. Zeker een aanrader voor een eenvoudige maar goede maaltijd.

Das Essen war groten schlecht und das Personal total überfordert Never ever. Beim zweiten Versuch war alles deutlich besser viel besser. Wir gehen jetzt ofter dorthin.!!

Wir sind am Sonntag auf der Rückreise an den Niederrhein spontan im Heuwägelchen eingekehrt. Das Essen war wirklich gut und frisch zubereitet. Besonders angenehm aufgefallen ist uns das Personal, das sollte überall so sein. Wir können das Heuwägelchen nur weiterempfehlen.

Wir haben unsere Taufe im Heuwägelchen gefeiert. Das Buffet war klasse und hat allen geschmeckt. Die Dekoration der Tische war so schön hergerichtet. Das Personal ist sehr freundlich und kinderlieb. Wir bedanken uns für einen wundervollen Tag und werden sicherlich wieder kommen 🌷🥂

War am Samstag dort essen war super lecker und sehr viel habe leider nicht alles aufessen können aufjeden Fall weiß der Koch was er dort in der Küche macht ich komme aufjeden Fall wieder Daumen hoch weiter so

Essen sehr lecker freundliches Personal

Die Bedienung war nett. Der Koch ist definitiv verliebt gewesen. Von salatdressing, (leider nicht essbar) über pommes über Steak alles versalzen. Steaks waren leider durch statt medium. Hühnchen vom grillteller war blutig und gleichzeitig trocken. Über die portionsgrössen kann man sich streiten. Der Preis war auf jeden Fall nicht gerechtfertigt. Wir kommen nicht wieder.

Vor kurzem gab es die Neueröffnung mit neuem Chef. Wir waren heute zum Essen spontan dort und waren sehr zufrieden. Es hat sehr gut geschmeckt und die Größe der Portion war dem Preis angemessen und kann sich sehen lassen. Als Vorspeise gab es einen frischen Salat mit Dressing, ebenfalls sehr lecker. Satt wird man definitiv! Die Mitarbeiter waren sehr aufmerksam und freundlich. Da kommt man gerne wieder.

Heute spontan im Heuwägelchen und einen Tisch für 2 Personen bekommen. Essen super lecker, das Ambiente ist Wahnsinn. Richtig schöne Lokalität. Unser Gastgeber hat sich super um uns gekümmert. Kommen gerne wieder .

Die Portionen waren ziemlich groß, geschmeckt hat es auch, das Kölsch war nicht gut gezapft, Gläser nicht bis zum Eichstrich gefüllt und Schaum haben wir vermisst, als wir dann zum bezahlen kamen meinte der Wirt wir sollen doch schon mal ausrechnen! Nicht das wir nicht rechnen können, aber das geht garnicht, zumal wir zum 1.mal dort waren, Vertrauen ist ja schön, aber so??!!

Meine Nummer 2. Tooooooller Service. Bei gutem Wetter tolle Terrasse. Gute Essenskarte und liebevolles Ambiente. Ein antiker Heuwagen ist auch zu finden! Geht hin und sucht mal. Wirklich herzliche Empfehlung für rheinische Gastfreundschaft! Ich komme gerne immer wieder!

Wir waren mit Freunden dort zum Essen verabredet. Es ist eine schöne gemütliche Kneipe mit einem einladenden Biergarten. Das Brot was zu Ajoli und Kräuterbutter gereicht wurde, war sehr lecker. Auch die Speisen sehr lecker und frisch zubereitet. Das Personal sehr freundlich und zuvorkommend. Alles in allem ein gelungener Abend.

Fürchterliche Bedienung, unflexibel - und dann noch nicht rechnend. Sehr mageres Angebopt an Speisen - KEINE einzige Suppe. Alles sehr lieblos - und dann das Publikum....nie wieder, selbst nicht beim Radfahren.

Das Heuwägelchen liegt direkt am Marktplatz in Stommeln, sodass Parken kein Problem ist. Die Atmosphäre ist urig, das Bier lecker und die Bedienung sehr freundlich. An der Theke ist reichlich Platz, wenn man es mag. Die Tische sind davon leicht getrennt, sodass sich aber auch immer ein Platz findet, wenn man mal unter sich bleiben will. Hinten befindet sich auch ein großer Biergarten, der zum Verweilen einlädt. Man könnte zwar einerseits von einer typischen guten Dorfkneipe sprechen, muss aber andererseits anerkennen, dass der Thekenbereich zum Essbereich räumlich leicht abgetrennt ist. Probleme für Behinderte konnte ich nicht entdecken. Die Karte bietet für jeden Geschmack etwas und die Küche hat sogar ein offenes Ohr für Sonderwünsche. Wer einen schönen Abend verbringen will, der ist hier richtig aufgehoben.

Wir waren auf die Flammkuchen wild, aber die gab es leider bei unserem Besuch nicht. Alternativ sind wir dann auf Schnitzel umgeschwenkt; die waren ok, aber nicht das was wir wollten. Der große Schankraum mit Thekenbetrieb ist recht munter und laut (soll er auch), aber wenn man dann zum Essen in einen kleinen tiefergelegten Nebenraum mit sehr eng stehenden Tischen geführt wird ist das nicht sehr gemütlich. Der Lärmpegel ist sehr hoch. Vielleicht ist es im Sommer netter, wenn die Leute sich auch draussen aufhalten können.
