It annoys me that the beautiful summer terrace is now enclosed in glass, so that's the end of it for us.

The atmosphere is lovely, the staff incredibly friendly and attentive, but the food was very poor for the price. I've never eaten such bad mashed potatoes and reheated vegetables. There's a lot of room for improvement.

We had reserved a table for 4 adults and 1 child last night. We got a lovely, quiet spot, and the service was very nice, attentive, and incredibly friendly. The waiter was especially kind to the children, bringing their food first – I've rarely experienced such a sweet and friendly waiter! He welcomed us immediately, which created a pleasant atmosphere and made it a lot of fun. My guests from Greece were also very impressed and were able to communicate well with the waiter. The food was absolutely delicious. Highly recommended, and we'd love to come back again.

Appetizers were "forgotten," a half-hearted apology was offered, and despite empty glasses, no one asked if I wanted more. The main course tasted okay, but there was far too little of it. I omitted an item from my order, and without any prior notice, this was treated as a "change of order" and charged an extra €1.50! So I leave something out and have to pay an extra €1.50 for it?! Absolutely unacceptable! Not recommended.

Worth it! Good menu and service. The decor is cozy and modern, but that's certainly a matter of taste. I'm very picky when it comes to food, so I'm only giving it four stars. But many will rate it higher.

We (two people) visited the restaurant (with a reservation) in the evening. We had a table on the heated terrace. After a short while, the menu was brought to us without even asking what kind of aperitif or something similar we'd like...we then asked for it ourselves. Our order was taken quickly and served shortly after (we had just toasted the aperitif). When the food was served, we weren't even asked if we'd like a wine with it. We only received the wine on our own initiative, but a wine list wasn't provided. After we had enjoyed the meal (which was very good), the table was cleared, and the standard procedures weren't followed - should we bring the menu again, did they have any other requests, etc. We then had to ask for an espresso ourselves - this was done by the "restaurant owner/manager," to whom we had already briefly described our impressions on the spot. We left the restaurant with the impression that guests are treated very differently in this restaurant. At the same time, we witnessed a table of five being served very attentively in every way (recommendations, small talk, wine list, etc., and a lot of questions, etc.); it was probably the Gucci outfit 😉 - but one should keep in mind that not everyone flaunts their wealth. We wish you continued success.

The communication and coordination beforehand were so friendly and warm. The team listened to our requests and implemented them incredibly beautifully. There were about 35 of us, and we were allowed to order à la carte. The dishes were served simultaneously. How you managed that – amazing! Every single guest was so thrilled with your service, the quality, and the taste of the food. Very nice restaurant with good cuisine and attentive staff

We discovered it by chance, stopped in for lunch, had a fantastic meal at a fair price, and received top-notch service, even though a wedding party had already made reservations. Anyone who can pull something like that off deserves the highest praise. We'll be back on our next vacation and will rave about Herzberg's to others until then. As always, everything was tip top.

It won me over. We were skeptical at first; the reviews sounded good, but the menu was a bit confusing. But no matter, both my wife's order of plaice fillet and my cordon bleu were delicious, and the whole package—ambience, service, quality, and value—was perfectly fine. A visit is definitely worth it.

The restaurant impressed us all around. The food was outstanding – fresh, flavorful, and lovingly prepared. The ambiance is stylish and inviting, making you feel immediately at home. We would particularly like to emphasize the exceptionally friendly service, which perfectly rounded off the visit. Highly recommended!

By far one of the best restaurants in the area. Service, food quality, and ambiance are all top-notch. The wine list deserves special mention. The beef tartare was excellent, the carrot and ginger soup with shrimp was very good, and then four of us had three identical main courses with three different levels of doneness, all top-notch, hot, cooked to perfection, and of very good quality. Of the 10 steakhouses, 9 don't manage that, that's for sure. Many thanks to the entire team.

The ambiance is very nice and pleasant. The service is attentive and quite friendly. The food is solid, but not exactly wow. For the price, the value for money isn't always there. Some of the food arrives cold. The fried potatoes are too brown/black. The fried potatoes also seem fried rather than fried. The gnocchi were tasty, but toward the end they became so spicy that it gave you a stomach ache. There are hardly any options for vegetarians. I don't think there are any vegan options at all.

The Herzberg Restaurant in Scharbeutz is highly recommended for anyone who appreciates good, home-style German cuisine. The changing seasonal specialties are particularly noteworthy – depending on the season, fresh chanterelles, asparagus, or hearty kale, for example, appear on the menu. The dishes are always freshly prepared, down-to-earth, and very flavorful. The service is excellent: attentive, friendly, yet pleasantly unobtrusive. You feel completely welcome. The value for money is also impressive – the prices are extremely moderate for the quality and quantity offered.

Everything was perfect on the first evening. The food was good, the service fast, and the wines not overpriced. We decided to go back the next day and reserved the same table. A couple with two huge dogs got our table. The manager said dogs are very welcome here and need the space. He said if we didn't like it, we could leave. We've never had such a rude reception. He sat us at a table between two open doors. It was drafty, and we didn't feel comfortable. This restaurant is suitable for dog owners. But not for regular vacationers without dogs. You'll be brushed off. I can therefore only recommend this restaurant to dog owners.

Lured by the pictures in previous reviews, which portrayed a more fine-dining feel, we reserved a table. The food was rather mediocre in comparison. My plate was smeared and dirty, and the sauce had obviously been on the plate for a while, as it had dried. The fish was tasty and fresh, but the overall impression was disappointing. The service was excellent.

Hello My wife and I were there last night (August 18, 2025). Friendly staff, clean restrooms, and good food. I almost never give it five stars, so I really have to be impressed. Incredibly friendly, very tasty food, great service

I've been eating at Herzberg's once a year for about 10 years. I've never been satisfied. However, family invites us, and we don't want to turn them down. This year, I had chicken strips with mushrooms and various vegetables from the lunch menu. It was hot around the edges and almost cold in the center. So, perfect microwave food.

Update: We've been coming here for 9 years now and are just as enthusiastic as we were on the first day. We stumbled upon Herzbergs by chance 2.5 years ago while on a day trip to Scharbeutz. Since then, we've been going to Scharbeutz to eat at Herzbergs. There hasn't been a single meal we haven't enjoyed. Everything that comes out of the kitchen always has a certain something extra, is beautifully presented, and captivates with its finely blended flavors. Yesterday, we enjoyed the king prawns in apricot-tarragon sauce and the roasted venison. Equally delicious, along with the cream of crab soup, which one of us usually orders, was the sophisticated dessert from the weekly menu, "Wheat beer mousse with plum ice cream and a fruity sauce." We were also lucky enough to have perhaps caught the last warm, sunny day to sit outside. This year, we certainly won't wait for next spring to come back ☉🌝🌞

We used to come here often, but unfortunately the Herzberg restaurant has declined considerably. A server who has worked there for many years was very reserved and unfriendly. The food was significantly overpriced for the quality. For spaghetti with shrimp, which cost €32, they charged an additional €1.50 for Parmesan cheese. At an Italian restaurant, you can get spaghetti with shrimp including Parmesan cheese for a maximum of €18-20. I'm not allowed to eat carbohydrates for health reasons, so I ordered a salad instead of potatoes. I had to pay an extra €1.50 for this. The food was okay, but significantly overpriced for the quality. After this experience, we will go to other restaurants in the future. For the price, we expect friendly service and particularly good quality. Unfortunately, we didn't get that for the money at this restaurant.

In my opinion, the food tastes like reheated food. It doesn't arrive warm, and in my opinion, the plate shouldn't be hotter than a schnitzel. And let's not even get started on those prices. The cucumber salad wasn't that great either, and the garlic bread with dips didn't say which herbs were in the dip.

We were on vacation in Scharbeutz and discovered Herzberg's. We visited the restaurant several times and sat in the covered outdoor area. The ambiance is very pleasant and feels high-quality. The staff was very friendly, accommodating, and polite. The food was exceptionally good. Herzberg's is a more expensive restaurant, but it's worth every cent. We thank you for the excellent food and the friendly staff. We would be happy to return.

There were four of us and we thought it was delicious. Unfortunately, the buttered potatoes were cold and lacked butter. To all smokers: Smoking is prohibited on the open terrace. We ordered the following dishes: Plaice, fried potatoes with bacon, buttered potatoes, swordfish, mashed potatoes with sesame seeds, and Caesar salad with chicken strips

The food was okay; I had Baltic plaice with buttered potatoes, but I missed a bit of melted butter. The place was fine, but the restaurant wasn't. They had reserved a terrace for four people in the summer, three of whom were smokers, and they still had to go down from the open terrace to smoke. I couldn't understand that at first 😏⁉️

Our expectations were more than exceeded! The food was truly outstanding – absolutely spot-on in terms of flavor and of a quality that completely won us over. Every dish was freshly prepared, lovingly presented, and a true highlight. It's also worth mentioning that the ingredients were of the highest quality, and you could taste the freshness on the plate. We were so impressed that we went back for dinner just two days later. And our second visit didn't disappoint – quite the opposite: everything was perfect again. The atmosphere at Herzberg's is very pleasant – stylish, yet relaxed and cozy. You immediately feel welcome. The service is also excellent: The staff is friendly, attentive, and always professional, without being intrusive. There's no need to beat around the bush. EVERYTHING'S FINE!

Vegetarians not welcome! First of all: There was nothing wrong with the food; it was very tasty. For lunch until 4 p.m., there's a bit more for vegetarians than on the evening menu. However, the service left a lot to be desired. When the very expensive drinks arrived (beer €5.20, Wild Berry Lillet €10.90 with a plastic straw), I asked if I'd read correctly that the evening menu didn't offer any vegetarian dishes. As we walked on, I was very annoyed to hear that there were only gnocchi (which was even vegan) and salad. After the drinks were almost empty, meaning we'd been sitting for 20 minutes, our food order was taken. My husband ordered a second beer, but it was forgotten. Luckily, the manager/boss came by and asked if we wanted another beer. We then told him that it had already been ordered. After that, it was brought quickly. After a long back and forth, because it wasn't possible (or rather, unwilling) to cook the vegetable and potato gratin that evening, according to the waitress, I ordered the daily special of chicken with tagliatelle, spinach, and sun-dried tomatoes in a Parmesan sauce, requesting that the meat be omitted and a bit more pasta added. 4 slices of garlic bread with two sauces for €8.50 were brought 20 minutes after ordering, and we'd already been sitting there for 40 minutes. So, everything was a bit chewy. The daily special, which I ordered without meat, contained about 100 grams (raw) tagliatelle, 6 sun-dried tomatoes, 4 tiny, barely noticeable spinach leaves, and the sauce. The full price of €23.50 was charged for this, and no, it wasn't an oversight; the receipt stated €0.00 without meat. I've uploaded a photo of the receipt. Even at a good Italian restaurant, pasta with Parmesan sauce costs €18 at best. We thought it was cheeky to charge the full price. Now you could say we saved that on tips, but no, we wouldn't have paid that anyway because of the poor service. Expensive and snotty is a bad combination; the chef gets 5* because he really knows what he's doing. The restaurant wasn't full. Oh yes, it's very cramped, and if you're overweight, you won't be able to fit between the bench and the table.

We ate at Herzbergs last week and were disappointed. The food was lukewarm and tasted nothing like it. Now, we're not the kind of people who complain loudly. We're more the type who never go back. Today we made an exception and ate at Herzbergs again. What can I say? The food was truly magnificent. It tasted amazing, and above all, it was really hot (which isn't a given here on the Baltic Sea). Therefore, we highly recommend Herzberg.

Initially full of anticipation, my friend and I were disappointed when my friend tried to order our drinks and couldn't be understood because of her Spanish accent. From that point on, the waitress only spoke to me, without making any effort to improve communication. In summary, the fish and boiled potatoes were rather bland, and the staff weren't particularly attentive.

Unfortunately, I have to change my previous review, and for good reason! I've been going to Scharbeutz irregularly since 2004, and since then I've been visiting the restaurant; it's always been a staple of my visits. But today, on my birthday, I'm shocked and sad about what happened. We arrived at lunchtime and was initially surprised by the new exterior design (I hadn't been there in a while). Then I went to the restroom and pointed out that we wanted to eat there. The young man (apparently the new boss/the son of the previous owner) looked me up and down, smiled, and greeted me warmly. The server seemed stressed and, without stopping, answered my question about whether smoking was still permitted outside, somewhat offended. As I then left the area, she reprimanded me, saying that it was cordoned off and that we should leave the restaurant premises on the other side to smoke. All without stopping once, and her tone wasn't exactly friendly, more annoyed, as if she were reprimanding a child. My husband had already been served and wanted to leave, but I pointed out that we had just arrived, that it was my birthday, and that we were hungry. Then my son came back from the restroom and reported that the server had yelled at him for using the women's restroom; the child is 6 years old, and it's hardly likely that our son was up to anything! He said he wanted to show an older lady where the restroom was. Ultimately, I don't care why my son was in the women's restroom! But sharply reprimanding him with the words, "Young man, you have no business being in the women's restroom," I think is a bit excessive. That was it for me, and we left the restaurant. What a shame, this would never have happened under the previous manager and staff! New is not always better and I will not be visiting Herzbergs again.

The three of us arrived at 8:30 p.m. and wanted something to eat. A rather uncharming waitress then told us that the kitchen was already closed. At 8:30 p.m.? In the summer? When the tourists are there? That didn't sound credible, especially since the restaurant was still very busy. Conclusion: We can't say anything about the food. The ambiance looked quite nice. The service, or rather, the management, is abysmal. Better to go somewhere else.

Great location and a very nice ambiance – rustic and cozy inside, modern and stylish outside! The food was really good: the veal schnitzel was excellent, the veal cordon bleu was also top-notch. The side dishes – potatoes and vegetables – were also delicious, albeit quite generously portioned. It was definitely good value for money! What we were unfortunately a bit disappointed about was the service regarding outdoor seating: When we asked directly on site, we were told that reservations for outside were never possible. However, when we arrived, many of the tables outside were obviously reserved. Two tables for two were free, so we asked to be moved outside – but this was declined. A short time later, however, another couple who were supposed to sit inside were spontaneously allowed to leave – apparently after a decision by another server. We found that a bit of a shame, especially since it was very warm inside. Overall, though, a good restaurant with delicious food – we would just like to see a bit more consistency and flexibility in the service in the future. There are 3-4 free parking spaces directly in front of the restaurant for guests.

Absolutely! It was totally worth the walk from Timmendorfer Strand. Great location and truly amazing food. We'll be back there again in the next few days. 10 stars from us.

It has its price. For me, the dishes could be a bit simpler. Beef tartar doesn't have to have mustard ice cream. Raw egg and capers will do, too. But the prices are good for the food.

For me, a Wiener Schnitzel must come with potato salad, but unfortunately, it wasn't on the menu. My request to swap fried potatoes for fries was charged a €1.50 change fee—a total no-go for me. The passion fruit spritzer was served lukewarm, which could have been better.

We celebrated a golden wedding anniversary there. The food was truly outstanding. The beef tartare with mustard ice cream was sensational. The entrecôte was also incredibly delicious. The wine selection is truly extensive. The service was perfect. We'll definitely be back.

This was our first time here for dinner. We had a reservation and were seated inside. The decor is unique but cozy. The menu is a bit limited for us, as it is everywhere on the coast, because we no longer eat fish. We opted for the gratinated feta cheese as a starter, a portion for two. This was accepted without any problems. The starter was well-seasoned and delicious, even if it was more like tomatoes baked with feta cheese. Thus, the name on the menu was misleading for us. My wife opted for the sauerfleisch (meatballs), and I opted for the Wiener Schnitzel (Viennese schnitzel). The sauerfleisch (meatballs) was plentiful and delicious, with a few too many raw onions on the plate, but that's a matter of taste. The schnitzel was thin, as it should be, and the meat tender. The breading was a bit hard, perhaps with too much breadcrumbs, certainly not as light as you'd expect from a Wiener Schnitzel. The fried potatoes for both dishes were pre-cooked and then fried in clarified butter. So hearty, but tasty. For me, they could have been a bit crispier. Overall, we enjoyed good, home-style food. The prices were reasonable, and the service was very friendly.

A truly lovely evening at Herzberg. We started with a rosé secco and a beer, and enjoyed a chardonnay with our meal. We opted for fish dishes: panfish, plaice, and cod, all cooked to perfection. The sauces, the mustard sauce, and the remoulade were truly amazing. They made all the difference. For dessert, we had crème brûlée, also absolutely delicious. Every visit to Scharbeutz includes an evening at Herzberg.

Where should I even start? We always enjoyed eating out at Herzberg, fine dining with the prices to match. We were there yesterday and our daughter had reserved a table. The table in the winter garden is a high table that, in my opinion, is only given to guests to wait until their reserved table is free. The starter of asparagus cream soup was not cream soup. Quite watered down with hard pieces of asparagus in it, you had to look for ham - the overall impression was that the entire soup had no real taste. Sheep's cheese gratinated, these were cocktail tomatoes with a touch of sheep's cheese on them, everything was quite tasteless. The cutter plaice was so fried that the fish died again. The fried ham served with it is fried. At a price of 30.50 euros you should get your bowl of fried potatoes on your own and not have to share it with the people in front of you... We were very disappointed. The plaice wasn't listed on the bill, but our evening, which we were all really looking forward to, was ruined. Another postscript. If you go out for fine dining (fine dining approach) and pay high prices, you as a guest can and should expect the very best, which apparently was no longer available here that evening.
