A very idyllic beer garden in the countryside Near Wahner Heide

Great place right on the heath. Good tarte flambée and nice employees. Prices are a bit too high for self-service and when the weather is good you sometimes have to wait in line for a long time.

Great location in the forest and a great end to a hike in the Wahner Heide. Service is very friendly and the tarte flambées we ordered came quickly and were really big. Price-performance ratio is okay!

Very cozy place to stop off. After a nice hike in the Wahner Heide, a nice place to regain your strength. We prefer to sit outside under the trees on the spacious grounds. Well suited for children as they can move freely. The seats are nicely spaced out and not too close together. Beautiful to relax.

It was very busy, we waited in line for 25-30 minutes to order even though there were 3 orders taken. We were able to take the drinks with us straight away and the tarte flambée came to the table after about 10 minutes. We sat very nicely at a table on the lawn. The tarte flambée was very, very tasty 😋

The food was simply delicious - you can taste the freshness of the ingredients in every bite. We were particularly impressed by the cozy atmosphere. Here you immediately feel welcome and can wonderfully leave everyday life behind you. A perfect place to enjoy relaxed. We'll definitely be back!

A destination where we always enjoy going. All around there is this beautiful nature that invites you to take a walk. There are plenty of parking options from where you can easily reach the Heidekönig on foot. This rustic ambience, this serenity, you can come down and relax there. The staff are very friendly and helpful, the selection of food and drinks leaves nothing to be desired, is of very good quality and the price-performance ratio is balanced. I'm really happy to have such a beautiful garden restaurant nearby.

One of the most beautiful places in the heath. But shhh, it's already full enough. Everything is just right here, except the constant fear of not getting a table.

Very nice self-service restaurant. The tables are far apart and there is plenty of space. There is a sandpit for smaller children. The homemade cake is delicious and the selection of other dishes is also suitable for the restaurant.

Beautiful location in the forest. Great for families with children too. These have space to run and a sand pit including toys. So you can enjoy your time in the beautiful ambience in great weather. An absolutely worthwhile place to visit.

Actually mainly a large clearing in the forest with seating and a larger hut where you can get drinks or order tarte flambée, for example. Great when the weather is nice, especially for the family.

The location is absolutely fantastic, generous space and plenty of distance between the tables. I was here a few times last summer to take a break from gravel. Ice cream and cake are great, the tarte flambée would also be praised. Unfortunately, the coffee from the fully automatic machine is only mediocre. I also think it's a shame that some drinks are available in disposable bottles (water), which should really be managed in a more environmentally friendly way by professionals. (Update May 2024, also in response to the owner: water in 1 l disposable bottles. It's nice there this year too. :-) )

Previously a small station in the middle of the forest. With 2 tables and beer benches. Today a very popular destination on weekends, usually overcrowded. Ideal for hikers and cyclists. Lovingly designed outdoor area. nice staff. Great little things on the menu. Famous for tarte flambée and potato soup. Always worth a visit

Parking spaces are provided directly, but are a bit difficult to reach for bicycles due to the mouse path/cars The selection of dishes and drinks is surprisingly large and of top quality 👍 Opening times are just a little surprisingly tight 🙂 See you next time

The Heidekönig is always a destination for us - not just when hiking through the Wahner Heide. It's so wonderful to sit casually on the spacious lawn and enjoy the delicious food.

Very simple cuisine, but great surroundings and super nice staff

During a stopover we stopped at Heidekönig for a cool drink. Food: Unfortunately we cannot judge. We just had something to drink. The portions at the next table were of the usual size. Ambience: A beautifully spacious property. In the middle is the restaurant with a partially covered terrace. There are also a few tables on the lawn designed for different numbers of people. Service: self-service! To order, you enter the table number and the dish you want. Dishes are handed over at a stand. Conclusion: When the weather is nice, it's simply great for young and old. Dogs were there too and sat politely.

Underground service. Tarte flambée only arrived after an hour and part of the order was forgotten.

Nice and relaxed, even on Sundays. I wouldn't bring dogs with me, as there are a lot of dogs there and, depending on the dog, you probably won't get much peace and quiet with your four-legged friend. Great for children with the opportunities to play in nature. Regarding the food: Too limited for my taste, slightly French. You can't find simple dishes (fries, burgers, baked potatoes, etc.), which I think is a shame. Instead, tarte flambée, mussels, bockwurst and potato salad - as always, it's all a matter of taste and it didn't suit my taste, which doesn't mean it's not good.

Very nice beer garden! I was there on a Sunday and waited in line for about 30 minutes for two drinks. There are three doors at the drinks counter, the one on the far right had the sign "Order here" outside. Everyone then logically lined up there, with a correspondingly long line. When it was finally my turn, I asked the waitress about the long wait and that was a mistake. I was very rudely told that I could have stood in line at the other two doors, that's what they were there for. I then remarked that this should also be indicated on the sign outside, so that not everyone would line up at the first door. But it didn't help, I was the troublemaker in the eyes of the waitress and she took it personally instead of thinking about it.

Beautifully located in the middle of the green, spacious beer garden with self-service. Service is friendly and attentive and dogs are welcome here. The dishes are very tasty and the waiting times are still short. We stopped there with our almost 60 Bernese dairymen after our meeting and will definitely come back

Beautifully located and generous in terms of space between the tables. Beautiful, well-kept facility and friendly staff. The really delicious food, from soup of the day to tarte flambée to a French cheese plate with plenty of baguettes and other snacks to cake, was all great. Absolute recommendation for summer days!

Very beautiful forest location with a wonderful forest meadow. Don't forget to apply cream when the sun shines. The food on offer is sufficiently good and also tastes very good 👍. A large garden and meadow on the edge of the forest with enough space - even between the tables. Good storage space for bikes, dogs allowed. Shady places even when there is a lot of sun. Great stop after a tour through the Wahner Heide. Delicious tarte flambée...order yourself, possibly with a little waiting time, food will be brought to the table. Toilets clean.

Wir lieben die urige und herzliche Atmosphäre im Heidekönig! Die Lage ist unschlagbar und lässt sich wunderbar mit einem ausgiebigen Spaziergang in der Wahner Heide und anschließendem Einkehren im Heidekönig verbinden 😊 Man spürt und sieht vor Ort, dass das Team mit ganz viel Herz am Werk ist! Alles ist mit viel Liebe zum Detail gestaltet und so richtig schön selbstgemacht! Von selbstgemachtem Kuchen, über Flammkuchen, Suppen und anderen Snacks ist für jeden etwas dabei! Und obendrauf gibt es auch wechselnde saisonale Gerichte (wie auf dem beigefügten Foto im Herbst 2023. Lieben Dank an das Heidekönig-Team, dass ihr so einen Wohlfühlort kreiert habt und seit so vielen Jahren betreibt!

Tolle Location im NSG Wshner Heide - allerdings nur Selbstbedienung - Essen ist hervorragend - Preis-Leistungs-Verhältnis stimmt - nettes Ambiente

Schöne Location um Natur zu erleben. Schön in der Wahner Heide spazieren gehen und dann noch eine Kleinigkeit essen. Bei Regen kann man sogar auf der Terrasse sitzen. Drinnen mit Holzfeuer.

Wunderschöne Location mitten im Grünen. Zwanglose Atmosphäre mit locker verteilten Tischen und Stühle auf der großen Wiese. Spezialität des Hauses sind Flamkuchen. Absolut empfehlenswert.

Ein super Gartenlokal inmitten des schönen Waldes der Wahner Heide! Der Flammkuchen schmeckt köstlich und der leckere Tee mit frischer Minze, Ingwer und Zitrone ein Genuß! Supernette Bedienung! Ausreichende Parkplätze für die Anfahrt mit den Auto. Ein fabelhafter Ort zur Einkehr während des Wanderns in der schönen Wahner Heide!

Man sucht sich zuerst einen Tisch im Garten aus, geht dann das Essen bestellen und bekommt es dann an den Tisch gebracht. Die Getränke holt man sich selbst. Tolle Location 👍

Einfach ein toller Ort um nach einer Wanderung so richtig zu entspannen.

Wenn man das System der Gastro geblickt hat, ein schönes Plätzchen mit leckeren Speisen. Parkplatzsituatio ist allerdings katastrophal. Besser mit dem Rad oder zu Fuß anreisen.

Zu Fuss durch den Forst von Burg Wissen aus läuft man so etwa 25 Minuten, überschreitet den Mauspfad, geht den kleinen Hügel hinauf, man sieht die reichlichen Parkplätze mit Besuchern quer durch Deutschland. Oben auf dem Hügel kommen verschiedene Wege zusammen, es gibt verschiedene Formen der Gastronomie. Offen hat der Heidekrug der sehr idyllisch mit einem schönen Blick auf die Umgegend verwöhnt und reichlich Platz für Besucher hat. Selbst Service ist auch hier normal, geht aber schnell von der Hand. Der Heidekönig schließt um 19.00 Uhr, sodass abends hier kein Besuch möglich ist, dafür hat ab dann aber das Gegenüber liegende Restaurant auf. Am Wochenende sollte vorbestellt werden, um noch unter zu kommen.

Sehr schönes Gelände. Freundliche, entspannte Atmosphäre. Gute Flammkuchen. Ein Ausflug lohnt sich und so nah an der Großstadt. Gerne wieder
