Only three stars because the visit didn't feel particularly outstanding. The service was friendly but not warm, the food tasted good but wasn't anything special, and the ambiance was pleasant but unremarkable. My complaint went unanswered; there was no apology or explanation. All in all, the meal itself was satisfactory.

Nice restaurant on the Rhine, friendly service and pleasant clientele.

We had reserved a table for two at Haus Piwipp for 7 p.m. on Saturday. The welcome was very friendly, the ambiance inviting, and the location and view directly on the Rhine are simply fantastic. From the well-stocked menu, we chose the braised veal cheeks with creamed spinach and the all-time classic, Wiener Schnitzel. Switching the side dish from fries to wedges for the schnitzel was no problem. After just 10 minutes, both main courses were ready on the table. Absolutely fine for the braised dish, but unfortunately too quickly for a freshly prepared schnitzel, in my opinion. The veal cheeks (including the dark sauce) were very tasty, and the creamed spinach also tasted very good. The appearance and presentation (all in one, piled on top of each other) could perhaps be reconsidered... Unfortunately, our initial suspicions were confirmed with the schnitzel. The light, already softened breading, as well as the extremely short time between ordering and arrival at the table, suggests that the schnitzel was prepared well in advance and then simply kept warm. Unfortunately, the meat was correspondingly tough. The wedges were good restaurant quality. A portion of sauce would have cost an additional €3.50, which is unfortunately very expensive at €19.90 for the meat dish. For dessert, we were highly recommended the apple strudel with vanilla ice cream, vanilla sauce, and fresh whipped cream. Who could say no to that? The strudel was warm, very tasty (with nuts and cinnamon), the ice cream was good and creamy. The vanilla sauce was also OK. What is (in my opinion) a no-go is the whipped cream, which is unfortunately found everywhere these days. So much emphasis is placed on selecting great (and expensive) ingredients and lovingly preparing the desserts. And then you kill the taste experience with this *white horror from the bottle*.... A small Mussana whipped cream maker, fresh cream (flavored with simple syrup and vanilla...), and it's all truly delicious. And it doesn't take much effort, but the result is definitely more satisfying in terms of taste. Conclusion: Haus Piwipp is recommended, but the kitchen could perhaps rethink a few details. We'll be back at the next opportunity.... Greetings from Rhineland-Palatinate!!!

Beautiful location directly on the Rhine. Plenty of parking is available in front of the inn. We had lunch here today on a Wednesday with six people. The inn was well attended. The atmosphere was cozy and airy. The service was friendly and quick, and everyone enjoyed the food and dessert. The menu could only be a little more extensive.

We were at Haus Piwipp for a family celebration on September 14, 2025. Beautifully renovated, but retaining its old charm. The owner, Carina, and the entire staff were so friendly and accommodating, something you rarely experience these days. Thank you all for the wonderful day. The people from the Eifel region will definitely be back. The food was delicious and wonderful.

Definitely an absolute recommendation!!! The service was fantastic, with a good mood and extremely friendly. Incredibly good food, huge portions; even the children's plates were very full! They recommended calling ahead of time and reserving a table right away if they had a seat! I had one baked potato with fried mushrooms, one Rafaello cup, two coffees, and two 0.33l Cokes. The whole thing cost me about €40. I think the price is very reasonable for the excellent quality and service. If you want to drop in spontaneously, you should arrive from 11:00 AM onwards; after that, there's a long wait for free tables.

Haus Piwipp is located directly at the pier for the Puwipp boat. When the weather is nice, you can enjoy the beer garden.

Even though the food tastes perfectly fine, the prices are quite steep. Simply too expensive for a place like this. Edit: Thanks for the detailed justification and explanation of the prices. As I said, the food tasted perfectly fine. The place is nice, and a lot of money was spent. However, it will unfortunately be a luxury you can only afford once every six months. Money isn't as easy to come by anymore. A few simple dishes for the average person and a tight budget would be great. But I also understand that you don't need to as long as the place is running. Hopefully, there will be retirees with deep pockets for as long as possible. Because here, property taxes, insurance, living costs, gasoline, etc. have also increased significantly.

We were visiting and had reserved a table at Haus Piwipp. Located right on the banks of the Rhine, we were given a table in the lush beer garden. Very attentive and friendly service, lots of young people... Great! The menu featured chanterelle mushroom dishes and some interesting dishes. More than just beer garden food. I ordered ox cheeks with spinach and aligot. Wow, that was amazing. It's been a long time since I've had such a delicious dish. The flavor was perfect, the meat was tender as butter, the aligot was creamy, and everything was seasoned to perfection. I'd like to award it the sixth star for the first time. I was happy to travel 100 km from the Ruhr area for this, and it certainly won't be the last time.

We were greeted outside today by two ladies with the words: "We wish you a wonderful day" (a friendly, sincere hello would have been perfectly sufficient!) "You can choose any table, except the one with the cutlery straight ahead" (it was the only free table with a direct view of the Rhine). There was a card on it saying 1:00 PM?!? Other reviewers here write that you can't make reservations. 🤷We would have liked to sit there, but arrived shortly before 12:00 PM (the entire area was only about a third full) and left at 12:50 PM. OK, that didn't go well for us. The 0.5L wheat beer and the 0.3L shandy we ordered afterward were delicious, but the price of €9.10 was quite reasonable. But charging €7.50 and €7.90 for a potato soup starter and a portion of sweet potatoes and dip afterwards is, in my opinion, excessive for a place of this class, without question, its beer garden character. A napkin was only available upon request, and only ONE, mind you. Afterwards, around 12:55, it became uncomfortably crowded, and we were glad to leave. I wonder if the many 5-star reviews are for the same place? I don't need to go there again.

Beautiful location, also available for rent for birthdays, weddings, etc. We've been here twice now, once for a private event (a birthday) and once just for a drink. It's great to sit in beach chairs on the sand and look out at the water. The service is friendly, but it's not exactly cheap.

After a bike ride, I went to Piwipp for a drink and to satisfy my hunger. The service was very friendly and was able to offer us a seat even without a reservation. Drinks also came very quickly. The food took a while, but okay, it was also busy, so it might take 20 minutes longer. I ordered steak with chanterelle mushrooms. I requested medium rare. The service told me they'd try, okay, but at least medium was my request. The plate arrived and it looked great. I was really looking forward to the steak, then they cut it through the middle and it was cooked through. I called the service and explained the problem, that it should be at least medium, if not medium rare. The service responded immediately and took the plate away, very professional, thank you for that. After a while, the plate came back. Instead of making a new steak, the steak, which was already overcooked, was fried again and was now definitely dead. They didn't put any new fries on it either; they were cold by then. I give this dish 0 stars. I called the waiter again and told him it was completely wrong, but I was hungry and was eating it now. €34 wasted. Even the free dessert couldn't save it. The second dish was a salad with goat cheese. You can't complain here. Salad is just salad, and the goat cheese was bought in. It was charred and that's it. Hence 3 stars for the food. Furthermore, we were told right at the beginning which dishes were no longer in stock. Among other things, on that day it was jacket potatoes. It's just annoying when a table that ordered much later gets exactly that served. My wife actually wanted a potato. As I said, the service was super friendly and quick; the owner has good staff, at least on that day.

Very beautifully located on the Rhine, right next to the Piwip. Dogs are welcome. Great atmosphere and very cozy. Very friendly and attentive service; we never had to wait long and were regularly asked if everything was OK. I found the concept of having just one person to order/request more food very interesting (so I was always available), and serving and clearing was organized by the service staff. We were there with a larger group and there wasn't much to complain about. It's best to reserve in advance, as it was very busy and tables had to be pushed out for spontaneous guests. The restrooms weren't that clean, but that's due to the location, as the restaurant/beer garden is right on the Rhine and all pedestrians and cyclists are allowed to go to the toilet. Unfortunately, the burger was no longer available as it was sold out. What a shame, I would have liked to try it. Next time then.

Super friendly, attentive staff, lovely outdoor seating with such delicious food. We had herring salad with fried potatoes, salad with caramelized goat cheese, salad with chanterelle mushrooms, and the soup of the day (potato and leek soup). Highly recommended. Very dog-friendly.

For years, I've repeatedly found my way to Haus Piwipp. For Father's Day, with family and dog, or as a cycling destination. With a view of the Rhine, it's a delight to eat and drink here. Five stars because I rate this place as good, home-style dining. Highly recommended.

I highly recommend the Piwipp restaurant. I also recommend the trip across the Rhine with Piwipp rolls from there to Monheim.

Beautiful, quiet outdoor dining area right on the Rhine. Friendly service. The salads with chicken breast and roasted garlic mushrooms were delicious. I think it's better to reserve a table on weekends, as the restaurant is always busy. A good recommendation if you're exploring the beautiful surroundings of Zons and Urdenbacher Kämpe by bike.

When it's hot...the outdoor area is much too warm...there's not a breath of air. Addendum to the review from 8 years ago. Of course, you can't change the weather. I didn't award any stars back then, I just wrote based on my gut feeling. Yesterday was the day I awarded the stars. I think the 4 stars are justified. The food, which I've enjoyed many times over the past few years, is worthy of 4 stars. 5 stars would be perfect, but even Michelin-starred cuisine doesn't always achieve that. The ambiance is the same. Very nice, modern, and not too flashy or even old-fashioned. The service is actually rounded up to 5 stars. Because that's what I've come to appreciate: the speed, the friendliness, and always a smile for the guest, even when things are stressful. So, all in all, a fair rating in my eyes ;-) I'll of course happily take up the "Palmwedler" offer, a cool idea for the two hot days we're having here in Germany. The restaurant occupies a prime location on the Rhine, and the beer garden is fantastic. If you want to be on the safe side, you should make a reservation. The menu is straightforward. The food is okay, if not top-notch. The service staff make a great effort. Attentive, friendly, and super fast. Everything is under control. Now, a negative: The prices keep climbing. The portions are becoming increasingly smaller. Piwipp isn't the only restaurant with this. Almost 90% operate similarly.

Even during the week, it's hopeless without a reservation in good weather. Due to staffing shortages, the indoor area is closed when the terrace is full. Due to the terrace's perfect location directly on the Rhine, the restaurant is almost always full in warm summer weather.

Service was friendly and fast. However, the fries were greasy and dark brown, and the rump steak was very firm and watery. The salad was delicious. The drinks were excellent. The men's restroom was very dirty, with overflowing paper trash cans 🗑️, while the women's restroom was clean (according to my partner). The building's facade was not attractive; some of the plaster was missing. The atmosphere was a mix of a camping site and a beer truck. Conclusion: High prices, low quality. It's a shame, from the other side of the river, it looked promising. The ferry crossing was inexpensive and great 😊

We went there for dinner on the weekend. Everything tasted excellent and almost everything was very good. The only drawback: There are dedicated waiters for bringing food, clearing tables, and ordering drinks. I often approached the "wrong" waitress. It was annoying.

On our bike ride toward Zons, the Piwipp restaurant was our lunch destination due to the good reviews. We're happy to give it 5 stars. A fantastic secluded location on the Rhine, a lovely outdoor area, excellent food, and very friendly service. A very pleasant atmosphere!

I live in Rheinfeld and have been there several times. The food and service were excellent. I once invited my family there, and everything worked out perfectly, from the phone reservation to the timely delivery of the food. The atmosphere is fantastic anyway; I love looking out at the Rhine and watching the boats.

After a bike ride, sitting comfortably outside in the beer garden by the Rhine with a cool drink is simply lovely. The staff is very friendly and attentive. Furthermore, the glass parapet provides excellent wind protection, making it a very pleasant place to stay even when it's windy.

It's just! the ambience, which gets points. We can't rate the food because we had to wait an hour even though almost all tables were free. It was said that we would be "called", but that didn't happen. There are 6 waiters running around here, but there is certainly little turnover, with empty tables. Well, the season is just starting, maybe it's still developing.

Very nicely located restaurant that is always busy. All the employees are extremely friendly and you feel comfortable. Unfortunately, the dishes have become very clear in terms of portion size and the price-performance ratio is no longer right at all. That's a real shame and I hope that it might be economically feasible to change that - that would be very nice.

We visited this restaurant for the first time on Saturday. It's modern and a lovely spot, especially when the weather is nice. We loved the modern decor, and there's a terrace and a beach bar outside. There's a good menu, including vegetarian dishes. The staff is very friendly and helpful. We'll definitely be back.
