Very tasty food, which could be made even better. The Mouse de Schokolate was a chocolate cream, the medalions were too dry.

Welcoming place with friendly service. There is plenty of space to eat outside. A playground and lawn in the immediate vicinity makes everything suitable for families.

Friendly and courteous service. The food was really tasty (schnitzel with mushroom sauce) and the prices were okay for the location. We'd love to come back.

We are staying here with a small group and enjoy the surroundings by cycling with an e-bike! Great place to go on holiday!

We took a short break here on our bike tour and had a great vegan snack. It was very tasty and the vegan selection was particularly nice.

Located close to Lake Kemnader, approximately 300 meters from the P4 parking lot and therefore easy to reach on foot. Beautiful, spacious and covered terraces with a beautiful view. From here you can walk around Lake Kemnader in about 2.5 hours. If you like rollerblading or cycling, you can also do this with your own lanes for the bikes/inliners.

Schnitzel with fries without salad and without ketchup without mayo was quite good, but unfortunately far too expensive at 16.90 euros for the very small portion, which was really lost on a huge plate. Sorry. My neighbor's burger was also very small and, as I found out, was probably the same and for 20 euros. Other restaurants offer a much better price-performance ratio. Too bad.

Update August 28, 2024 Sat outside for dinner. Schnitzel with fries and penne with goulash. We had nothing to complain about in terms of taste. Only: mayo and ketchup for an additional 0.90 euros each are pretty steep. Went there for breakfast on Saturday morning. Attention: Breakfast only until 11.30 a.m. We were there at 11:35 but still got something. We thought the scrambled eggs were pretty good and we were otherwise satisfied, even if the rolls weren't a particular highlight. 🙂

After a 20km hike in your legs, a good place for a Hefeweizen. Service excellent. I can't say anything about the inside because I was only in the beer garden.

Went there again after years and we felt very comfortable. Nice to sit, food is OK, friendly service and a great toilet facility for guests with walkers, we'll be happy to come back.

Since we were just looking at the menu, we couldn't answer the question about what to order. As it turns out, that was a mistake. After more than 20 minutes we still hadn't ordered. Since we were now ignored by the waitress. Sorry, that doesn't work at all. Especially since two ladies at the neighboring table ordered it immediately. They just knew what they wanted.

So we give it 4.5 stars. We limit ourselves to the location, the service and the food because we cannot judge the rest. It is common knowledge that prices have risen everywhere and you are certainly paying something for the very beautiful location. We therefore believe that a price discussion here is superfluous, especially since the prices have to be checked in advance. The food is absolutely enough to fill you up and also tastes perfect. We can't share the chip shop comparisons here elsewhere. If necessary, the food could be presented/served a little more adequately. A decoration here and there wouldn't hurt. It's debatable about the jars for the side salad, it's not my thing and I would like a different presentation. We've been here more often now and the service has always been quick and friendly, most recently just yesterday. Let's get to the location and yesterday. The location is very, very nice, you can see it at any time using the image search. But what doesn't work at all, and I come to lunch yesterday, is that a craftsman is laying cables above - while guests are dining - and using tables as storage and sawing on them. [Solvent/glue?] was also used, which of course smelled and spoiled yesterday's impression and well-being. Something like this shouldn't be the case and has to be solved differently. I don't need that when I'm eating.

Unfortunately, even after waiting for 20 minutes, we weren't served. It wasn't too crowded. The waitress walked past you several times. Finally we got up and went to another restaurant.

We had to wait a long time for service; guests who came later but sat closer to the entrance/exit were served sooner. The apple cake has very large apple slices, pretty carelessly topped.

A great restaurant right on the lake

Restoration review only! Disclaimer: it's my personal opinion, you are free to form your own. Had a dinner on a terrace in a company of about ten colleagues. I ordered: chicken breast with veggies and potatoes as a main dish, vanilla ice cream with whipped cream and hot cherry sauce as dessert and an Irish coffee as a drink. The main dish, despite being correctly cooked, didn't taste good at all: flavors were dull and separated one from another. Ice cream had many water ice granules in it and lacked milky flavor and texture. Cherries of the sauce weren't fresh despite the recent cherry season and had a touch of amaretto in it (wasn't stated in the menu and I wouldn't have ordered it if I knew in advance since I dislike it). For the coffee, as it was delivered well before the ice cream, was already cold when I started drinking it. It was very strong, much stronger than expected. One of my colleagues ordered a schnitzel with French fries and a cheesecake. There were two large schnitzels for one portion but their meat was thin (I believe, 3 mm thick) and the flour layer around the meat from each side was about the same thickness as the meat itself. The cheesecake however was really flavorful, creamy and well balanced, the best position in our selection of the menu. Overall, the dish sizes I've seen are large, sometimes even a bit overboard. However, for the average taste that you get it feels quite underwhelming and overpriced. At the same time the ingredients seem to be that of quality – I am genuinely disappointed and perplexed as of why it was't really tasty. It surely fills you up but no pleasure is gained in the process. Servers acted indifferent towards customers and their service was repeatedly inaccurate. One man's main dish was made with chicken instead of pork and the man was denied the replacement when asked for it. When serving the hot drinks, whipped cream was forgotten on two drinks. Also the service is rather slow but that is understandable as they are three-ish waiters for almost a hundred tables. Just keep that in mind. In the grand total my impression was rather negative, I am not eating here again. The place feels unwelcoming due to the service and the food is overpriced for such dull taste.

4 euros (!) for a liter of “Bochum crane water” is a real outrage. Tip: The water from the tap in the toilet is lukewarm 😉

We had a room here for a few days, nicely furnished, but the beds take a bit of getting used to, and unfortunately there's no air conditioning either. Otherwise very chic and also in the restaurant, staff friendly and accommodating. The boss was also very nice. The food was also very tasty and fresh. If we come to Bochum again, we will visit this location again.

We were there for work. A large parking lot outside, then you had to walk down the mountain. There were only disabled parking spaces at the house, which you were only allowed to drive into. Outside area to sit and cozy corners. The food wasn't well received, just like the Pepsi. We had a buffet with currywurst, sliced ​​meat, potato wedges and pasta casserole and a bowl of salad. Had to wait over an hour for the food to go into the warming container.

I was there today with my daughter and we were happy about the vegan offer. The vegan burger was an A and the currywurst was also very good, then there was a vegan ice cream from "I am love" without cream (a shame), which was also very good. We'll be back because of the vegan offerings. The waitress was friendly and a good atmosphere. The only point of criticism is the price, for which there is a star deduction: €21 for a vegan burger with fries is definitely too much.

We always enjoy visiting the Overey house. The great beer garden is simply great and the staff is always very friendly and attentive = simply recommended. Always happy to have coffee and waffles!! We will be back !!

I can't rave enough about my visit with you! Haus Oveney not only offers a beautiful, large outdoor area directly on Lake Kemnader, but also an interior that is stylish and cozy at the same time. As soon as you enter you immediately feel at home. The food was simply delicious! Every bite was a pleasure, and the price-performance ratio is really fair. Particularly noteworthy is the attentive care provided by Anne Behrenbeck and her team. They really did a top job and always tried to make sure we felt completely comfortable. The location directly on Lake Kemnader is of course a dream. The view and the atmosphere ensure total relaxation and a holiday feeling, even if you only wanted to go on a short trip. Overall, I can fully recommend Haus Oveney. Whether for a romantic dinner for two, a family outing or a celebration – you are always in good hands here. I'm already looking forward to my next visit!

We rediscovered the restaurant today and found it very inviting. We sat in the beer garden on the lawn. Nicely located near the lake. We also have a large terrace on the house. The food was very tasty. We decided on the schnitzel of the month. We recommend. What I thought was a great idea. The card is also on a folding stand and is printed on both sides so that both sides of the table can read it. The staff is very friendly and we didn't have to wait long. Inside is a bright cozy atmosphere made up of modern and antique accents. We will be back definitely. Unfortunately I can't say anything about the rooms. Didn't stay overnight.

One star too many. Currywurst fries cost over €18, too expensive for this poor quality, the food was cold. The bratwurst and sauce that came with it were not tasty. A chef didn't do that. A pity!

We were just in the cafe. It is beautifully located next to a small waterfall on the Ruhr. The outside patio was sunny and right on the river. The industrial culture ambience rounds off the beautiful place in an interesting way. It is definitely a good location for a big celebration.

You should be very careful on the weekend... cyclists who don't use the extra bike path... it's a shame.

Very nicely located near the Kemnader reservoir. The service was friendly and the food was delicious.

I visited the hotel not as an overnight guest, but as a guest in the restaurant. The prices are very high in my opinion. For example, a schnitzel with fries costs €16.50, plus €390 for a sauce, a currywurst with fries costs €13.90 plus mayonnaise, and a beer costs €5.90. For me as a restaurant visitor it is not recommended.

Always good for a break on warm days

I always enjoy being here. I haven't stayed here yet so I can't say anything about it. The service is awesome. I come along the path and have House Overey in front of me on the right. The large lawn opposite the restaurant is wonderful and offers a wonderful view of the surrounding area but also of the house. I like to sit on the terrace to the left of the house. It was wonderful last night and the house was full. I ate and drank something while sitting on the terrace and had some peace and quiet. There was a raffle in the house The evening was very nice. The breakfast buffet on public holidays is not worth it at all!!! For €30 you get a super small selection of food. Service also very bad.

I was there for the breakfast buffet. It was not at all clear what price had to be paid. We paid €30 for a standard buffet. Rolls, eggs, sausages, salmon, cheese, etc. At such a price I would have imagined something different and really expected a lot more. The staff were nice except the waiter who served us. I had the feeling they didn't want to serve us, so we ordered fewer drinks that were included in the price. Recommendation: don't go to the holiday buffet. It's not worth it for €30. Maybe the normal €16 buffet is better (?).

Loveless... ok little schnitzel with fries for Mother's Day for 13.90 euros just too expensive. I would have liked a tomato and a dalat leaf as decoration. The price-performance ratio is not right. I took the sour cream sauce from my mother and it wasn't there

Warning about the asparagus quiche with salad for €10.90!!! It's a mini quiche, actual diameter: 5-6 cm, plus a mini amount of green salad, that's it!! That's what I call a profit margin! Overall, the portions here are not enough to fill you up and the price-performance ratio is not appropriate. The burger for €20(!!!) with a few dry fries without any sauce, mayo or ketchup defies description. Nice location, but unfortunately never again…

Great and delicious food. Not cheap, but the location makes up for it. Located directly on Lake Kemmader and can be used as a great place to stop for a break during walks, hikes or bike rides.

A great location with plenty of space! There is also a parking lot nearby, and of course the restaurant is very busy! There are seats inside but also a large outdoor area! There is also space to linger on the meadow! Beer from Prague or Hövels is available on tap to enjoy on site! Of course we had schnitzel and it was a dream! What I really liked was that you could choose between a small portion and a large one (two schnitzels)! There is also seasonal food here, as well as ice cream and cake! All around very good!

The menu didn't appeal to us at all. The dessert we ordered was forgotten. You can sit outside with your dog, service was ok.

Delicious food and top service. What I personally thought was great was the small dog menu with snacks for the four-legged friend. We were at peace and will come back.

Wir waren zum 'Polnischen Abend' vor Ort und positiv sind die Freundlichkeit der Mitarbeitenden und das Essen zu benennen. Leider war der Rest des Programms weniger erfreulich. Die Besitzerin des Restaurants trug mehrere polnische Gesangsstücke vor - ohne polnisch sprechen zu können und (Verzeihung) auch noch krumm und schief. Zwischen den Stücken wurden Fakten über Polen vorgelesen, ohne Veranschaulichung oder über Wikipedia hinausgehender Tiefe. Die Mehrzahl der handvoll Gäste war polnischer Abstammung, so dass sie natürlich über den aufgrund der Aussprache unverständlichen Text amüsiert waren. Vielleicht wäre es sinnvoll gewesen, jemanden zu engagieren, der tatsächlich polnisch spricht, sich mit dem Land auskennt oder zumindest singen kann. So hatte es mehr von einem Schulreferat zweier Deutscher, die ihre fehlende Expertise mit einer schwachen musikalischen Einlage überspielen wollen. Das wäre für einen Abend aushaltbar gewesen, aber keinesfalls für 54€ pro Gast. Insgesamt kann man im Haus Oveney anständig essen, von den "Events" ist jedoch deutlich abzuraten!

We had a family celebration in Haus Overey and felt very comfortable. The entire service was great! We were well advised, served in a very friendly and attentive manner, the food was delicious, all in all a successful stay, would happily come back!!

The location of the restaurant is very nice. But that was about it. On a beautiful sunny day we actually wanted to have a nice, comfortable meal. After looking at the menu, I saw the prices and actually thought that I would get something for it. None. Less than 5 minutes had passed before the schnitzels arrived. Completely carelessly placed on the table by a waiter. The portion is really small for the money. Loveless on the plate. I just expect more from a restaurant. Otherwise I can go to a chip shop...

The second star is only because of the location. So the price-performance ratio isn't right at all. I didn't like it, it's a shame...

Unfortunately not a nice experience. Steak absolutely not as requested. No adjustment of staff. Lemons full of seeds. The ouzo was something else. Waitress not very competent. In this price range you can expect more than food like in a chip shop. A pity....

I was with my girlfriend at Haus Oveney on Lake Kemnader "Flamenco Dinner - In the light of the miner's lamp" on March 1st, 2024. The Oveney house gets 5 stars from me! 👌 We really enjoyed the demonstrations 💃, the guitar 🎸 player, the owner's lectures about mining in Andalusia and the Ruhr area. At the end we all sang the “Steigerlied” together.😀 The food 🍽🍷 "Three-course menu and the Rioja red wine, the service - the young lady in training, the restaurant manager, the temporary help - everything was great. We had nice conversations with the owner in between and overall felt very comfortable. The “Haus Oveney” is highly recommended. We'd love to come back! Best regards

Cozy restaurant with friendly staff and delicious food.

Simple, delicious cuisine in a very nice guest room. The Valentine's dinner with live music was very cozy and nice, which is largely due to the really nice owner who invests a lot of energy and strength, which is rounded off by the nice team in the background. We felt very comfortable☺️

We ordered the seasonal schnitzel. Schnitzel with crockettes and salad. Delicious.

Actually 4.5 stars, because in my opinion a side salad (cucumber/tomato/iceberg/etc.) would have completed the dish. Otherwise the fries were crispy and the schnitzel was crispy. In terms of price, it's okay so far. The service was attentive. Nice, cozy atmosphere. The toilets are clean and quite modern. The lake invites you to take a walk at the end or beforehand.

Das Essen war gut, das Personal sehr freundlich und sehr Kinderlieb. Was unschön war, war der Hund am Nachbartisch auf dem Stuhl sitzend und die Schnauze liegend auf dem Tisch - nicht jedermanns Sache!

Auf der letzten Fahrradtour, haben wir hier Pause gemacht und sehr leckeren Kuchen gegessen. Super Location.

Gute Küche und freundliche Atmosphäre

Leider keine Empfehlung für das Frühstück/Brunch-Buffet. Es war eine sehr spartanische Auswahl. Wir waren leider sehr unzufrieden, und mussten knapp 20€ pro Person zahlen.

Wir waren dort gestern Kegeln, und haben Essen auf der Bahn genießen dürfen. Anders als üblich befand sich die Bahn nicht im Keller! Man kam sich nicht wie weggesperrt vor. Die Bedienung war ausgesprochen freundlich, zügig, immer wieder präsent um nach weiteren Wünschen zu fragen. Insgesamt sind die Räumlichkeiten großzügig gehalten, außerordentlich sauber! Die Portion des Essens sind den Preis entsprechend, ich denke wir wurden alle nicht enttäuscht und sind gut satt geworden. Neben den Speisen auf der Karte gibt es immer wieder wochenaktionen die schon vor dem Bestellvorgang fachgerecht präsentiert worden sind. Ich für meinen Teil kann nur sagen: ich komme gerne wieder

Die Speisen sind relativ einfach gehalten, dafür aber lecker. Gut, um nach einem Spaziergang um die Kemnade, dort einzukehren.

Im Haus Oeveney lässt es sich wunderbar die Pause beim Spaziergang um den Kemnader See verbringen oder aber auch in größerer Gesellschaft für Familienfeste einkehren! Ebenso bieten die Sommermonate beste Gelegenheit, draußen an den Tischen zu verweilen und am Freizeitleben der Bochumer, Wittener und Angereister teilzuhaben. Der Service ist überaus freundlich, die Speisen sind frisch und lecker, eigentlich gibt es keinen Grund, das Haus Oeveney nicht zu besuchen!

Unser Kollegenstammtisch hat sich richtig wohlgefühlt, wir hatten drei Tische für uns, so das wir viel Spass miteinander hatten und uns auch hören konnten ;-) . Es gab gutes Essen in angemessener Preislage. Auch unsere Vegetarier waren gut bedient. Die Bedienung war freundlich, schnell und unaufdringlich. Wr einfach prima. Danke an Anne und ihr Team

Die Lage des Restaurants ist sehr schön. Unsere Bestellung konnte leider nicht umgesetzt werden, da sich die Küche wohl weigerte die Beilagen nach Kundenwunsch zu ändern. Das Schnitzel schmeckte säuerlich und roch als wäre es vielleicht mit Fisch frittiert worden. Die Bratkartoffeln schienen auch frittiert worden zu sein, somit konnte uns das Essen nicht überzeugen. Das Schnitzel wurde aber zurückgenommen und nicht berechnet. Zum Kaffee und Kuchen würden wir wohl wiederkommen.

Wir waren zum französischen Abend "Rue de la Chanson" im Haus Oveney. Da wir früh dort waren, hatten wir noch Zeit, einen Spaziergang am Kemnader See zu machen. Anschließend wurden wir mit den anderen Gästen von dem charmanten Duo (Sängerin und Musiker) begrüßt. Sie boten Chansons dar und präsentierten interessante Informationen zu den Liedern aber auch über Frankreich und vor allem die Bretagne. Die anderen Gäste und wir wurden sogar mit Mitsingen (Kanon) und Tanzen animiert. Zwischen den Chansons wurde ein tolles Drei-Gänge-Menü mit passenden Getränken serviert. Es herrschte eine lockere Atmosphäre, in der es genügend Gelegenheit gab, sich zu unterhalten und Zweisamkeit zu genießen. So ging der kurzweilige Abend sehr schnell um. Es war sehr schön!

Sehr freundliches Personal,viel Auswahl an Speisen sowie kleine Snacks für unsere Fellnasen,die übrigens mit ins Restaurant dürfen..Wir werden auf jeden Fall wiederkommen..LG und bleibt wie ihr seid...
