Haus Hamacher in Gangelt

Well-attended as always on Sunday. Food was delicious.

We celebrated a large birthday at Haus Hamacher and were unfortunately disappointed in several ways. Even the champagne reception was very unprofessional: each glass had to be counted individually and refilled, so some guests didn't receive a glass at all initially. A proper, friendly welcome definitely looks different. The subsequent drinks reception was also very chaotic and poorly organized. There was a lack of oversight, the staff seemed overwhelmed, and the service was neither smooth nor welcoming. However, the catering was particularly disappointing. The amount of food provided was far too small for the size of our party. Several guests received only small portions or had to forgo certain dishes entirely. This is absolutely unacceptable for an event that was planned and booked in advance. Overall, Haus Hamacher failed to impress us that evening, both in terms of organization and catering. Therefore, we would not recommend this restaurant for a large celebration where a smooth event is essential.

We were at the restaurant's snack stand last night. We each ordered a Wiener Schnitzel with croquettes and a Bernaise Schnitzel with fries. Unfortunately, it wasn't what it should have been. The Wiener Schnitzel only came with six croquettes, and the schnitzels tasted of old grease. For almost €25, I'd expect something different. The restaurant didn't even include salad. You had to pay extra for everything. And then the chef worked without gloves. Unfortunately, I can't recommend it.

Great, also the staff, but don't come for dinner on Fridays at 6.30pm because that's when it's busiest!!!

Always delicious food. I always get the steak, and it's always cooked perfectly, just the way I like it. I haven't had it better anywhere else.

We were at the restaurant with seven people. The reservation was easy, the service was attentive and friendly, and the food was delicious. I especially like the fact that you can customize your own side dishes. The food arrived at the same time and everyone enjoyed it.

The food was quite tasty and the portion was okay. But I had to wait way too long for the food. About 30 minutes for three special fries.

The restaurant is a bit dated. The food was perfectly fine and came quickly, especially with a group like that all at once. Unfortunately, the service wasn't that great. We were there last Saturday. It was a warm, sunny day after a long absence, and, like everywhere else, there's probably a staff shortage. But you should still remain friendly and not roll your eyes when guests order something, or do it in a way that makes it hard to see. We'll still come back and hope it's better the second time.

Well, I remembered it being better. Unfortunately, we were disappointed yesterday. The salad plate was poorly prepared, and the main course, two schnitzels, was run-of-the-mill.

The price-quality ratio is always excellent. It might not be the most romantic spot for dinner, but the food is always good and the prices are still very reasonable.

A nice generous quality meal, normal prices and also good price for the drinks, good attention from the staff even when it was busy.

We had the "cat table" on the terrace. First, we had to ask the waitress for the menu. The side salad arrived fairly quickly, but was rather poorly prepared, and salad dressing was only available in certain places. The food was okay, both in terms of taste and preparation time. We would have liked something to drink. Unfortunately, there was no such thing. I got some water from the restroom. We then paid. You'd die of thirst here.

Schnitzels are very good, for German standards a bit on the small side. Small salad also nothing wrong with it, side dishes fries not good I think 3 or 4 times fried were really rock hard. Price is very high, maybe a bit too inspired by the idiotic Dutch prices? Service and service sublime otherwise. Because of the price, the small schnitzel and the very bad fries this was a one-off for us.

I've been coming to you for several years. On Whit Sunday 2025, I was unfortunately a little disappointed. I entered the restaurant around 1:40 p.m. There were plenty of free tables. I quickly found a seat. There were (once again) a lot of waiters in the restaurant. The service staff was milling around. Sometimes four, five, or six of them were standing idly in a corner. Okay, I must emphasize, the service staff is always very friendly and helpful. My order was taken around 1:45 p.m. The drink came very quickly. After a good quarter of an hour, the salad that came with the main course arrived. Unfortunately, it wasn't as I had ordered. It took five minutes for me to inform my server of the mistake. Then came the wait for my main course: pork medallions in curry cream sauce with French fries. Nothing exciting. But I waited and waited. My food arrived around 2:45 p.m. I waited an hour for a simple dish. There was not a word of apology. As already mentioned, the restaurant wasn't very busy. But it was full of staff, constantly running back and forth. One time with a beer in hand, the other time with a plate. An hour-long wait is unacceptable. That's why I'm giving it 3 stars. Because the service staff is very friendly. My final tip was appropriate. (The bill was €27.90, I gave €30.00) 😳🤐🥺

Very large selection of food, cakes, ice cream and drinks

Always friendly service, very tasty food. The only negative point I have is that it's sometimes very noisy inside. The house is often visited by Dutch neighbors, often in groups, and they are unfortunately always very loud. However, you can sit outside in a very pleasant setting, surrounded by greenery, and it's usually very quiet. They serve good, home-style cooking, and everything I've eaten so far has been very tasty. I recommend it.

It's not really acceptable. Everything is swimming in far too much fat. The fried potatoes aren't crispy and are greasy. The schnitzel has a hard, nasty, and thick crust, also bathed in fat. The sauce is from a packet, but reasonably good. The salad is sparse and wilted. About 3mm of dripping, unappealing, and unnecessary fat remains on the entire plate. Just look at the plates that come back; that excess fat should give even the worst cook pause. Get well soon!

Dieser Laden ist eigentlich den einen Stern noch nicht wert. Es sollte ein geselliger Abend werden. Mein Getränk bekam ich erst nach zweimaliger Nachfrage, obwohl die 14 Anderen bereits ihr Getränk hatten, und wir gemeinsam anstoßen wollten (toller Service ☹️). Da ich leider eine Lebensmittelallergie habe, habe ich als letztes bestellt. Ich habe gezielt nachgefragt, ob die Hähnchenbrust mit Curry-Sauce wirklich geht. Wenn nicht, würde ich als Alternative nur Bratkartoffeln essen. Dies wurde von mir 3x betont. Man wollte in der Küche nachfragen. Da ich keine negative Rückmeldung bekommen habe, freute ich mich auf das Essen. Alle 14 Anderen hatten bereits ihr Essen vor sich und waren zur Hälfte fertig, als der Service zu mir kam. Es hätte ein Mißverständnis in der Küche gegeben, ich würde die Curry-Sauce nicht bekommen, da sie mit Mehl angebunden ist. Ob man mir Kräuterbutter zur Hähnchenbrust reichen soll???? Ich hatte 3x erwähnt, wenn das Gericht nicht geht, nehme ich eine Portion Bratkartoffeln!!!! Da die Hähnchenbrust aber einfach für mich unpaniert gebraten wurde, musste ich sie nehmen (super Geschäftspolitik). Ein Schelm ist, wer sich Böses dabei denkt 😈. Ich musste dann die totgebratene, furztrockene Hähnchenbrust mit einer Scheibe Dosenananas und einer halben Dosenpfirsich essen🤢🤢🤢. Abgerechnet wurde für dieses „fürstliche Mahl“ 15,90€. Diese grenzenlose Inkompetenz, Unfähigkeit und Frechheit ist nicht mehr zu überbieten. Wenn man komplett verarscht werden möchte, ist man im „Haus Hamacher“ genau richtig!

We have eaten at Haus Hamacher several times and, as always, we were impressed. The food was really good, especially the gourmet schnitzel – super tasty, super tender and beautifully seasoned. You can tell that the cooking here is made with love. The service was friendly and attentive, and the whole restaurant has a pleasant, cozy atmosphere. We felt completely at home and will definitely come back!

We didn't take any photos. We had the grill plate, unfortunately my meat was burnt and tasted like that, a mini piece of meat loaf, a mini end piece of sausage, then a mini piece of something strange that was supposed to be chicken and not a fillet that was fried through and black from the bottom. Kreuter butter was frozen. The fries were delicious. If there is less meat on it, the quality should at least be perfect. Service, very friendly but didn't respond to our criticism and didn't smile away.

Haus Hamacher is always well attended and the food tastes very good.

Unfortunately, I'm quite disappointed with my second visit. We went out to eat with four people about 2-3 weeks ago, and I have to say that for some reason that day, the portions were very small. Three out of four people had fries with their dishes, which were served to us in a bowl. I personally don't like it. Besides, the food was already less than the first time, and the fries were small. I changed the sauce for my dish and asked beforehand if it had mushrooms in it. A young waiter answered "no," but then there were some afterward. That simply shouldn't happen. I also wonder if you have to specify where you want to sit when making a reservation, because again we were seated right in the middle, even though there are such great spots right when you first walk in. Unfortunately, we won't be coming back, even though we were so satisfied the first time.

Carnavalsbuffet....bekend, wij komen zelf met familie al 35 jaar naar dit restaurant! Dit jaar met de vriendengroep ons jaarlijkse Carnavalsetentje hier gehad.. gewoon een aanrader....lekkere dingen om uit te proberen in buffetvorm....heerlijke en goed verzorgde gerechten...en voor een heerlijk biertje ben je hier op het juiste adres...het is hier mooi betaalbaar...goed verzorgd en sfeervol.....groet Vico

Despite having a reservation, we waited almost 2 hours for food. With older people it was just an imposition. We waited in vain for an apology. There was no greeting from the kitchen or anything like that. The food was ok, nothing special, the service was smart. At least we always had drinks. The restaurant had clearly taken far too many reservations for its capabilities. The hall in which we were seated was far too crowded and incredibly loud. The furniture is at least 30 years old and very dated. For us it's clear: never again.

It is sad that it is stated that Haus Hamacher is open until 11 p.m. on weekends. When we arrived at the restaurant shortly before 10 p.m. to have a drink, the waitress looked at us as if she had seen a ghost. The message came straight away: The kitchen is closed. We were aware of that too and told her that we just wanted something to drink. But since she had to ask her colleague first, we left! If I no longer want to serve guests or make money, I should lock the doors. Unfortunately, this is not the first time that Haus Hamacher has attracted negative attention in this regard. The employees aren't the friendliest either. We have also been waiting in vain for weeks for an email from Mr. Wüllenweber regarding free appointments at the bowling alley. Unfortunately, 'customer is king' is out of place here.

We live 1.5 hour away but gladly drive here to eat. Food is so traditional, great. Housemade. They adjust easily for different diet restrictions. Service is fab. Cozy relaxng place. Everything we have glad so far is tasty, super good. We will keep coming as long as it stays like this. Thank you Haus Hamacher🤗

Delicious food as usual, but it has become expensive

Unfortunately, if you eat at the weekend it can take an hour before you get the food served, during the week if you sat outside it went faster.

After not having been there for years, I happened to try it again and went around Christmas. Typical German eatery (several variants of schnitzel, meat and fish, bratkartoffeln, etc., on the menu) with good portions and tasty dishes. Simply good food for a fair price.

I ate the mixed grill at Haus Hamacher and it was simply good. Everything was well prepared and nicely seasoned, with no frills. Not a highlight, but definitely a solid choice for a relaxed meal.

Nice location on the Kahnweier. Food was good. We liked it.

Restaurant with little atmosphere. On the other hand, the food is delicious. Extensive3 menu. Smooth friendly service. Close to hiking area, Wohnmobil Stellplatz, boating lake and open pool (summer). Parking in the immediate vicinity.

We were there for the Christmas party with work. The staff was overwhelmed and couldn't keep up with the orders. The food was okay, but not so much that you think “woah, you have to go there again next year” and the atmosphere was very old-fashioned. The staff was very friendly and always tried hard, but simply too few staffed.

A normal restaurant where you can eat well, average middle-class food, service seems uncertain at times, just like the cook or boss who pours himself a beer during working hours instead of sending the food out more quickly, or you make a little more effort the way it is served or the taste, for example. Salad is great, otherwise totally normal, we trust you.

Went for dinner with 7 adults and 4 kids. My choice is limited due to my stomach reduction. Ideal for a schnitzel lover, but understood that their schnitzel was very thick and smaller than what they are used to from a German portion. I opted for scampi skewer, but in my opinion it was made from a lot of oil. The few fries I ate tasted good. Wanted to grab an ice cream, but the ice cream did not match what is shown in the picture. There was no sauce with the children's ice cream, although this was done, after which the kids did not like the ice cream at all. After asking for a new ice cream because of the sauce, the employee wanted to start a discussion, but after we showed it on the menu, the kids got a new ice cream. Much less “decorated”. Not really recommended for me to go again.

As always, very crowded. Table reservation necessary. Bad air in the room. Long wait for the food, BUT the price/service list is good. The staff remains friendly despite the stress.

Being able to sit in the sun. What more could you want?

Wir sind vom Wohnmobil Stellplatz zum Essen rüber gelaufen. Wir wurden sehr freundlich begrüßt und auch unser Hund war willkommen. Wir haben uns für die Grillplatte für 2 Personen entschieden ( 52 € ) und wir waren vollkommen zufrieden. Es waren verschiedene Beilagen auf der Platte, 3 Sorten Fleisch, Gemüse und eine Salatbeilage vorweg. Das Essen war alles sehr lecker. Das Personal bestand an diesem Abend aus recht jungen Servicekräften, die einen guten Job gemacht haben. Freundlich, aufmerksam und sehr nett. Das einzige, was ich bemängeln kann, ist das Erdinger alkoholfrei. Das schmeckt einfach nicht. Ist aber Geschmackssache. Auch Essen zum mitnehmen wird angeboten, wenn man lieber am Wohnmobil essen möchte.

Today we ate at Haus Hamacher for the first time and in short: Delicious! The food was absolutely delicious, the service smooth and very friendly. Everything was well taken care of and the price-quality ratio was completely in balance. Highly recommended!

The schnitzels were very good, but the hunter's sauce was reminiscent of cafeteria sauce and the champions were from a can! The service was very good! Almost tore everything out again! You may also want to look at the glasses before filling them.

It's not a culinary highlight now. The sauces and mashed potatoes are out of the bag. The vegetables are mixed and frozen. Which I don't think is bad in itself, but it's not a particularly tasty frozen vegetable. It was too chewy for me too. But despite everything, you can't complain because it's unbeatably cheap for today's times. You can also get snacks in the restaurant and can only eat fries. But we felt very comfortable because one service was nicer than the other. We were always asked promptly if we wanted something to drink. Top! I would go again to try other dishes. Thanks to the staff, the feel-good factor was very high for us. Ice cream was very tasty and fries too.
