HANS IM GLÜCK Burgergrill in Mainz

Unfortunately disappointing – no feedback, no food, money gone I placed a pickup order from Hans im Glück in Mainz via Uber Eats on Rose Monday. The amount was debited directly from Paypal and I made my way to the restaurant - only to find a note on the door saying the restaurant was closed due to technical problems. I was unable to get my money back through either Uber Eats or PayPal - both refer to the respective provider. I then contacted Hans im Glück twice by email and asked for a refund, but have not received any response to date. Conclusion: I paid but did not receive my food or experience any form of customer service. This is not the way to treat paying guests - especially if you are responsible for the mistake. Very disappointing.

Delicious Staff, and very good Burgers

The tables outside are an imposition if you wear light-colored clothing. The tables are soaked with grease, so if you swipe your finger across the table you'll get a shiny finger. The service was very nice and attentive. What needs to be questioned is the price-performance ratio. 8 euros for medium tasty fries.

Disappointing experience – never again! Unfortunately, our visit to this restaurant was a disaster. The food was served mixed up and the side dishes were mixed up so we didn't get what we ordered. In addition, the table set, including the wooden bench, was completely smeared with oil and grease. Our clothes took on the strong smell of grease and we could hardly get rid of it. An absolutely unpleasant experience - we will definitely never eat here again! If you want to claim I wasn't there. The tables were freshly painted and most of the tables were not usable. Just disgusting.

Oh man. The service is incredibly slow, and you can practically see that she'd rather be anywhere else. She speaks extremely quietly, braids her hair while ordering, and generally doesn't feel like interacting with customers. Sure, this isn't fast food, but waiting this long for a coffee...

We wanted to have a burger with a drink. We were given a seat outside and after 20 minutes (!) also the menu. After 40 (!!!) minutes of ordering, I asked when I could expect the burger. I was told that there were only three people in service and only one man in the kitchen. A few minutes later the burger arrived... after almost exactly an hour. COLD !!! I was really angry. So I gave the waiter the money for the drink and told her that the burger was cold. She removed it from the bill without any problems away. I will never go there again.

We had reserved a table, but had to clean it ourselves and get cutlery and napkins from the neighboring table. The service was friendly, but we had to ask to be able to order. (Some guests at neighboring tables had to wait a long time before they could even order..., others left again.) The food came so staggered that the first ones were already finished when the others got their food. (There were only four of us and we didn't order any elaborate dishes.) Two meals were not what we ordered, a salad and the bread were definitely not fresh, especially the mushrooms. We had to ask for the bill twice. All in all, our last visit there.

The service is very slow! We waited 20 minutes to order and almost 40 minutes for the waitress to bring us the drinks!

Our burgers were cold when they arrived at our table. The fries lukewarm. We were very disappointed even though we had received a replacement.

You enter the restaurant and you immediately notice several certificates that certify that the restaurant has “Best Service”. We have to vehemently object to the quality seal. We had to ask three different waiters that we would be happy to take our order. Every time we were ignored and told off with “I’ll be right back”. None of the staff felt responsible for us. In the end we had to be served by a lady who was actually responsible for coordinating the waiters. We had already visited several Hans im Glück in the Federal Republic and had without exception had good experiences. But the service here is catastrophic and cannot be easily excused with a “shortage of staff”.

Very good food as in every Hans im Glück, but afterwards I noticed that the bill was wrong. Instead of €19 (common price + lunch menu) the bill was €20.50.

We and my husband reserved a table for 9:30 p.m. We arrived at 9:28 p.m. and were immediately informed that the kitchen was only open until 9:30 p.m. - even though the website stated a longer opening time. We ordered quickly, but after 40 minutes we were asked to pay. We asked about the restaurant's opening hours and was confirmed that according to the website it is open until 1am on Saturdays. We were told that the waiter's shift was ending, but the restaurant would remain open. But just 10-15 minutes later we were informed that the restaurant was closing. This completely ruined our mood and the evening. It was a very unpleasant experience and we would not like to visit this restaurant again nor recommend it to anyone.

The food was really tasty and the service was really on the ball. The drinks we ordered were delivered incorrectly, but they tried to buy back our favor with a round of warm schnapps. Running….

Just great! The Hans im Glück in Mainz not only has a great ambience and delicious burgers, but above all first-class service. The wait staff was incredibly friendly, attentive and made us feel welcome from start to finish. Despite the house being full, we were served quickly and with a smile – exactly how you would hope! The drink recommendation was top, the food came quickly and was perfectly prepared. We felt completely comfortable and will definitely come back. Thank you for the great evening!

I realized I didn't rate my first visit in 2023. So here's a subsequent entry: September 14, 2023 The food and drinks were excellent at the time, and the staff were attentive and friendly. January 28, 2025 This time the waitress was very friendly and attentive and took my suggestion seriously (of course I can't say whether she passed it on). But more on that later. This time it was just the two of us for dinner. The restaurant was relatively busy and the two waitresses were busy. As mentioned at the beginning, the service was still very attentive. When we entered the restaurant she came straight away and offered us a table by the window (table 12). Although the door was open throughout our stay, there was no draft inside and it didn't get cold in the slightest. She took our order in a friendly manner and after a short wait the drinks we ordered arrived. These were good and exactly as we imagined them. After about another 20 minutes our food arrived. The taste of the burgers was very tasty, but in my opinion, my “Barker” didn’t have enough of the truffle mayo on it. Luckily there are various sauces on every table and thanks to the damn tasty “grill sauce” I saved my burger. The gold fries were fantastic, as was the "fry sauce". The coleslaw was GREAT!!!, but unfortunately there wasn't enough dressing. When I finished and turned the bowl over, it was dry and not a drop ran down anywhere. SHAME. I would have liked a little more dressing to mix up the rest at the end. When the waitress came to clear away the food, she naturally asked if it was tasty. In response to my comment about what I just mentioned, she said that she would have been happy to give me more dressing if I had said something. And that she passes it on with the truffle mayo. That's exactly how a waitress should be: listen, offer alternatives and take suggestions or criticism (constructive criticism and no blah blah) seriously. TOP 👍👍👍 After paying, we left the restaurant only to come back about 10 minutes later with the five of us. Unfortunately, the other waitress told us that the kitchen was already closed. When we asked if we could just have a drink, she said that the bar was already closed. Our waitress was standing nearby and the whole situation was probably very unpleasant for her. She definitely wouldn't have acted like that. But nonetheless, it was a very nice evening and we felt in good hands. That's why we got this 5-star rating (especially because of our perfect waitress), even if we weren't allowed back in at the end. We will definitely come back and we are already looking forward to the next time.

Very nice and accommodating staff. Burgers are OK. The fries are great. The orange mustard sauce was something new and highly recommended. The Mainz Amazon Corps also marched in great weather 😀 Overall, a great stay.

Delicious food, but the burger quantity is very manageable for the price and the service was offended because there was only a small tip.

I am extremely disappointed with the service! I ordered food through Lieferando, but the delivery was incomplete - several dishes were missing. I contacted customer service immediately, but no response! Neither a call nor a message to solve the problem. This kind of behavior towards customers is unacceptable. I cannot recommend this restaurant if you want to avoid unpleasant surprises.

Came here for dinner with a baby and a small child. Drinks came 30 minutes after order, and for the food we had to wait additional 45 minutes. We made it clear we can't stay so long because the kids need to go to bed. Tables that came after us received their food while we kept waiting. The waitress ignored us and gave bad excuses. The place is understaffed and we felt like the service we received was bad. I will not come back here.

No gluten free!! Despite they said on google search. Shame!!

Only got some cocktails but they were pretty good with a friendly and homy atmosphere and nice staff. The toilets were also clean

The food was very tasty. We ordered a cheese bacon burger and some fries. You can tell that these dishes come from the freezer. This somewhat clouds the feeling when it comes to the price. However, I have to praise the peach lime iced tea. All in all, a pleasant stay with a nice atmosphere and good food. Unfortunately a little overpriced.

Great food...unfortunately too long waiting times to order...very unclean table covers and seat covers...It would be great to have a little more cleanliness...maybe replace the table covers with other placemats that can be washed...as well as the seat covers... .

You can easily reserve a table via Google. I've been here for a while and the burgers taste great. The service was friendly and even though the place was really busy, we didn't have to wait long for our food.

Super tasty burgers and lots of meatless alternatives. Mrs. happy and Baba had a decent burger with beef. I can recommend it without hesitation. Were there at lunchtime.

We were back at HIG after a long time. The food was ok. What really bothered us was that the burgers were served cold. The toilets were in a catastrophic condition. They need to be cleaned more often.

Sunday 5 p.m., no brioche burger buns available. No hot drinks can be ordered. Aren't these basics that should always be there? Coffee machine broken, but there are numerous ways to heat tea water? Addition: I then saw the brioche burger on the digital menu and ordered it just for fun. Strangely enough, this was delivered even though 3 employees said "Brioche is empty" Why are you being coldly lied to? Will bread be reserved for better customers once it is in short supply? Ordered cold drinks, waited forever, even though the store really wasn't full.

Great service, great menu with delicious fresh salads, fruity drinks, you can also sit outside. Unfortunately I have to refute my assessment from back then. Was there today, service took forever, there was only coleslaw, otherwise no salad at all at 9 o'clock in the evening, cutlery was only given when asked, the food was well... a shame, that was better.

I just ordered and I've never tasted such a bad burger. Sourdough is unusable and should be removed from the menu, the brioche was a wet disaster and the meat tasted absolutely old. I really hope this was just a bad day. I'm not the only one who shares this opinion, a colleague who ate with me confirmed this. Maybe Hans im Glück should be viewed as a bar and not as a burger restaurant. The McDonalds next door suddenly looks very attractive

Empty place, space at the front door assigned by waiter. Then the coffee machine broke, so no hot drinks. No soap or paper to dry off in the toilet. During the menu, a large drink was brought to you without being asked and at an extra cost. For 2 lunch menu burgers 47 euros, is that still possible? Never again!!!!

I recently ate at Hans im Glück and it was simply fantastic! The Campion bacon burger was very delicious and tasted really good. I also tried the peach lime iced tea and the mango ginger iced tea, both of which were very tasty. The staff was also very nice and the service was great! I can only recommend it! 😊🤩😋🍹🍔 I'd love to come back :)

the worst place ever that I never want to visit again. hamburger looks like it was given as leftover. not even warm. no napkins or utensils given. 11.50 euro and there is only burger no fried and nothing. 5euro drink taste like water mixed with some syrup.. this is a joke. I RECOMMENED TO NOT VISIT.

The service has become much worse. This Saturday I was there with my daughter, as on many other occasions. First we had to wait a long time at the door where we were completely ignored. When we were ready to leave we finally got a table and had to wait again for our order to be taken. My daughter ordered a children's burger and I ordered a salad. This simple order took 50 minutes. The service was generally very poor.

Burger chain, very tasty and good selection (also vegetarian/vegan, everything labeled). The Avocado Fries and Pepperbush are my favorite. They are currently included in Neotaste, so you can still save some money.

Basically very tasty food (burgers & co), pleasant service and unusual ambience. However, at slightly higher prices. What has to be noted negatively: The food was very good, but it came to the table only lukewarm (for all three of us). Unfortunately, this leads to a significant devaluation in the food rating.

Burger was OK, but "okay" for my taste. Fries were homemade, but they didn't taste great either. A French fries was forgotten when ordering, but unfortunately it wasn't brought until a few minutes later. One citizen, Vegan, had one with meat on it instead of the vegan patty. We complained about it and the right one came quickly (as if it was already finished and we were just given the wrong one first). The service was really very friendly, the atmosphere was cozy and chic. For people with disabilities, the toilet, which can only be reached via stairs, will probably be a problem.

Wir haben uns total verarscht gefühlt. 3 X Mittagessen für 55 Euro. So gut waren die Burger nun wirklich nicht. Es war in der Karte leider nicht deutlich ersichtlich, dass der Burger nicht zum Menüpreis zählt. Da esse ich ja billiger und besser bei MC Donalds.

Alles super nur die frittensauce ist nicht zu empfehlen! Waren zum Abend hier es ist eigentlich ganz gut besucht. Getränke auch zu empfehlen.

Bei Google kann man die Location nicht bewerten, da es laut Richtlinien zu viele negative Bewertungen gegeben hat. Was soll man dazu sagen? Es war einfach nur eine richtig herbe Enttäuschung. Absolut keine Empfehlung. Die Bedienung war zwar freundlich, aber das Essen war sehr schlecht. Kalte, pappige Trüffel Fritten. Die Johannisbeerschorle mit einem Papphalm der sich in der Limo aufgeweicht hat. Total ekelhaft. Das Briochebrötchen war anscheinend schon 2 Tage alt. Vom Käse hat man nichts geschmeckt, weil auf den Burger min. 4 Esslöffel Preiselbeeren waren. Ganz ganz schlimm. Die Location war fast leer. Es waren nur 6 Gäste im Restaurant, da es geregnet hat. Damit gibt es keine Entschuldigung für das schlechte Essen. Die Bedienung wollte das Essen zwar zurücknehmen, aber ich bin gegen Verschwendung.

Leider können wir diesen Hans im Glück nicht weiterempfehlen. Der Service war etwas schleppend, auch wenn die Servicekräfte an sich nett waren. Wir haben kalte Pommes bekommen in angeschlagenem Geschirr. Auch die Burger und die Veggie Nuggets waren keine Offenbarung. Alles in allem etwas lieblos und das für den Preis. Ich würde nächstes Mal woanders hingehen.

The best sushi for me. Very good advice, very discreet and pleasantly friendly. This was my 2nd visit with my girlfriend, but not the last. I am sure that you can enjoy EVERYTHING in this restaurant.

Expected more! Were there on Saturday, it was extremely full, the staff was absolutely understaffed and therefore totally overwhelmed. We sat in front of our empty plates for over an hour, but it wasn't just us that nothing was cleared away. We asked for cutlery and napkins several times... without success (luckily you can eat the burgers that way and we had our own napkins). The food was ok, but not the highlight we had hoped for and expected.

The food and cocktails are top notch as always. It's just a shame that we had to leave at 11 p.m. even though it was supposed to be open until one o'clock. We didn't get anything to go either because the boss had already brought the drinks to the cellar. :(

The ambience, the atmosphere is really great. You feel comfortable straight away. The service was very nice and attentive. However, the food is rather average. It comes within a few minutes and is lukewarm to hot. This suggests that it is already prepared in the kitchen and waiting for the customer. The quality is okay, the taste is good, the price/performance ratio doesn't fit. You can do that better.

I was at Hans im Glück for the first time many years ago for the opening in Berlin. Nothing has changed in the ambience, the service is quick and very friendly. The food...well. It is certainly very subjective to evaluate food, but there are a few criteria that are comparable. Let's put it this way, I can think of a few restaurants that I would rather go to for a burger. For me personally, the repetition factor is very low.

We love the interior design of this Burger chain Restaurant, very original, giving the feeling of being in a small birch tree forest, with small nooks. The service is very good and the burgers are delicious, where you can choose your bun and a variety of sauces. They are kids friendly and in the spring/ summer you can seat outside.

Everything is no longer as it once was. The seats and the entire restaurant are just dirty. The restaurant management walks around the store in sports leggings and slippers with socks without lifting their feet. Somewhere in the background she was even shouting at someone. The food itself was just disgusting. The chicken in the Bürger wasn't fresh (presumably canned), and there wasn't a burger with a pepper crust either, instead it was a burger patty with a pinch of pepper. The beef patty was nothing special and rather tasteless. A lot would have to happen for me to eat there again.

Worse and worse. Very expensive price-quality ratio. There are some boards hanging in the place that are very poorly positioned. Where people butt heads left and right. Very lack of cleaning. Whatever you say to employees falls on deaf ears. I will never go back. Unfortunately

It's a nice idea with the tree trunks, but there are a bit too many for my taste. Especially if valuable seats are lost as a result. We were there with 7 people and the table assigned to us was not available for this number of people. We would have been sitting there like sardines, impossible. For your information, we had reserved. We then asked for another table, which wasn't a problem, but unfortunately comfort is different. The burgers, yes Okay, I was hungry 😉 weren't bad, but in my opinion, mass fare. The waitresses, all of them, were very, very friendly and accommodating, which is why they gave it 5 stars.

Great food and good service. It was just too cold in the restaurant. There were 20 of us and almost everyone had to keep their jackets on. Unfortunately, even after requesting, there was no heating. Otherwise, still a clear recommendation and certainly only a small drawback in winter :-)

Food OK, but the place is pretty shabby. The music is annoyingly loud and the bass of the system is defective and just rattles annoyingly.

Geht gar nicht .Wer soll das essen ? Geschmacklos und nicht anzuschauen. Jeder McD ist besser und die sind schon fast nicht genießbar. Muss jeder selber wissen ,aber einfach nicht zu empfehlen!

Leider war der Service bei unserem Besuch etwas unterbesetzt und auf vielen leeren Tischen stand noch das Geschirr. Das Essen kam schnell und war okay.

Habe auf meinem Elsässer Burger dem Camembert vermisst und die Pommes waren noch teilweise roh sodass sie leider ungenießbar waren...

Ein weiterer Hans im Glück Besuch und wie immer alles prima. Service aufmerksam und sympathisch, auch bei ordentlich Betrieb, Essen und Getränke lecker und preislich vollkommen ok. Beim nächsten Aufenthalt in Mainz sehen wir uns gerne wieder.

Eine sehr schöne Atmosphäre, freundliche und aufmerksame Bedienungen, angemessener Mittagsmenüpreis. Jederzeit zu empfehlen, Danke auch an Ouidad!
