Hafenkiste in Aurich

I've eaten there five times now. Whether it's breakfast, afternoon tea, or dinner, the food is always delicious, but unfortunately, sometimes it gets cold, or something is always forgotten when there are large groups. The service is very poor; plates are left on the table for ages, and drinks aren't refilled, let alone asked for.

Great food, nice, friendly staff. We had reserved seats in advance. Unfortunately, we had to wait about an hour for our food, but we were informed of this immediately after ordering.

We're so excited about this place! The servers were all so nice and accommodating :) The food and drinks came super quickly and were incredibly delicious! We couldn't fault it. We're already looking forward to our next visit :)

The Hafenkiste is basically a great restaurant with a nice ambiance, friendly service, and solid food, BUT: The business philosophy seems to be focused on making quick money, even though the staffing levels are far from adequate for the number of people. Despite asking twice, we waited 1.5 hours for our food. The friendly server said, "60-80 minutes is standard for us, I'm sorry." Unfortunately, the fries were also cold. I can't understand why they keep running into a wall every day. Instead of prioritizing quality over quantity, the restaurant is packed to the brim every day, and both the guests and the food suffer. The potential is huge; it's a shame it's not being utilized.

We were there on May 1st. Of course the store was packed. In spite of everything The service and food was a 10 out of 10! Since we liked the food so much, we went there again the next day for lunch. Same dish as the day before. Only in cold. It's a total shame... I'm not sure whether the service was interested, it didn't come across that way.

Really great location right at the Aurich harbor (E-J Canal). Very nice outside and spacious inside area. Very well maintained. The service is very good. During peak times you have to expect slightly longer waiting times. The food is plentiful, very tasty and attractively prepared. The price/performance ratio is absolutely ok for the offering and the quality. We'd love to come back. We had a Cleese and veggie burger with fries. Delicious.

Absolutely! A super friendly younger man served us. The food came quickly, was plentiful and really tasty, good prices. The view was beautiful. Highly recommended.

Went here again for breakfast today. Really delicious, and always very friendly staff! At least until the boss came. Suddenly there was a completely different atmosphere. We found it impossible for him to slouch around in an unkempt manner and have his staff fold up several times in front of all the customers. Then he comes out of the kitchen area chewing, bumps into his employee and continues to complain. A little more respect for the ladies would be appropriate!! His employees never behave so badly. All customers sitting in the area were embarrassed and annoyed by this. Not good advertising for this otherwise excellent restaurant. We love coming, any time of the day. No matter whether it's lunch or in the evening. The kitchen is great! And the breakfast is rich.

Absolute catastrophe, total overwhelm. We left after 1.5 hours and canceled our food order. We definitely weren't the only guests who were dissatisfied that evening. There were 4 of us. The Hugo Grottoes were bad, etc. Big disappointment

We wanted to eat with our children and grandchild this evening and ordered at 6:30 p.m. After asking several times, we still had no food at 7:40 p.m. and there was no prospect of it. We left the restaurant hungry and with a screaming child after paying for our drinks. If the kitchen is so overwhelmed you shouldn't take in so many guests, other customers around us had received cold fries, for example.

A few weeks ago we reserved a table for 12 people for the gourmet breakfast buffet on Easter Monday. When we arrive we are taken to two tables in the winter garden (6 people per table opposite each other). The buffet in the entrance area is small with niches but everything is there. The food was very good, but there were huge queues that stretched into the dining room. The motto here is “the main thing is sales”. We accepted the situation as it was, but we certainly won't go to the buffet there again. Staff tried hard.

In April, sit in the sun but still protected from the wind, enjoy the delicious mango spritzer and the iced tea variations (pomegranate!) and eat the fresh burgers. This is what an Easter weekend can look like again :-)

Delicious food for lunch after swimming or in the evening with friends or family. We had burgers and schnitzel. The homemade iced tea is highly recommended. The service is very friendly and quick.

Leider wurden wir jetzt schon zum 2. Mal enttäuscht. Wir waren gestern Abend mit der Familie dort um einen 18. Geburtstag zu feiern. Leider war die Servicekraft nicht daran interessiert uns adäquat zu versorgen, obwohl das Lokal m.E nach nur mäßig besucht war. Mit der Getränkebestellung wurde eine Vorspeise für Alle bestellt, Getränke und Vorspeise kam dann auch. Dann kam lange nichts und erst auf Anfrage ob wir denn jetzt auch mal Essen bestellen könnte kam ein "ach ja ihr habt ja noch gar nicht bestellt". Der Hauptgang wurden dann nach und nach serviert, sodass nicht miteinander sondern nacheinander gegessen wurde. Bei einer Bestellung (Pizza) wurde erst im 3. Anlauf die bestellte Pizza gebracht. Ich wollte gerne noch ein Getränk bestellen, nachdem das aber auch nicht kam habe ich nachgefragt und erntete ein Augenrollen der Servicekraft.

A great place for every burger fan. For me the best burgers in East Frisia. But also pizza, schnitzel and salads of the finest quality. After eating, just sit and celebrate. Absolutely recommended!

Ich war mit einer Freundin heute in der Hafenkiste verabredet. Die Hafenkiste hat ein schönes Ambiente, dennoch ist das Essen und das Personal mittelmäßig. Unendlich lange Wartezeiten , ob auf das Essen oder das trinken. Auch dann wenn nicht viel los ist. Eigentlich ist das der Grund, warum ich schon garnicht mehr zur Hafenkiste gehe. Aber am heutigen Tag wollte mich eine gute Freundin zum Essen einladen. Wir saßen draußen , es war vorerst wunderschön, die Sonne schien und wir haben uns eine große Cola bestellt. Drei Sekunden nach dieser Bestellung , haben wir die Angebotskarte gesehen ,ein Menü mit Getränk inbegriffen, wir wollten dann gerne umbestellen. Die Kellnerin sagte nun ging es nicht mehr… Fanden wir schon merkwürdig, aber wir wollten uns die Laune nicht verderben lassen. Wir haben dann trotzdem das Angebotsmenü bestellt. Kurz nach der Bestellung kam die Kellnerin wieder , und sagte das das Menü leider so grad nicht gib’s , da am morgigen Tag erst die Ware kommt. Alternativ konnte Sie uns nichts Anbieten. Wir schauten nochmal in die Karte und suchten uns dann eben eine Lasagne aus. Kurz darauf kam die Kellnerin wieder und sagte das es auch keine Lasagne mehr gibt. Nun reichte es uns… Die Cola wollten wir eigentlich nicht mehr bezahlen, haben es dennoch machen müssen. Wir haben sie wutentbrannt ausgetrunken und sind gegangen. Es gab kein entgegenkommen von der Kellnerin , kein Vorschlag uns als Kunde zufriedenzustellen. Wir waren echt mehr als sauer und enttäuscht. Für uns war es das letzte Mal das wir diesen Laden betreten haben. Ich würde die Hafenkiste niemanden weiterempfehlen.

We and the children love the harbor box, it's always nice to have there. And the service and interaction with us is also great, which is unfortunately no longer a given for children these days, but the Hafenkiste does it very well.

Selten so einen schlechten Service erlebt , haben reserviert , extra mit angegeben „mit Baby „ als wir ankamen haben wir 10 min auf ein hochstuhl warten müssen , bis mein Mann selbst einen besorgt hat , nach 1,5 std warten auf unser Essen sind wir dann gegangen … Leute die nach uns kamen , haben eher ihr Essen bekommen .. ich kann ja gerne mal bisschen warten aber mit Baby … überhaupt nicht kinderfreundlich , wir waren das erste und letzte Mal dort .. Nicht zu empfehlen !!

Wir haben als Familie, 3 Erwachsene, ein Kind von 7 Jahren, ein Kind von 14 Monaten, einen Tisch bestellt… Als wir im Restaurant ankamen, wurde uns ein kleiner runder Tisch, ganz am Ende, mit sonnigem Blick auf das Wasser zugeteilt. Hier wäre zu erwähnen, das der Tisch lediglich für drei Personen ausgelegt ist und der sonnige Blick auf das Wasser, so störend war, das wir nichtmal in die Karte gucken konnten… Als wir dann unsere Getränke Bestellung erhalten haben, kam diese recht zügig, jedoch schmeckte alles sehr abgestanden. Die Cola hatte keine Kohlensäure und das Bier prickelte schon länger nicht mehr… Essen haben wir bestellt, jedoch sind wir nach guten 85 Minuten aufgestanden, nachdem unseren Nachbartische, die einige Zeit später ankamen, jedoch vor uns ihr Essen bekamen, und haben gefragt wo unsere Speisen bleiben. Die Kellner sagten es dauert noch ein wenig… Wir haben das Restaurant verlassen, da es wirklich unzumutbar war. Die Kellnerin meinte, beim nächstenmal…NEIN, ein nächstes Mal wird es definitiv nicht geben… Dieses Restaurant ist einfach nicht zu empfehlen…schlechter Service, die Getränke abgestanden und das Essen kommt nicht mal …

Once and never again! Waited over an hour for our food and then it was still lukewarm. Every normal chip shop is a thousand times better. Fries almost cold, sticky and salty. Schnitzel tasted purely like fat. A slim blonde waitress can only give curt answers when you ask something.

Absolutely recommended! The Hafenkiste in Aurich is highly recommended! The food was delicious, freshly prepared, and the price/performance ratio was absolutely reasonable! The service was simply top-notch – friendly, attentive, and warm. We also loved the ambiance: cozy, maritime, and designed with attention to detail. We'll definitely be back!

Finally open again. Even under new ownership (Extrablatt R-Café) it's a great restaurant with a good selection.

Because we had a reservation at The Don A Roma Aurich and they made us wait outside for three quarters of an hour and that was for a birthday. Then the service told us it would still take a while and we said we were leaving. The service there then wanted to settle accounts with us. impudence. We quickly decided to call the Hafenkiste to see if they would or could still take us in. Just because it was a birthday. The best thing is that they did everything they could to accommodate us and I haven't felt as well looked after as I did there in a long time. Great there. Really great. Thank you. Great team. This morning we spontaneously got a table for breakfast with 11 people on the occasion of a birthday, as another restaurant that had a reservation made us wait outside the entrance for 45 minutes later in the “winter garden”. Then everything was fine for you The breakfast buffet was refilled even at this time, drinks were picked up and brought quickly, the table was clean and everything else too even though the store was completely full. Big thanks to the Hafenkiste team. 👍💯

Went there today for the first and last time with a group for the breakfast buffet. The restaurant was very crowded and the queue at the buffet was extremely long. This didn't create a good weekend breakfast feeling. The noise level was also very high. The service staff was very nice and accommodating. It's just a shame that everyone was afraid of the boss.

My training here was a huge disappointment. As the only foreign trainee, I was excluded from the team 😡😡 and left alone with all the hard work. Respect, fairness and humanity?

One of my favorite restaurants in my area. Great vegan options and very tasty cocktails. We were there with the high school class at the time and had a lovely evening in a great atmosphere. The service is also nice. Sometimes it is very loud when there are large groups. That should be taken into account. On the second visit, the “birthday child’s” chicken was unfortunately sour or sour. Despite a "thanks, but no thanks" we were delivered a new chicken, which was better. That was very accommodating, thank you for that. Gladly again!

We were there on a Sunday for the buffet breakfast and it was just great! Super nice staff and a great buffet where nothing was missing and everything was always in stock or quickly replenished. We'd love to come back!

Simply great, my wife and I come here for breakfast at least once a month, everything is perfect here!! Great staff, great prices and the quality and selection is simply top! However, it is mandatory to make a reservation in advance, the word has gotten around that it is worth the trip there and as a rule you can't get a seat there spontaneously, which is definitely positive and speaks for itself.

Experiences in the “Hafenkasten” Fire alarm and long waiting times. The smoke alarm sounded, causing uncertainty among the guests. A short time later the service person came and frantically opened the window right there. Cold poured in and all we heard was: "The waffle iron in the kitchen is too hot", nothing happened. Luckily there was no fire. Afterwards we waited an eternity for our ordered food (previously for the order to be accepted). I asked the service and was told that the boss was now in the kitchen. The food was OK. Not again anytime soon.

We often come to the harbor box these days. The location is good and important to me -> you are in good hands there with your dog! The Hafenkiste is easy to get to by bike. By car, parking is sometimes difficult at peak times, but the harbor box can't help. The service is good, could be a little more attentive here and there but the crew is always polite. The food is good, portions and prices match. Changes/special requests will be fulfilled if possible.

The food is ok is good. We reserved a place here for breakfast in the morning. Non Schalon was told that there were only seats outside. so far so good. Of course I am aware that the temperatures in February are not exactly tropical but unfortunately the heaters were only switched on at 9:00 a.m. when the room was opened. I'm not aware if they were running before. In addition, the heaters are set with a timer for 30 minutes. For this reason, as a guest you always have to walk around the entire room yourself and turn on the heaters. But it was so cold outside that we could see our breath for the first 30 minutes. You have to communicate something like this in advance before making a reservation or make sure that the temperatures are not around zero. The service was very nice and of course tried to be friendly here. That's why I blame only management. I've rarely had such a bad experience. Unfortunately, the decent service and the decent food can't make up for it

Nice restaurant at the harbor with a nice view and the ambience inside is also nice. We ordered a table for 7 people over the phone but were then supposed to sit at 3 small tables separated from each other. We then sat down in the winter garden, which was of course already quite cool at the end of October. You could have said it on the phone when nothing was available. We found drinks quite expensive, but the food prices were okay. The food was very tasty BUT it took far too long considering that the place was very empty, so we didn't understand why it wasn't possible to get a table there even though it was empty anyway. The waiter was very friendly, the waitress who also served us was either not new or didn't have that much experience, she seemed a bit overwhelmed at the end to make 2 separate bills.

This was one of the worst restaurant experiences I've ever had. I've already been to R-Cafes in Hamm and Arnsberg, in both it took a long time for the food to arrive but here in Aurich we waited an hour. Since it was very cold in the dining room despite the heater, we decided to take the food with us. It wasn't particularly crowded in the restaurant, many tables were still free. I suspect that the kitchen team is not on their toes, the drinks came quickly. When we arrived at our apartment, we noticed that the goat cheese salad was missing. The pizza was okay. In the restaurant, three out of four toilet stalls in the women's toilet were missing toilet paper.

Ich habe online einen Termin gebucht und am Tag, als ich dort hin wollte, sogar noch angerufen, ob die Buchung geklappt hat. Dort angekommen wollte man mir erst sagen, dass keine Buchung vorliegt und sie für 3 Personen nur noch einen Minitisch zur Verfügung hätten. Nach nochmaliger Prüfung war meine Buchung auf einmal doch da, allerdings wäre es der gleiche Tisch... *häh???* Einen Hochtisch hat man mir noch (recht unfreundlich) angeboten. Ein Hochtisch für 2 Ü80jährige... naja... Ich freue mich für euch, dass ihr so gut gebucht seid, allerdings macht es dann Sinn, die Online-Buchung zu deaktivieren. Wir sind insgesamt 50 km gefahren, nur um wieder zu gehen. Sehr ärgerlich! 3 Sterne dennoch, weil ich 2 Tage vorher dort einen sehr kompetenten Service und sehr leckeres Essen hatte.

Essen und Ambiente ok. Essen ist aber kein Highlight. Für Gruppen nicht zu empfehlen. Schnaps aufs Haus Fehlanzeige. Dazu egal was für eine Sorte, 3,10 Euro ist ein stolzer Preis. Auch zieht die Bude wie Hechtsuppe und geheizt wird auch nicht. Schade, wenn man über 500 Euro zahlt und die Leistung nicht stimmt.

We went to the restaurant together as a team for dinner at the end of the year. The atmosphere is very cozy and inviting and the service is first class. Very friendly and accommodating and always with a smile on his face. We had a good selection of starters such as goulash soup and bruschetta, or main courses such as burgers and schnitzel with a side dish, and we were all very satisfied. Price performance is also right in this case. I can fully recommend this restaurant and look forward to my next visit.

We booked a table for 2 3 weeks ago, come from Emden and are looking forward to a nice, cozy breakfast. On site we are offered a table in the winter garden, 2 degrees outside in the winter garden 15 degrees, we have never experienced greater impudence and foolishness, we have been here twice, once and never again

We come from Emden to have breakfast in this restaurant in the morning.. with a reservation.. unfortunately they offer us a table in the winter garden.. temperature 15 to 17 degrees a cheek.. never again that is cashing in at the highest level..

As always, the food was delicious. However, today I experienced for the first time that one of the waiters was very keen on tips. We simply rounded up the amount and apparently that didn't suit him and we could hear how stingy we were. He also became very rude and threw the card reader on the table. I've never experienced anything so cheeky. It's better to think about whether you might go somewhere else to eat next time.
