Hafenhaus in Emden

The harbor house was closed at night and in fog on New Year's Eve. What do I do with my voucher now? Contact by phone or email not possible! Communication is zero!!!!

We've always been thrilled...so far, but what's going on there lately or not is an outrage. Writing an email at 7:30 p.m. on the evening of December 30th that our table for the next day with seven people would simply be canceled is unbeatable in terms of audacity! We were there for breakfast. Very nice atmosphere and great selection at a very good price. We'd love to come back.

The food was always great! The ambience is simply wonderful! Unfortunately I made a reservation for 15 people on January 1st, 2025. Then the email came which said: Ladies and Gentlemen Your booking has been cancelled. 2 days before. At 7:30 p.m. I then called the restaurant a few times and no one answered. I still haven't received an answer by email as to why this happened. Without explanation, without a “sorry” and at very short notice! Just disappointing and sad.

We made a reservation on New Year's Eve, apparently Hafenhaus has been temporarily closed for 1 day. Without notice we stood there with 12 people! When asked, they were told two days in advance that everything would take place. Really bad people like that!!

Today our reservation for tomorrow, New Year's Eve 2024 at the Hafenhaus Emden was canceled at noon for no reason, knowing full well that there are now no alternatives to be found. A 90 year old lady is also affected, thank you Hafenhaus. There will definitely be no more recommendations, not even for Oldenburg.

My wife, a friend and I wanted to treat ourselves to something special and pamper ourselves this Christmas. That was the plan. After we were assigned our nice seats, we were immediately told that the course menu we had booked was not possible because two chefs were sick. However, there would be a very good selection of high-quality food and the price would be reduced from almost 60 euros to almost 40 euros. Then there was duck, lukewarm. Potato gratin was lukewarm and it wasn't refilled. Everything on this buffet was either cold or missing. In order to get at least 1 hot piece, I waited at the buffet for 20 minutes, like many others, until around 20 hot steaks were filled up. The two chefs and about 6 service ladies seemed completely overwhelmed. As an apology we were then charged “only” 25 euros per person. Unfortunately Boxing Day was ruined. We will eat somewhere else in the future.

We had a wonderful evening. Praise for the service, even with a limited staff there was nothing missing, we were looked after very friendly, quickly and courteously. We really enjoyed the food and the stylish ambience! Small but nice menu, you can follow the preparation live. We'll be back!

The service is a real disaster!! Despite the lunch offer, we waited 50 minutes for the food. Who has the time? That would have been ok in the evening, but for lunch? It doesn't work at all, it's a shame. ... the food (Kibbeling) was otherwise very tasty.

Unfortunately a very disappointing visit. The Hafenhaus schnitzel was frozen, the accompanying rösti were frozen potato pancakes and all for over €20. The service was very rude, so you didn't feel particularly comfortable at this point either. My wife's bowl consisted of leaf lettuce and two matjes that tasted like nothing. That's not what we mean by bowl. It's a shame because the ambience is great. Unfortunately, that doesn't save us in the end.

Today we had breakfast with 7 people. First of all we waited over 30 minutes for the tea. Then there were no rolls. The scrambled eggs were cold. There was only one type of cold cuts and other things that we didn't like. We've had a better breakfast there. Were very disappointed.

The buffet is really first class. Huge selection for vegetarians too. Unfortunately, the reserved space for our group was a bit tight.

Für 16€ Frühstück, kann man erwarten, dass die Brötchen frisch sind, die Salate zumindest umgerührt bzw. umgefüllt in saubere Schalen und das Geschirr, der Sitzplatz/Fußboden sauber sind. Wir werden erstmal doch nicht mehr frühstücken. Da gibt es bessere Adressen.

The restaurant may not be the best choice for those with less adventurous dietary needs, as the selection may be limited in this case. It's best to check the daily menu. However, if you appreciate good food at a high level, this is the place for you. I also like to use the Hafenhaus for business events or privately.

Was invited to breakfast in the harbor house! The selection was sufficiently large and of good quality! The ambience is worth seeing, you have the feeling of sitting directly in the water! The decor is very stylish! In my opinion the hot drinks should be included in the breakfast price but okay that wasn't it! Otherwise it's a nice restaurant! However, the parking situation is not very nice! Nevertheless, I would go again!

Last Sunday evening we visited the harbor house full of anticipation, but disillusionment quickly set in. °°Service: Alone in a wide area A single service person for the entire restaurant - that's simply not necessary. If you call in sick, someone has to step in, whether it be a colleague, boss or restaurant manager. Our wait was short, but there were abandoned, uncleared tables around us - not exactly inviting. °°Food: Solid, but unimaginative House bread with three dips and gratinated goat cheese - we weren't expecting anything unusual, but we know it differently from here. Then the Hafenhaus Bowl - a prepared bowl with simple ingredients and hardly any dressing - you can't discuss prices in the restaurant, but 24 euros (with two extra ingredients) at least allows for expectations. °°Wine list: A look into the past White, rosé or red – that’s all the drinks menu offered. Instead of a small selection, we found an offer that doesn't add much emphasis. Or is there a map on request? Luckily Jever Pils is available. °° Conclusion: A nice place, but not like before. The harbor house shines with its ambience, but the offering has lost its shine. The service was extremely attentive and friendly, but overwhelmed in the situation, and in our case the kitchen was rather simple. We hope that the restaurant finds its way back to its previous level - until then, the memories of great evenings with excellent food will remain. But we'll be back!!

Very hospitable, breakfast buffet plentiful and very tasty. In some cases, the clearing of tables in the outdoor area is neglected.

Unfortunately, price and performance do not match here. One meal was oversalted, the other had no salt at all. Supplements were forgotten and only brought when asked. Service unfortunately not attentive and interested. It's a shame because of the beautiful location.

Good breakfast with a special selection of hot items. Scrambled eggs and bacon, but also kibbeling, small. Spring rolls, sausages, meatballs and Kaiserschmarrn. Otherwise a good selection, including rice pudding and red porridge, but no other special features. Very good standard. Nice, quick service. Warm drinks to be paid extra. 2 juices and water included in the price. Price-performance is right.

😋Today I had a delicious rump steak with truffle fries, the food was really delicious, I was very enthusiastic about the food, I can only give my respect to the chefs for what they did despite the stress and my full respect to the service staff... I can recommend the hafen Haus Emden to everyone

We had reserved. It was storming and drizzling outside this morning. In anticipation, we were there at 8:55 a.m., the door open, the lights on. Once inside, we were briskly informed that opening times were from 9 a.m. Before we were allowed to ask if we could just sit down somewhere, one lady said to the next that they wanted to lock the door starting tomorrow. Because of this friendly attitude, we left and will not (ever) come back. We then went to the better rated café “Der Ostfriese” on the market square and the breakfast buffet was excellent and the service was very, very, very nice. No wonder it's rated better.

Full of praise for the Sunday breakfast. Huge selection, everything fresh and beautifully prepared. Unfortunately, with the rush at 10 a.m., the service was overwhelmed, so we had to wait a long time for our drinks. We made arrangements and it was very nice. We always like to come back.

We were just eating. We had plaice that was completely salty. And that with 14 people 🤷‍♂️ No problem, we got another 14 new ones. Unfortunately there was no fish cutlery available which I would have liked in a restaurant of this level. Service was ok so far…

We wanted to eat here on Thursday. When we came in, we were surprised that hardly any table had food. After we got a drink menu for 5 people, we chose our drinks. Even after 25 minutes had passed after ordering, we still had nothing to drink. After looking at the menu, which has been drastically reduced compared to previous years and prices that a normal earner can hardly afford, we wanted to cancel our drinks. It turned out that our order had not been processed even after 25 minutes. There were 6 other tables before us. We said goodbye and spent a nice evening in another restaurant with more affordable prices and faster service. We will not visit the harbor house again.

The view from the harbor house is really beautiful and maritime. But if you want to wait a long time for your drink or something else, this is the right place for you. There was hardly anything going on, but the service staff were completely overwhelmed.

Because of the unfriendly reception and the allocation of the worst table with no alternative when the restaurant was only half full, we left again with the information that we had just made a reservation (which was demonstrably not true) and then had a delicious meal in the immediate vicinity with friendly service.

Sitting really wonderfully at the harbor, but the service is a bit of a disaster. We've been here three times because we thought it could only be an exception but unfortunately it happened every time. In addition, the prices here do not match the quality of the food. We were there with 3 people and sat outside. The restaurant is very nicely done and has a great location right on the Delft with a beautiful view. Apparently the waiters forgot about us because our order wasn't taken for ages. The drinks, which only came to the table shortly before the meal, took a similar amount of time. Unfortunately, there were also incorrect cards with dishes that were no longer current, but they apologized a thousand times for that. The food was very tasty and of high quality, only the schnitzel could have been a little warmer, I think that it was ready first and was already sitting around for a while. Overall, great taste! For the price, we would have expected a slightly larger portion, but that is also a very subjective feeling. However, we were all just barely full. Overall a great visit with very slow but friendly service. My points of criticism are minor things, but they should actually be a must for a high-priced restaurant like the Hafenhaus. Nevertheless, we will come back and really enjoyed the food.

Breakfast on August 7th a disaster! Something was always missing and was filled very slowly or not at all. (just a few examples: bread, croissant, scrambled eggs) I've been there several times, but this time will probably be the last time if I can afford it. Boiled eggs, raw ham, meat and a few other little things were completely missing. I had to look for the staff to order another pot of coffee, so I skipped the pot of tea.

We were there for the breakfast buffet with pre-booked seats during the week. It was very tasty and plenty of choice. The prices are reasonably good and we will happily come back.

The service is incredibly slow. Quality goes like this... All in all we waited 45 minutes for our food. And the store was almost empty and there were 4 waitresses on site And the store is expensive too. A clear steer clear.

Auch dieses Lokal war eine Empfehlung - zu Recht! Wir besuchten es drei Mal während unseres Urlaubs. Jedes Mal waren die Fischgerichte (Pannfisch, Krabensuppe, etc) sehr gut. Service ist freundlich und flink. Preisniveau leicht oberhalb Mitelwert, aber bei der gebotenen Qualität angemessen.

I wonder if the chef or owner has changed because the quality and sophistication of the cuisine has extremely decreased. Hardly any vegetarian dishes left. We were there for lunch and the dishes were very carelessly prepared and presented...a shame. The children's play area was unfortunately a mess, but at least there was one.

We happened to eat here by chance. My wife had fish and chips from the lunch menu for €9.90, I had a 3-course menu consisting of herring tartare on lamb's lettuce, herring burger with fried potatoes and a peach sorbet for €15.90. The food was excellent and plentiful. The service was very friendly and quick. The ambience was great. Highly recommended!

Unfortunately the breakfast was very poor. Price performance no longer fits here at all. The buffet is significantly smaller and has less choice than usual. There is no longer any Ojuice. The rolls were very hard and there was hardly any choice here either..

Meine Frau und ich fragten nach einer Stunde Wartezeit nach unserem Nachtessen. Wohlverstanden bestellten wir zwei Salate (Cesar Salat und Hafenhaussalat). Tatsächlich haben sie trotz wenig Gästen uns vergessen den zubereitete Salat zu servieren… Uns wurde ein frischer Salat angeboten, welcher wir kurze Zeit später erhielten. Der Salat war schlampig und vom Dressing ertränkt… Wir waren das erste und letzte Mal hier!

Mittags hatten wir in dem gepflegten Lokal mit Blick auf den Delft ein leckeres Krabbenbrötchen genossen. Da auf der Speisekarte eine "Ganze Scholle" (29,50 €) angeboten wurde, reservierten wir auch für den Abend. Eine krasse Fehlentscheidung! Serviert wurde eine schwammige, wässrige Scholle, die offenbar tiefgefroren und dann turbo aufgetaut worden war. Auf unsere Beschwerde kam aus der Küche die Bestätigung mit dem Hinweis, auf der Karte sei ja auch nicht "frische Scholle" gestanden. Das in Emden am Hafen!! Das wäre uns bei unserem Fischhändler im küstenfernen Bayern sicher nicht passiert.

No longer the first house on the site! 2. Update The menu has been expanded slightly and the already high price level has been significantly increased again. So we looked for an alternative yesterday and found it. 1.Update I visited Hafenhaus with 3 relatives and wanted to be inspired by the menu, so I wasn't committed yet. But the map had shrunk to an absolute minimum. My guests were also disappointed as they were looking forward to a decent selection of fish dishes. I ended up getting the harbor house burger, which I enjoyed, but I was expecting something different. When I asked, I found out that both the management and the kitchen team had changed and that the Hafenhaus would be presenting a new menu from June. Since I'll be back in Emden from mid-June, I'll make a new attempt. In any case, with the current map, the Hafenhaus is no longer playing in the top league. However, the friendly service was still there, as was the ambience, of course. Original rating: My choice: Dips with 3 sauces Bruschetta asparagus Harbor house crab soup Wine is also available in ½l carafes, I can recommend the Primitivo. I felt very comfortable again, and the excellent, friendly service also contributed to this. The Hafenhaus remains my first choice in Emden.

I know the Hafenhaus differently, I always liked going to the breakfast buffet, unfortunately today there was very no choice of food and it was of poor quality, no fresh rolls, just frozen things that weren't even quite ready and there was nothing marked, it wasn't even one boiled egg for our child. Liebes Hafenhaus, das war heute schon sehr grenzwwertig. Auf einer Minikarte (1 Seite) war die ganze Dinnerauswahl zu finden. Da sah man viele Gäste, wie sie an der Karte reibend die 2. Seite suchten. Zur allgemeinen Kritik möchte ich den Salat für 14,50 € anführen. Ganze 5 halbe Cherrytomaten und 5 hauchdünn geschnittene Gurkenscheiben säumten und dekorierten den Rand. In der Mitte jede Menge einfacher Blattsalat, dazu ein paar Nüsse, "Karottensplitter" und ein Prise Sprossen, -das war es. Das Dressing: wirklich gut. Trotzdem bleibt ein trübes Gefühl von WER-NIMMT-MICH-DENN-HIER-NICHT-ERNST. Es spricht nichts dagegen, reich zu werden, -aber bitte nicht auf meine Kosten.
