Grubweger Bierstüberl in Passau

The food was excellent, the vegan bowl was delicious. There's not much to say about the service; I ordered at the terminal, picked it up myself, and returned the dishes myself. All in all, though, 5/5.

Delicious food and friendly staff

We had reserved a table for three people three weeks in advance, only to end up alone in a remote corner of an annex – simply unacceptable. The service was very helpful and friendly, but the rude and arrogant owner refused to seat the three of us at a table for four in the main area. The food was very good, but the portions were far too small for the relatively high price. After the (highly recommended) cabaret show with Sigi Zimmerschied in the same building, we stayed for a drink, but the cocktails weren't particularly good. We're giving the stars for the very friendly service. If the owner were different, or if his poor organization and the food were more in line with the price, we would gladly eat there again. However, we will certainly be happy to return to Sigi Zimmerschied's cabaret show.

A real hidden gem in otherwise overpriced Passau. Solid food at pleasantly moderate prices. Both traditional German fare and dishes that were exotic to us. Delicious beer, too. Rustic atmosphere. Very, very hardworking staff. The young men are practically flying around. Definitely worth a visit!

I'm only reviewing the restaurant; I was there just for the meal. Whenever I'm in Passau, I like to stop by the Hendlhouse. The service on the evenings of December 16th and 17th, 2025, was absolutely top-notch. 👍 The food was generally very good to good, except for the soup, which was a bit thin and tasted slightly sour. Perhaps it was just a one-off; I've always had delicious soups at the Hendlhouse. (I didn't mention it, as I didn't want to argue that day, everything else was fine, and I'd already had a long day. 😉) In any case, the Hendlhouse in Passau is a great option for dinner, especially since it's not far from my accommodation (Premier Inn, formerly Weisser Hase). Keep up the good work, and thanks for the wonderful evenings I've spent with you! 🤗🙏😊
