Wow, we happened to be here with our toddler and baby because the other restaurants were already closed for lunch. We were very impressed with both the food and the hospitality. Delicious, large burgers & incredibly great ice cream (flavors). We'll be back next time we're in the area.

Unfortunately, on our second visit, the ribeye steak was poor quality and poorly prepared. It wasn't good value for money. It's a real shame...

Actually, everything was excellent and unmatched in the area. My only criticism is the toppings and sauces: a slightly lighter preparation (less fat) and a touch of acidity would have better highlighted the grilled vegetables or carrots. The meat is excellent.

A true culinary highlight in Reit im Winkl – top-notch in terms of quality and taste – but anyone expecting schnitzel or pork knuckle will certainly be disappointed. Also not for kids who only eat fries and pasta. For the slightly higher prices, the food is also quite good – we'll definitely be back. Make sure you make a reservation.

Very tasty food with a cozy atmosphere

It was once again a very nice evening with excellent food and exceptional service!

I was there on March 5, 2025. The meat was ordered medium, but it was truly "dead," meaning too tough. The jacket potato with source cream was undercooked and still hard on the inside in places. When I mentioned the problem to the waiter, there was no response. The ambiance was pleasant, but the tables were too close together. When I found out the total for this meal, I laughed. It was a very expensive evening. I'm happy to pay more, but then everything has to be just right. It was a nice experience!

I am one of those people who love a nice piece of meat, in this restaurant I noticed that it is not only prepared with love and skill but with passion. I am completely impressed by the service and the cuisine and can only recommend that every visitor to the place let themselves be pampered by the chef and his crew. What can I say? The food here is unique and so delicious. I had the brisket and it was incredibly tasty. Everything was simply on point. Prices are high, but worth every cent. Exceptional quality, would love to come back.

Came here based on the reviews expecting it to be the most expensive dinner we had during our holiday. Was pleasantly surprised by the fair pricing for what we got. I’ve had my fair share of amazing T-bone steaks but this was a league above. It was cooked perfectly and the 4 different butter options were a joy to sample. We over ordered on the sides believing they’d be small portion sizes but they were enough for two to split easily. Service was quick and attentive although the front room was completely packed. Would definitely recommend this location if you are looking for a nicer dinner location!

Had a lovely meal here. One of the best steaks I’ve had in a long time and our hostess Suzanne was very patient with the language barrier between us and provided excellent service. Would definitely recommend if you’re in the area and craving a great tasting steak dining experience.

An excellent restaurant. The food was very tasty and in good portions. The service was extremely attentive and very friendly, they did an excellent job. And then we enjoyed little things like the dessert menu, which was presented on a small “board” for everyone. If there's one thing I can recommend, it's the "Alte Schmiede"!

I don't even know where to start! The food was incredibly good. I ordered the rump steak (300 grams) medium rare and that's exactly how it turned out. The mixed vegetables were cooked to perfection, as was the baked potato.... My wife had the saddle of lamb which was also simply amazing. Fried to a delicate pink inside and with a delicious herb crust on the outside. A dream(!) Plus a brilliant sauce and homemade Rösti👌 I don't need to say anything more about the homemade ice cream at the end, you can imagine that😋🙈 It was so good that we will go to the old forge again with friends in a few days.

Excellent service, delicious food and a comfortably furnished room with elements from the old blacksmith shop. We haven't had such good food in a long time. Not exactly cheap, but it was worth it for a special occasion.
