I am one of those people who love a nice piece of meat, and in this restaurant I noticed that it is not only prepared with love and skill, but also with passion. I am completely delighted with the service and the cuisine and can only recommend that every visitor to the place let themselves be pampered by the chef and his crew. I would like to thank the team for this culinary delight.

Review: A culinary highlight with heart We had the pleasure of dining at this fabulous restaurant and it was an all around great experience. The food was simply fantastic – fresh, creative and tasteful at the highest level. Every course was a little masterpiece! The service is particularly noteworthy: incredibly attentive, friendly and with a warmth that families with children particularly appreciate. Our daughter was welcomed with open arms and even delighted with little surprises. A place we will definitely return to – highly recommended!

Das urige Restaurant befindet sich im äußersten Gebäude des Ortes. Es werden gehobene Speisen von sehr freundlichem und kompetenten Personal serviert. Die Getränkekarte ist umfangreich und das gesamte Konzept sehr stimmig. Die gute Qualität wird von recht stabilen Preisen flankiert.

What can I say? The food here is unique and so delicious. I had the brisket and it was incredibly tasty. Everything was simply on point. Prices are high, but worth every cent. Exceptional quality, would love to come back.

Came here based on the reviews expecting it to be the most expensive dinner we had during our holiday. Was pleasantly surprised by the fair pricing for what we got. I’ve had my fair share of amazing T-bone steaks but this was a league above. It was cooked perfectly and the 4 different butter options were a joy to sample. We over ordered on the sides believing they’d be small portion sizes but they were enough for two to split easily. Service was quick and attentive although the front room was completely packed. Would definitely recommend this location if you are looking for a nicer dinner location!

Had a lovely meal here. One of the best steaks I’ve had in a long time and our hostess Suzanne was very patient with the language barrier between us and provided excellent service. Would definitely recommend if you’re in the area and craving a great tasting steak dining experience.

Went there for the first time yesterday and it was very nice. The ambience was great and the service was very accommodating. We were there with our dog and he received a greeting from the kitchen. We felt very comfortable and the food tasted very good. We'd love to come back.

An excellent restaurant. The food was very tasty and in good portions. The service was extremely attentive and very friendly, they did an excellent job. And then we enjoyed little things like the dessert menu, which was presented on a small “board” for everyone. If there's one thing I can recommend, it's the "Alte Schmiede"!

I don't even know where to start! The food was incredibly good. I ordered the rump steak (300 grams) medium rare and that's exactly how it turned out. The mixed vegetables were cooked to perfection, as was the baked potato.... My wife had the saddle of lamb which was also simply amazing. Fried to a delicate pink inside and with a delicious herb crust on the outside. A dream(!) Plus a brilliant sauce and homemade Rösti👌 I don't need to say anything more about the homemade ice cream at the end, you can imagine that😋🙈 It was so good that we will go to the old forge again with friends in a few days.

Excellent! We loved the ambiance, charming service, and the passion for the food. All dishes showed there was a great effort made to create an exceptional dining experience. It’s always a good sign when you get side dishes (in our case carrots, and rosemary potatoes) that are great and not merely a filler. Steak was great! And don’t forget to have a local digestive… A pleasant evening, indeed.

In der alten Schmiede werden leckere Steaks und andere Spezialitäten vom Grill serviert, wobei auch Vegetarier mit den angebotenen Gemüsevariationen etwas leckereres in der Karte finden. Auch die Weinkarte hält für jeden etwas bereit. Wir haben uns über den ausgezeichneten Rioja gefreut, der das Essen bestens begleitet hat. Speisen und Getränke sind hochwertig, der Service ausgesprochen freundlich. Das Lokal selbst ist urig und sehr gemütlich. Wir wissen gar nicht so recht warum wir dieses tolle Lokal ganz in der Nähe nicht schon früher entdeckt haben, waren aber bestimmt nicht zum letzten Mal dort zu Gast. Absolut empfehlenswert. Delicious steaks and other grilled specialties are served and vegetarians will also find something tastier with the vegetable options. The wine list also has something for everyone. We were delighted with the excellent Rioja, which accompanied the meal perfectly. The food and drinks are of high quality and the service is extremely friendly. The restaurant itself is quaint and very cozy. We don't really know why we didn't discover this great restaurant nearby sooner, but it certainly wasn't our last time there. Highly Recommended.

The rump steak was excellent, both in taste and in preparation. The burger was also perfect. If you would like to drink red wine at the right temperature, you are out of luck in this restaurant.

Ein großes Kompliment an Küche und Service. Hier trifft sich einfach ein aufmerksamer Service kombiniert mit sehr guter Küche und dazu ein tolles Ambiente, wo der Gast auch dem Koch über die Schulter schauen kann. Qualität hat ihren Preis, aber das komplette Rundumprogramm ist jeden Cent wert. Jedes Gericht war auf den Punkt gegart, egal was wir bestellt haben. Wir lieben gutes Essen und haben Euch auf jeden Fall für unseren nächsten Urlaub hier schon fest eingeplant. Kleiner Tipp für alle: Am besten einen Tisch reservieren!!! Einfach nur perfekt! Wie jedes Jahr zu meinem Geburtstag! Das Essen war ein Traum, der Service spitze! Sehr empfehlenswert!!!

Sehr freundliche Bedienung, das Rib Eye Steak war, wie bestellt, Medium gegrillt und sehr schmackhaft. Die Ofenkartoffel und das Grillgemüße passten gut dazu und auch die Rosmarienkartoffel zur perfekt zubereiteten Tagliata waren sehr gut. Das Ambiente ist rustikal und geschmackvoll.

Exzellente Küche. Essen zum genießen und Freude daran haben. Wer vorne einen Tisch ergattert, kann den Köchen bei der Arbeit zusehen. Wunderbares Ambiente Für das Essen gibt man gerne ein paar Euro mehr aus. Und in Stoßzeiten ohne Reservierung… da hat man beim Lotto mehr Glück 😅

Hier gibt es in gepflegt urigem Ambiente hervorragende Fleisch-Gerichte (i.e. Steaks, Burger), die ihren selbstbewussten Preis wirklich wert sind.

Ein sehr gutes Restaurant. Wir waren zu viert da und alle sehr zufrieden mit unserem Besuch. Das Essen war super! Besonders die Gemüsemix Beilage, die Bruschetta und den Cheeseburger kann ich empfehlen. Leider konnte ich aufgrund der großen Portionen nicht alles aufessen, aber hier wird auf jeden Fall jeder satt 😄 Hervorzuheben ist auch der ausgezeichnete Service und das überaus freundliche Personal. Die Preise sind „normal“ und nicht zu teuer. Das Preis Leistungsverhältnis ist überragend! Wir haben in letzter Zeit viele Restaurants in der Umgebung ausprobiert und hatten hier mit Abstand das beste Essen in schönster Atmosphäre. Hier komme ich gerne wieder hin.

Ich glaub ich hab ein Deja vu. Hochpreisige Lokal (Bier €4,70 Stand Sept 2023). Die meisten, aber nicht alle, Gäste älter als ich. Und es wird großteils Wein getrunken (Mein Blick schweift über die Terrasse. Okay, ich sehe zwei andere Bier. Eines davon ein großes.) Das Grillhause gehört zum Hotel Oberschmied, und liegt ruhig abseits der Hauptstraße. Es ist, welch Überraschung, auf Steaks spezialisiert. Aber es gibt auch Burger. Da fällt mir ein, ich habe in diesen Kurzurlaub noch gar keinen Burger gegessen. Also dann, bitte einen Cheeseburger zu einen Preis den ich eher mit einen Gordon Bleu vom Kalb in Verbindung bringen würde. Vier Dinge fallen sofort auf: 1. Das Brötchen ist selbst gemacht. Sowas findet man in keinen Markt. 2. Die Chips (Beilage) sind selbst gemacht und schmecken auch so. 3. Hier stehe ich nicht hungrig auf. 4. Der gebratene Speck sieht toll aus. Vier weitere Dinge werden nach den ersten paar Bissen klar: 1. Das ist ein richtig dickes und saftiges Patty (Fleischlaberl). Top. 2. Der Käse ist ein Schmelzkäse der genau dazu passt. 3. Der Speck sieht nicht nur toll aus, er schmeckt auch so. 4. Das kann nie im Leben halten. Zwei Verschiedene Saucen (Die gut zueinander passen) und der in den Burger eingearbeitete Coleslaw sorge dafür, das er trotz Holzstäbchen, ordentlichen Messer, und vorsichtigster Behandlung zum Schluss auseinander bricht. Geschmacklich spielt er auf jeden Fall in der obersten Klasse. Das Service ist sehr organisiert. Nur zwei Personen schaukeln die Terrasse (Die aber auch nicht voll ist). Das jemand mehrere Stunden sitzen bleibt ist sicher eher die Ausnahme, wird aber ohne weiteres zur Kenntnis genommen. Kein bewusstes ignorieren einen leeren Glases, oder ähnlich. Um einen Aschenbecher (auf der Terrasse) muss separat gefragt werden. Tja, die Raucher werden immer mehr in die Ecke gedrängt. Zu erwähnen bleibt noch das Gebäude, wirklich eine alte Schmiede. Sehr stilvoll eingerichtet. Nett auch die WC-Türen mit den schmiedeeisenen Verschlüssen. Zur späteren Stunde bekommt jeder Tisch eine kleine Lampe, während um einem herum die Grillen zirpen. Alles sehr stimmig. Und ich wurde gerade enttarnt. Setzt sich doch wirklich ein deutscher an meine Tisch und fragt mich ob ich einen Roman schreibe, oder warum ich so fleißig in die (virtuellen) Tasten haue. Ist mir auch noch nicht passiert. Bester Buger ever (Zumindest in Europa?) Knapp daneben. Dafür ist er zu rutschig. Bestes Patty ever? Darüber können wir reden. Service? Fehlerfrei, auch wenn mir die gehobene Art nicht so liegt (Aber da kann ja das Service nichts für). Ich werte mit 4/5, wobei ich sogar näher bei der 5 war.
