Griechisches Restaurant Mythos in Cottbus

One Saturday, the two of us wanted to eat at the Greek restaurant Mythos and had reserved a table for 6:30 pm. We arrived on time, and there were no other guests ahead of us. A waiter greeted us right at the entrance and was clearly overwhelmed. He told us to give him five minutes. We waited 15 minutes, and during that time, the entrance area became increasingly crowded with waiting guests, all of whom were given the same excuse by the waiter. We also noticed that the other guests had reservations as well. Right after us, an older couple entered and were given a table before us, presumably due to a personal connection with the waiter. This was completely unacceptable! After waiting another 20 minutes, we were shown to a table outside, where we had to sit on garden furniture. Furthermore, our table was the only one without a cocktail or dessert menu. After a moment's thought, I called the Greek restaurant in Sielow and asked if they had a table available for two at 7:15 pm. They said yes. So we didn't hesitate, got up, and drove to Sielow. When we arrived, we received a very friendly welcome and were even allowed to choose our own table. The food was also delicious, and the service was prompt.

It's a restaurant that transports you to Greece; the essence of the place, every detail of the structure and decor is beautiful. The service is excellent, 10/10. The food comes in very generous portions (very filling) and it's delicious! 💕🤤 The food is so good, 100,000/10. Not to mention they have Greek beer, which is really good (:) I'm definitely looking forward to going back soon! 🥰

A family atmosphere is definitely the place to be. We were there for the first time, and from the moment we walked in, I felt like a regular. The service was top-notch. The place is spacious, plenty of space, very clean, and the restrooms smell amazing. We started with a salad and ouzo. The food is an explosion of flavors, Greek cuisine, of course. Everything is very, very tasty, fresh, hot, perfectly seasoned, and the portions are generous; no matter what you order, no one will be disappointed. I wholeheartedly recommend it.

I was there for several hours (4) because my group was 1.7 hours late. After waiting, I started with some delicious appetizers. I found the price for a bottle of water quite high—even if it's generally the norm, you don't have to love everything. But the atmosphere and service were good, and the food was very juicy—especially the meat!

Unlike usual, we were left sitting at the table for ages before we could order a beer. The same went for ordering food. I usually enjoy going there because everything runs smoothly. There was no ouzo either, neither before nor after. Seems like cost-cutting measures. Maybe it will get better again.

Very nice atmosphere, totally friendly staff and delicious food.

Very poor for a Greek restaurant. We had hoped for more during our family visit. The salad had neither feta cheese nor olives in it, nor anything reminiscent of the country and its culinary culture. The main course was carelessly placed on the plate (potatoes baked with cheese, meat, and tzatziki) without any decoration in the form of salad or similar details. The only thing that reminded us of a Greek restaurant was the price. Sorry, but this will probably be our last visit.

Even though the restaurant was completely full, the food came very quickly. Personally, I missed some music, and the garlic potatoes were very, very garlicky :) All in all, though, it's still a great restaurant.

There's a total lack of comfort there! It's as loud as a train station concourse, and the friendliness of the staff is also missing. It's simply a mass processing operation there!

The five of us stopped by spontaneously and got a table. The food was very authentic and delicious. We had a thoroughly enjoyable evening.

Very nice restaurant! The staff was very friendly, and even though we were at a large table, the food came quickly and tasted delicious. The portions were very generous, and vegetarian options were also available (the rice on the side was very good and a very generous portion). The kids even got lollipops as a farewell treat.

There are now many Greek restaurants in Cottbus, but Mythos is highly recommended for its taste, service, and ambiance. Even when the place is full, the staff is always eager to serve each table or ask if they need anything else, just as they are happy to serve outside on warm days. At the beginning of the weekend, it's rarely possible to snag a table spontaneously without having to wait a long time. Reservations are recommended. The outdoor area is also inviting. The only thing where Mythos is a little behind the others is that, although you can order, it doesn't offer a delivery service. We've tried other Greek restaurants, but Mythos will always be our favorite for both the food and the service.

I was a guest at Mythos today. The reception seemed welcoming, and I behaved respectfully – I took off my hat, asked the right questions, and consumed the drink calmly. When I wanted to pay, I was assured before I consumed anything that card payments were accepted. As I was paying, I felt a noticeably unpleasant reaction from the staff – they pointed out that €4.99 was "too little" for card payments. Whether or not this is their internal pain point – as a guest, you shouldn't be confronted with this kind of tone. My behavior was respectful. I expect the same in return. It's not about money. It's about attitude.

One of the best Greek restaurants I've ever eaten in. The selection, quality, and size of the dishes, as well as the service, were simply fantastic.

A great atmosphere. The restaurant was very busy and a bit noisy. The staff was very friendly and a bit stressed. Unfortunately, they kept passing us even though we wanted to order something. As I said, it was a bit busy, and we completely understand that. The food made up for it. We would love to come back and highly recommend the restaurant.

Mixed. Some employees there are nice, others are rude. Food is possible, but it is clearly more German-Greek than Greek cuisine. But that's the case almost everywhere, unfortunately. But one thing doesn't work at all: the salad comes with a pretty sweet yogurt dressing. I don't understand. The Greeks have the best olive oil in the world and then they put this disgusting dressing on the salad. The highlight: for an additional charge of 1.50 you can also get salad with vinegar and oil. Just don't tell anyone. Totally bananas.

Nice restaurant with friendly service that caters to guests' intolerances. Unfortunately, the restaurant is difficult to reach due to the traffic situation and there are hardly any parking spaces because they are occupied by residents (understandable). But the poor accessibility due to the city's poor underground traffic regulations at least drives away walk-in customers. The city of Cottbus is obviously interested in making the city center as unattractive as possible; there can be no question of accessibility.

Catastrophe on Valentine's Day Long waiting times, missing/wrong orders and if you brought it up, you had to argue loudly at the table and be told that you were wrong. Very unpleasant place - we didn't feel comfortable there at all. It's not possible to change/vary the food - if you wanted to, you had to let the service tell you what you should order instead. Customer orientation is zero. Seating layout not inviting when there is a lot of traffic. It felt like everyone was sitting in a row, like at a beer table. We like to pay a good price with good service and food, but here the price/performance was poor in comparison. We won't come back.

We had ordered a table a month before for my birthday, when we arrived there was a huge queue at the entrance with people who had all reserved and we stood for a long time and nothing happened. The whole restaurant was very full despite ordering. We have never experienced anything like that and will not go there again... It is unbelievable and we are very disappointed!!!!!!

The food was very good, but the service was a total failure. Were forgotten 3 times, despite several references to us. In the end we were also given credit for something wrong and had to discuss it for 10 minutes. The customer is definitely not king there.

We arrived at 1:00 p.m. It was already more than packed. But it was all run very efficiently. Unfortunately we waited well over 2 hours for the food. At some point we asked whether we had been forgotten, but apparently we were just the last ones. People next to us also sat at the neighboring table and got their food. The food was good so far, very good. When we then ordered a second layer of drinks, we never received them. Very nice waiter. But all in all they were overwhelmed by the onslaught of people. We had the same experience in the restaurant before. Too bad.

Too bad!!! Have been coming regularly for several years and have always been very satisfied!!! (Until a year ago.) Unfortunately, we had negative experiences again this evening. We had to wait over 15 minutes for our reserved table. At first the service was on point, but as the evening progressed it left much to be desired and regular guests were given preferential treatment. The food (after about a 45 minute wait) was the only point worth mentioning today. Will we come back again...????

Very good service and very good food.

I'm not usually a big fan of Greek restaurants, but I was really happy here. The food was delicious - the chicken in Metaxa sauce along with the garlic potatoes was fantastic. There were four of us here and no one had any complaints about the food. Since we were there on a Friday evening, the restaurant was crowded and the noise level was a bit higher. Only the prices surprised me. We live in Berlin and eat out there regularly - the prices here are in no way inferior to Berlin restaurants ;) Conclusion: The food was excellent, the prices were a bit high, but unfortunately the service didn't quite match the price level. Our waiter seemed quite inexperienced, which was evident, for example, from the fact that when we poured the beer there was more foam in the glass than drink. I don't want to judge too harshly though - he was probably still learning. Actually 4.5 stars, but since half stars are not possible on Google, I like to round up to 5. Card payment was possible - as of October 2024

Evaluation: We have always enjoyed being guests at our favorite Greek restaurant and had many lovely evenings there. Unfortunately, we were disappointed yesterday and the experience will certainly stay with us so quickly. After a friend picked up the bill for all of us and gave us a generous tip of 20 euros, we were completely unexpectedly insulted because we paid by card. The boss complained loudly about the supposedly high card fees and portrayed us as rude and inconsiderate in front of the other guests because we hadn't paid in cash. The waitress then warned us that it was written on the door that card payments were not possible - we were then able to pay by card, but this unpleasant scene from the boss completely ruined the mood and was anything but hospitable. Such disrespectful behavior towards us and the inclusion of the other guests was just shameful. Unfortunately, this will probably be our last visit. Very disappointing.

Last time we had to wait quite a long time to get a seat, despite making a reservation in advance, you should work on that, otherwise everything was great, as always, which is why it's always full there. 🙃

Very tasty food, the staff was super friendly. I had garlic bread as a starter, the Zeus platter as a main course and yoghurt with nuts and honey for dessert. My darling ate breaded feta in Metaxa sauce as a starter, gyros gratinated with Metaxa sauce as the main course, and yogurt for dessert. We are always thrilled and I don't think 85 euros for a starter, main course, dessert and drinks for two people is expensive. Especially since the quality is excellent.

The best Greek restaurant in the area. Family-owned for 25 years, warm staff and wonderfully furnished. The food is fantastic at a reasonable price. It is strongly recommended to reserve a table in advance, especially on weekends or public holidays.

Salad for the main course comes before the starter. The table is spilled and only grumpily cleaned when requested. After the main course has been cleared away, you are left out to dry for 15 minutes, during which time each of the service people has come past the table at least twice. The kitchen is good.

Visited spontaneously on a Friday evening at 6:30 p.m. 90% full. Including outdoor area at the church. Nevertheless, the two of us still managed to get a seat inside. The friendly note immediately came: “We are understaffed, it could take a while”. So far so good. We still got the menu quickly and were able to order delicious house wine and the main course. Even though the store was full, the staff remained friendly and acted very quickly. The food was very tasty but - as is always the case with Greeks - too much ^^' (we had the rest packed for +1€). Conclusion: Well organized, tasty and friendly service (free ouzo at the start + sweet schnapps at the end). Thoroughly recommended! Reasonably priced (not too cheap, not too expensive)

Typical Greek food, down-to-earth and good, large portions, well seasoned, gyros crispy, bifteki a bit dry, ouzo before and after. We sat outside opposite the restaurant, there was little traffic, the tram comes by every now and then. It didn't bother us. The service was very friendly. Conclusion: Recommended.

Wochenende immer total überfüllt. Mussten trotz Reservierung 20 Minuten im Eingangsbereich warten. Waren allerdings nicht die Einzigen die dort standen. Essen hat lange gedauert. Als es serviert wurde war es nicht mehr heiß. Fürs Auge wird da auch nicht mehr viel gemacht. Total lieblos angerichtet. Für das Geld hätte ich besser in einem ordentlichen Steakhaus essen gehen können. War so enttäuscht, da es immer mein Lieblingsrestaurant war.

It was a great evening at Mythos. I ordered gyros with chicken breast and fries. The meat was delicious, but the fries were very hard. Probably too long in the deep fryer. The drinks were great too. I liked Lillet Wild Berries best. I can only recommend!!!

Great restaurant with very tasty food and courteous staff. The young man who works there particularly stood out because of his hard-working and friendly nature. He quickly replaced our ouzos (we didn't want to drink them) with non-alcoholic "schnapps" (juice). That was great! The restaurant still has plenty of outdoor seating across the street, which is well attended when the weather is nice.

Restaurant Mythos is one of the best Greek restaurants in Cottbus. Just as perfect as the Greek restaurant Artemis on Brandenburger Platz. I'm always very happy with the food. Nicer selection on the menu. You will immediately be greeted in a friendly and warm manner. Simply wonderful!😍😍😍😍😍😍 I can highly recommend stopping by there in person!👍👍👍
