Griechisches Restaurant Jamas in Pottenstein

Hello everyone, Unfortunately, we didn't have a good experience with this restaurant. We, a household of seven, took advantage of the great offer from this Greek restaurant on Lieferando. (Or so we thought) The result was very disappointing. The price-performance ratio leaves a lot to be desired. Meager portions, at very high prices. My choice from the menu: Gyros with Souvlaki. €17.90 6 very, very thick pieces of gyros, with 3 rather lost-looking pieces of souvlaki that I found by chance among the onions. Next door, in the standard Styrofoam delivery box, was rice with a tomato paste I couldn't identify, with peas and corn. (Must have been the Mexican chef on shift.) A heaped tablespoon of tzatziki and a small portion of salad were also served. Of course, both came in separate packages. And the pita bread I ordered was completely forgotten. Given the relatively short delivery distance to us, the temperature was very low. I wonder what it would have been like in winter... Unfortunately, not recommended... Six very disappointed and still slightly hungry people who looked at me unfortunately agreed with me.

Now called Sparta. The food was consistently good, but we missed the typical Greek spice. Super friendly, and dogs are welcome, too.

So, the location right on the B-road is a bit inconvenient because of the noise. But you can stop in straight from hiking in the surrounding area. The atmosphere isn't very inviting, that's true. It also smelled strongly of fish. We sat outside. The server was super friendly! He offered our 4-year-old daughter chicken nuggets with her fries. It wasn't on the menu. We asked, but it wasn't a problem at all. We definitely can't complain about the food.

The calamari with gyros was really delicious. 😋😋

They now call themselves "Sparta." The price/performance ratio is outrageous. The menu is very small (one A4 page). The taste is terrible. Everything is overpriced. They can't even make saganaki well here; it's tasteless soft cheese, not sheep's cheese. We had various appetizers, but they didn't want to make us an appetizer platter. We lost our appetite and left hungry. You won't see us here again!!!

The menu is very small, all the dishes fit on one page, but the prices are quite high. The quality of the food definitely doesn't match the price, and I had intestinal problems the next day (I'll spare you the details). The servers also seemed disorganized, even though there were enough of them. Never again!

The food was well prepared and arrived very quickly. Unfortunately, the beer garden wasn't open despite the nice weather.

The food was so-so. Half an hour later, unfortunately, we were all feeling sick. Furthermore, I had ordered a non-alcoholic wheat beer and instead got a non-alcoholic beer in a wheat beer glass.

Absolutely excellent, superb quality, generous portions, and a feast for the eyes. However, the tzatziki was a bit too spicy for me. The rest of the food was incredibly delicious.

The menu is small, but I think everyone will find something. Very friendly waiters, a pleasant atmosphere, and delicious food.

My husband and I were there for lunch today (Sunday). What can I say, we were very disappointed. At least two tables that were served after us got their drinks and food before us. We were about to get up and leave. Without wanting to accuse anyone of anything, it definitely seemed to us that it might have been because my husband is American and of color. Our request for a container for leftovers was completely "forgotten." We then went and got it ourselves. The food itself, when it finally arrived, was lukewarm! Furthermore, I have never personally had a mixed salad without dressing but with mustard in any restaurant. As other guests have mentioned, the menu is very limited. This was our first and definitely last time at this restaurant.

We've eaten here several times and were actually very satisfied. Today I ordered food for pickup (stuffed and baked mushrooms, 2 gyros with fries and tzatziki). When I picked it up, it was discovered that my order had been accidentally given to another customer. It was very chaotic on site, but the service team apologized with a small bottle of white wine and offered to quickly make the order fresh. I repeated my order to the server, waited a little over 10 minutes, and still went home satisfied – mistakes can happen to anyone, after all. Unfortunately, when we got home, we discovered that the wrong order had been packed again: gyros with rice and coleslaw. Extremely annoying, as I absolutely hate tomato rice. The portions were also significantly smaller, the coleslaw was warm, and the gyros and onions were very thickly sliced. This had nothing to do with the quality and quantity of previous visits. The value for money was no longer there. Overall, very disappointing; you've lost us as guests.

They had a very small menu, but they plan to expand it in two weeks. The portions were relatively expensive compared to what you'd get at other Greek restaurants. It tasted good, but the value for money was rather poor for a Greek restaurant.

We go there every year for our holidays. Unfortunately, this year's menu was very slimmed down, with very little choice, no vegetarian or vegan dishes, no salads, no desserts, and hardly any main course selection. I hope this will change. However, the food and the staff were, as usual, very good.

Very good food, large portions, friendly service

Hello, we have been there every year since 2012 and now a new owner has opened a Greek restaurant and last year he renovated, really did a great job, The employees are very friendly, quick and very nice, The food was very tasty and very warm, the food was really freshly prepared, we didn't have to wait long for the food even though it was full, we were also allowed to take our dog in, we will go there often.

We were there on December 31, 2024, with a group of 11 people. We were seated to the right of the entrance in a room that was barely heated. The staff was unfriendly, and my partner's and my food was forgotten. Everyone else had already finished by the time our food finally arrived. It didn't taste good either. Not recommended!

I would prefer not to give a star because every time you call it is closed even though it says open on the internet and that has happened a few times, never again

We spontaneously stopped in for dinner on November 1st, our first time there. What can I say? A young, very friendly team, a pleasant atmosphere (not so bad air), I also found the wait time short, prices were reasonable, and we were very impressed with the food. High praise!

Unfortunately I cannot rate the hotel because the reservation was canceled at short notice. In another hotel we found out that there are always problems here. In any case, this hotel is not recommended.

Booked a double room six months ago to have an overnight stay on the way back from Italy. On the day of arrival at 11:15 a.m., four hours before arrival, I received the news that the room had been canceled by the hotel. Something like that doesn't work at all!!!

Our booking was canceled, apparently the hotel was sold. We should probably now be booked into a rest stop. If it is expected to open again, then take a tent with you as a precaution.

We had booked this place a month ago, and less than a week before we are due to arrive, the hotel has cancelled the reservation, leaving us in a difficult situation as we try to find a last minute accommodation for a Saturday night in a less populated area.

Ordered via Lieferando delivery service. Simply canceled 38 minutes before delivery! This is the second time this has happened to us! Go somewhere else! It works there!!!

We were served friendly and the food was very tasty. Butter tender meat and great salad. Unfortunately the ambience was a bit lacking. There was rubbish and scrap everywhere which really diminished the overall impression.

Food was ordered after half an hour the waitress came and said that 5 out of 7 dishes could not be prepared because the ingredient calamari was missing. Which Greek doesn't have KALAMARI!!! Then an alternative was chosen. After 10 minutes the waitress came again to tell us that something was not available again. Disrespectful impudence. After 1 hour everyone finally had their food! Not again

An ideal place to enjoy near the Devil's Cave. Offers a large parking lot and the beer garden can be reached with a wheelchair or stroller without obstacles. There are 2 steps to the inside. The Jamas has a lot of space both inside and outside in the beer garden. We were surprised by the rain, but we were safe and dry sitting under a tree... okay, a few drops found their way to us... but what the heck, they weren't made of sugar and it was very romantic . To recommend Gyros Metaxa...I just say it's awesome...and the staff are also very friendly...we'll definitely be back. Best regards

We were eating there and there was a salad with what we had chosen, but it didn't come and at 8:30 p.m. the waitress came and kicked us out. They wanted to close it, that wasn't possible and when we pointed out that we didn't get any salad The waitress came and instead of apologizing, he gave us 5 euros without a word and we weren't going there anymore

Overall a good Greek restaurant. At the beginning we arrive exactly at opening time at 5 p.m. I think it wasn't the time for too active service yet; things got much better later. The food is delicious. If you're not on the run and have some time, a nice and good place to eat. The Greek coffee is great (I don't need German coffee when it comes to Greek)

I rate the restaurant here. We've been camping nearby for a few years and unfortunately we've never been here before, otherwise we would never have reserved a table for two for our 40th wedding anniversary! My husband called again because we wanted a table outside. Of course it was reserved inside and we were then shown to a free, desolately empty table directly on the B470. There was no bottled wine offered on the menu, only a 0.5l carafe, which is what it tasted like, probably bottled from a 5l canister. Ouzo was only available after we asked for it before paying. There was no bread for the tzatziki, my husband had a fish platter, which was served on a large plate in the shape of a fish with a cut off tail fin, apart from the fact that it doesn't look nice, you can easily hurt yourself on it, so that's impossible. The knives were dull and the food wasn't that great either, especially the tzatziki and my lamb chops. All in all, an absolutely disappointing evening for us, no nice atmosphere at all, a waste of money! I would also like to add: investing a little money in table decorations (that also works on the outdoor tables!), new crockery and cutlery wouldn't hurt. And don't be so stingy with the ouzo! Well, this establishment will never see us again, but it's our own fault if we had stayed at home and gone to our tried and tested Greek restaurant. To everyone who gave positive feedback here, sorry, but you haven't been to a really good Greek restaurant yet!

Excellent food. But something went wrong with the delivery via Lieferanto. Instead of rice we all got fries. Calamari was grilled instead of breaded and it was like rubber

Unfortunately NOT positive. Of the 2 shrimp dishes, the shrimp were not good. Fortunately, I "smelled" it in time. Reported and received new ones. The bifteki of 1 dish was not good. We ate it, at least 1 of the 2 on the plate. Which afterwards resulted in mild food poisoning 🤮🥴 And that at the beginning of the holidays..... 🥺😨

Disaster service There were 11 people and the waitress said I should put the tables together myself. A no go

Unfortunately, the hotel canceled us at short notice, 12 hours in advance, because of an internal family meeting, even though we ourselves had planned a long-term family meeting there from all over Germany (4 rooms). It was quite difficult for us to find something adequate with the appropriate number of rooms in the same area, especially since it was Pentecost. That's exactly why we booked well in advance, as we came together from different places. Ultimately, everyone at our meeting found the whole thing pretty outrageous...

I only got to know the restaurant, but it was great, just right after a nice hike into the Klumpertal. Fast, tasty and cheap, absolutely recommended 👍🏼

For us this is and remains simply the best Greek!!! We go there regularly (at least every other week) and I haven't been served anything that wasn't tasty. The team is also very friendly and responds to all requests (if possible). Simply great Keep it up

It was incredibly tasty, it took a long time until the food was finally on the table, but it tasted even better! The fries were the best I've eaten in a long time and the gyros were the finest cream. And the ouzo was also available upon request. I recommend it to everyone!

Just bottomless... If 0 stars were possible, I would have given even less. Mosquito in the meat, fries as dry as the Sahara and not much needs to be said about the salad. My “chicken breast fillet” died twice. An appeal to the chef: please quit.

We have eaten here several times and have been impressed every time. Super super nice, fast, attentive and child-friendly staff, Very, very tasty food, which, like the drinks, was always brought without waiting. Very tender meat, very tasty seafood and super delicious salads and desserts 👌🏻 The location is also very nice just outside, lots of space outside and inside and very nicely furnished (also very nice toilets 🤭). Big praise to the staff and kitchen 🙂 We come back every time with pleasure.

The restaurant was busy and we just wanted to have a quick drink here. The waiter turned us away saying it was a break. Sorry, that doesn't work at all!

Delicious cuisine, tasty fresh beer. Extremely nice service. Interesting location, close to tourist attractions. Prices very affordable.

Apparently it also happens to some visitors that they don't get an Uzo when paying the bill. Unfortunately, we are always 'lucky' not to get one. Five times out of five visits I didn't get one. At the next table there is a massive Uzo drinking session and the guests in the next room have to hand in their orders at the counter themselves because they are simply forgotten. It's probably because of the time!!! If it closes at 9 p.m., you won't feel like it anymore at 8 p.m. I can't guarantee that we'll give Jamas another chance!!! P.S.: We can't say anything about the rooms, we sleep in our own beds and are from the neighboring town. P.PS.: as Jamas was still located in the old Cafe Mager, on the outskirts of Pottenstein, the service was incredibly good. How can the service change so much? It's the same family.

The restaurant is great, the staff is mostly nice! Rooms are price/performance justified, are clean, bed and linen comfortable, close to the street, breakfast is wonderful! WiFi doesn't quite work, but reception for all providers is sufficient! The surrounding area is great, great for hiking and exploring, many events can be reached in 5 minutes by car! Highly recommended here! 👍🏻

Lamb chops were high in fat and tasted like stale fat. There was no German coffee, only Greek mocha. This was served totally sweet without asking first how we wanted it. The ouzo, which according to the menu was supposed to be a free addition, was not served. Jamas, never again!

I ordered delivered food via Lieferando. The calamari also arrived on time. However, half of the calamari was spoiled (slimy and soft... inedible!!). I then called the store and the only response was: yes, I'll pass it on, thank you. Unfortunately not the reaction we were hoping for! It can happen sometimes. However, one hopes for a different reaction to such an error. This was the last time for us.

Leckere und authentische Küche. Ungezwungene und echte Gastfreundschaft. Wir sind häufig hier und werden auch in Zukunft wieder kommen. Preis Leistung ist unschlagbar!

Sehr schön gelegenes Lokal und äußerst leckeres Essen bei schönem Ambiente. Der Service könnte etwas aufmerksamer sein statt nur hinterm Tresen zu quatschen aber insgesamt absolut zu empfehlen.

Sehr nettes Lokal, hell und freundlich. Essen war super frisch und sehr, sehr lecker. Top, macht weiter so Ouzo gab es auch😉

Im Sommer, draußen im Biergarten, ist es bestimmt schöner, als drinnen. Die Räume sind trostlos eingerichtet. Die Kerzen auf den Tischen hat auch niemanden angezündet. Die Musik war nicht griechisch, sondern eher orientalisch und absolut nicht als Hintergrundmusik geeignet. Gemütlich ist was anderes! Das Essen war (4 Personen- einstimmig) gut und die großen Portionen haben für die gehobenen Preise entschädigt. Leider wurde unsere Stimmung schlagartig beim Bezahlen verdorben! Für die zusätzlich bestellte Metaxasauce - die geschmacklich nicht mal durchschnittlich war - 5,00€ zu berechnen, war einfach nur Wucher!!! Das hat mich endgültig zu dieser Rezension verleitet. Der Service war am Anfang gut, hat auch später nochmal nach dem Getränkewunsch gefragt und dann war er und sie nicht mehr zu sehen. Zum Bezahlen mussten wir dann in den Hauptraum gehen und die am Handy-daddelnde Bedienung um die Rechnung bitten. Sehr schade, denn wegen dem Essen wären wir gerne wieder gekommen!

Ich habe schon lange nicht mehr so lecker gegessen und meine Portion nicht geschafft!!! Das Essen war in kurzer Zeit serviert.Wir wurden von allen liebevoll empfangen und begrüßt und haben uns Willkommen gefühlt - obwohl die Hölle los war. Hierher kommen wir gerne wieder!!

Wir waren zum Abendessen Sonntag ohne Reservierung. Es gab bei dem sonnigen Abend einen freien Tisch vor dem Restaurant (Biergarten, Terrasse). Schöner Ausblick, aber der Verkehr ist deutlich hörbar. Wir hatten warme Vorspeise Ofenkartoffel, und kalamari und Fisch. Beides sehr lecker. Essen kam sehr schnell. Toller freundlicher Service. Reichliche Portionen. Uzo als Abschluss wurde uns nicht angeboten. Vielleicht vergessen. Trotzdem absolut zu empfehlen. Wir werden wieder mal hingehen.

Waren gestern dort zum Abendessen. Kann mich den schlechten Kritiken nicht anschließen. Wir haben ruck zuck unsere Getränke bekommen und das Essen kam auch sehr zügig. Sah super aus und hat wirklich gut geschmeckt. Ouzo wurde uns ebenfalls angeboten. Alles so wie es sein sollte. Die Bedienungen arbeiten bei der Bezahlung mit den Gerichtnummern aus der Karte. Also am Besten bei der Bestellung merken. Da könnten sie evtl. Noch etwas besser werden. Ansonsten gibt es nichts zu meckern.

Mit dem Umzug ist leider der Service verloren gegangen. Nachdem das Essen auf dem Tisch steht, wird man komplett ignoriert. Weitere Getränke also besser bei der Essenslieferung mitbestellen. Einen Ouzo gab es nicht. Die Vorspeise kam zusammen mit dem Hauptgang. Am Nebentisch kam nach einer halben Stunde noch kein Essen. Wir waren das letzte Mal dort, obwohl es geschmacklich nichts zu meckern gab. Deshalb auch die zwei Sterne.

Essen war kalt geschmacklich ok bekommt man bei jeden griechen besser und preislich zu teuer. Die Räumlichkeiten, wahren kälter als draußen, deswegen mussten wir leider mit Jacke essen.

Sehr gut griechisch gegessen, klare Empfehlung😊 Netter, freundlicher Service, weiter so👍 Update 27.7.23 Gegrillte Leber teilweise etwas hart. Ansonsten geschmacklich alles gut. Leider wurde wie sonst üblich in griechischen Lokalen kein Ouzo nach dem Essen angeboten. Deshalb 1 Stern Abzug.

Große Portionen, schöner Standort

Wir hatten einmal die Vorspeisenplatte für zwei Personen und dann einmal die Kalameri und einmal die geräucherte Forelle. Das Essen war wirklich sehr sehr lecker und die Portionen (v.a. die Vorspeisenplatte) definitiv ausreichend. Der Service bestehend aus jungen Kellner war sehr freundlich und zuvorkommend. Definitiv gern wieder :)

Top!!! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Sehr netter Service und super lecker Essen!!! Dazu noch recht schnell fertig und von den Preisen passt's auch. 👍 Wir kommen wieder!!!

Das restaurant ist an einem sehr ruhigen ort, das Essen schmeckt sehr gut bin seid jahren Stammkunde. Den heißen stein kann ich einfach nur weiter empfehlen.

Top Bedienung, Top essen, Top Aufenthalt, was soll man dazu noch sagen hut ab 😉

Wir haben zu zweit ein Zimmer gemietet für 3nächte und ich muss sagen es war einfach top

Wir sind mit 12 personen dort hingefahren und ich muss sagen es war einfach spitze. Der service war schnell und auf zack, das essen war warm und sehr lecker kann man nur weiterempfehlen.

Wenn man in der nähe ist muss man da unbedingt mal hin

Wir können das Restaurant nur empfehlen das essen war sehr gut und der Service auch :) Aber ein ganz kleinen minus Punkt gibt es und zwar das KEINE KARTENZAHLUNG möglich ist
