Gosch Restaurant in Timmendorfer Strand

We ordered two fish sandwiches at 9:30 pm (which had probably been sitting around for a while) and asked if we could get them for 50% off. "No," they said. We also bought a bottle of rosé and found a table. Barely a minute later, the waiter left with the sandwiches, which were only €2. That wasn't very nice.

Great self-service restaurant. Freshly caught fish, perfectly prepared without unnecessary frills. Large portions at reasonable prices 👍👍👍

We went as a family! It's a lovely restaurant right in the pedestrian zone! Outside, people were sitting with blankets and patio heaters, enjoying their drinks. We sat inside. It was a different concept; drinks and food are ordered and paid for at two separate cash registers. The staff were nice and friendly. You get a pager for your food, which, luckily for us since we were really hungry, went off quite quickly. The portions are generous, with options like salad, plaice, and shrimp. The plaice and fish and chips were unfortunately a bit dry… and the fried potatoes weren't all that great either, but all in all, everything was still tasty. I thought my salad was fantastic—plenty of dressing and good shrimp. The fish sandwiches looked delicious in the display… I would definitely come again.

I had the Lister premium fish soup again, and this time it was really delicious. I was treated to this soup today (on the house), because it wasn't good at all yesterday. But after checking with them, they offered me a new one today. It was definitely worth it again. I wish this Gosch branch all the best and thank the very friendly staff. Thank you.

We were really looking forward to our visit to Gosch in Timmendorfer Strand – after all, the Gosch name usually stands for quality, freshness, and really good food. But this time it was simply awful. The fish and chips were a disaster – completely dry, tasteless, and just plain bad. The fried potatoes that came with it? Oversalted, burnt, and inedible. We've truly never experienced anything like this at Gosch before. The atmosphere didn't help matters either: loud, hectic, uncomfortable – simply not a place where you feel at ease or can enjoy your meal. We're really disappointed because we were looking forward to a nice evening. This is not the Gosch we know – and it shouldn't be like this. Hopefully, this was just a one-off, because this visit was, unfortunately, a complete disaster.

Here price and performance are still right

The restaurant is very nice and also very centrally located. But what absolutely bothers me about this restaurant is the service, which runs around the tables every minute, constantly checking your plate and waiting for you to finish.

Unfortunately, it didn't live up to our expectations. Fish nuggets were soggy. Fries were bland. Fried potatoes and cod weren't seasoned. Fried fish was okay. Salad and shrimp were tasty, though! Price-performance ratio was better than other restaurants in Timmendorfer Strand. The self-service was okay. So, we wouldn't come again, but we wouldn't recommend it.

Tried again today. Even worse. They're not interested... especially not in the company of guests. Unfortunately, the staff is very stressed and therefore unfriendly. I remembered Gosch differently. The food and dishes were better back then. I'm very disappointed, especially with the aggressive staff at the cash register. Grilled shrimp 5 stars, currywurst 2 stars, fjord salmon platter 4 stars, kids' menu 4 stars, grilled crab 4 stars. 0 stars for atmosphere and staff, 3.8 for the food.

A really nice restaurant. The food was good and came quickly, and the portions were generous. The restrooms were only moderately clean. You order and pay at the counter, get a pager, and pick up your food. Drinks are paid for separately at a second counter. Although there's no waiter service, you're asked to tip at the cash register. The no-tip button simply doesn't work... There are plenty of alcoholic drinks, but no 0.0% beer, for example. The bar staff were friendly. The staff cleared the tables quickly as soon as you'd finished eating, presumably to clear the table quickly. Overall, it's quite expensive, but really tasty.

Always nice, you can sit comfortably inside or outside. I just had a few drinks in Timmendorf and then had another good meal at Gosch in Scharbeutz in the evening.

Hello, We went to eat at Gosch in Timmendorf on Sunday, October 12, 2025. It was nice until a couple came with a dog that just barked. My wife looked over, and then the dog owner told us that it was from Timmendorf, and if we didn't like that, we shouldn't spend our vacation there. I've never encountered such arrogance from this person before. If you haven't trained your dog, you shouldn't go to public restaurants. You also have the option of sitting outside. I would have expected the staff to take care of this, but unfortunately, they didn't. I can only hope that not all people who claim to be from Timmendorf are so arrogant! We often go to Sylt, and something like this has never happened to us. It's a shame that such a beautiful Sunday was ruined.

We got a fried fish sandwich to take away for €6.50. The fish was delicious, and the sandwich was okay. Overall, the price/performance ratio was okay; you can definitely take it away, hence the 4 stars.

I honestly don't quite understand the hype. We got fish and chips to go. The fish was quite greasy and the fries weren't bad, but I've had better. The service was good, and the wait was okay considering it was so busy.

Delicious fried fish, right on the promenade. Good music, great people, a bit crowded, but worth it. Self-service, heated, and you can also sit in a beach chair. Enjoy Timmendorf and life. 🙂👍

Large selection, fresh and tasty food. Brilliant lemonade. I recommend it.

We've been going to this restaurant for years and were disappointed this year, except for the herring sandwiches. The cod was unfortunately overcooked, less so than in previous years, and the fried potatoes lacked the heat that the fish had overdone. I don't understand why you should tip for nonexistent service. I think they should take a leaf out of Hauswald's fish bar in Niendorf Harbor and invest more effort in good quality and service. At the Scharbeuz branch, at least the service is better than the one at Timmendorfer Strand. The quality of the food is similar.

For a "quick" meal, it's okay. I had a fish soup and wasn't particularly impressed. It was advertised as featuring premium fish and lots of ingredients. The only fish I had was a little salmon, and otherwise, a lot of vegetables. Perhaps it also depends on your understanding of fish soup. The matjes roll I bought the next day also left a lot to be desired in terms of the amount of matjes.

We had a herring and pollock sandwich, but the price/performance ratio was not really right. The toppings were very simple; other fish stalls were much better.

The food and drinks were very good and plentiful. Excellent value for money. Everything was very fresh. The fish counter was fantastic. The staff was friendly and quick. We sat comfortably in a beach chair and were able to unwind.

...I don't know what people expect when they go to a beach bar. The perfect dinner? How can you give it a star rating? For us, with the drinks on offer and the impeccable, polite, and friendly service, it was fantastic.

The food is okay, but a bit like a canteen, with a lot of slapping on the plate. You get smashed at the counter. The table cleaners are very friendly and nice. The fish sandwiches are delicious.

The staff clearing the tables are very polite and efficient. The service at the counter is also very friendly.

Sorry, but if I buy a fresh crab sandwich for 10 euros, I expect a fresh roll and not a very dark baked roll

I've been a big fan of Jürgen Gosch since the beginning on List. What's on offer here in Timmendorfer Strand isn't worthy of the Gosch name. We've had varying degrees of quality on several visits. Yesterday, however, the shrimp were lukewarm to cold, and the crab soup was terrible. Complaints were ignored. I can't recommend this place. Dear Jürgen, you don't deserve this. We had the small shrimp pan. The shrimp had been in the pan too long. The side salad was only a tablespoon. And the baguette was inedible. As if it were from yesterday. The potato soup? No thanks.

Delicious food at a good price. Since it's a tourist area, it was very crowded. However, the food was prepared fairly quickly.

The winery doesn't take criticism seriously; they're just not interested. Go in if something isn't right! The fish died in vain, the mustard sauce was too dry. The wine was okay.

Whenever I'm by the Baltic or North Sea and a Gosch restaurant is nearby, the fish soup is a must for me – it's delicious! Unfortunately, I keep noticing that the service in Timmendorfer Strand leaves a lot to be desired, especially at the food counter. Friendliness and a simple "please" or "thank you" seem to be in short supply there. It's a real shame – because many other employees are very courteous and customer-oriented (hence the 3 out of 5 stars).

GOSCH—in our opinion, it's still THE address for lovers of fine fish dishes. Fair prices, generous portions, and professional preparation. We give our service 5 stars because we provide it ourselves 😉: GOSCH = self-service location. A prime location is standard at GOSCH. Timmendorf scores highly with its cozy beach chairs and a village location, complete with a promenade.

It's a shame. We've been going here for years, but unfortunately, the quality leaves a lot to be desired. The ambiance is still very nice, and you can enjoy your wine. Avoid eating there if possible! The prices are constantly rising, and the food quality is getting worse; something's not right.

Very, very tasty, extremely friendly staff, great location. Dog water available. Plenty of spots even in peak season. Restrooms clean. The only drawback: the cigarette machine is often broken/empty.

Fried potatoes are only available with bacon. They should also be offered without bacon. No bottled Coke. Only available in glass. The customer is not king here.

Unfortunately, Gosch's quality has declined considerably. After several negative experiences at various locations, we tried fish sandwiches again yesterday in Timmendorf. Unfortunately, the sandwiches weren't fresh and were poorly prepared with only a few toppings. The fish was okay, but nothing more. The waitress slapped some sauce on one spot, which was also rather uncaring. It's a shame, but that's probably the end of Gosch for us.

The best Gosch on the entire Baltic coast.

I treated myself to a fishcake roll. Unfortunately, the fishcake roll was a huge disappointment. The roll was ice cold, and the roll was so dry because there was barely any remoulade on it. Even worse than the Bremen roll from Nordsee, and that was at Gosch.

We ordered two fish sandwiches. We got two cheap pre-baked rolls with onions and some bad fish. No lettuce or anything like that, no sauce or butter. Simply awful. Landed straight in the nearest trash can. The worst fish sandwich I've ever eaten.

The fish sandwiches weren't tasty and were made without love. The fish was dry and old, and they came with two huge slices of onion. I highly recommend against it!

I've been going to Gosch regularly for many years and have always been satisfied with the food and the atmosphere. The service staff in the restaurant also all do a great job and are very nice. But for some time now, someone has been sitting by the restrooms collecting money. And I want to be absolutely clear: They do a thankless job and depend on every euro – so my anger isn't directed at them. What I find truly outrageous, however, is the behavior of the company's management. Gosch is a huge franchise that really makes enough money with its high prices and enormous turnover. It should be a given to pay cleaning staff decently and in a socially fair way, instead of putting them in a situation where they have to collect additional money. A brand like Gosch, in particular, should take responsibility and show that there are other ways. Unfortunately, it seems as if cuts are being made in the wrong places – at the expense of people who are already working hard enough.

Dining at Gosch is a must in Timmendorfer Strand. Always delicious and fresh

By now, everyone knows Gosch, so there's no need to say much more. The location on Timmendorfer Strand is centrally located in the pedestrian zone along the beach promenade. There are plenty of tables outside, shaded by umbrellas that not only protect you from the sun but also from the voracious seagulls. It's self-service. The prices are on the higher end. It's Gosch, after all. What has to be done, has to be done.

Uncomplicated, relaxed atmosphere. Good food. Good wine.

Very tasty from the sea... top quality...

We love eating there, but were very irritated by our last visit. The service at the checkout was so rude that we almost wanted to leave right away. No hello, and an annoyed look when we ordered an additional portion of vegetables because it was apparently hard to find at the register. The restaurant was almost empty, so it couldn't have been due to stress. The customer after me was treated just as rudely. Luckily, the delicious food saved the mood.

I had a Bismarck roll at the outside stand. The fish was lukewarm with a large slice of onion and no salad. As a result, it tasted bad. When I asked, I was told it was freshly topped, but the fish had been sitting outside for a while. Then I had to queue a second time on the other side for drinks, even though it was a pavilion. Then I had my 3-kilo dog on my lap, and the staff immediately came, saying it was forbidden for dogs to come near the edge of the table, especially outside where there are sparrows and seagulls. Never again.

The food was such a disaster. The salad was from a bag, and the bread for the crayfish dish was still frozen.

We've been going to Gosch regularly for over 10 years. Unfortunately, the friendliness of the staff is steadily declining. Last time we were there, in July, the counter employee was rudely yelling at the customers. Even though operations manager Sabine was standing right next to her. But even Sabine, whom we once knew in a completely different way, didn't say anything. A shame. The "old" Gosch in List on Sylt said...UNBELIEVABLE...that wasn't my concept...

Ordered a fish sandwich and a drink. It was very good.

Unfortunately, due to the high demand, we had to wait over 15 minutes for a free table. Gosch and the very hard-working staff can't be blamed for that. I had Thai penne with shrimp. Unfortunately, the noodles were a bit too soft. This is certainly a matter of opinion, but that's how I felt. The sauce and the shrimp were very good!! The others had grilled salmon on spaghetti. Here, too, the noodles were a bit too soft. Overall, though, we were very satisfied with the meal.

Significantly downgraded! The gourmet fish platter was the worst I've ever eaten at Gosch! Not much fish, (only) a sauce that was watery, and the few fried potatoes were soggy. They really should have sent it back. Our last visit to Gosch-Timmendorf.

For the second time, my companion and I visited a Gosch-style restaurant, this time in Timmendorfer Strand. This restaurant is on the ground floor and offers a variety of seating both indoors and outdoors. Unlike 'regular' restaurants, here you order and pay at the kitchen counter, and you receive an electronic pager that responds as soon as your meals are ready for pickup. The bar, where drinks are ordered, is located right next to the kitchen. Thirst quenchers are handed out directly here. Please note that on summer days, there may be a wait. We waited a total of 20 minutes for our meals. The service itself cannot be rated, as it is the guests who act as their own guests. While there are waiters, they only clear the used tables. Definitely worth a visit. Especially if you want to enjoy good fish by the water. Other restaurants here focus on home-style cooking, which unfortunately tends to be more prevalent away from the sea.

I ordered Gosch shrimp and garlic bread. The assistant chef replied, "Garlic sauce?" I denied this and repeated the order for the garlic bread. This was obviously not understood correctly, which isn't a problem in itself. However, I found the assistant chef's subsequent response very rude: "Then just say it properly right away." You can expect a certain degree of customer service and courtesy from an assistant chef. The food was good, although somewhat marred by this unpleasant encounter.

Today, we each bought a fish sandwich. The quality and value for money are 100% spot on. A delicious herring roll and a fried herring roll, each for €4.30, are in the usual Gosch quality.

I'm very disappointed; it's deteriorated considerably over the years. I visited gosch with my partner. We waited an hour for our food until we asked why that was possible. They apologized, saying they had forgotten our order. The food arrived after another 15 minutes, but was unfortunately very dry. You should know, we're definitely not going there again.

We visit Gosch on Timmendorfer Strand every year when we're on a short break on the Baltic Sea. They're our absolute favorite fish sandwiches. We highly recommend Gosch here in Timmendorf and also in Niendorf 👍 It's especially funny to watch new vacationers get their fish stolen by seagulls. However, we would be delighted if Gosch would add the Sherry Matjes sandwiches to their menu 👍

One of the most boring fried fish sandwiches I've ever eaten. Small, cheap roll, barely any tartar sauce, and average tasting at best. The Coke, Fanta, and the like come from the syrup mixing plants familiar from major fast-food chains and were WAY too sweet. Sadly disappointed; we should have listened to the Google reviews...

We ordered two crab sandwiches at this small stall and were a bit shocked when we had to pay almost €18(!) for them. That's really too much for a careless, baked roll with a few crabs and a dollop of tartar sauce!

Today I went to Gosch in Timmendorfer Strand. 4 meals, including one of fried fish with remoulade and fried potatoes. First of all: I like to tip generously, and usually generously, for good food and friendly service. At Gosch, it's self-service... So I ordered from the cashier, who was trying to be friendly. She then advised me to read the text on the display carefully when paying by card. Okay - "Please tip".... Very well. Extremely clever, separating the food from the drinks - so I tipped twice... A little later, the beeper buzzed, and I could go to the food counter. Once there, I noticed that fries had been served instead of the fried potatoes I'd ordered. I looked to the cook for help and pointed this out to him. The cook—as you'd expect, tall and heavy—immediately glared at me, saying I should check the receipt immediately—if the lady was paying for fries, then they were going to be fries. He reluctantly took my plate, however – the fish was placed by hand on a new plate and garnished with fried potatoes. The remoulade, however, was gone. Outside, I finally found the receipt – it was, of course, the fried potatoes I'd ordered. So I went back – the mistake was now demonstrably not mine. The chef, however, yelled at me again. And now I've tipped twice as a sign of advance praise? Unfortunately, that won't happen again. The fried fish was okay, but not outstanding.... What a shame!

€24 for a lake view plate is unfortunately way too much!!👎 The fish was limp, not even properly "warm," and the salad was nothing more than carelessly thrown onto the plate, like it had been taken from a supermarket pre-packaged meal!! Sorry, but luckily we didn't "voluntarily" tip beforehand!! We won't be doing it again!!!

You should be aware that you go to Gosch, they live off their superb marketing, great slogans, etc. If you're honest, the food there is mass-produced, and you should be aware of that. The side salad didn't seem crisp, but rather mushy. The fish sandwiches are good. Self-service, You go here to be seen.

Food was VERY bland and the waiters didn’t speak English

After a day at the seaside, Gosch in Timmendorfer Strand was the perfect end to a relaxing day. The selection of dishes is fantastic – something for every taste. I had shrimp with fresh bread, salad, and a really good tartar sauce – simply perfect. The pasta with scampi was also excellent: well-seasoned, nicely creamy, and not overpowering. The classic fish fillet with crispy breading and fried potatoes was also very popular, as was the fish & chips for the little ones – crispy on the outside, juicy on the inside. Everything was freshly prepared and served quickly. The restaurant itself is clean, stylishly decorated in a maritime style, and pleasantly organized despite the self-service counter. I would particularly like to highlight the staff – friendly, attentive, and helpful and cheerful even when it's busy. In conclusion: If you're looking for good food with a North German flair, this is the place for you. We'll definitely be back.

An average restaurant with inflated prices. Food is ordered at a counter, and when it's ready, you have to pick it up yourself. Drinks have to be ordered at another counter and taken away. No service. Instead, there are two or three people milling around whose sole job is to clear the table after the meal. I felt like I was being watched too closely by these people milling around. The food hadn't even gone down my throat before I was asked if I could clear it, even though two other people at the table were still eating. They probably wanted to fill the table as quickly as possible. Is this what hospitality looks like? Similar to Meccanica or Burger King, but with fish.
