Gosch Restaurant in Timmendorfer Strand

Well, I don't need to say anything more about the food, but in winter the mulled wine with nut vodka is fantastic.

I'm a bit disappointed. Gosch generally offers good value for money, so we were looking forward to some delicious fish sandwiches. Since we couldn't get a table inside and didn't want to wait forever, we opted for a "fish sandwich" outside at the pavilion. Unfortunately, only the contents of the sandwiches were as tasty as usual. The rolls themselves were soggy, and the sauces were unevenly and carelessly spread. The service was also really unfriendly. It's completely different in places like List or, more recently, in Büsum.

I've never eaten such uninspired fish sandwiches.

We were there on December 29th and bought a bottle of champagne. When I picked it up, the young man behind the counter seriously asked me, "Why are you buying that? It's so expensive!" Of course, opinions may differ on the price of a bottle of champagne at a self-service snack bar, but... A little tip for the branch management: before letting your staff loose on your customers, you should train them properly. It's definitely worth the effort 😊

If you're in Timmendorfer Strand, Gosch is a must – delicious food and drinks, so everything is great.

Unfortunately, our visit was very disappointing. When we inquired, we received a curt and rude response. The food was cold, and when we complained, they simply reheated the same meal.

The food tastes good, but in my opinion the portion sizes have decreased compared to a year ago, while the price remains the same.

Our recent visit to the Bosch fish restaurant in Timmendorfer Strand was unfortunately extremely disappointing. Although the restaurant wasn't crowded at all, the service seemed inattentive and unhelpful from the very beginning. The food absolutely did not meet our expectations: The fries were cold and looked as if they had been cooked in very old oil. The fish nuggets consisted almost entirely of greasy, soggy batter and were barely edible. We ended up sending the food back and deciding to leave. The overall impression of the restaurant was no better: The tables didn't look properly wiped down, and even the cola we ordered was completely flat. Despite complaining, it wasn't replaced. In our opinion, this visit was definitely not worth the money. We had been there a few years ago and were much more satisfied then – which made this experience all the more regrettable. If it were possible, we wouldn't give it a single star. We do not recommend this restaurant.

Unfortunately, our visit was very unsatisfactory overall. The server was unfriendly from the start when we placed our order. There was neither a greeting nor a thank you for the tip – neither when ordering nor for drinks. Upon entering the restaurant, a server was standing in the room, looking critically at our small dog without greeting us. To collect our food, we had to navigate around four different staff members. When we picked up our food, we noticed that the sauce we had ordered was missing. Initially, they didn't believe we had ordered and paid for it. Only after we showed them the receipt was it confirmed that the garlic sauce had indeed been ordered. The server who had taken our order later cleared the plates, stacking them loudly and carelessly, which left a very unprofessional impression. Overall, the visit was inadequate. In our opinion, the value for money is also not good: the portion sizes are significantly smaller than in other GOSCH restaurants, for example, in Niendorf. That's a shame, we're used to much better service from other locations.

We went to the small Gosch stand in front of the restaurant and were extremely disappointed – both with the service and the food. We were greeted by an incredibly unfriendly and unenthusiastic employee who served us a bone-dry, cold roll with equally cold fishcakes. Completely tasteless. It came with a tiny dollop of remoulade, which seemed more like decoration than an ingredient. Onions, lettuce, or any hint of freshness? Nowhere to be found. At €4.50 each, it's simply outrageous. It's also completely baffling that fishcakes are only available in the restaurant and not at the stand – for whatever reason. For a simple fishcake offering, this is hardly comprehensible and comes across as unnecessarily customer-unfriendly. It gets even more absurd with the water: you have to queue up again on the opposite side and then pay €3.50 for a small bottle. That's not what customer service looks like! We certainly won't be spending any money here again. We are used to significantly better service, friendliness, and above all, quality from Gosch in Kiel. This place doesn't live up to the Gosch name in any way.

Plenty of pan-fried fish, but the taste was mediocre. The price was good, though.

I don't eat much fish... but when I come to Timmendorf, it has to be Gosch! Points deducted for ambiance: it could have a bit more of a Christmas atmosphere, especially now during the holiday season. Points deducted for service: I like to be waited on... not self-service! Points deducted for food: always the same dishes. I'd appreciate at least a little variety when the seasons change. Otherwise, always top-notch quality.

Unfortunately, the quality has declined significantly lately. Loud, hectic Christmas music is blaring. Everywhere there's a beeping machine, no one knows where it's coming from; it feels like being in intensive care. The noise level is very disturbed. For a self-service restaurant, the prices are unjustified. It's no longer good value for money. I ordered a premium fish platter and received more sauces (three in total, one of them in a dessert bowl) and hardly any fish. The fish was fried so crispy it was almost black. The mini plaice was so dry. The side salad consisted of finely shredded iceberg lettuce with some unidentifiable dried-out bits – it could have been onions, beets, or even radishes. Instead of fried potatoes, I ordered a baked potato. It was green inside. So, another regular customer has been lost.

I remember Gosch from childhood holidays on Sylt. Out of nostalgia, I went to a Gosch in Timmendorf for the first time in over 10 years. And it was a complete disappointment. The fried fish was more bad breading than fish; there wasn't even a fillet in it, just industrially processed fish scraps. The fries tasted like old oil and were lukewarm. Truly awful chain restaurant. Every fish and chips shop serves better food. And the price is outrageous. The second star is for the ambiance; it's cozy, like a pub, and the staff is friendly.

Gosch – a cult place associated with high quality. Upon entering, I was surprised that the staff didn't inform me that orders should be placed directly at the bar. They were just bustling around clearing candles from the tables... My coffee with Baileys was very poor quality; I didn't even finish it. The chocolate, compared to the one my daughters drank on Sylt, tasted like it came from a grocery store bag. Really nice music was flowing from the speakers. ;) The beer and potato soup were also good. My daughters enjoyed the pasta with tomato sauce and the boat with fries and nuggets. Unfortunately, the shrimp soup turned out to be stale, and my partner got food poisoning from it, suffering stomach problems for several days.

I spent a long time wondering what the residue was from the shrimp dish... It was residue from the griddle or pan where the shrimp were cooked... Not a pleasant discovery! You can always drink beer and wine at Gosch... You can't go wrong with that... It's a shame I was disappointed with the food again...

It was awful. We ordered takeaway, and instead of packaging it nicely, they carelessly threw a fish and a loose baked potato, plain and uncut, into a cardboard box. We asked for a baked potato, and they initially gave us fried potatoes, explaining that a baked potato was more expensive. It was truly terrible, and we paid over €10 for the dish pictured.

The staff is terrible and the food is prepared without care, sometimes even burnt.

We ordered two fish sandwiches at 9:30 pm (which had probably been sitting around for a while) and asked if we could get them for 50% off. "No," they said. We also bought a bottle of rosé and found a table. Barely a minute later, the waiter left with the sandwiches, which were only €2. That wasn't very nice.

We went as a family! It's a lovely restaurant right in the pedestrian zone! Outside, people were sitting with blankets and patio heaters, enjoying their drinks. We sat inside. It was a different concept; drinks and food are ordered and paid for at two separate cash registers. The staff were nice and friendly. You get a pager for your food, which, luckily for us since we were really hungry, went off quite quickly. The portions are generous, with options like salad, plaice, and shrimp. The plaice and fish and chips were unfortunately a bit dry… and the fried potatoes weren't all that great either, but all in all, everything was still tasty. I thought my salad was fantastic—plenty of dressing and good shrimp. The fish sandwiches looked delicious in the display… I would definitely come again.

I had the Lister premium fish soup again, and this time it was really delicious. I was treated to this soup today (on the house), because it wasn't good at all yesterday. But after checking with them, they offered me a new one today. It was definitely worth it again. I wish this Gosch branch all the best and thank the very friendly staff. Thank you.

We were really looking forward to our visit to Gosch in Timmendorfer Strand – after all, the Gosch name usually stands for quality, freshness, and really good food. But this time it was simply awful. The fish and chips were a disaster – completely dry, tasteless, and just plain bad. The fried potatoes that came with it? Oversalted, burnt, and inedible. We've truly never experienced anything like this at Gosch before. The atmosphere didn't help matters either: loud, hectic, uncomfortable – simply not a place where you feel at ease or can enjoy your meal. We're really disappointed because we were looking forward to a nice evening. This is not the Gosch we know – and it shouldn't be like this. Hopefully, this was just a one-off, because this visit was, unfortunately, a complete disaster.

Here price and performance are still right

The restaurant is very nice and also very centrally located. But what absolutely bothers me about this restaurant is the service, which runs around the tables every minute, constantly checking your plate and waiting for you to finish.

Unfortunately, it didn't live up to our expectations. Fish nuggets were soggy. Fries were bland. Fried potatoes and cod weren't seasoned. Fried fish was okay. Salad and shrimp were tasty, though! Price-performance ratio was better than other restaurants in Timmendorfer Strand. The self-service was okay. So, we wouldn't come again, but we wouldn't recommend it.

Tried again today. Even worse. They're not interested... especially not in the company of guests. Unfortunately, the staff is very stressed and therefore unfriendly. I remembered Gosch differently. The food and dishes were better back then. I'm very disappointed, especially with the aggressive staff at the cash register. Grilled shrimp 5 stars, currywurst 2 stars, fjord salmon platter 4 stars, kids' menu 4 stars, grilled crab 4 stars. 0 stars for atmosphere and staff, 3.8 for the food.

A really nice restaurant. The food was good and came quickly, and the portions were generous. The restrooms were only moderately clean. You order and pay at the counter, get a pager, and pick up your food. Drinks are paid for separately at a second counter. Although there's no waiter service, you're asked to tip at the cash register. The no-tip button simply doesn't work... There are plenty of alcoholic drinks, but no 0.0% beer, for example. The bar staff were friendly. The staff cleared the tables quickly as soon as you'd finished eating, presumably to clear the table quickly. Overall, it's quite expensive, but really tasty.

Always nice, you can sit comfortably inside or outside. I just had a few drinks in Timmendorf and then had another good meal at Gosch in Scharbeutz in the evening.

Hello, We went to eat at Gosch in Timmendorf on Sunday, October 12, 2025. It was nice until a couple came with a dog that just barked. My wife looked over, and then the dog owner told us that it was from Timmendorf, and if we didn't like that, we shouldn't spend our vacation there. I've never encountered such arrogance from this person before. If you haven't trained your dog, you shouldn't go to public restaurants. You also have the option of sitting outside. I would have expected the staff to take care of this, but unfortunately, they didn't. I can only hope that not all people who claim to be from Timmendorf are so arrogant! We often go to Sylt, and something like this has never happened to us. It's a shame that such a beautiful Sunday was ruined.

We got a fried fish sandwich to take away for €6.50. The fish was delicious, and the sandwich was okay. Overall, the price/performance ratio was okay; you can definitely take it away, hence the 4 stars.

I honestly don't quite understand the hype. We got fish and chips to go. The fish was quite greasy and the fries weren't bad, but I've had better. The service was good, and the wait was okay considering it was so busy.

Delicious fried fish, right on the promenade. Good music, great people, a bit crowded, but worth it. Self-service, heated, and you can also sit in a beach chair. Enjoy Timmendorf and life. 🙂👍

Large selection, fresh and tasty food. Brilliant lemonade. I recommend it.

We've been going to this restaurant for years and were disappointed this year, except for the herring sandwiches. The cod was unfortunately overcooked, less so than in previous years, and the fried potatoes lacked the heat that the fish had overdone. I don't understand why you should tip for nonexistent service. I think they should take a leaf out of Hauswald's fish bar in Niendorf Harbor and invest more effort in good quality and service. At the Scharbeuz branch, at least the service is better than the one at Timmendorfer Strand. The quality of the food is similar.

For a "quick" meal, it's okay. I had a fish soup and wasn't particularly impressed. It was advertised as featuring premium fish and lots of ingredients. The only fish I had was a little salmon, and otherwise, a lot of vegetables. Perhaps it also depends on your understanding of fish soup. The matjes roll I bought the next day also left a lot to be desired in terms of the amount of matjes.

The food and drinks were very good and plentiful. Excellent value for money. Everything was very fresh. The fish counter was fantastic. The staff was friendly and quick. We sat comfortably in a beach chair and were able to unwind.

We had a herring and pollock sandwich, but the price/performance ratio was not really right. The toppings were very simple; other fish stalls were much better.

...I don't know what people expect when they go to a beach bar. The perfect dinner? How can you give it a star rating? For us, with the drinks on offer and the impeccable, polite, and friendly service, it was fantastic.

The food is okay, but a bit like a canteen, with a lot of slapping on the plate. You get smashed at the counter. The table cleaners are very friendly and nice. The fish sandwiches are delicious.

The staff clearing the tables are very polite and efficient. The service at the counter is also very friendly.

Sorry, but if I buy a fresh crab sandwich for 10 euros, I expect a fresh roll and not a very dark baked roll

I've been a big fan of Jürgen Gosch since the beginning on List. What's on offer here in Timmendorfer Strand isn't worthy of the Gosch name. We've had varying degrees of quality on several visits. Yesterday, however, the shrimp were lukewarm to cold, and the crab soup was terrible. Complaints were ignored. I can't recommend this place. Dear Jürgen, you don't deserve this. Greetings, see you soon on List.

We had the small shrimp pan. The shrimp had been in the pan too long. The side salad was only a tablespoon. And the baguette was inedible. As if it were from yesterday. The potato soup? No thanks.

Delicious food at a good price. Since it's a tourist area, it was very crowded. However, the food was prepared fairly quickly.

The winery doesn't take criticism seriously; they're just not interested. Go in if something isn't right! The fish died in vain, the mustard sauce was too dry. The wine was okay.

GOSCH—in our opinion, it's still THE address for lovers of fine fish dishes. Fair prices, generous portions, and professional preparation. We give our service 5 stars because we provide it ourselves 😉: GOSCH = self-service location. A prime location is standard at GOSCH. Timmendorf scores highly with its cozy beach chairs and a village location, complete with a promenade.

Whenever I'm by the Baltic or North Sea and a Gosch restaurant is nearby, the fish soup is a must for me – it's delicious! Unfortunately, I keep noticing that the service in Timmendorfer Strand leaves a lot to be desired, especially at the food counter. Friendliness and a simple "please" or "thank you" seem to be in short supply there. It's a real shame – because many other employees are very courteous and customer-oriented (hence the 3 out of 5 stars).

It's a shame. We've been going here for years, but unfortunately, the quality leaves a lot to be desired. The ambiance is still very nice, and you can enjoy your wine. Avoid eating there if possible! The prices are constantly rising, and the food quality is getting worse; something's not right.

Fried potatoes are only available with bacon. They should also be offered without bacon. No bottled Coke. Only available in glass. The customer is not king here.

Unfortunately, the sandwiches weren't fresh and were poorly prepared with only a few toppings. The fish was okay, but nothing more. The waitress slapped some sauce on one spot, which was also rather uncaring. It's a shame, but that's probably the end of Gosch for us.

I treated myself to a fishcake roll. Unfortunately, the fishcake roll was a huge disappointment. The roll was ice cold, and the roll was so dry because there was barely any remoulade on it. Even worse than the Bremen roll from Nordsee, and that was at Gosch.

We ordered two fish sandwiches. We got two cheap pre-baked rolls with onions and some bad fish. No lettuce or anything like that, no sauce or butter. Simply awful. Landed straight in the nearest trash can. The worst fish sandwich I've ever eaten.

The fish sandwiches weren't tasty and were made without love. The fish was dry and old, and they came with two huge slices of onion. I highly recommend against it!

I've been going to Gosch regularly for many years and have always been satisfied with the food and the atmosphere. The service staff in the restaurant also all do a great job and are very nice. But for some time now, someone has been sitting by the restrooms collecting money. And I want to be absolutely clear: They do a thankless job and depend on every euro – so my anger isn't directed at them. What I find truly outrageous, however, is the behavior of the company's management. Gosch is a huge franchise that really makes enough money with its high prices and enormous turnover. It should be a given to pay cleaning staff decently and in a socially fair way, instead of putting them in a situation where they have to collect additional money. A brand like Gosch, in particular, should take responsibility and show that there are other ways. Unfortunately, it seems as if cuts are being made in the wrong places – at the expense of people who are already working hard enough.

By now, everyone knows Gosch, so there's no need to say much more. The location on Timmendorfer Strand is centrally located in the pedestrian zone along the beach promenade. There are plenty of tables outside, shaded by umbrellas that not only protect you from the sun but also from the voracious seagulls. It's self-service. The prices are on the higher end. It's Gosch, after all. What has to be done, has to be done.

We love eating there, but were very irritated by our last visit. The service at the checkout was so rude that we almost wanted to leave right away. No hello, and an annoyed look when we ordered an additional portion of vegetables because it was apparently hard to find at the register. The restaurant was almost empty, so it couldn't have been due to stress. The customer after me was treated just as rudely. Luckily, the delicious food saved the mood.

Uncomplicated, relaxed atmosphere. Good food. Good wine.
