We actually had to experience a younger waitress who wasn't having such a good day. We wanted to go on a Sunday, July 14th. arrive at 6:10 p.m. There were 4 complete tables free outside. So we sat down at a table. After a short while a younger waitress came and said she wasn't serving the tables. When I briefly asked why that was the case, she replied that when it rains, she doesn't have enough tables available inside... Small spoiler alert, that day in Görlitz at 6 p.m. it was 25 degrees and there was a bright blue sky as far as the eye could see. Of course you don't have to be a meteorologist, but it would have been nice to just look up in all directions. Then you wouldn't have been able to see a single cloud. They probably didn't have enough staff that Sunday and used the "excuse" of not being able to offer an alternative if it rained. It's a shame, I have a lot of sympathy for the lack of staff, but to be told something like that as a guest in the weather situation is a bit cheeky. We'll avoid the potato house for now. We were actually always well served by an older lady. If there is the usual service again next time, there will definitely be 4-5 stars.

A cozy place in the heart of Görlitz. Prices moderately high, food very tasty. We ordered schnitzel and pork shank and both dishes met expectations. The pork shank is gigantic and well-baked, with a crispy skin. There are Polish-speaking people in the place, and a menu in Polish is also available. On the plus side - the place offers beer from the local Landskron brewery.

An atmospheric place to relax with good cuisine. While walking around Görlitz, we came across this potato attraction. After struggling to get through the original menu, a phenomenal girl approached us and with a wonderful smile and beautiful Polish asked if we wanted to take a look at the Polish menu 😁 She told us in detail about the dishes served, portion sizes, ingredients and additions. She's just great and has a great sense of humor. We placed our order and after a while we moved inside because it was a bit windy outside. A slight minus or a slight grating sound was the manager's slight frown upon our being moved inside, but after a while she talked to us with a radiant smile (in her native language, of course), serving us delicious dishes. It's worth getting lost here to relax and enjoy delicious regional cuisine. If there is an opportunity, we will come back here. Vielen Dank, alles war köstlich.

The food tasted good, nothing special. However, for us the price-performance ratio is not in proportion, the portions were quite small. The service was quick and served us in a friendly manner. We were particularly hoping for something special in the potato house, but unfortunately this didn't happen. We sat outside and can't comment on the ambience inside.

Only three stars for the ambience because I wasn't in the house...In the side street the seating was rustic but appropriate. The service was good and was able to provide information about a vegetable I was unfamiliar with! The food was delicious!

I have really positive memories of the potato house in Görlitz. I particularly liked the decor and the rustic atmosphere. The delicious food and the warm hospitality simply rounded off the overall impression. Almost everything was right for me that afternoon. The potato beer was also very good. One of the most beautiful corners in Görlitz during my visit to the old town.

Located in beautiful Görlitz, the restaurant is in the center of the city near the famous old department store, which has often served as a backdrop to good films. 🎥 You can spend a few days of vacation here in a varied way, as there is a lot to discover.

Had dinner there today and it was perfect. Very nice atmosphere and good food. What I've never seen before - such a perfectly coordinated team that gets everything done smoothly. Two very nice waitresses for many, many tables inside and outside and always with a smile on their faces without stress and hectic but still quickly and absolutely perfect. Thanks.

Service: super friendly girls, nothing to complain about! The taste of the food was good to just okay. Salad dressing was very tasteless, even if the salad looked really nice, but even salt and pepper didn't help. Portions far too small for both of our opinions as a main course. Fire meat and fried potatoes tasted great. I ordered 1 portion of fries as an emergency solution for the “large” salad with turkey strips as a side dish, as there is nothing with the salad, including no bread, despite €15.95! Unfortunately there were no baked potatoes, they were probably out (and in a “potato house”?) We were surprised at the bill (3.95€ red/white fries + adult fee 5.00€) 1. I wasn't offered ketchup or mayonnaise , 2. It was just a side dish! When asked how the price came about: It was a large portion of fries and the price on the menu is only for a side dish or children's portion, it is also stated on the menu. Insolence to the power of 10! There is nothing on the menu that says an extra charge is required or anything like that and I wasn't informed of this when I ordered. If I had known that, I certainly would have gotten up and not eaten anything there. The waitress can't help it, of course they get it, but for me it's a complete rip-off! Personally, I wouldn't eat there again for the reasons mentioned.

An impressive number of reviews on Google and we didn't get a spot spontaneously, so I recommend making a reservation. And if it doesn't work, keep trying. It's a cozy, small restaurant that has a rustic charm and is so popular because of its "simplicity" - that's just what I call it. I had a knuckle and if you haven't just finished Lent, you can't manage such a mess. So if you want to eat a knuckle, it's best not to eat anything three days beforehand. The story about the naming of the fried potato is also very amusing. :_) A visit is recommended.

The interior is super, you want to look at everything!!!! The waitress is super, stylish and sweet!!!! Food 50/50. I really liked the meat in beer with cabbage and tender potato dumplings!!!! The soup is just mashed potato soup, delicious, I took it with salmon, my son took it with sausages. Just salmon and sausages on top. They even forgot to put sausages on my son, they just brought soup))) Then they brought cut up pieces of sausage. The soup itself is delicious, but I don’t recommend these additives 🤷🤦The soup. Baked potatoes with filling, I didn’t like it.

You should definitely visit the potato house, regardless of whether you are hungry or small! It's really delicious! Loving and cozy guest room, such a real feel-good atmosphere. The food is delicious and the menu has a good selection. Between 6 p.m. and 8 p.m. it was so full that you had to wait over an hour for your food. The restaurant is rustic and cozy and the waiters are warm, funny and service-oriented.

We ate like we used to eat with mom and grandma, the menu is great and lovingly designed. The waitresses made us feel really welcome. We will be back!

A very interesting place that is definitely worth visiting when in Goerlitz. All dishes are based on potatoes, even the soups contain only potatoes. Simple and tasty food, nicely presented. Portions are just right, there is a children's menu. The service was quite rude, we had to look for the EN/PL menu ourselves.

I do not recommend. Despite my sincere intentions, I and my family were not able to try the food. No interest in the customer, no respect, very rude staff, especially the waitress. I rate the atmosphere three stars because the place was decorated very nicely. The waitress informed us that there were no free tables, but she was able to find a table for the Germans (they did not have a reservation). The place looked promising, so we were shocked by the approach to customers. Maybe when the service changes, the place will be worth recommending. Embarrassing.

A very nice restaurant with traditional German food. Menu in Polish. We ordered the classic bratwurst with cold potatoes, potato pancakes with horseradish and salmon (delicious) and potato casserole. The meal was very tasty, I recommend it.

Had a wonderful meal here. Price performance ratio was great! Attentive waiters who also pay attention to dogs and provide them with water without having to ask for it! I thought it was a really great gesture! The schnitzel is homemade and super tasty! Fried potatoes crispy and full to our liking. Portion size was mega! We sat outside because of the dog, but dogs are always welcome in the restaurant too! It is a comfortably furnished restaurant. We'll definitely come back!!

I can't really say much except it's a bit expensive and you have to pay extra for the side dish, etc. the small croquettes with 5 pieces for 4.95 euros. The schnitzel tastes very good. The potato casseroles could use a little more seasoning!!!

Were here for the first time and are wondering whether we will even come here again. The potato casserole was seasoned quite poorly and I personally didn't particularly like it. My friend had spiced meat with croquettes. He liked it quite a bit. We think the small croquettes for €4.95 (only 5 pieces) are quite overpriced. The service was very nice and the ambience was ok.

Unfortunately I can't rate the food because we didn't come to eat. We reserved in advance and presented the confirmation printed out. Unfortunately, the reservation from the office to the service wasn't made through and so we stood in the restaurant and had no space. So far so good, it can happen. But there was neither a sincere apology nor a compromise sought. We were simply ignored. We waited half an hour to get a response. It was only when we left the restaurant disappointed and expressed our opinions loudly that we apologized. During our wait we were able to observe the "extremely friendly" service and were ultimately happy to leave our money in a much friendlier restaurant. Unfortunately, hospitality is very underplayed here.

I had beef roulade with red cabbage and dumplings. The roulade wasn't seasoned well and therefore tasted too bland. The red cabbage was also not seasoned enough. In addition, it was cooked too soft and was a bit mushy. The dumplings were ok. The ambience is a matter of taste. I do not like it.

When I'm home, a visit to the potato house is always part of it. Everything just fits here... super tasty food, great ambience and courteous service.
