Good Essen Thai in Duisburg

Rude service, filthy environment, alright food. Not worth it.

Unfortunately, that was my last time. Something went wrong with the order; I ordered "fried noodles with chicken" and paid right away. At home, I noticed that I got fried rice instead of noodles. When I returned to the store, they rudely claimed that I should have noticed, as I would have been given a euro less. So, after I had to run twice and were accused of not having a basic grasp of German, I got the fried noodles (with the now soft and cold chicken from the other dish). I didn't get the extra euro back either. So, anyone expecting service here is in the wrong place. The food itself was okay.

The food was delicious, and the portions were large. The service was terrible. I've never encountered anyone as grumpy and rude as the woman who served us anywhere else.

I've been avoiding this Chinese takeaway for a while now because it has nothing to do with Thai food. Moreover, both are very unfriendly!!! If you want delicious Thai food, you should go to Dellplatz "NUH'S." There, you'll receive a friendly welcome and farewell (appreciation), and the lunch menu is excellent value for money.

The food didn't taste good, and there were two hairs in it. Very unfriendly staff. They didn't even understand German properly.

I was here for the first time about 4 weeks ago during a visit to Duisburg city centre: First of all, it's not authentic Thai food, it's Asian food! - I can only agree with most people. The service (an older man and woman) was very dismissive and unfriendly, plus there was the language barrier, but the food (chicken gung bao) was very tasty and a good, generous portion. But be careful, if you say spicy, it really is spicy! (which isn't always the case with most places). I ate the food on the small terrace and then brought the empty plate inside (hoping they would be happy about this gesture, as the food was brought to me), but again the man behind the counter quickly came around from behind the counter, stood in front of me and said a nasty, unfriendly "You're welcome!" He took the plate, I said "I want to pay" and I was told the amount due (no "I liked it" or even a "thank you"). I said "bye" twice (to the man inside and the woman outside) and no reaction! If the staff (owner!!!) were friendlier, I would have given a better rating because the food (at least the Chinese dishes) was good. It's a shame.

If you like things particularly expansive and unfriendly, this is the place for you. The ambiance matches the relatively low prices of the dishes, but the service from the chef and owner is absolutely abysmal. At first, it feels like an eternity until your order is taken at the counter with a decidedly unfriendly "yes?", even though you were already noticed out of the corner of your eye upon entering the restaurant. Then, in response, you're muttered the price, which was higher than stated on the daily menu. The subtle hint of this was finally and even more harshly dismissed with: "Only until xx o'clock! You have to read that right!" The difference was only 50 cents, but anyone who treats potential guests or new customers like that has probably already made their target daily revenue. So, it's a good thing that there are plenty of other restaurants nearby that serve warm, Asian-inspired dishes for those on a tight budget. Good Essen Thai won't get a second chance from me, in any case.

Unfortunately not authentic Thai food. I ordered Pad Thai here and it comes with fried noodles with fried shrimp. No tamarind sauce. Extremely salty. The owners are not Thai but Chinese. Unfortunately the kitchen was very dingy and the service was also very poor. Can't recommend that.

I ordered a green Thai curry. I received an orange slimy sauce. When I raised the question of whether I had received the wrong dish, I was loudly insulted. The owner explained to me quite loudly that I didn't order curry soup, so they would cook the normal curries, and no customer complains to them, it always tastes good, and I'm unlucky, and so on. But I know their curries; I am or WAS a customer to this day. You can let go of the fact that the food doesn't taste good. But such behavior is unacceptable.

So really not good... Very simple... Nothing in the soup except coconut milk. That was really cheeky.. Sate skewers were horrible... visually and in terms of taste. Peanut sauce was seriously the worst sauce I've ever eaten and fried noodles were oily, greasy and had no vegetables in them. The aftertaste is extremely unpleasant. Sorry that wasn't Thai food. Everything thrown away in the hotel. Should have assessed the visual condition of the store based on how it felt there.

Delicious food but communication problems The food at this Thai restaurant is truly outstanding – fresh, tasty and generous portions. The prices are very affordable and the cleanliness and friendliness of the staff are exemplary. However, there are always problems with ordering and payment. Due to language barriers, orders can get mixed up and you end up paying more than expected. This can somewhat tarnish the otherwise positive impression. But if you have patience, you can get good food here at fair prices. I hope that communication improves in the future!

Unfortunately, the prices are significantly more expensive than the pictures of the menu show. The food was so packaged that everything was just soggy. But it tasted good.

I ate there for the first time today. Unfortunately quite disappointed, the food isn't really good and not to mention the price. I ordered the red Thai curry with shrimps and water. Vegetables and frozen shrimp were soaked in what felt like half a liter of coconut milk. The water was a PET 0.5 liter from Netto, an absolute no go for €2.50. The staff hardly spoke any German, which made communication difficult. The catering area is quite small and not really hygienic. The food and cutlery were served succinctly and carelessly. Once and never again with Thai cuisine as I know it, absolutely far away. I can't understand the good reviews.

Really cheap but not good cheap food. Visited because of the good reviews, unfortunately a flop. Snack bar was small, cramped and poorly ventilated. Owners hardly speak German. The snack bar was attended by 6 people and the waiting time for the food was 40 minutes. One dish after the other was prepared. Very low price, which was also reflected in the food. Very strong use of flavor enhancers that stayed in the mouth for hours even after eating. If you want cheap hot food, you're in good hands here. If you are looking for real, tasty Thai dishes, you should avoid the snack bar.

Exceptionally bad Pad Thai. I was here alone for dinner and can't understand the good reviews. The Pad Thai had nothing to do with the original. Extremely oily and completely tasteless. The choice of vegetables used was also unusual: runner beans and peppers. The shrimp were fried. Pad Thai is actually a fresh, light noodle dish, but this one is exactly the opposite. The fact that the store has no ambience and is absolutely uncomfortable is of secondary importance. The fact that the food took forever doesn't matter considering the quality.

The food and the prices are amazing. The interior is not that cozy but that doesnt matter. The owners are very hard working. It does have a shrimp smell, and i do think they put fish sauce in the chicken dish, so if you are allergic it might not be the safest option. I really loved the soup. I would like to come back to try more food options.

We have been to this Thai restaurant several times and each time we have been treated poorly. On our first visit we were kicked out because friends of the owners came and they just wanted to take our place. Absolutely outrageous! The following visits were no better: once I found a fly in the soy sauce, the other time a hair in the food. When I showed the hair to the employee, she simply took it away and claimed it was from an onion. The owner even said they buy the vegetables from Aldi - I still don't understand what that has to do with hygiene. The owners are consistently unfriendly and barely speak any German, which makes it even more difficult to talk to them about these issues. Every time it was a disaster - poor hygiene and even worse service. Absolutely not recommended!

So from the outside it looks very run down but the food tastes fabulous. At least the 36 and the tom kha gai soup. Absolute heart recommendation. Also the cold salads. A little too spicy though.

Two of us ate there yesterday, a small, beautiful shop with authentic cuisine and delicious food. You have to expect a bit of a wait, but it's worth it. Reasonably priced.

Even though it wasn't busy, we had to wait a long time for our food (45 minutes). Due to the unfriendly service, we ended up leaving without eating.

The food is really good, the cook helped us to select the dishes and when I showed him the photos from previous reviews he described and did personal recommendations (also asked how much spicy for each dish). the relation cost-benefit definitely a 10/10... the photo is the gäng kuo ped and it is amazing

The store is really unhygienic. The kitchen is dirty and chaotic. Every customer should get their own impression before eating something here. And that in the city center - I don't understand why the responsible authorities overlook such unhygienic restaurants. Disgusting !

Unfortunately not a positive experience. The service was very rude and unfriendly. The fried rice came quickly but was completely over seasoned! The fried noodles, which were ordered at the same time, arrived 40 minutes after the rice and therefore almost 1 hour after ordering and were very fluffy. Then there was the statement that there was no sauce except sweet and sour, Sriracha or soy sauce, while other guests had other sauces. All in all: Not worth another visit!

Unfriendly staff! I just wanted some information about the food and was rejected in a completely unfriendly manner. The only question was whether you had edamame. It was the first and last time, I've never experienced anything like it.

I can recommend that if you are willing to pay n euros more than at the fast food Asian around the corner you will get a decent portion and the taste is not that one-size-fits-all vegetable lump. Everything is super delicious (just be careful, it's hot with him). N(!)ce and cozy

AMAZING duck coconut curry (gäng kou ped) . Deceptively large portion for the price and very filling. Definitely try it if you get the chance. Lovely little mom and pop restaurant.

First impression and also the last, I went to this snack bar. Was very small like a chip shop. 2 small tables where people ate when not a large customer base. When I wanted to place an order the woman didn't seem to understand me. And then left the snack bar to take a break. Very unfriendly, I quickly left this unfriendly food without ordering. You will be treated better in the forum. So I can't recommend that

A snack bar that can compete with many restaurants. Everyone gets full here, the food is super tasty, steaming fresh and comes to the table. If you order Thai spicy, you'll get it, that's how it has to be. The chef speaks a very interesting dialect. Great value for money, gladly again.

Inconspicuous snack bar that offers authentic Thai dishes. It tastes better than most (even significantly more expensive) Thai restaurants and the ingredients used are largely correct and of good quality.

The food is always freshly prepared and is at the level of a restaurant. Both the starters, main courses and sushi are simply delicious. Special requests (e.g. with different meat or no meat at all) are always easily and happily accommodated. Don't be put off by the snack bar atmosphere, a real pearl in Duisburg if you want to eat Thai. "see you in the morning!"

A really great place to eat. As a former Duisburg resident, I still come regularly from Dorsten. The dishes are tasty, cheap and plentiful. Sushi also tastes really delicious. This takes time to prepare, so please allow a few extra minutes.

Dieser kleine Laden ist wirklich ein Geheimtipp! Für einen sehr fairen Preis erhält man hier sehr leckeres Essen. Der Besitzer ist immer höflich und für einen kleinen Plausch bereit (Wenn sie denn in der Lage sind mit ihm zu kommunizieren, aber wir multikulti duisburger haben das ja drauf) . Ich gehe seit der Eröffnung, zwar nicht mehr so regelmäßig, hin und das essen ist nicht schlechter geworden. Der Laden ist sehr klein und hat keine Sanitäranlagen, aber für das was er darstellt, braucht er es auch nicht, er hat seinen eigenen charme. Wem die inneren Werte wichtiger sind als die aussendarstellung, der ist hier richtig. Wer für den Preis authentische Küche verlangt, ist hier falsch und sollte deswegen keine schlechte bewertung abgeben (oder lesen lernen, der laden nennt sich selbst Imbiss) . Es schmeckt mir hier deutlich besser als in einigen umgebenden asia Restaurants und ich habe jedes einzelne in der Innenstadt getestet.

Sehr frisches und leckeres Essen . So lecker dass wir uns für morgen noch was mitgenommen haben . Chef kann sehr gut kochen und ist außerdem auch super nett .Wir kommen aus Kempen auf jeden Fall wieder !

Das Essen wird super frisch zubereitet und ist sehr lecker! Für die Preise bekommt man eine sehr große Portion. Reis mit Hähnchen und Reis mit rotem Curry und Gemüse sind sehr zu empfehlen. Wir kommen definitiv wieder hier her.

Große Auswahl an Gerichten und sehr leckeres Essen. Pad Thai und Curry kann man nur empfehlen. Es wird viel Gemüse genutzt sowie auch asiatische Kräuter und Gewürze. Sehr lecker und der Preis ist wirklich fair. Klare Empfehlung!

Für einen Imbiss ist der Laden sehr gut. Die Sushis waren gut, und die Ente war sehr lecker. Auf Wunsch war das Essen scharf. Für mich könnte es noch schärfer sein, da ich viel vertragen kann. Die beiden Leute dort sind sehr nett. Die Frau hatte anfangs ein etwas eigenartiges Verhalten, aber es passt schon. Der Laden ist um ein Vielfaches besser als der Laden nebenan.

Super. Reicht eigenlich, aber klar ein paar Worte schaden nicht... .. Bitte beachten es ist kein Restaurant, aber das Essen ist sehr gut und nicht zu teuer. Der Inhaber ist sehr nett und geht auf Wünsche ein..... Also 5 Sterne!

This has to be one of the best Thai restaurants in Europe. I've eaten here 6-7 times over the last two weeks while attending a trade show in Dusseldorf. Every dish is exceptional... You won't have a more authentic thai experience outside of Thailand... We'll be back next year for more...

Gut essen oder schick essen? hier bekommst du auf jeden Fall sehr gutes original zubereitetes Essen das Ambiente ist spartanisch aber sauber. Alle Speisen gibt's auch zum Mitnehmen Kräuter sind erntefrisch du kannst den Topf Basilikum sehen sehr originell

Heute zum wiederholten zum Essen dagewesen. Wie immer freundliche Bedienung, wenn auch sprachlich nicht immer einfach ist es möglich zu bestellen. Auf Wünsche wird eingegangen. Die Zutaten sind frisch, das Essen ist heiß und lecker. Wir werden, wenn wir in Duisburg sind, immer gerne essen kommen.

This is not even Thai food. Everything is so wrong. Please Thai food is not like this at all. We ordered Tom yum kung, we got 3 fried shrimps in a coconut milk soup, just that nothing else. It’s not even a Tom yum! We also ordered 2 fried rices, which are terribly wrong!!!! The prices are friendly but if you wanted to eat THAI FOOD/ THAILÄNDISCHES ESSEN, trust me (I’m Thai) this is not the place.

Für mich das beste asiatische Essen überhaupt. Der kleine Laden sieht von außen vielleicht nicht so einladend aus, aber bekommt von mir uneingeschränkte Weiterempfehlung. Das Essen ist immer frisch und sehr, sehr lecker. Sonderwünsche werden erfüllt, Reste können eingepackt werden, die Portionen sind groß und die Preise klein. Nicht zuletzt sind der Koch und seine Frau herzensgute Menschen und immer freundlich. Gehe regelmäßig dort essen und es ist dort aus guten Gründen fast immer gut besucht. Weiter so!

Ganz lecker für einen kleinen Imbiss

Hatte gebratene Nudeln süß sauer mit pannierten Hähnchenstreifen. Hab es aufgegessen weil ich Hunger hatte. Als reiner Imbiss noch okay, als Restaurant eher nicht. Da gibt es Bessere. Auch wenn vermutlich nicht so günstig. Für den Preis sollte man die Ansprüche runterfahren. Das Lokal ist sauber und die Bedienung war zuvorkommend und freundlich - einwandfrei 👍🏼

Der Standort und der Laden an sich sind jetzt nicht wirklich einladen, aber das Essen ist super und der Inhaber sehr nett. Gebackene Banane ist der Hammer!

Eine sehr tolle Adresse! Der Inhaber ist äußerst freundlich, respektvoll und wertschätzend. Wir waren zu sechst hier und haben sehr lecker gegessen. Es gibt auch eine vegetarische Auswahl und sogar Helal-Food. Das Essen war frisch zubereitet und insgesamt sehr günstig. Immer wieder gern! 😍
