Gong Bao in Dortmund

We went to Gong Bao twice, and once it was quite okay, the other time a real disappointment. The dishes taste okay, except for the grilled dish – I thought that was really good. There's always only a little in the bowls, which I generally think is a good thing, but I found it annoying that I had to keep pointing out when something was empty, which happened incredibly often. On top of that, the price is really high. In my opinion, other restaurants simply offer much more, better quality, and a nicer atmosphere for the same price.

Nice restaurant with good food. The only thing is that "Happy Birthday" tune can get a bit annoying after hearing it three or four times. Unfortunately, there's no escaping it.

Everything is a bit shabby, the walls are stained, the tables are old. But the food is normal (although the choice is not big) and the staff is friendly.

We were there yesterday and we loved it. The food was delicious, and there was a large selection of drinks included in the buffet price. Hot drinks were also available. There are high chairs and a play area for children. The restrooms, however, are no longer nice and need to be renovated.

Today, four of us went to Gong Bao; we've been eating there regularly for several years. Unfortunately, I have to say that the quality of the food has declined considerably over the last two times. The Mongolian buffet is still good and tasty, but the regular Chinese buffet is no longer good. Some of the food is cold, tastes sticky, as if it's been sitting there for a while or is old, and some of it isn't seasoned at all. The drinks package doesn't help much, because we want to eat well, not drink ourselves to the bone. Sorry, but we won't be coming back for a while.

We were there for lunch. The selection was okay for us. But compared to the evening meal, it was limited. It was delicious.

Wir waren mit mit 5 Pers. zgl. 3 Kinder da. Mein Vater sitzt im Rollstuhl.. Um 17,30 öffnet dieses Lokal.... Die Bedienung hat die Tür aufgeschlossen ( aber ein NOGO ) nicht die Tür aufgehalten !!!! NAJA Essen war OK... Viele Beilagen waren fast roh ( Broccoli ) sowie andere Beilagen auch... Ich war zum 1.mal... Komme aus Dorsten... Die erdnuss-sauce ( ich liebe sie ) unter aller Würde!!!!... Schmeckt nach Wasser.... zu einen preis von 35€ pro Pers..... Nie Wieder das ist es nicht wert

Hi, it was my first time in this restaurant and I couldn't help but be amazed because even when there were 12 of us, we were greeted in a really friendly manner and the service staff explained everything to us, where we could get drinks and how the really great and delicious buffet works, from side dishes to fried meat, fish and much more, everything I ate was just delicious and there was an empty plate on the table that was cleared away by the service staff. Everything I've eaten here so far has been very tasty. The selection of drinks is very large and there really is something for everyone. I find it very difficult to rate this restaurant. I can totally recommend Gong Bao for one group of people, but for the other group I would advise against it. Personally, I really like the style of the decor there. Everything is clean and the service is courteous, quick and friendly. Overall, I enjoyed the food from the buffet. I also thought the selection was very good! For the plate, which was specially prepared, I chose a piece of beef and a lamb cutlet. Both were terrible! The meat was fried ok, so it wasn't tough, but the taste was extremely borderline. In my opinion, this is not due to the preparation, but rather the product itself. So buffet 4 stars, the Mongolian grill -2. Let's talk about price, which brings me back to the groups of people mentioned at the beginning. If you want to take 2.5 hours and mainly like the buffet - TOP. Definitely go there, drink 3 beers worth 10 euros and eat for 20 euros. Then the 30 euro price with drinks flat rate fits well. I was there today with my 11 year old daughter. 60 euros! Or 120 euros for 2 adults and 2 children. Why does my daughter have to pay as much for a soda as a 120kg man for 4 beers? That really annoyed me and that's why I can't recommend the restaurant for people with children. For 60 euros I would rather go to a nice restaurant with my daughter. As always: everyone has to decide for themselves, this is just my personal opinion 😉

I finally wanted to give a review, We've been eating there for years. The food is always hot and delicious too. The staff is friendly and the used dishes are cleared away immediately. BUT since there is this time limit, you are immediately told in your face that you can ONLY stay here for 2.5 hours (otherwise you have to pay) then you immediately don't feel like it anymore and would like to turn around and leave, because if so man already pays €30 per person, and that's €130 per family, and we go there with several families and then you pay €500 and you want to spend the time together and eat something and chat in peace, but You then constantly look at the clock because it has remained in the back of your mind because of these strange TIME LIMITS!!!

We've been coming to Gong Bao for many years, but our visit last night was of the lowest quality. Never again. All hot meat dishes were only lukewarm and tasted the same, full of glutamate and the cheapest meat. The duck was just cartilage and fat, canned mushrooms and fried rice that was dried out and squished together and stuck in the container. The whole buffet is inferior and overpriced Diarrhea and stomach cramps accompanied me all night long.

Everything was delicious, price/performance was right. There are a few parking spaces and the robot sings HAPPY Birthday and serves the fried food. The staff is also nice and quick, with a smile on their faces. The location is a bit old school.

There was live music. Discreet!

Food was ok but unfortunately everything tasted pretty much the same. And I think it has become very expensive. We paid 81 euros for 3 people (2 adults, 1 child), which is really steep. Especially since a 7-year-old child doesn't eat nearly enough to justify just under 20 euros, unfortunately they won't be coming back
