The food and value for money are very good. Friendly service and a pleasant outdoor area with a view of St. Sebaldus Church. Highly recommended!

The asparagus cream soup and Obazda (traditional German sausage) were excellent. Just what you'd expect in a German restaurant.

An old-German restaurant with Franconian and German cuisine and excellent food! I highly recommend it. We devoured the asparagus with Wiener Schnitzel or with grilled sausages!

As "true Nurembergers," a little bratwurst stop is a must for us on almost every trip to the city. Since we love Sebalder Platz, we went to the Goldenes Posthorn again today... and were very disappointed: The bratwursts were undercooked, completely pink inside, the cabbage barely seasoned... and the worst of it was the price – 6 bratwursts with cabbage for €15.50. At Häusle, you can get the same thing for €9.50, and both the cabbage and the bratwurst are incomparably better! What a shame about the beautiful place! It wasn't the service's fault; it was okay.

Terrible service. I stopped for a beer and was told to stay only 30 minutes because I wasn't going to eat. When I went to pay, the waiter told me that he would only accept card payments if the payment was over €15. Obviously, this was not stated anywhere. In the end, he was even ironic and reluctantly accepted the card.

Rude old man ejected us from our seat before we had even ordered because he had other customers who wanted our table. It was not courteous and we had chosen a shady table and he rudely pointed us to a sunny table. When we said we wanted shady he rudely argued that we should just accept the hot table - there was an umbrella that could have been put up but he refused. We left.

We sat down at a table that was clearly just vacated because it had dirty plates. Just wanted a cold beer. This old man moved in and told us we must move to a table in the Sun. It wasn't reserved but he was insistent. I think the man was the owner. Poor customer service. Do not go to this rude mans place. He is just a lousy example of customer service. He is just rude. Edited - I've read a few other reviews and it seems the old bloke really is a problem. Stay away.

Solid nice restaurant. The beer garden invites you to linger. It was a shame that I had to see how a waiter talked a guest who only spoke broken English into a very large tip. Therefore only one star in service.

Very good food. Incredibly great ambience. Extremely attentive and friendly staff! Absolutely recommended! Had a family celebration today. For this occasion, the tables were festively set. Every dish ordered was exceptionally good. The staff is unobtrusive, yet always present, very quick and extremely friendly. Our main contact Marius gave us good advice and left nothing to be desired. We felt very comfortable and will definitely come back. Thank you very much for the lovely hours and the delicious food.

Rarely have we experienced such an unfriendly waiter. Only after a complaint to the owner did another waiter and the owner come to us, wanting to iron out his colleague's displeasure. Unfortunately, the nasty, extremely unfriendly waiter was always at the station and always made his displeasure known. The other waiter was great. However, after this visit we had no intention of visiting this restaurant again. Too bad

Five of us were here for lunch and when I'm in Nuremberg again, I'll come back. Very friendly staff and nice atmosphere. As an allergy sufferer, I also received good advice and had a good meal. Highly recommended.

Old-established restaurant with outside seating in the car-free zone of the old town. Opposite the famous Sebalduskirchw and close to the main market. Delicious Franconian food with attentive service. Had buttered asparagus with grilled sausage, potatoes and schnitzel from the asparagus menu. Was very good.

Good Franconian food, fast, friendly service and a great view of the Sebald Church

Das Goldene Posthorn ist die älteste Weinstube Deutschlands. Der Service war nett und aufmerksam. Wir saßen drin, unten. Das Ambiente ist bayrisch, rustikal. Das Essen (Vorspeiseplatte, Schäufele, Nürnberger) war lecker und die Portionen ausreichend. Wie in einer guten Weinstube konnte man auch nach dem Essen noch gemütlich bei weiteren Gläsern Weinen verweilen. Sehr gemütlich. Für Dessert hat es bei diesem Besuch aufgrund der Vorspeise leider nicht mehr gereicht. Die Auswahl an offenen Weinen ist klein, aber gut. Die Weinkarte kann ich empfehlen. Bier (lokal von Tucher) gibt’s natürlich auch.

Nice to sit outside, we were there several times, the food was OK, but the last few times we weren't treated hospitably. The first thing the owner asked us was whether we just wanted to drink something or eat something, otherwise she wouldn't have room. Hence my application.

Offered a table for a beer, then refused service because I did not order food. I got up to leave, saying I would write a 1* review. The waiter then did offer me a beer on the house, which I accepted but paid for. I complained to the elderly owner and his wife. The outside seating area was only a 3rd full. The owner was exceptionally rude to me. Out of respect for his age I did not argue, but I was astounded at his extremely unfriendly and disrespectful attitude. AVOID!

The four of us had a delicious meal here and received excellent and very friendly service from Marius. Keep it up and thank you!

Unsympathetic waiter who initially urged us to order faster. Dishes take a long time. Instead of the stated 25 minutes, it took over an hour. Then it wasn't particularly special.

It's a shame what has become of the Golden Posthorn. Simply no longer recommended. This is probably due to the manners of the couple who run the restaurant, which were similarly unpleasant in other (former) restaurants.

The traditional cuisine impresses with Franconian specialties such as schäufele and original Nürnberger bratwürste. The prices are reasonable. The staff is attentive, and on sunny days, you can enjoy sitting outside. A visit is highly recommended for anyone who wants to experience regional cuisine in a historic setting.

Es geht hier nur um einen Kellner, der vermutlich aus Italien stammt. Sehr unfreundlich und garstig. Wir waren sehr hungrig und waren wegen Mittagessen in diesem Restaurant. Vorher haben wir uns unterwegs ein Kugel Eis gekauft und in dem Moment, wo wir im Restaurant den Tisch gefunden haben, waren wir mit dem Eis fast fertig und hielten fast leere Becher in der Hand. Der Kellner, ohne uns zu begrüßen, hat als erstes eine Bemerkung gemacht, dass wir „kein Eis hier essen dürfen“. Worauf ich geantwortet habe, wir sind eigentlich zum Essen da. Wieder der Kellner in einem absolut unfreundlichen Ton „ihr dürft hier Eis essen nur wenn ihr es bei uns bestellt“. Na ja, das Mittagessen haben wir irgendwo anders gegessen.

This is just about a waiter who is probably from Italy. Very unfriendly and nasty. We were very hungry and went to this restaurant for lunch. Beforehand, we bought a scoop of ice cream on the way and the moment we found the table in the restaurant, we were almost finished with the ice cream and were holding almost empty cups in our hands. The waiter, without greeting us, first made a remark that “we are not allowed to eat ice cream here”. To which I replied, we are actually there for dinner. Again the waiter said in an absolutely unfriendly tone: “You can only eat ice cream here if you order it from us”. Well, we ate lunch somewhere else.

Unfortunately, overall it's just average when it comes to food, ambience and service. Given the history of the house, I expected more. After all, it is quite cheap. I had braised ox cheeks in juniper cream sauce with glazed grapes and napkin dumplings for 16.50 euros (March 2025).

At €22 I can expect the goose leg to be crispy...

Delicious food, local dishes from local products, an extensive menu, so you can easily choose a dish. The service was very nice, the location was a bit out of the way, so it was quiet and peaceful. Beer from a local brewery.

A very unfriendly and child-unfriendly employee. We wanted to quickly change our daughter's diaper and weren't guests. So I specifically asked an employee beforehand if that was okay, as it was cold outside. The employee said yes and pointed us to the women's restroom. When I returned, an older employee stopped me at the door and asked me if I was serious about changing my child here as a non-guest. She said it was outrageous and utterly disgusted. I was so shocked by this child-unfriendly behavior and have never experienced anything like it in 10 months of motherhood.

Als gebürtiger Nürnberger wollte ich gern 12 statt 6 Bratwürste und bestellte das Brot bei meiner Bestellung, von Kartoffelsalat,! ab! Ich fragte noch extra den Kellner, wieviel eine Bratwurst hierbei kosten würde und erhielt als Preis 1 Euro genannt, soweit so gut, zumindest dachte ich dies, bis zur Lieferung des Essens. Hierbei fiel auf, daß sowohl Kartoffelsalat, wie bestellt, aber auch Brot (trotz Abbestellung) geliefert wurde. Meine Bemerkung, daß ich das Brot abbestellt hatte, interessierte den Kellner so überhaupt nicht, was er mit der Bemerkung "ist sowieso dabei" abtat!?, verstand ich aber erst später. Bei der Rechnung wurde auch nicht etwa ein Abschlag (für das nicht gewünschte Brot) abgezogen sondern munter aufaddiert: "Normaler Preis" = 11,50€ + 6X1,50€ (Bratwürste Stck !1,5€!) = 9€ + Kartoffelsalat 3€ = 23,50€, was sich nur noch als Touri-Abzocke für 12 Bratwürste bezeichnen läßt !!! Der "Kunde" muß dafür büßen, daß man nicht frei zusammenstellen kann, wieviele Bratwürste man möchte (mit klarer Preisstruktur) und die Beilagen ebenfalls frei wählen kann (bei klarer Preisstruktur!). Daher KEINE EMPFEHLUNG FÜR DIESES LOKAL! Gehen Sie besser 150 Meter weiter näher zum Hauptmarkt, hier können Sie frei wählen und wenn Sie eine Brezel dazu nehmen möchten zahlen Sie auch nur diese Brezel extra!!!

The meat is tender and delicious. It's a little salty and there's a lot of sauce in the salad.

Great Franconian food & beer in the heart of Nuremberg. The outside terrace is on a small plaza behind St. Sebald church, which makes for a picturesque meal.

We ate here twice within 2 days! On both days we were warmly welcomed by the boss and shown to the table. The service was very friendly both times and the food and drinks came very quickly. Nuremberg bratwursts, bratwurst dumplings, Schäufele and duck leg are highly recommended dishes.

We celebrated our civil wedding there and were there for dinner and to discuss the celebration. The Krestel couple are super polite and accommodating. The service was top and so was the food. Everything worked out great as discussed. We were also able to design everything flexibly. Can only be recommended. We always enjoy coming back.

We were lucky and got a table for two without a reservation. And I was even luckier that the cabbage wraps were available that day. They were very tasty. Yesterday I was in Nuremberg with a friend. We discovered this restaurant by chance. We were able to sit outside. Our snacks (Nuremberger bratwurst and Obazder) were very, very good. Waren heute gegen 13.00 Uhr im Goldenen Posthorn. Sehr Uhrig das Lokal. Bedienung sehr freundlich. Nach nur 10 Minuten kam das Tagesgericht. Kalbsbraten mit Waldpilz Rahmsoße und rohen Kartoffelklößen. Sehr lecker geschmeckt.

We had a company event with 20 people. Right from the start, Mr. Krestel welcomed us warmly and the super friendly wait staff looked after us very well. During a trip to Nuremberg, I was lucky enough to visit the Goldenes Posthorn restaurant, and I had only the most positive impressions! The cozy atmosphere, thought out to the smallest detail, immerses you in the traditions of Bavarian cuisine and hospitality. Top notch service: The staff were very attentive, friendly and professional. The food deserves special delight! I especially liked the meat in a delicate sauce, served with potato dumplings and cranberry sauce. This is a real gastronomic masterpiece! If you are looking for a place to try authentic local cuisine, Goldenes Posthorn is the perfect choice. History, tradition and impeccable service are combined here. I recommend it to everyone who appreciates quality and atmosphere!

The sausages were good and the potato salad is to die for! I think they gave us too many sauces for the amount of sausages that we had, so I felt bad wasting that food.

The food and service were excelent

At first we were a little surprised - and a little skeptical - because the food came within 10 minutes, but this was not at the expense of the quality. It was probably so quick because we ordered from the Christmas menu and the food was already largely prepared (my guess). In any case, it was super tasty and the service was great, and the restaurant is really nice and it's fun to experience a piece of history in the oldest wine bar in Germany. We had the goose breast and it was just perfect, super tender, juicy meat. The crust was nice and crispy and very well seasoned, I don't normally like crust but this crust was top. The dumplings were great and the red cabbage was also very tasty. The only disadvantage is that the red cabbage had to be paid for as an extra side dish and was not included in the normal dish.

I had a terrible experience at this place. The waiter was extremely rude and actually kicked me and my friends out because we only ordered beers. He insisted we order food as well, even though we weren’t hungry. This kind of treatment is unacceptable and completely ruined our night. I would never recommend this place to anyone
