A fixture in Stuttgart for years. Expensive but also first-class, whether it's quality, service, or wine selection.

I invited friends there for a birthday dinner last night. It was on the recommendation of a colleague. I hadn't heard of the restaurant before. Everything was absolutely delicious. Great wine. Absolutely nothing to complain about. Fantastic staff. We felt completely at home. We'll definitely be back!

Very tasty food but also quite high prices!

We rediscovered the Goldener Adler yesterday and were all extremely satisfied. The roast beef, which four of us ate, received high praise from everyone; it was excellent! The accompanying sauce, the spaetzle, and the mushroom soup as a starter were also very well prepared. So, full marks for the very friendly service!

Food with purpose! Not too much, but enough, and top quality! A wonderfully selected wine list! A wide selection of quality! If I didn't know better, it would even be possible to upgrade to Michelin! But that also requires a lot of time, money, free time, and sacrifice! Highly recommended! Please, more of this!

We went there for dinner at the beginning of August to find out if the restaurant was suitable for a quiet evening for two to celebrate our wedding anniversary in September. We were satisfied with the quality of the food and the atmosphere. Yesterday, we took another look at the online menu and were extremely annoyed to see that a dish with duck foie gras was offered. This form of "food production" is banned in Europe with a few exceptions and is considered animal cruelty. I wish all those responsible for spreading it a second life as a duck or goose, in which they have a pipe rammed down their throats and into their stomachs every day until slaughter, thus painfully fattening them. All this for unscrupulous and ruthless people who apparently believe they have to enrich themselves and feed themselves off the suffering of animals. Never again!

An excellent establishment for enjoying German cuisine and mild specialties. The terrace is ideal for summer evenings.

A rustic restaurant in the heart of Stuttgart. The menu isn't overly elaborate, featuring hearty Swabian cuisine. My wife had a delicious pancake soup as a starter. I had the beef tartare, very well-seasoned and flavorful. My highlight was the roast beef with onions and spaetzle, with excellent quality meat cooked to perfection. The waitress recommended a very good wine (their house brand Pinot Gris). We'd be happy to return, but reservations aren't possible due to limited capacity.

Nice service, good food, nice ambience outside

The ambiance is rather rustic, and so is the service. Both exude a certain charm, and the overall package fits perfectly. The service was also attentive. The beef broth with Maultasche was very strong for me. Good flavors, without trying to do something inappropriate with a classic dish. The ravioli with truffle also won me over, but without getting the last bit out of it. The ox cheeks themselves were very strong. The sauce and side dish were a bit bland in places. All in all, though, they were of a high standard. The orange and bergamot sorbet really won me over. Overall, it's not enough for 5 stars for me, but it's not far off. The price/performance ratio is also good.

When I politely asked at the beer garden to say they had a light beer, I was asked rather rudely what I meant by a light beer. We were supposed to eat there, but the unfriendly service spoiled the mood so much that we left after one beer. The menu sounded quite tasty, but it was quite expensive. Unfortunately, there was no salad for the main course. P.S. We had a really nice evening at Dinkelacker afterward.

A very good German and international restaurant with reasonable prices and a very good wine selection. Make a reservation in advance and allow time to find a parking space. A quick tip: There's a somewhat inconspicuous hospital parking garage across the street.

We spontaneously visited the Goldener Adler on Wednesday evening – and were completely thrilled. Even though we didn't have a reservation, we were seated right away; the team was warm, attentive, and pleasantly unobtrusive. You feel immediately welcome. The food was excellent: veal schnitzel, cordon bleu, and fried potatoes – all hot, crispy, and perfectly seasoned. The potato salad was particularly outstanding. The portions were generous; we were more than satisfied. The menu is also well thought out: alongside classics, there are creative vegetarian dishes like an Indian lentil soup – not token dishes, but thoughtfully prepared. The dessert menu looked tempting (the crème brûlée at the next table!), but unfortunately, we were too full. The drinks selection is well above standard, and equally pleasing: For example, they offer Augustiner instead of just Dinkelacker – you can tell they value quality here. The dessert wines are also excellent. They even serve ice wine! Tip: It's worth making a reservation – in summer, there are also lovely garden seats. Prices are a bit high, but absolutely reasonable – we definitely recommend it. We'd be happy to come back.

Nice atmosphere and high quality ingredients make this location inviting. However for the price you are paying I would have expected more, maybe some chef’s gifts, bread or a larger side with the cordon bleu, instead of just salad. Service was fast, but our server felt a bit rude at times as well..

Nevertheless, we felt quite down-to-earth – perhaps a little too down-to-earth for this setting. 🦒 Glorya, our 11cm tall stuffed giraffe with a healthy thirst, commented dryly: "Well, if I feel like a beer, I'll order one. Even with a napkin under the glass. Cheers!" The food was undoubtedly excellent, with high-quality ingredients and great presentation. Only our choice of drink – a simple beer – garnered a few puzzled glances. Do you have to drink wine with good food? We say: not necessarily. Conclusion: A beautiful restaurant with fine cuisine that may have a specific clientele in mind. Those who prefer a more relaxed atmosphere will feel it. We love veal cordon bleu and regularly go to the Goldener Adler when we want to treat ourselves to something special.

It's not always easy to get a table, but the food is excellent.

Four of us were here today on Easter Sunday as a couple with our mothers. Always been great in the past. Unfortunately different today. The cards were handed to us with the words, did we need an English card? When we replied “no thanks” in irritation, we were told that we don’t really know that anymore these days. The question probably came from because my mother and I look Asian. As a native German, I had actually never experienced this before. In order to save future guests the unpleasant experience: please just hand over the German card and assume German-speaking guests. Everyone else will draw attention to you after the first greeting at the latest and you don't risk hurting any feelings. In general, as a guest, it is actually appropriate to exchange a few words of greeting. Then you'll quickly find out who speaks which language. The cream of asparagus soup was apparently an asparagus stock with cream and two pieces of white and a few pieces of green asparagus. I wouldn't order here again. Everything else was, as usual, very tasty. We had the veal kidney here for the first time. Highly recommended. Unfortunately, today is the last time for me to win the Golden Eagle. Really sad after almost 10 years.

Our visit to the restaurant was really excellent. We were warmly welcomed and served. The wine recommendation for our meal was very good and we had the feeling that our waiter was really happy that he could support us with his expertise. The food was really good and very reasonable in terms of price-performance ratio. If we are in Stuttgart again, we will come back. Really great and recommended for a special evening.

Good restaurant, been there several times in the last two years.

Man wählt das Restaurant, wenn man einen besonderen Anlass sucht, wie z.B. einen Geburtstag. Insofern war es auch schon eine Zeitlang her, dass ich das letzte Mal dort war. Es war ein Schock. Man wurde geradezu vom Service zur schnellen Bestellung (der Laden war mittelmäßig besetzt) gedrängt und dann kam innerhalb von weniger als 10 Minuten der Heilbutt auf Safransauce. Letztere schmeckte mehr nach Mehlschwitze als sonst irgendwelchen Zutaten und der Fisch war „gut“ durchgetrocknet, was man bei einem Heilbutt Filet erst einmal hinbekommen muss. Auf gleichem Niveau ging es mit dem Nachtisch weiter. Das ehemals gute Restaurant ist ziemlich abgestürtz.

Whether business lunch or private, the golden eagle is a safe bet. Unusual starters and classic main courses accompanied by good service and a good mood. In my opinion, a high level at fair prices, which is becoming increasingly difficult to find in Stuttgart. Please keep it up. A suggestion for improvement would be to optimize the acoustics in the room.

German cuisine is hard to find these days. It is a bit more expensive but services reflects it. The food was ok for the price and the desserts really nice. The atmosphere is a bit echoing so I recommend one of the booths they have on the side.

The location at Marienhospital is perfect, and best of all: there is free parking, which is a rarity in Stuttgart. The service is first class, especially kudos to Nicole - she was incredibly attentive, friendly and professional. You immediately feel welcome and well looked after. The food was simply fantastic! The cordon bleu in particular is a real highlight – juicy, perfectly breaded and a delight in terms of taste. The entire atmosphere is also very pleasant and invites you to linger. All in all, a thoroughly successful visit. I'll definitely be back! Clear 5 stars!

The Golden Eagle combines creative, international starters with main courses of hearty, traditional Swabian cuisine - an interesting mix! The ambience is stylish but relaxed, the service professional and friendly. The prices are absolutely reasonable for Stuttgart. Deserved Bib Gourmand and a clear recommendation!

Conclusion: Very tasty food (also vegan), but no feel-good factor. The starter (Brussels sprouts) and main course (Gnocci) were a taste and tactile experience. These were the only vegan dishes but they were an absolute delight! Greatly balanced and prepared with a lot of expertise. Different structures and flavors transform the dish into a small work of food art. You can guess why this restaurant was listed in the Michelin Guide many years ago. The sorbet for dessert just tasted like sugar and wasn't that good for me. All other colleagues have a similar opinion and gave school grades of 1- to 2-. We were here with a group of 14 people and were divided into 2 tables, which was a shame for our team building, so not recommended for very large groups. The service was mostly very friendly. It's a shame that we were only given advice based on proactive questions. There were no awards for vegan dishes, you didn't know it when you asked, and from the moment you knew it you could have figured it out for dessert. But unfortunately we had to waste a lot of time with questions and statements like "I think it could be, etc." and so it was really difficult and delayed. As I said, our main condition was super sweet and personable. However, one colleague and colleague less. My dessert was thrust frantically into my hands. Ambiance is ok. I like the dimmed lights and no music playing. Nice atmosphere for conversations. "Interior design" is conservatively rustic and cozy. However, the dining room and toilets are very musty and stuffy.

This restaurant does what it promises! Yesterday the four of us were at the "Goldener Adler" in Stuttgart, for the culinary end of a beautiful day. First impression ambience: Simple, modern, functional but not sober and cold. The food, the dishes: Starters: chestnut soup at its best! The chestnut came through really well, and the targeted use of salt, pepper and cream took this taste experience to another dimension. The Tatar: To be honest, a somewhat idiosyncratic interpretation of the classic Tatar, but all the more brilliant for that! The slightly sour note made my taste buds explode. There was no missing egg yolk or whatever. Nobody can fry the scallops better to perfection, a touch of pepper and a touch of lemon or lime zest would have made the whole thing worthy of a star. I admit, this is complaining at the highest level. Main course boiled beef: You just can't get any more tender, better seasoned including horseradish sauce and beetroot vegetables. The fried potatoes with a crust and melted inside to bathe in. The monkfish was cooked to perfection. The spinach, which my partner ate completely, was great! For the monkfish, I might have liked a little more lemon or lime zest for freshness. The risotto, and that is my only criticism, was on the upper salt limit and could have used a little more fluffiness, i.e. butter and cheese. About the service: TOP AND COMPETENT!!! "Johannes" was forward-looking, gave very good advice on wine, and simply how you would imagine service in a good restaurant. Finally, I would like to express my appreciation to the entire kitchen team, led by chef Dominique Kopp, and to the service with Johannes. Mr Christopher Oehlkrug, you have a great restaurant with a brilliant team. WE WILL COME BACK!!!

Last night we ate Shameful, exploitative and discriminatory My experience at this restaurant was absolutely unacceptable. When paying, the waiter aggressively demanded a tip, and when I refused, he was extremely rude and falsely claimed that it was mandatory in Germany. To make matters worse, he told me in his aggressive tone that I should never come back to the restaurant - a completely rude and insulting comment. This behavior was clearly intimidating, exploitative and discriminatory, as I was treated disrespectfully due to my background and lack of knowledge of local customs. It is unacceptable for a business to allow its staff to humiliate and intimidate guests in this way. I will never come back and recommend everyone to avoid this place.

We booked several days in advance to be sure, the place is wonderful with a great atmosphere. The menu is not very long but each dish is well thought out and even better executed. Generous portions and you can easily rely on the staff for advice. They also have the menu in English for those who don't understand German very well and we also found a member of staff who was willing to speak a little Italian to help us. A magnificent experience of German cuisine.

We have been to the Goldener Adler several times and celebrated New Year's Eve there yesterday. First of all, many thanks to the entire team who served us attentively and calmly. I can fully recommend the food, whether the onion roast with the perfect fried potatoes, the breaded schnitzel with my favorite potato salad or the dessert variations. Always worth a visit... Reservations are strongly recommended as other guests like me also love it and go there regularly.

We dined at GA on our last night in Stuttgart and were so pleased that we did. We had a wonderful evening, food was incredible, staff attentive and polite, and the atmosphere was perfect. We would thoroughly recommend this venue to anyone visiting Stuttgart.

The "table" was a counter and the onion roast was simply 100g 😂 The pieces from the neighbors were about 250% more. I have no idea what you were supposed to do, but I'm not coming anymore. You really deserve your €2.30 tip. Definitely don't share it with the kitchen. Wine selection was good, advice non-existent. Pouring wine with so much indifference also needs to be learned. Great 👍

Had a very good dinner, right up until the male server (and it wasn’t the female one who had treated us great all night) informed us “in Germany the tip isn’t included” - while pointing at the bill. Have never had a German waiter say that in my 5 years of living in Germany. That left a bad taste in our mouth. Based on that - not likely to return. Very nice interior and atmosphere, food was a 8/10. Unfortunately I think the final waiter assumed we were foreigners in town for the Christmas markets as we spoke English.

I think if you want really good local food, there's no way around it.

We always feel welcome, even with our little grandchildren. Interesting, varied home-style cuisine, vegetarians will also find something, allergies and intolerances are taken seriously. Prices appropriate to the high level. The quality is known, so it's better to make a reservation. Nothing to add after another very pleasant visit.

As always, a very good bank! Here you can get one of the best Wiener Schnitzel in Stuttgart. Also cool: here you can get a small 0.25l draft beer, Edelstoff. Super!

Excellent, exquisite food, a special selection of wines, a calm ambience and very attentive service made this visit an experience. The restaurant “Goldener Adler” is highly recommended. I will come again on my next visit to Stuttgart.

Such an amazing restaurant I cannot recommend enough! The staff were super friendly and attentive, the food was amazing from starter all the way to dessert. This was our last meal of the trip and we were so so happy we came here for it. The Maultaschen was incredible in the most delicate consumé. I ordered the deer for my main and it was surprisingly not gamey at all and so tender. And then the perfect Panna cotta to finish off the meal. Would be coming back next time we’re in Stuttgart!!

Ambience is a 10/10, you can't say anything about it. We had to wait 40 minutes for our food... it's manageable but it's not nice Onion roast was great… the veal kidneys were probably very bad. I personally didn't, but if one person in the group lets the food go back half-finished because it didn't taste good, then it's not that great for the rest either... Personally, I would come back for the onion roast and the ambience... but for more neither. We paid between 40 and 50 euros per person.

To my great delight, the meat was tender as butter. This roast onion was a poem!

Sehr gutes deutsches Restaurant. Die Gerichte werden klassisch, aber gleichzeitig elegant serviert. Empfehlenswert: Zwiebelrostbraten. Das Personal ist sehr professionell und freundlich.

Great evening on the terrace. Top service, very friendly. We had one or two dishes that didn't blow us away 100%, but others were really great. Ambiance is nice for being in the middle of the city, there is some street noise on the terrace, but normal. All in all, not a complete 5 star rating, but we will definitely be back soon and would definitely recommend it.

Absolutely recommended restaurant. The slightly higher prices are definitely justified because it really tastes excellent here. If you just order a main course and something to drink, you can get by with around €40. However, I recommend treating yourself to an appetizer and dessert as well. With several drinks you'll be at €80-90 and have a great evening :) The waitresses are very attentive and friendly. The ambience outside is very nice for this location, right in the city. It's pretty inside too. The tuna tartare and the beef carpaccio are recommended and the saddle of lamb is a very delicate culinary delight. We had a great evening and would love to come back here.

Although the quality of food leaves no doubt, it was not extraordinary or "mind-blowing" for me. But the prices are on the higher side. Price/quality/taste ratio is not the best. Local dishes are usually quite served in big portions, and that's why me and my wife often prefer to share a main dish. In this place, they basically didn't allow us to do so. Literally said they will not give us an extra plate to share a dish. Never happened to us before. But these are the rules here, so be aware. The waitress was super nice! without her, our experience at Goldener Adler could have been much worse

A smooth 10/10 The evening was super relaxed ☺️ The staff was perfect, always there when needed & always very polite. The owner was very personable and very communicative, so she immediately felt like a family. Not too much & not too little, simply optimal. In addition, the food was delicious, the price was good and the atmosphere on the terrace was very cozy. We'd love to come back.

Big disappointment in this restaurant which seemed of quality. We waited 1h15 to receive our dishes?!!! (Table of 4 people) While other (German) customers who arrived after us were served before. The wine that we had ordered for dinner comforted us for the aperitif but more than enough to accompany the meal...The waitress who was adorable announced to us the arrival of the dishes after an hour. We were able to start eating while the staff brought in the tables and chairs from the terrace. this service really gave us the impression of being a nuisance and deteriorated treatment towards us (we don't know if this is due to the fact that we were 4 young female tourists?) There was no compensation offered from them. The meal was good but we expected more from a restaurant that seemed so renowned in terms of presentation and certain dishes chosen.

Having traveled from Cologne for a weekend, the “Golden Eagle” was recommended to us. Hardly visible from the outside, but inside it's just a very nice restaurant with subtle lighting. The menu has something for every taste. The staff is very polite and the food is very well seasoned and simply delicious. In summer it is certainly a great place to stay with a beer garden under the chestnut trees. We can definitely recommend it. A great evening.

The food was simply terrific, excellent Maultaschen, very nice potato salad, great onion roast and excellent goose liver pate, plus nice service! There is also a great selection of wine and digestifs, served at the perfect temperature. The only small downside: the seating is a bit cramped, it's loud, the parking spaces are limited and the only real negative point is that it's comparatively expensive. Starters 16 - 24 EUR, main courses 28 - 35 EUR. Given the quality, that's just about okay. Wine is also quite expensive: 0.1 l by the glass for 5 - 6 EUR, 0.2 l for 9.50 to 11 EUR. Bottled wines 30 - 120 EUR. At the top it's good, in many restaurants it gets significantly more expensive, at the bottom you would want one or two wines to start with around 20 to 25 € or a house wine for 4/7 EUR per glass. Nevertheless: Nice wine list! Recommendation!

To tell the truth with such a German name we thought it would be serving the usual schnitzel and roasted potatoes. But we needed a table on Easter Monday and it had good reviews as well as a Michelin Bib Gourmand. I had to say we enjoyed the food very much, from my pancake soup to the lamb on peperonata and wild garlic polenta - knowing that I usually do not like polenta, but this one was tasty. I was glad they served the lamb rosé without my having to ask for it. Service was good and friendly and they had a small but pretty good wine selection.

Our dinner at Goldener Adler was the highlight of our Stuttgart trip. The traditional cuisine and wine were exceptional, and the service, particularly Philip’s recommendations, was excellent. We’ll certainly make Goldener Adler our first stop on our next visit to Stuttgart. Looking forward to seeing you again soon, Philip!

The food and service were very good. A great selection of dishes on the menu. There are many classics such as veal schnitzel and roast roast, which are prepared to perfection here. Overall one of the best (Swabian) restaurants in Stuttgart.

We went to this restaurant for my friend's birthday. Food quality and taste very good, but our main course came so late and I almost didn't feel like it anymore, but service tried to be as good as possible so that we leave the door satisfied, so I give 4 stars if I go back come? Yes, and will I recommend this restaurant? Yes, the steak was the best in town 🌃.
